Full marks to the Swan. We were lucky to get a table on Mothering Sunday, surely one of their busiest days! As always the food was excellent. What stood out was the service from the waitresses: unfailingly courteous, attentive and, given that the place was full, gave every appearance of being unflustered, whatever they may have felt inside. (We later learnt that every table was triple-booked and they were concerned about the turnaround time!) So bravo The Swan. We're fortunate to have to you in the village.

Delicious Sunday lunch, well presented, portions sufficient but not too big. An additional dish of vegetables included and offered would always be welcome. We had a toddler with us which didn't feel uncomfortable as some places make it.

Sent me a partially incorrect meal, made it clear as soon as it arrived and I was told the manager will be made aware. Nobody spoke to me. I asked for the manager when I received the bill, who refused to replace or refund that part as she said they 'provided a full meal, it was just human error from the Waitress not mentioning that part of the meal was out of stock, so they replaced it and provided a full meal.' Not the one I ordered and I did say I didn't enjoy/eat it, but she was adament a full meal means I must pay in full regardless if I liked/(didn't) order it. After a strong debate in front of my children and other customers, the manager finally took it off. Didn't have any regard for the fact I didn't eat/enjoy/order it, she just gave up really. Need to have more respect for customers here.

I had the worse food I’ve had in a long while at the swans last night …after really looking forward to a nice meal out …as I had previously had at the Swan . The menu was very basic … we had to order at the bar and pay for our food before we got it and we didn’t even get shown to our table … just told to sit anywhere. I had barely got back to the table from ordering and our food was being brought out to us …. Very suspicious!!! We’d ordered three bowls…tempura prawns , garlic mushroom (no garlic insight and even the dip was just plain mayo) and what was meant to be halloumi fries .. ( just deep fried over cooked cold and hard bits of halloumi) but we were assured every thing was freshly cooked !!! There was no salad varnish in sight . The five small halloumi fry’s worked out at £1 each …. No cutlery was given and when we expressed out disappointment at the over priced bland Food we just got a non genuine sorry .As you can imagine we will not be wasting our money on food there again , which is a shame as the pub is lovely inside . Not the standard I was expecting and totally overpriced for the small bowls of frozen and deep fried brought in food we actually got …. It’s certainly not the restaurant it use to be more like a canteen .

Don’t travel without checking the mgrs whim or wind direction, they are actually closed Very poor service, frosty and ambivalent staff and an entrenched ‘I don’t want customers’ approach to running a pub. Last orders prior to covid meant a fixed and regular closing time subject to a seriously quiet night. Since covid it means, nah we want to go home and you can too, go home. Twice I’ve bothered to walk here after work with guests and twice I’ve been told nope, closed. When was 19:30 a closing time?? Question: How can we give you money to help your post covid recovery if you close too early and stop us from spending with you? You can try the financial argument about staff costs and client sales but I’ve read your accounts. I’m looking forward to 2022’s as well. You’ve got a good nbv with cash in hand. Once I find the other pubs’ accounts I’ll update this post. You could stay open and breathe life back into this area. You received covid relief, and what, NOW you don’t want to be a pub? If that is true and that you don’t want to be a pub, according to your accounts and those of your estates company and it’s holding company, I’d suggest the rot appears some time around 2015. Gosh, what a fall from the heady, full pub, happy customers and full tills of way back when you’ve managed to turn away. Those cash tills don’t ring like they did once…we can see, online for free!!!! Won’t labour the details, but it’s not rocket science to develop a guess as to why you’ve declined…(obvs company info free and online these days). Or fix it and stay open and attract guests by allowing custom???? The fourth most popular attraction in Leicestershire has the most unwelcoming, the most client inconveniencing and consumer sovereignty contra view of service I’ve encountered in years. Thanks for nothing, twice over.

However, the new front of house ‘Hayley’ is without a doubt one of the most miserable beings I’ve ever came across within the service industry. Rude to not only myself, but friends alike. Overall good food, friendly staff and a reasonable price, however during my visit I discovered a fatal flaw with The Swan. The smarties pop up ice creams on the childrens desert menu do not have smarties in the handle. What a disgrace. After working a 9-5 job for the last 15 years, all I wanted was to come home to a tube of smarties in a pop up ice cream. I remember the joy on my face when I looked at the childs desert menu and saw the Smarties ice cream, and then minutes later when it arrived and I saw that there was no smarties in the push up tube. Utterly devastated. Do not come to this restaurant.

Big group of us went over Easter, had drinks in there before but never eaten. The menu has quite a good selection, they also have themed nights though-out the week, Thursday night is burger night for example, 2 burgers for £12.We had a selection of dishes from the menu, they also had a decent kids menu.I had the burger with stilton toping and for once they put a decent slab of stilton on, the burger was over done for my liking and the so called balsamic bacon jam was something new, not for my liking at all, thank god it was separated from my burger with a slice of lettuce, it did ruin the bottom part of the bun though.Everyone seemed to enjoy their food. The service wasn't great, had to ask for drinks, chase up food and generally wait around to catch the eye of a staff member. It didn't seem anyone was in charge and the staff were all young with limited experience. The noise was overwhelming at times, I like a decent atmosphere but this was something else, wooden floors and low ceilings don't help and if there's a rowdy crowd in the bar you've got no chance, some of the language filtering through was a little choice as well.Overall it's fairly cheap and cheerful, especially if you go on a night when they have a special on, I wouldn't want to pay full price, might try somewhere else next time.

The only thing that drove me insane is that the staff kept using the outside doors to come in and out of the bar. Fairly disappointing really! ### Response to Reply I am sorry you cant take honest feedback! After hundreds of reviews and over 300,000 views on them this is the first time I have be called overbearing, had a bad tone or manner (and which one of the 4 of us are you referring too). This is just to save face and be personal! Our table was polite in the way we raised the numerous issues and I feel that if you can not take honest feedback then this is a shame and it show that you are unwilling to learn from your customers bad experiences! I do however concede that Kilworth house has increased their prices since we last went but it was still a much more pleasant experience regardless of the amount you pay! As for posting on this platform, that is what is here for. Thank you ================================ So 4 of use went for afternoon tea today and was treated by a lovely lady who explained the cakes and what's included. First of all would you pay £36 for this tier of food, 4 triangles of sandwiches, 2 scones, cream, Jam and a choice of cake. Some crisps and a few strawberries and blackberries? This is £18 a head .... hmm The crisps were soft and clearly been opened and stored in the fridge. The filling on and sandwiches was minimal, apart for the tuna. The scone was OK and the Rocky road had a hint of chocolate but not very tasteful. The first server went home sick and we had no check back or water we asked for until the manager came over and offered us £10 off the bill. Which was nice. However when we came to pay we got charged for 5 afternoon teas at £80!!! Ouch We did raise this and was refunded. It was all just a bit hard work. Asking for things several times, soft food! Billed incorrectly! All just very unorganised. I have had much better from Kilworth House ..... sorry!
