Wishing Tree in Lewisham

I came here for the first time yesterday to meet some friends and we were all pleasantly surprised by what we found. First the atmosphere was amazing. Unlike the stereotype chain coffee shops that lack personality, this was oozing with charm. Random eclectic items adorn the floor and walls - dresses, teddy bears, dolls, silver and brassware, books, even a sewing machine and old typewriter. There are missmatched lampshades and right in the centre is a tree. Not just any old tree but a wishing tree, because, at the end when you get your bill, you are given a ribbon to tie on it and make a wish. There is a small yard at the back which offers outside tables too. For a small cafe there is a varied menu for every taste of cooked meals and sandwiches, as well as lovely cakes all at very reasonable prices. Selection of teas and coffees too. I had the eggs florentine and that was excellent.The waitress was incredibly pleasant (wish I'd asked her name to thank her here). All in all a very enjoyable lunch.

I only wanted a quick sandwich for lunch. Unfortunately it took over 25 minutes to get my prawn mayo sandwich! It was very poor quality for a price of £5.50. Thick bread but very little filling. "We're very busy" I was told. Well as there were only 3 of us indoors, the garden must have been heaving! I won't be returning as I can get a quicker, cheaper & much nicer sandwich in many other local places.
