Fairly disappointing really! ### Response to Reply I am sorry you cant take honest feedback! After hundreds of reviews and over 300,000 views on them this is the first time I have be called overbearing, had a bad tone or manner (and which one of the 4 of us are you referring too). This is just to save face and be personal! Our table was polite in the way we raised the numerous issues and I feel that if you can not take honest feedback then this is a shame and it show that you are unwilling to learn from your customers bad experiences! I do however concede that Kilworth house has increased their prices since we last went but it was still a much more pleasant experience regardless of the amount you pay! As for posting on this platform, that is what is here for. Thank you ================================ So 4 of use went for afternoon tea today and was treated by a lovely lady who explained the cakes and what's included. First of all would you pay £36 for this tier of food, 4 triangles of sandwiches, 2 scones, cream, Jam and a choice of cake. Some crisps and a few strawberries and blackberries? This is £18 a head .... hmm The crisps were soft and clearly been opened and stored in the fridge. The filling on and sandwiches was minimal, apart for the tuna. The scone was OK and the Rocky road had a hint of chocolate but not very tasteful. The first server went home sick and we had no check back or water we asked for until the manager came over and offered us £10 off the bill. Which was nice. However when we came to pay we got charged for 5 afternoon teas at £80!!! Ouch We did raise this and was refunded. It was all just a bit hard work. Asking for things several times, soft food! Billed incorrectly! All just very unorganised. I have had much better from Kilworth House ..... sorry!

Good breakfast, glad chose the small versions as they where enough, cappuccino was also very good.

Wow, wow, wow, what a fabulous afternoon tea we had today at the café. Thank you so much to the Wistow team for looking us all so well today. Ten friends met up to celebrate my late mum's life. We had a wonderful time sharing memories of mum over afternoon tea. The staff at Wistow were great, very attentive and catered for all our needs providing a delicious selection of sandwiches, scones and cakes. Thank you to the team at Wistow café for a lovely afternoon!

We booked the ‘green room’ for a family gathering of 20 at Sunday lunch, with the ‘light summer menu’: chicken, salmon or vegan, with selection of little cakes for dessert, wine & water. It could not have been better, really delicious food, very pleasantly presented for us to help ourselves, and friendly attention to the extent it was needed. We had booked it from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. and we did not get hassled away but they put up with us overstaying for half-an-hour or so. Just what we wanted and decent value. Thank you!

The food was good but after a 30 min wait in the queue. So disorganised behind the counter.

It's ok but nothing special. Had a sausage Ciabatta which came without any butter or spread so was extremely dry. Asked for sauce and the worker said abruptly it's inside and off she went. Expensive for what you get but isn't everywhere these days!. They were extremely busy so maybe that was why the service was not great. I heard good things about this place so was a bit disappointed.

Due to high volume of customers queueing took soooooo long. They need to double up tills and/or manpower to have swifter process. We sat outside because it was so loud in undercover area and definitely inside. Needs soft furnishings to absorb sound. Apart from that lovely setting and area. Other shops great too - especially my favourite: Outerspace. I always buy something each visit. Garden centre is good too - great choice.

Extremely slow and rather expensive. Took 25 mins in the queue to be served, then over 45 mins for 2 sandwich’s. Prices weren’t great and the girls behind the counter were bored and uninterested. Decent amount of seating and choice. Fresh orange juice was good. When next visit will bring sandwiches!

Really fantastic breakfast menu and great for vegetarians. Went as a family for brunch for a birthday. Coffee was nice and strong. There was gf cakes on offer that looked home made. Lots of different sections to choose from for seating. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Not the best with queuing, for what seems like ages...and ages. The system is so slow. Coffee served with no saucers... Here's your cup. Teas with no saucers or pots .The teabag in a cup...come on. Help yourself to milk ? Feels like a school canteen. It's really not what it used to be.Looks like the bean counters are running the show. You pay top dollar for less quality and experience It's a shame, really.

After a long queue to be served and eagerly awaiting our tea and coffee they were served in cups with no saucers ...no pot of tea ...might as well have stayed in and made it ourselves and saved £6.30 !! Your better off going to Glebe garden centre served in a tea pot with saucer and so much cheaper. Will NOT be returning as a rip off!

Love this place walk through the garden centre then into the shops and café. It’s a nice laid back atmosphere with little homely warmth added. The food is excellent and always hits the spot. The staff are really friendly and efficient.

Understaffed during the summer holiday - a silly decision. The queue to order food was excessively long. Food crumbs left on the floor from previous customers. Small potion sizes for the price. Not as good as this place was once upon a time.

Gluten free huge disappointment I’m sorry but when you charge exactly the same for both of these plates I would have at least expected a little more smoked salmon on the gluten free bun. Could barely taste due to the amount of bread. Also presentation, what a difference if you’d just have made open ‘sandwich’ type with the bun. Sorry but I know prices of gluten free bread and smoked salmon and this does not equate to equal value for money and appearance was nothing, top was on bun when it arrived. Even just opening it I did for this picture made itvloook more presentable. . Feel you let yourself down with this one. Rest of the groups meals looked lovely.

A nice little place to lunch/brunch, etc. We stopped in for breakfast. The choice was good and the prices on a par with what you'd expect. One daughter had a salmon and cream cheese bagel which she really enjoyed. The other daughter had a veggie breakfast that she didn't really want in the first place and didn't finish - no reflection on the food. I had a their big brekkie, which wasn't big. We also shared a pancake stack between us. I don't want to be down on this place because we really enjoyed our visit, the weather was lovely, the cafe was lovely and the staff were really welcoming and friendly, especially our server Alex who was a delightful young lady, so pleasant and polite - exactly the kind of server you hope to get. If I could be constructively critical for a second though, I would say my big brekkie was standard size and quality wise was standard. I enjoyed it and finished it but if you big something up on a menu, then you've given a level of expectation to deliver against. Had it just been described as English breakfast, I would have expected exactly what I received. And the pancake stack would have benefitted from a filling between pancakes - it was all on the top. There was a sufficient amount but it would have been nicer if some was between the pancakes. If it sounds like I am being picky, that's probably true, as I say, we all enjoyed our breakfast at wistow cafe/bistro.

Lovely setting and great breakfast.

Very average but far too overpriced. £18 for an afternoon tea with a couple of sandwiches, 1 scone and 1 cake. They charge extra for a refill of the tea (which is crazy. I’ve never had that anywhere else). Food tasted good, but just not what you’d expect from an afternoon tea when there are better options elsewhere for similar prices.

Vegan menu flavours need to be improved

We normally have a good meal and refreshments from the Cafe Bistro,but today the Latte tasted different and it was only warm.But my partner's Big Breakfast was good and Americano hot.

Private party for our silver wedding anniversary and it was perfect. Food was fab, staff and setting couldn't have been any better. Thanks to all the staff who helped my daughter make our surprise party that bit more special.

Lovely place to go. The food was great, and the service was a bit, but that was down to how busy this place gets. I would say it is overpriced.

So disappointingwith the service plenty of staff for the waiting times for a drink is just hideous, so so slow , surely theres a better service you can consider doing . . Not sure the plastic black school trays are a welcoming sign nor the gravy jug with help yourself milk , very very poor and being left open to the plentiful of ppl is not hygienic in any sense , why can you not serve just a small milk jug to the individual is beyond me . The prices are very high for the quality of coffee and the quiche i had . On the plus side very nice selection of cakes . But will not be returning.

Booked a table for 6 at 1230 queued up to order sandwhich and a drink cost £72. Hardly finished no time for cake etc kicked out table booked for 1:30. Would I go back NEVER

Extensive menu with homemade cakes. Very speedy service even though very busy. Only downside it’s Very expensive though.

Birthday treat ruined A 30 minute delay for a pre-booked ‘Afternoon Tea’ is unacceptable. What should have been a special occasion for an elderly relative and friend turned into an ordeal. I was embarrassed and annoyed as we watched casual diners being served hot food before our underwhelming offering arrived. We will not be returning.

Excellent brekky with the Mrs. Had the pancakes with berries and mascarpone! Was lush. Also the passion fruit smoothie was sublime! Overall 11/10 experience and the staff were brilliant.

Popped in en route back from the dentist in Fleckney . Staff are super friendly and coffee was gorgeous.My only reason for a 4 is that dogs were allowed to lollop all over the furniture which I’m not a fan of in an environment serving food and drink given that many had been walked and were filthy ( I am a dog owner myself and wouldn’t allow it or would at least hope staff would discourage it ) .

Lovely stop on a bike ride. Lovely food selection. I had a sausage ciabatta which was more than ample in a lovely baked baguette. Latte was good too. Will come again

For snacks and drinks it's a little bit pricey I feel, but then isn't everywhere these days🤔 That said thisust be one of the nicest and most popular cafes in the region so they must be doing something right. Cakes and coffees are delicious and it's a lovely venue.

We had lovely Baby shower on Saturday afternoon in the Green room at Wistow cafe.It was perfect with warm welcoming staff, a delicious light buffet catering for all dietary requirements. Thank you so much.

Brilliant breakfast burritos and coffee. In another visit, a tasty falafel sandwich with salad and crisps! Lovely!

Went this lunchtime awful! Teabag floating in cups instead of pot of tea we asked for! Milk in a paper cup on the tray and a horrible sausage roll that was neither hot or cold.... Tepid. Oh but apparently the Bakewell tart was nice

Not great not very welcoming staff (more than 1 this applied to) states open until 4pm forget that if you are unfortunate to go aim to leave by 3pm

Christmas at Wistow… the food was outstanding, the service was amazing and the overall evening was perfect. Totally exceeded all expectations, myself and my friend have already said we will be going again next year, couldn’t recommend enough. Couldn’t ask for a better festive experience, thank you!

Don't know what to say it's OK, but the service is overwhelmed and doesn't seem to work as one. After visiting Austria 🇦🇹 the staff there would knock spots of them they need training but this is how we function in England sorry

I held my little boy's Naming Ceremony in the cafe's Green Room at the beginning of November 2023 and I honestly couldn't fault them. The grazing platters were incredible and SO well presented! They split the meat, veggie and vegan options as I requested and there was plenty! They also created his Ceremony cake, which was so so pretty and exactly what I asked for, and tasted even better than it looked! Definitely recommend the lemon sponge! They were attentive, checking on a regular basis if everything was ok and we were happy, and just so friendly and kind. Highly recommended holding your event there 🥰

We went for a little lunch date and tried Wistows new Festive Focaccia. Was absolutely delish! Crisby bacon, tasty turkey, sweet cranberry, couldn't ask for more!

My friend and I chose to eat here and chose the quiche which was delicious, however my friend ordered a tea and it couldn’t be served with the food …. So the server gave hot water and a separate tea bag, my friend changed her mind and asked for a latte instead and the ignorance of the server was very clear, not friendly and needs to remember to serve the public with the respect they derserve …. The public pay your wage. We will not return as this service is terrible.

This cafe is a fantastic place for a catch up, easy parking great atmosphere all staff friendly. The best cakes and coffee for miles. The afternoon tea was just amazing

My daughters and I were visiting my mum and dad and wanted to treat them to something special ! So I asked my daughters what takeaway would they like to share for lunch and the said Wistow cafe ! So off we went and ordered takeaway foccachia, hot drinks and scrumpy 🎂.... It was absolutely beautiful and the staff couldn't be helpful enough ! Thos place is a little gem 💎 So worth a visit ... Had a delish afternoon tea which they allowed us to have in the morning. The food was amazing and was sat in the beautiful interior room. Highly recommend!

When we visited there were 2 private parties going which took up inside and outside space and staff were focussing on these people, also meant the toilets were closed in cafe too. Menus could not be seen until already queued for a long time. Order area was very hot, cramped and busy. Only one till point. Very overpriced compared to similar places we have visited. But as we had queued so long we just ordered. Sadly this doesn't complement the maze experience we had previously to coming in here.

the pancakes are so so good! had the berries on mine and wow there was so much! there is never a long wait for food, the cafe was decorated lovely with a new seating area inside and the staff were friendly and welcoming, will definitely be back!

Gorgeous breakfast, superb service, and very comfortable atmosphere. Lovely selection of cakes, and even took home a cheeky butchers sausage roll which was delish!

Good for coffee and cakes but would not order lunch again. Not much choice for anything other than items including bread. Mix up on order, ran out of several items and our friends felt their flatbreads were expensive for the size!

Lovely surroundings and choice of inside and outside areas to eat and either in the sun or shade. Seemed quite busy but lots of tables free to choose from. What was so disappointing was the queue for food! I left my friend sitting on her own for what was over half an hour to join a queue that started outside in a dining area past people eating and then wound all around the inside ordering area. This also making it awkward to go and see the choice of cakes & quiches on offer before deciding which I will say all homemade and all looked delicious. After ordering there was a very short wait before our food arrived which was beautifully presented and delicious. At no time though at all did the queue go down which totally put us off going to order another drink or a cake or ice cream which we had planned to do. We chose to move on elsewhere for these. Other places similar to Wistow we’ve visited locally have introduced an app based ordering system which could possibly be a great idea here. Not to everyone’s choice to order this way but would certainly cut down the half hour canteen style queuing.

Unfortunately, the salad I found was overpriced for its worth. I was expecting a good tasty dressing at the very least. Large portion of salmon and I thought there could have been more leaves/ vegetables. Perhaps a good dressing and proportion check would make it more enjoyable. Good service otherwise, thank you.

Nice food after a long wait, pleasant service but what inflated prices!!! Once your here it's a long drive to the next place to eat so your compelled to stay..the cuninglingus salad was very nice.

Afternoon tea was disappointing and not value for money. The cakes were nice but that was about it. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Wouldn't return as I thought it was really expensive for what you got.

We had a lovely afternoon tea here for a baby shower and everybody in the group was impressed. The whole process from booking to service was faultless. Great food and a big thank you to all the staff for being so accommodating to us. 😊

On arrival there was no menu displayed as it used to be on the wall so we had to search for menus. No staff helped us to find a menu to know what to order. On the counter there were quiches on display that were not covered which could attract flies etc.. I informed staff of this and they were not very friendly and just covered some of them up but not all of them. The food I wanted to order was not available so I ordered a Quiche although was a bit put off after they were on display and not covered but I did not fancy anything else on the menu. The Quiche came with salad & crisps but at £11.95 I felt it was overpriced. I could have had a main course at a pub for the same price and had more food. The food quality was ok but I expected the quiche to be heated up and it wasn't. I will not be rushing back here as it is really overpriced & not good value for money.

The staff were lovely. Disappointed however with our sandwiches. I had a BLT and my daughter had a vegan sausage sandwich. Not sure how you can make a sandwich with no butter. Very dry !

As ever a lovely setting and great food and drink, unfortunately as with the last few times we have visited there was terrible and chaotic customer service, this is hardly a surprise and is a direct result of there only being one payment till! At one point the queue was 25 deep! This feedback is meant constructively as better organisation and management could easily resolve this issue!

Lovely food and cafe . Bit very pricey simply dishes. Drinks 🍹 needs improving. They are serving cold drinks flat warm Nicely decorated outside sitting area , but lot of people comes with their pets (dogs) and it’s bit noisy.

Just back from having an afternoon tea, have to say it was delicious 😋, more than we could eat, we had to take some home, a mix of Sandwich, sausage rolls, small cakes, brioch ham rolls, salad, fruit , scone with jam and clotted cream plus as much tea as you could drink, lovely pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff who could not do enough to ensure our experience was an enjoyable one. The presentation of the cake stand was beautiful and shows whoever makes them up takes pride in what they do, try this place, have an afternoon tea not a jacket potato if you want to do an accurate review, then you get the full benefit, plus have a look at their selection of cakes, beautiful.

We waited patiently, my daughters meals came and i was told mine won't be long. I thanked the waitress and carried on talking to my daughters. I told my daughters to carry on eating as they were hungry. They had nearly finished their meals but my Greek salad was still not served. My daughter went to find out whats going on and came back to carry on her meal. A waitres came to ask if any additional drinks wanted. I told her my daughters have finished their meals so may as well cancel my order and she walked away. I went to the till to get my money refunded and was told my lunch is being done now so I asked if i am going to be charged and the kind staff said no he won't charge me so i went back to my table waiting again. The nice gentlemen staff brought and apologised for the meal being late, I thanked him. As I was about to tuck into my late lunch, the manager came to tell me I need to pay for my meal as its not paid for in front of all other customers. I told her I ordered first out of the 3 meals at the till. She says as a one off we won't charge you after making a big deal about it and asking me infront of other people to pay. I went to talk to her again as I could not believe she asked me to pay for it after being told I don't have to after waiting forever for my meal and spoilt my birthday meal. The staff obviously had better heart and training of customer service than the manager talking to me the way she did! Terrible service and treatment !

Absolutely gem in the beautiful countryside. Staff are lovely really warm and friendly. Love that it’s quirky and has its own character. The home made jammy dodgers were amazing as was the coffee. This is a must visit place as you can also explore the other small businesses there or enjoy the countryside.

I hosted here last week for lunch. We sat outside as the weather was amazing. They have lots of choice and really good service. Definitely worth a visit

We came here the other week for breakfast, I ordered the Nutella pancake stack and my partner ordered a big breakfast. The food came out super quick and was delicious, not to mention the aesthetically pleasing surroundings and friendly staff. The food was well worth its money, and I have payed more elsewhere for a much smaller size breakfast. Although there was a large selection of drinks both hot and cold, we decided to have a large mug of tea, and my partner was glad to see it not being served in a tea pot. Overall such a lovely place and will be visiting lots more!!

Perfect spot for lunch with the girls , offering delicious cakes and lovely lunches. Plenty of seating inside the main restaurant which looks beautiful, or outside in the conservatory where it is warm and inviting. Better still find a table outside and enjoy a Prosecco...

Greeted and served by friendly staff in to this lovely setting. Enjoyed coffee and delicious cake. Will definitely revisit to try one of the lunches we saw being served!

OK, so before I begin, please don't mistake us for a random cafe stop. We, as in (Married Couple) make a living visiting, trying and reviewing food outlets across the UK. We live in Leicestershire, we read mixed reviews and decided to try and review for ourselves. What we found? We decided not to upload our video onto YouTube, as we believe it would have a detrimental effect upon your business, we don't wish to do that, but we do hope you make note, take on board and make vast improvements, immediately. So, a Jacket Potato, how much does a single Jacket Potato cost to buy? Not alot. Despite, any form of climate we are experiencing. £8 plus, for a Jacket Potato, which you charge, is absolutely absurd, we order 2 of these, with Cheese, expecting thee best of the best. No. What did we get served? We got Served a Frozen, Microwaved Jacket Potato, it's very important to note, we know exactly what a frozen, microwaved Jacket Potato taste like, once cooked, they deliver a almost chemical, unediable taste. Did we eat the Jacket Potato? No. One bite was enough. Together with this order, two teas, you've either not got the common sense to offer a pot of tea, or you simple wish to be greedy, we'll go with the latter. So, considering you don't offer a pot of Tea, you offer, one cup of tea for £2.50. Let's put things into perspective for a moment, your cup of tea is the same price as a coffee / Hot Chocolate from most outlets. Your outlay with a tea, is the tea bag, dash of milk and maybe a sugar? Tea can still be a fantastic profit, priced at £0.80 - £1.20. You're clearly exploting this. To charge such prices, a specialality needs to be implemented, loose tea, cafeteria etc. Not, just a mug of tea! Atmosphere, so basically we was sat in a makeshift LeanTo, Greenhouse effect when the sun was out. The Leantoo looks like a amateur DIYER has put it together, absolutely nothing here is professional, and by far does not Warrant the ludicrous prices. What should you take from this? Appreciate, you are simply a makeshift leantoo, your food is massively below standards. Your quality of food in relation to your pricing is simply taking advantage of customers. What do you need to do to rectify this? Firstly, you need to stop blaming the "cost of living on your prices" You need to start selling top quality food, no frozen microwaved Potato's at a very reasonable price. We will be returning, another review will take place and hopefully all involved will have too notice and made vast changes.

I mean honestly this place is incredible!! This was possibly the best breakfast I’ve ever had, the waiting time was short for a large breakfast on a busy day, the staff were extremely nice and comforting seeing as they were under a lot of stress!...

Met for a cup of hot chocolate with my sister. We had a mug of hot chocolate each. Thats two mugs of hot chocolate for £8.40! Thats £4.20 for each drink!!!. I know prices have gone up but this price is definately not in line...

I went with my wife and mother in law and we thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast before looking around the quaint little shops surrounding.

I came for Afternoon tea with my mum for mother's day yesterday. What an absolute treat! Food was wonderful, just the right amount for afternoon tea. The cakes were delicious! Staff were great, very polite and checked on us regularly. Nothing was too much trouble. We felt well looked after and well treated! Thank you Wistow! We will be back x

Breakfast- so good! Very filling good sausages and bacon! Lovely place to visit! Little cramped in the cafe but plenty of outdoor space for when weather is better! Decent priced no long wait either!!
