Wings Cafe in Epping Forest

Great cafe with a smashing atmosphere. Food was priced cheaply and of very good quality. I loved it and will be going again. Well done.

It's a family friendly business but the queue to pay is very slow and then the wait for 2 breakfasts to be served of over half an hour was far too long. Not much of an apology and the fried eggs were like leather. Poor quality cafe ingredients at restaurant prices. £13 is way too high for a fry up unless the ingredients are high quality. Cutlery and cups were none too clean, either. The management need to be more observant as the public aren't dim. It used to have a snappy service, more choice and better pricing.

Ordered homemade pancakes for £6.50, and they brought them out. The pancakes looked burnt and tasted funny, and the summer fruits and cream looked like a slop. The coffee glass and cutlery were very dirty and the coffee tasted like beer.

Good quality food friendly atmosphere a nice outside seating area weather permitting, and plenty to see and photograph in the way of air transport and a play area for kids

Terrible facilities for children, unsafe playground especially the trampoline area, filled with rubble underneath and a large metal platform type thing next to them, unsafe is mild , it’s extremely dangerous. The play equipment is rickety , tatty and surrounded by mud and puddles with no effort to put any flooring or safety bark down. The whole playground is in need of a full makeover.

It's amazing there there is a playground with a trampoline there's helicopters and plains taking of and landing definitely 5 stars

Situated in a great place, corner of the airfield near to hangars, within sight of the runway. Decent menu choices, good food and friendly people working there. Definitely recommend.

Proper caff, well organised, solid fry ups and more with a view over the airfield. Nice big outdoors area with trampolines for the kids though toilets a bit of a walk. Queued for food on a Sunday morning (no booking) however with quick service we had our breakfasts in no time at all.

Lovely unique location . Beautiful china cups and crockery and nice varied menu . sadly spoilt a bit by the noisy music playing in kitchen i would imagine mainly for the staff . More appropriate music would be very welcome for customers

Popped out to a car meet at North Weald airfield on Sunday with the wife we stopped at wings for brunch. Due to the red bus not being open that day there was a long queue out the door at wings. As I ordered our food I was informed that there would be a 45 min wait due to staff shortages and being busy so I agreed paid and found a table to sit at. within 30mins the food showed up The staff where polite and the place was clean. All in all had a good time, the wait was just a little too long..but the toilets are some what of a route march as wings didn't seem to have its own facilities. I do under stand that they are making do with what they have..not the place for someone with walking/wheelchair disabilities as the toilets have steps to access them.. We would visit there again..

I took my old Mum here as well, as she was stationed here during the War. It brought back a lot of old memories for her.

A great cafe, good food, good service and staff. food and Highly recommended, good food and aeroplanes...what more could anyone want!

A friend and I visited this cafe today, just because we were exploring. We only had a cup of tea each (we'd both eaten) but the service was superb! A lovely, friendly young lady made our tea and brought it to our table. I saw her serving several other customers and the food looked brilliant - proper 'transport caff' bacon and eggs etc, and it was obvious that all the customers were happy. The chap doing the cooking popped out of the kitchen now and again to see how things were going, and the young lady was attentive, helpful and efficient. I only leave reviews when places have left a really positive impression on me. This did - the tea was excellent, the food looked delicious, and the people working there were marvellous!

Very unpretentious café serving good food. Menu is limited. Staff very helpful. Extremely child friendly with built in and fenced childrens' playground.

This is a great place for kids. Set on an airfield with a nice play park. Basic but nice food and drinks. Reasonably priced. Free parking. Little ones love the walk to the loo past the hangars (see pic!). Service very slow!

Took the kids there for a play and some lunch and was very disappointed. They hardly had any food or drinks and the food they did have wasn’t very good. It was all cooked very poorly and most of it we just left. The staff didn’t really know what they were doing and there was no visible sign of any manager to run the place, perhaps we just caught them on an off day, I do hope so.

What a spot on a sunny summer's day. This is a no frills classic British style cafe with the extra oomph, it's location at the airfield. Lots going on, Essex air ambulance being scrambled, great outdoors area for the kids. Food is absolutely what you would expect, not fancy but freshly cooked to order and generous portions at a sensible price. A great way to spend a sunny lunchtime.

We popped in for breakfast having visited briefly last week just for a cup of tea. The weather this morning was gorgeous and we sat outside so that we could enjoy watching planes taking off and landing. My partner had the large breakfast, which he said was tasty and served nice and hot. I opted for the cheese and marmite panini and this too was tasty. It came with salad and some tortilla chips. All very nice. Good hot tea and we were set for the day. Worth a visit for an early morning stop off.

The location says it all. A freshly cooked to order cheese and ham pannini, omelette and all day breakfast with pilots and crew from Essex air ambulance. Look out the window (or eat outside in the garden) and watch light airplanes and dozens of helicopters landing, taking off and just hovering overhead. Across the tarmac a WW2 Hurricane and in the adjoining hangers other vintage interesting planes. Quite unique experience!!

Only went there because the other (better) cafe was unfortunately closed. Had a bad experience last time and this time it wasn't much better. Ordered a breakfast that cost about £6 and a coffee for about another £2. Despite having a big coffee machine right there the coffee was instant! Yuck. When the girl brought my breakfast over it was on a side plate! It was so small I'd eaten it in about 1 minute. Tiny little breakfast that was probably not even enough for a toddler. Ridiculous. I was embarrassed eating it and really hungry after. The sausage was a really cheap mainly rusk one too. Nice toast though and real butter. Just not enough for an adult (and at that price!) Staff were friendly enough.I hope I won't be returning there anytime soon.

A really good place to go for breakfast. Nice food and friendly, helpful staff. Nice vantage point for watching aircraft on the airfield. A regular favourite of ours and highly recommended :)

I came here before and the food was dreadful - I had a Lasagna and the only way I can describe it was inedible - The Pasta was undercooked and crunchy, and the meat flavourless. One of my friends told me that now they have a new cook, so I went back with a couple of mates and we had the Vampire each - I must say it was very good. Cooked well and come out piping hot. I do not know the cooks name but she did a splendid job. Keep up the good work !!

Good functional grub at a reasonable price. A bit like an up market transport cafe. A good full English breakfast is served.

Waited over an hour for food. Waited 30 mins just for drinks. Possibly understaffed or inexperienced. No warning given for long waiting times beforehand. We watched customers arrive and get their food 25 mins before us. One older guy inside the kitchen bit was very rude when we went back to ask what’s happening. Two younger staff much more professional and pleasant. Offered free drinks for our trouble. The food was ok for the price. It came out cold though and not enough butter for toast and not enough cutlery for the amount of people eating. By that time we’d been there waiting for over an hour so just wanted to get away.

I turned up and there were 4 people ahead of me, it took over 15 minutes to get served! Everything is hand written and then physically taken to the chef. The food turned up quite quickly though (quicker than it took to be served). The breakfast is ok, not the worst I’ve had but not the best. In serious need of a solution for speeding up the process of taking orders though as I did see some people arrive and leave as they lost patience.

Looked busy when we got there but I think it was for the ice cream and kids playground. Once inside one bloke serving, cooking etc and none of it looked clean. WCs stank bad and I always think if an establishment can't be bothered to clean the bogs how clean are the kitchens.

Beautiful vampire breakfast. Cooked to perfection. Friendly atmosphere. A hidden gem. A climbing area for kids . A great place for plane watching.

The weather was a bit like the welcome cold and drizzly. I ordered soup that came with bread and a steak and kidney pudding. The soup was tomato out of a tin and served in a large but shallow bowl that allowed the soup to cool before I had finished. The bread was shop bought white and came with two packs of butter but no knife with which to spread it.

Could this be the best cafe for kids in Essex..???? If not it's definitely up there. This is a place for summer sunshine with a great play area out front, planes taking off across the airfield and the air-ambulance stationed next door. If you child lives anything that flies go now... right now.

A group meeting took us to Wings and what a find, we will certainly be going back there again. An enormous selection of food and the breakfast was one of the best that I've had. Cooked exceptionally well, not greasy, it was top notch. Had one sausage, bacon, hash brown and beans and it would a good sized portion that was great value for money.

Me visita aquí a menudo con mi familia para el desayuno o el almuerzo. Es una cafetería encantadora, siempre parece tener un personal amable y hay un área de juegos y asientos adicionales en el exterior. El único inconveniente es su pequeño dentro y puede ser bastante concurrido a veces y no siempre hay un montón de espacio para moverse, pero no parará.

Llegamos tarde para mis hijos vuelo en helicóptero y alas café eran muy amables y poner toda nuestra comida en contenedores para llevar con servilletas y cubiertos. La comida era muy sabrosa y caliente. El chilie era delicioso y mi chaqueta fritas fue uno de los mejores que he tenido!

Primero tuve problemas para encontrar via navegador, así que mi consejo es mirar directamente a la dirección de aviación Weald. Es dentro, por delante de la puerta de control del aeródromo, junto a helicóptero ambulancia. Magníficas vistas de aviones, helicópteros, etc. turistas El café es muy sencillo y esencial, buena comida. Es enumerado y mostrar un cartel "ciclistas", pero no cumplen en el momento de mi visita y no hay mucho sobre ellos, no es un club de ciclistas.

Had a bacon sarny here recently, no bread but happy to cut a piece of a French stick, one piece of bacon for £3.50, that's feared than the city alas not going back. Otherwise nice day at the airport.

El edificio estaba muy fría y posteriormente no pude disfrutar de mi desayuno inglés completo. Demasiado lejos para una visita rápida. Usted sin duda necesitas un coche para llegar allí.

A great playground, decent food and coffee and a Helicopter next door! This place is one of our favourites.

We weren't impressed on the food. Our drinks were ok. Staff were friendly & polite.Outside play area for the children. It is on North Weald Airfield, on the side of the runway. It's a great location. Lots going on on the airfield, planes & helicopter's taking off, Essex Emergency Services, events.

Wings cafe is situated at the side of North Weald Airstrip and when I say the side I literally mean the side! You can sit inside or outside while planes, air ambulance and helicopters take off /land.The cafe has daily specials,snacks, cakes and drinks at great prices. Oh and did I mention that the kids have a playground for free to play on! Also for people who are into cars there is a company that does car rides in supercharged cars on the same site.

Been to this Cafe on a few occasions and each time has been a real pleasure going there for Lunch.The Food is always piping hot..............

We spent a lovely afternoon at the cafe. Both food and service was good and reasonably priced. The children loved the outdoor play area and watching the planes . I am sure we will be regular visitors.

Have been there several times for breakfast, lovely surroundings, good clean cafe, helpfull and pleasant staff. Won't be going back as now only serve set breakfast even though they weren't busy. In the past we have always been able to choose which breakfast items we would like, they do sell all breakfast items as extras, but only with a set breakfast... Makes no sense.

What a fantastic day out for all the family, the food and service was spot on, the children loved the outdoor play area and my husband and i saw some amazing aircraft. What an amazing place its a must…..
