Chung Wa Chinese Takeaway in St. Helens

My go to Chinese, food is always good,not too expensive, and you're never waiting too long. Special noodle boxes are fab, great value too.

Friendly staff, good prices and great food

We have ordered from here for many years. Dissapointed to say the least. Moved away from the area so was really looking forward to eating from here. Hugely dissatisfied. Ordered a Salt and pepper box. Chips over cooked. Chicken over cooked. Explained to the manager who basically dismissed what we said. Chicken was dry i believe it was re heated.

What can I say about this place just that I love it the food for me is extremely nice and it's affordable

Went on friday 12/7/2024 got chips n fish bloody awful since new people were in yuk.

Always good quality, tasty food. I had chicken and cashew nuts and veg spring rolls. Can't really fault it. It's our goto for Chinese takeaway

I found this little Gem about 9yrs ago after moving to St Helens, after trying every takeaway i could. There salt n pepper wings are the best by far, lots of meat on them and very crispy with plenty of taste to them and the portions are great value for money. I have always liked the large Chop Suey home made rolls but found most places made them with too much veg ie bean sprouts etc and not much meat in them. Well this place make there own and OMD they are huge and the meat / veg balance is excellent with large chunks of chicken pork and prawns in them an great value for money. So a portion of S+P wings , 1 Chop suey roll and a portion of curry sauce which is excellent also all for under £10 is a Bargain an very filling. I order on phone in advance with the lovely SUE, she is so nice , polite and friendly an always greets you with a big smile when you walk in. I would "Highly " recommend to anyone to try it. I have also tried lots of their dishes from the menu and the Noodle boxes , everything is very tasty and ive never had a bad meal yet. I now live in Rainhill and still travel to here well worth the trip .

Dont buy a chowmein because it didn't resemble any chowmein that I've ever seen before. Therefore, there was no chowmein. Just noodles, no veg, very poor. tbh

Absolutely loved my tes from here my family got chicken fried rice chips curry sauce orawn Crackers and seaweed from here and a separate fried rice was Absolutely lovely , it is best place I've ate in st helens all my family have said so .

In haven't been in a while and found the coating on the salt and pepper chicken wings wasn't to my taste. I had to pick this off to get to the chicken. The other meals also didn't taste as good as I remember, but were edible and well presented (6 months later) i decided to grab a chippy tea on the way home. again, the meal was very underwhelming, just a very bland gravy, chips weren't much cop and no egg with the sausage dinner.

Fish and chips was very good , the fish was huge and a fair price too

Gone downhill, has it been taken over ? Used to love sausage dinners. Went tonight and the gravy is different and you don't get an egg on top. Was very dry , chips where all bitty

This is now our go to Chinese. Have used it more times than we should and have NEVER been disappointed. Chips are also next level.

Paid £10.80 for what I can only describe as a box of dried up mess ln a pizza box which went straight in the bin . Will never return to this Chinese

One of the best Chinese takeaways in St. Helens

Ordered chicken curry, fried rice and a portion of chips. Got home and it was 2 curry and fried rice, no chips and not a sniff of chicken. If you do go check your order before you leave the shop.

Not like it used to be. Just been for chicken curry with fried rice and a portion of chips. Got home to find 2 fried rice and curry! Quite an expensive trip for what we got. I wont bother again.

Was in St Helens for a night for work and got my supper from this Chinese takeaway. Surprisingly large portion for the price. Very lovely lady - only had £20 cash and the bill came up £20++ but she was happy with just £20 and told us to pay the remaining next time if we come back. Will definitely visit again if I go back to St. Helens. Thank you xx

Had 2 takeaway 1 o k 1 not so good

ordered food for pick up , 10 minutes, picked up meals , salt and pepper chicken, noodles , chips , seaweed, curry sauce and prawn crackers. Food was piping hot , well cooked and absolutely delicious. Have been using Chung Wah for quiet a bit and will definitely carry on using them .

Worst Chinese ever had .The £15 box was dry hard and had no taste. Use be best in town .dont normally do this but it was terrible

After being in lockdown for what seemed like ages, I decided to get a takeaway from Chung Wah's. As always the food was top quality with friendly service as always. Well done Chung Wah.

I ORDERED chopped CHICKEN CURRY WITH CHIPS the CHICKEN was very tough THE CURRY was bland and there was loads of scraps in the chips

I visited Cheung Wah tonight after work,i only wanted chips curry with egg fried rice,the chips was warmed up,i watched her put them in.(took just s few mins) egg fried rie had mo egg in it at all.Lost faith in this shop since it was took over 2/3 yrs back.Wont go again

I have tried most Chineses in st Helens and this is by far the worst! I tried it years ago and was disappointed but thought I'd give it another try, I ordered a special fried rice £5.40 and a tub of bbq sauce £1.30 the sauce was pure salt, the meal was tiny and had 1 piece of chicken 1 piece of beef and 3 pieces of charsui, I've had better young chow fried rice for half the price, plain and boring taste the meat wasn't great quality, I ended up spending more money ordering from somewhere else!

Great Chinese take away in st Helens

We are here last week. The quality of the food was very poor. We ended up throwing most of it in the bin, the quality of the meat is very poor, cheap and it shows. We won’t be going again sorry.

Extensive menu. Comparable pricing with rewards system which rewards you with free dishes. Quick preparation and well cooked food.

Best Chinese I've been to in St Helens. Top quality and good portions. I'd recommend the beef with green peppers in black bean sauce. And the large spring rolls are really tasty and huge!

I love this place andthe food is second to none and I have the tummy to prove it, but alas I will have to reduce my intake as doing my shoe laces up makes my eyes pop out.

Bought a sweet and sour king prawn with fried rice followed by pineapple fritter with syrup. The batter the prawns were cooked in was thick and very stodgy. The rice was dry and overcooked. The batter the tiny pieces of pineapple were cooked in was again thick and very stodgy, with the smallest amount of syrup smeared over the bottom of the carton. For me this was deffo not a takeaway l would use again as 90% went into the bin.

Popped in for a takeaway for the family all got separate meals and each one was delicious. They were really big portions and piping hot. They don't do delivery but you can phone through which I will do next time as the only issue is the place is busy and food takes a little while to be cooked but it was well worth it. I will definitely eat from here again. Thanks

Ordered here for family of 6 on Saturday night. Ordered some starters and 4 main dishes. Big portion sizes and very nice! Will definately be going back

Went the other night, ‘‘twas an impulsive order of the ol’ chicken fried rice, or as I have been accustomed to calling it, rice fried chicken. After sampling this exquisite ensemble of Chinese gastronomy at its finest I can with great confidence say that this establishment is very much capable of producing the lavish yet self-effacing dish that is chicken fried rice.

Bought takeaway last week and it was as good as ever. the menu is great and comprehensive. There is the addition of a "variety Box" which I think we will be trying very soon.

the definitive chicken balls with sweet and sour. A huge bag of ten very large balls. the fried rice though is always looks dark brown and burnt bit its just soy sauce. too much of it tbh.
