Great value for the cost - got a takeaway with a truly massive piece of cod to go along with my chips. Tasty and crisp but not too greasy! Better open hours than other chip shops in the city, which was much appreciated.

Worth seeking out this place if you want the traditional fish n chips with an option for something different. Option of small, medium or large fish n chips is a nice touch. Prices very reasonable and the foot long sausage and chips even made our teenage son look up from his screen! We took ours in the car to Exmouth beach and sat on the sea front.

Was told to go to the 'popular' fish shop but having read reviews I decided this chippie was worth a try and I was not disappointed. Beautiful, fresh cod, lots of chips and a lovely owner too. All at a very good price. Will be back, thank you. '

We are not local and were looking for fish and chips. There was one from about seven we found that was open at 3pm, other ones open at 4-5pm. The guy who served us was friendly. The cod and haddock were great 😍. I recommend it.

If I could give this place 6 stars then I would. We had both fantastic food and service from this chip shop. The fish, chips, scampi, mushy peas and battered sausage were all cooked perfectly and it was all full of flavour. Dave is such a lovely guy and if we’re in the area again, then we shall definitely go back for more of his friendliness and food :)!

Fab! Chips and sausage at a very reasonable price. Friendly staff who were having a good humoured joke amongst themselves and with customers, great atmosphere. Accept card payments too 👌 And parking right outside in the lay by.

The shop was packed when we pulled up, always a good sign. The service was excellent and very quick. The fish and chips were excellent , definitely give them a try.

Chips were amazing perfectly cooked and fast with good taste, fish was very very nice crispy light batter and a good portion, the sausages (saveloy was quite a gritty one) were a little boring but that's expected of a chippy. For the price it's the best in the area simply.

Even though mid Saturday afternoon in the middle of an Exmouth housing estate, away from the tourist places, this traditional chippy served great cod and chips. Medium sized at £9. Worth the detour

Loved this chippy, prices are great and the food is too, portion size is good and the staff were friendly and welcoming. We were staying at Sandy Bay and the prices at the site are ridiculous for the size and quality. Would definitely recommend the 10min drive to come here. Even if not staying there I still recommend this a a great local chippy.

Top marks for this great fish and chip shop, I was collecting a motorcycle a few doors away and fancied some chips for lunch, when I entered the chippie the fish looked so good I decided to have some, a choose of cod or hake, the batter was cooked perfectly all the way though to the (not over cooked) fish (hake) chips where cooked perfectly too, I will be recommending the shop to anyone who visits Exmouth area.

Freshly cooked haddock and chips were perfect. Sausage in batter and chips also perfect, I couldn't eat all the chips. Fair price, good friendly service. Will be back when we next stay at sandy bay

It was first time down to Withycombe Fish Bar tonight, not sure why it's taken so long but clearly I've been missing out. Definitely the best in Exmouth. Amazing service, no rush rush heres your food bye, type service. Also...the price! How is it still so well priced considering everything else has gone up in price...a lot. Including other similar type places in town! Will definitely be visiting again. If anyone is unsure whether to visit, just do it...I am fussy....it is good!

This is by far the best value chip shop for miles around. The shop is always noticeably clean and tidy and the food is always fresh, as it gets a good flow of customers. The portions are generous and the fish and chips are outstanding, this place is an exmouth gem and very popular in the area for good reason. 👍

Saw the other reviews, decided to give it a go. Mahoosive portions of chips. Cod and chips only 8.80, all others over 10 or 12 elsewhere. Lovely white fish. Gorgeous curry sauce. This will not be our last visit! Recommended highly.

We went for a large fish each as we were really hungry but the great guy behind the counter suggested a medium, glad we went with his suggestion as we were absolutely stuffed after this amazing fish and chips. And you MUST try the chicken curry sauce!!

Had to try this chippy while on holiday with the glowing reviews, but sadly disappointed. I'm quick to find places to eat away from the sea front when away, as I always think when on the front, places let their prime location detract from the food quality as a general rule. Chips were a bit soggy, but not too bad, and the cod was over cooked to a crisp but still very greasy. The staff serving were very friendly, but there was a guy eating his cheesy chips at the counter, assuming he knows/is related to the owners, slathering his cheese all over the shop. Tempted to walk away, but the reviews swayed my judgement. Maybe a bad day, wrong place wrong time, but we won't be returning to this one.

Staying at Devon Cliffs on holiday, never bother with the on site chip shop. Found this place with a quick google search based on reviews, and it appears that the previous reviewers spoke with purpose, sense and reason. Reasonably and fairly priced, perfectly sized portions, the tastiest, smoothest curry sauce and a pleasant fella running the joint. I cleared my plate, and that never happens even with my local chip shop. From Leicester on holiday for the week, surely might be making a return visit before going home. So folks, forget Cooks on the holiday site, if you've had a drink, send the kids on one of those segeways, it's not far, in fact only 2 1/2 mile. You won't be disappointed.

Visited Devon Cliffs Haven from Portsmouth for the weekend. Haven's on-site chip shop was pricey and the food was not very good quality. I searched for a local chippy and Withycombe's was the best rated that I found. I would now like to add my own rating. The owner was friendly and his staff were very polite. Serving good size portions, everything was cooked to perfection and tasted great, and all for a fair price. I would recommend to anyone staying in and around the Sandy Bay area in Devon, don't buy fish and chips in your holiday park, drive a couple of miles up the road and visit these guys. You will not be disappointed. If I am ever back in the area, I will be sure to visit again. Many thanks

This is a great fish and chip shop that serves very large and tasty portions at an unbeatable price. Dave, the owner, is very welcoming and friendly. This is by far the best fish and chip shop in the Exmouth region. If my wife and I weren't going back to Canada we'd be repeat customers!

I found this chip shop on my first day in Exmouth, as I was on holiday and the man seemed like the owner was very friendly and honest witch is rare these days 😉😁 The food that we had was outstanding and the price was reasonable aswell 👌 so we will definitely be going in there again. 😋😋😊😊

Great little chippy! Ross & AJ are the bee's knees, always a laugh when I go in, great food, great prices overall people who don't take like to seriously. The cheese is proper strong cheese, unlike some of the competition thats use "fake" cheese. My only (very minor) criticism would be to let the fish drain a little bit longer but safe to say it's my go to chippy now 🇬🇧🙂

My Mrs is over the moon a chip shop that cares about celiac, made fresh fried chicken and chips totally gluten free, even their vinegar is gluten free, best she's had for a long time, thank you!

Fantastic fish and chips. Had them down by the sea front. Fish was really succulent, big white pieces of cod and lovely chunky chips, not to hard, just the right texture. Really friendly staff and great value for money. Dinner for five, £30. Heading back to London now full up, thanks guys.
