Always have to visit Winnie's Bakery when in Burnham-On-Sea or Weston Super Mare. A favourite of ours are the sausage rolls. The sweet treats such as apple and raspberry sponge cake and majestic Madeline were fantastic! Everything is home made and never feels greasy.

My husband and I happened to be on holiday in the area and called in to buy pasties and some cakes for afternoon tea. We queued outside to take our turn, as only two customers were allowed in the shop at a time. We finally entered and purchased a meat pasty, which turned out to be ok, nothing special would have been better off with a Ginsters pasty. We also bought a vegetarian/vegan pastie which proved to be very disappointing, having hardly any filling and rock hard pastry. I might add that the young lady serving was very miserable and offhand. We were about to choose cakes, when her assistant an older lady, at the back of the shop, shouted out to tell one of us to leave, if we were together, as someone else had entered the shop. Surely that person, should have been asked politely, to wait outside like we had! This assistants attitude and manner left a lot to be desired. Anyway, needless to say we didn’t bother to buy any cakes, they didn’t deserve our custom.

I bought a cherry and coconut cake when I visited the first time, it tasted much better than any of the mass produced cakes that you can buy in the supermarket. I called back the following day and bought two more cakes, lemon drizzle and banana and oat, they were £2.49 each or two for £4.50, haven't tried these cakes yet but if the cherry and coconut is anything to go by should be just as nice. They are a bit more expensive than the ones at the supermarket, but it's definitely worth every penny. If I am treating myself to some cake I don't mind paying a bit extra for something I will enjoy. It's just a shame that I was on holiday and not able to visit more often!

Anytime we're in Burnham we always pop into Winnie's. The sausage rolls and cheese and onion bread are always great but we decided to try the giant pasty and a corned beef pasty, we wasn't a big fan of these. Felt like there was too much potato in the corned beef and the giant pasty filling texture felt like mush. We didn't have any pudding from here so we cannot comment on that. Even though we wasn't a fan of the pasties we still highly recommend this bakery.

Clean shop with a lovely window display, all the different items were clearly labelled and it is really good value for money. Cake slices were under £1 and the special breads were fairly priced - considering they are unique and something different to try (cheese and bacon, Stilton and apricot bread, chilli bread etc). The lemon meringues were huge! I went for carrot cake (moist and the topping was lush) and also a cheese and MARMITE bread.. wow! I nearly ate the whole thing by myself as I didn't want to share :)It is a great shop with so much too choose from, it is obviously all freshly baked and I really enjoyed the items we brought. But what makes Winnies special in my view are their excellent range of cakes and special 'tear and share' breads. Went with my husband and daughter, on more than one occasion to this little café A true Gem, staff are always very helpful and cheerful, The cakes are amazing, I have tried to resist but find them too tempting, and unlike some cakes that look lovely but taste is disappointing, these are gorgeous in looks and taste, last time myself and daughter tried the courgette and lime, while my husband had coffee and walnut, both were very tasty, along with an unusual but delicious Mumbai chai, highly recommended. All in all a very nice eating experience with the backdrop of surrounding woodland, and stream that runs past.

We don’t live far from BOS so decided to drive down for a couple of hours. It was a very cold day so decided just to have some lunch then head home :-))) We noticed this little cafe and decided to pop in, there was a table right next to the window/door so we went to the back of the restaurant for some warmth, sadly the staff kept leaving the door at the back open even when my husband kept going and closing it. But apart from that hiccup the food was very nice, and I would return but when the weathers warmer :-))))

Started well, went down hill not because of food but treatment by very aggressive, intimidating landlord ! We had booked, on entering pub went to bar to buy drinksWe were greeted by a very nice lady behind bar,she asked if we would mind eating in the adjacent room as they were busy. She said she would come and get our order for food and drinks. We walked through corridor full of junk and toilet rolls into other room. This room used to be a nice dining room but now houses tv inside fireplace, numerous notices on walls and a lift that looks like a shower in corner.I imagine this room was not normally used.We did not mind sitting in there, looking forward to food.Lady came and took our orders and brought drinks .We were quite happy and were bemused when landlord entered and seemed quite unhappy that he had to serve us. He demanded to know if we were really hungry and wanted starters ,saying aggressively, most people don't as they would not eat mains. We assured him that yes we did want them.He then said nastily that if that was the case it would take an hour and half for food.We said politely that we did not mind waiting. He then said condiments were in the bar. At this point we were sort of amused by him being so rude ,likening him to Basil Faulty. Absolutely bizarre ! Starters actually came in 30mins ,everything fine.He delivered food, ribeye steaks 20 mins later. All cooked to perfection ,one of our party asked where in the bar the condiments were He replied aggressively again,"they are in the bar where I told you 20 minutes ago !! .OBVIOUSLY it does not register with SOME people !!! " The lady came and asked us if everything was OK and asked if we wanted drinks. We said yes and even complimented her on how nice steaks were. We asked him shall we pay in bar and he said aggressively again "Yes and most NORMAL people order drinks at the bar "He then left the pub. This to me was the last straw ! Up till then we just laughed it off .We are NORMAL people who actually live just down the road ! We were asked to NOT order at the bar but what is his problem besides being a rude, nasty bully.None of this was an attempt at humour. I have NEVER encountered behavior like it,let alone by someone who is suppose to be serving you and taking nearly £90 of your money. I have been told since by locals that he is like this ! I feel sorry for the lovely lady working there. Needless to say we will not be back
