Wok Wok in St. Helens

Ordered from there a few times but won’t be returning after we found a fly in our good, awful, got our money back but will not be returning

I’m a loyal customer and have been ordering from here for years. I ordered a takeaway with friends and ordered £40 worth of food. We ordered a half duck which was on the expensive side at £15. When it arrived - there was no hoisin sauce which is included when you order the duck. The food was going cold and I rang to ask them to send out another duck starter, as it was already going cold and we couldn’t eat dry pancakes that cost £15 - to be met with the most rude snarky girl on the end of the phone being completely uncooperative and point blank refusing to send the item back out. She said she would send out the sauce only - which would take a further 20 minutes and the food was already cold. When I said the food was already going cold, she told me ‘it can’t be going cold because it’s in a heated bag’ insinuating I was lying? This girl was extremely rude, and wasn’t interested in anything I had to say. Surely if a customer has paid for an item - they should RECIEVE the full item? I’ve now been unable to eat something I paid £15 for because your staff are rude and uncooperative. You’ve lost a loyal customer and by looking at other reviews, it looks like you need to make a few changes to your staff before it’s too late!!

The food was uneatable sorry it was horrid it all went in the bin sweet n sour chicken couldn't even chew it! I complain for them to say 20 percent of next meal no thank you I love Chinese this neally put me off, thanks to another Chinese I have had which was lovely! Will never go this place again! I think this place has been taken over, it used to be quite good food and service with a smile, now you're served by a young lad who comes across like he doesn't want to be there and the food has gone down hill. I'm sorry, but I won't be back.

Best takeaway in Newton-le-Willows. Food is always fresh and piping hot. Amazing flavours, compared to other chiense takeaways in town which can be a bit bland.

The food was delicious salt and pepper chicken is a must have the lady on the phone was lovely and she said 20 mins n 5 mins later the guy was at the door with our food a little pricey but completely worth it

Not the best it must be different owners sweet and sour chicken to soggy salt and pepper chips rubbish made with oven chips and the salt and pepper chicken pure salt not able to eat very dissapointed never used to like this feeling let down and ripped off at nearly 35 pounds paid

Ordered from here Sunday evening, put in order at about 17:45 and selected pick-up time 18:10. Arrived at 18:10 on the dot and food was red hot and ready to be picked up. Excellent service 10/10. We picked up from St Helens so just over 10 min drive. Food was still red hot when we got it home. The beef in black pepper sauce was absolutely delicious, so juicy and tender, lovely vegetables, tasted really fresh, we loved it! 😋 My in-laws had the Chinese curry beef and they loved it too, though they did say it was very spicy for them 🌶️😊 The vegetable spring rolls were super crispy and tasty too. We ordered 2 portions of salt & pepper chips and these were decent, nothing special and too much raw onion for my liking so a lot of the onion ended up in the bin, but they were nice enough and we ate all the chips, I would just get the normal chips next time or try a noodle dish but that's personal preference, my partner really enjoyed them. 😋 Will definitely be ordering from here again, fantastic value, fed 4 of us for under £20. Thanks for a lovely Sunday evening meal, looking forward to trying some other dishes in future 😊

I want to the shop in person. Nothing was ready to serve, so I had to wait 15 minutes for my order to be made. I ordered Chips, gravy and a large sausage. The chips and gravy came in a small plastic tub and the sausage separate. Portion of chips was tiny. The gravy is possibly the worst thing ever... I ended up throwing the chips and gravy away. It was the colour of gravy, watery and too sweet to eat....sweet gravy ??? Never heard of it in my life. Total cost with a can of Tango was about £5.60 Staff member on the counter was just a miserable young girl. I don't recommend going here, far better places in the area.

Rang up to ask about if they did certain foods and the lady was horrible so went to my trusted ' the village fryer' poor customer service wouldn't even give it a one star but couldn't post otherwise

Normally always go to this Chinese takeaway. 30 mins delivery today turned into an hour and 30 minutes. Constant lies on the phone. Unfortunately won’t be going back because of this. Food turned up freezing cold.

Good Chinese food at reasonable prices.

Ordered salt n pepper chicken pieces after a recommendation and they certainly did not disapoint. Amazing, fresh, hot and plenty 👌

I ordered roast pork with pineapple and ginger and was the most foul meal I've ever had, to make it worse it was almost £8.00, £2.00 more than its competitors in Newton. I definitely won't be going again

The meal was wonderful... utterly delicious... best Chinese takeaway I've had for a long long time... delivery was a little late, but that wasn't a problem at all and the chap who delivered it was very polite.... will definitely use again 😁 👍🏻

We've had takeaway from Wok Wok twice recently and it's been really nice. Ready for collection within 15 minutes of ordering online. Lovely food, good portions and good value.

A bit expensive but quality food apart from the chips they are shocking.

Good well cooked well seasoned food, good portions, quit quick to the point I worry things are all pre cooked however its the best Chinese in Newton le willows so far.

Terrible service, young girl front of house virtually threw my prawn crackers at me and my change, trying somewhere else next time after that service

Not great to be honest. Gave this place a try based on Facebook recommendations but I dread to think what a 'bad chinese' is for these folk! The chips were older than me, even the main didn't seem that fresh. Extra star because the staff seem nice and the prawn crackers were decent enough.

Just had a very nice meal from there.

Food was nice but very expensive my husband gave the delivery driver £46 instead of £26 two £20 notes were stuck to each other we phoned up to let them know and just had we thought all money was conveniently correct,I know that’s what happened because I went to the cash point 5 mins before to get the money out for the Chinese,so unfortunately the trust has gone from wok wok which is a shame because we use the takeaway a lot and for this reason we will not be using it again,yes it was my husbands fault and it’s our word against there’s

I've had food delivered from Wok Wok tens of times and I've never been disappointed. Super quick delivery and the food is always hot and fresh. They've never got my order wrong and the lady who answers the phone is so polite and friendly. I would go anywhere else now.

We have used Wokwok for a number of years and the food has always been good. We ordered a meal here a few months ago and it wasn't great and very salty. Tonight we ordered again to give them a second chance, chicken and sweetcorn soup, salt and pepper wings, noodles and seaweed. The soup was inedible due to the salt content. We binned it and started with the chicken wings and noodles. Couldn't eat the chicken wings either due to excessive salt. It was like a bottle of salt had been added to the meal. The noodles were ok but we couldn't eat them as mouths stinging with salt overload. Called them to tell them about it and was offered a 50% refund as the noodles and seaweed were ok. The issue here is basic customer service. The fact we couldn't eat these items due to the overwhelming flavor of salt from the soup and wings didn't seem to bother Wokwok hence only the 50% refund. For the sake of £8 they now have another bad review. I thought they had been taken over hence the much poorer standard of food but they haven't. Something has changed, maybe the cook but we won't ever use again. My girlfriend has now been sick twice and I don't feel great either. It feels like I've sucked up a bottle of salt. Avoid.

Best duck pancakes a place can offer.

Took a while to get through tonight but it's Bank Holiday weekend , placed order and told 35 to 45 mins , perfect times for us . Food arrived 42 mins after ordering , spot on . Crispy Duck and Shredded beef Perfect , Again !!!!!

Was introduced to Wok Wok by a friend. Wouldn’t go elsewhere now.

Tried this place last night for the first time. Placing an order was made very easy by the fantastic female staff member that took my order. I wanted to collect and was told that the food would be ready in only 10 minutes. Turned up and sure enough the food was being packaged bang on time. Got it home and already the smell had my mouth watering. Excellent food. Excellent service. Will be eating from here again. Highly recommend.

Although they deliver in about 10 minutes which is great- it really makes me think that half the food has been sat for a while and after tonight’s food I felt physically sick that I’d actually spent just short of £20 on something to go straight in the bin. For £8.50 you’d expect to actually receive what’s advertised! We asked for no prawns and they offered to put extra chicken in. NO ribs in it, burnt shredded beef. More onions than anything else. Just a total waste of money- disappointment of a meal

Best chinese I have ever had so I had to leave a review!

I didn't visit. It was a delivery of food to me which was excellent.

First and last time for Wok Wok!! The shop looks clean and open and it has a large menu on offer. Whilst looking at the menu the gentlemen behind the counter asked me at least 3 times if I was ready to order and he didn't seem to have much patience with me. Ordered chicken curry and fried rice, beef curry for wife, salt and pepper chicken for my son. Also ordered a salt and pepper mixed starter (£8.50). The curry and rice was ok but nothing nice enough to make me want to switch from my regular Chinese takeaway. The salt and pepper mixed starter was simply inedible. Dry horrible tiny pieces of what I assumed to be advertised as spare rib and rock hard dry chicken. How they can serve this to anyone expecting them to enjoy it is a joke. I've read a few reviews on here saying the food is good, and if I tried something else this review might be more positive. But for that starter alone I simply say stay well clear of this place. The gentlemen serving said when I left that he hopes I come again. I won't.

Had a few meals here over the years always been really nice. But recently a couple of dishes e.g Cantonese hasnt been the same it feels like its missing some ingredient. Staff are very polite just hope all dishes dont start letting me down or i will have to try somewhere else.

Very professional staff from start to service . They put your order on computer then tell you the price and how long it will be before it is ready.It is always ready on time. It is always very tasty and hot. You can see into the kitchen and see how clean it is.Well Done.

Decided to be lazy tonight , mum off work and me on school hols so it had to be our favorite take out !!!! Crispy Duck to die for , Mum changed to Chicken Fried Rice as trip to dentist yesterday didn't go well !!!!!!! Both meals were top notch as always , thank you .

Ha pedido a partir de wok Wok en los últimos 15 años, la comida es muy buena y a un precio razonable (recomiendo las costillas de repuesto) solemos pagar alrededor de £20 para cuatro personas y te dan gratis pan de gambas también! Mi única crítica es que no aceptan pagos con tarjeta bastante raro en este día y edad, así que el orden en el teléfono y es entregado o puedes recoger y pagar con efectivo, siempre es agradable para un regalo

Decidimos tener un vago T para empezar una semana con mi madre! Ella me permitió hacer las opciones para nuestra T, pato crujiente con delicioso seguido de increíble desmenuzada pollo con salsa en el lateral, nunca ha Wokwok nos decepcionó. Gran comida caliente y sabrosa. ! !

Ribs all bone no meat I ain't a dog I don't eat bones crispy chicken must have been cooked with a oxygen acetaline torch nearly broke my teeth a complete waste of 30 quid never eat from this rip off again

We used Wok Wok as our normal place was closed and what a really nice surprise we got. An excellent menu, really good pricing, super delivery time and most importantly excellently cooked food.

We changed to this place from our regular Chinese.... but the constantly warmed up recycled chips made us change back.

Great little takeaway, really fresh & authentic flavours unlike other takeaway chineses which can be gloopy!Salt & pepper chicken wings are meaty with plenty of onions & peppers, mains are of a good portion size & flavours are a good amount of meat & veg (had chicken satay & chicken curry) so will definitely be back again!

We go to the Wok Wok at least once a month and have done for a number of years. They get it wrong occasionally but will always try and put it right: good value and fresh and has a good hygiene rating too.

Love this place, we've had takeaways from here for a while, it's great.Reasonably priced, excellent flavour, never had a bad meal.The Singapore vermicelli and the beef in black pepper sauce are particularly good.

Crispy beef with egg fried rise was good. Sweet and sour chicken was so-so - did not like the sauce that goes with the chicken was all liquid and acidic. Chips were soggy and tasted like some very old oil. Overall - ok for the price, would not recommend that place.

Lovely Food, delivery is always quick! Never been let down by them, portion size is just right at the right price aswell. Definitely my #1 Chinese takeaway.

Always pleasant and helpful on the phone when taking orders.I usually phone as I'm en-route, as I live a bout 3 minutes away. Never have to wait more than 5 mins for my meals to be ready for collection. Good value, and excellent food, with very high standards of hygiene too.Recommended also is the delivery service. Not sure about hair in my food or crispy noodles as others might have found. I have been here several times and each time the staff are friendly and welcoming and the food has always been ready quickly so not much time to wait. The food itself I have found to be great. It is my go-to place when I fancy a Chinese.

This used to be the best Chinese in Newton the take away I've just received tho was disgusting chicken was rock hard and vermicelli noodles was utterly tasteless it's also dearer than its local rival the village Chippy is miles better. I won't be using wok wok again yes there fast but I'd rather have a meal I can enjoy than something I'm gonna break a tooth on

Wokwok never let's you down ! They say a time and within 15mins you have a knock a the door . Every request done - sauce seperate , no bean sprouts never any trouble ! They ave it Right !! Keep it up !!!

Staying with friends we have had many takeaways delivered. I can honestly say it must be one of the best Chinese we have ever had. Their chicken fried rice and curried mushrooms are delicious as is the prawn toast.We live in Spain so English Chinese food is a real treat for us.

We've been looking for a decent Chinese takeaway in Newton for a while now... And we've finally found it!We had starters, rice etc, but the highlight was the crispy chilli beef. Actually crispy!!The food was absolutely delicious, we will be ordering again!

I have ordered quite a few times here and and the food is really tasty.....However on quite a few occasions, I have found hair in my food :( Competely puts me off my food and is really embarrassing when my guests find it in their food too. Please start wearing hair nets!!!

Wokwok has been my fave since it opened and is consistently good tasty food even when they are really busy. Would recommend their malaysian sauce and hot and sour soup!

We tried a few places local and quality wise wasn't up to our expectations, until we found Wok Wok and since moving to Newton for over 4years we always ordered from here. And their BBQ sauce is really good, so good we always just order chips with BBQ sauce. If they read this, I guess they will know who we are by now!

We ordered by telephone and our order was ready at the agreed time.The quality of food was very good and plentiful.We would certainly recommend it.
