Windowbox Cafe in Birmingham

Went for brunch with my children, there was a short wait for a table but we expected that. I had the passion fruit & lime cake & a cappuccino, the cake was delicious light & fresh, the coffee was good. My son had eggs benedict & my daughter had Avo & eggs, both served on sourdough. The smoothies were fresh and plentiful. The condiments deserve a mention, they're delicious, the ketchup tastes like a very well made bloody mary, they are also sold so you can enjoy at home. Service was efficient and perfect for us, as we don't really appreciate too much interaction. You can order at the counter or use the QR code on the table. Food was served quickly and everything you need is on the table. We will definitely be back to try other offerings from the menu.

Always my go-to. Never am disappointed. I've introduced many friends to this lovely cafe, and they all love it. Food always on point, smoked salmon, toast , scrambled eggs and bacon is my go to then their cakes are beautiful! Please don't close down!! Lol Thank you.

We have visited this place on numerous occasions, even moreso now that they served bacon..!!! 😂 Lovely little cafe, great quality breakfasts... Coffee was lovely, and they went out of their way to make sure we had a table rather than sitting at a bar stool.... Only downside... Eggs were slightly overcooked, and frilly edged... Would be nice to have runny yolks, and not overcooked .. minor complaint, other than that, definitely recommend..!! FANTASTIC vegan/vegetarian options...👍👌

Came here for breakfast on my birthday with my husband. Food was amazing, so much choice and all served really fast! Highly recommend this place for anyone wanting a nice breakfast and delicious food, would definitely visit again!

I met a friend here for lunch and was very impressed. I had soup of the day - sweet potato and chilli which was delicious (the best I've ever had). It's a lovely cafe with a really nice atmosphere and would definitely recommend. You have the choice of ordering at the counter or from your table via a QR code.

Best breakfast place in Sutton..

A cute little coffee shop in Wylde Green just off Birmingham Rd/Sutton Rd. I visited here for the first time to meet my friend for breakfast and it was amazing! There’s a wide variety to choose from with lots of seating. I highly recommend the Eggs Benedict and I can’t wait to return for the pancakes as they looked stunning. Customer service was great and the staff were really friendly. Parking can be quite busy as you only get an hour but there’s lots of side roads you can park down.

Love this cafe and usually it doesn’t disappoint for brunch. Today however I was very disappointed. Ordered the French toast item and sadly it was way off the usual high standards. The toasted brioche seemed warmed up rather than actually toasted and had little flavor of anything. Streaky bacon was undercooked no crisp. Overall no feeling of freshly cooked food. Hopefully it’s a one off because I’d like to see the cafe continue to thrive because there is always a nice atmosphere and too few places of quality in the area.

Top quality food, well presented and not to expensive. This place has a very relaxed atmosphere and is good to sit in peace or chat with friends. Free WiFi is available for use of laptops, mobiles etc also.

Amazing place, Amazing food and Amazing staff

The best breakfast, brunch and lunch around. I am a creature of habit and usually go for a cheese toastie or the avocado toast with halloumi - the portions are very generous and the food is always cooked to perfection. The coffee is great, the staff are always so friendly, and the vibe inside is beautiful. I particularly love sitting in the 'greenhouse' bit round the back, the natural light is really something. I've gone for a quite a few of my birthdays, and no doubt will be there for the next. Whenever my husband and I go anywhere else, we usually end up saying 'Nice...but it's no Windowbox!' It's also a nice place to go alone, I really think Windowbox is an absolute gem, and worth the trip - easy to get to from the train station.

My local brunch place. Absolutely love their breakfast options. Have tried a few different ones and never been disappointed. The seating area at the back is quite nice. I have been here many times and I would highly recommend it.

First visit today and loved it! We will return soon to sample other items on the menu!

Used to love this place however the breakfast flatbread hasn't been as good with flavour as it usually is and although the food is mostly good I feel its just really overpriced, however nice place to sit and have a coffee if you don't mind paying for it

Waited over 25minutes for a table as they were super busy. Staff were friendly and working solid. The scan app was not working so then had to que again to place an order, upon ordering food it then took over 25minutes to come out and was stone cold... really disappointing.

Really enjoyed our breakfast here last weekend. A lovely local cafe with a feel good atmosphere. Staff were friendly and food was cooked to a high standard. Will be back again soon

First time visitor - couldn't resist the Eggs Florentine and yummy Banana Bread dessert as well, missis enjoyed her eggs on toast with bacon too... we'll be back!

Great place lovely fresh food clean & friendly staff

The food is amazing as always but the staff very miserable and unfriendly. Not all, we did have a smile from one of the young ladies but generally felt uncomfortable.

We ordered 2 pancakes with bacon and maple syrup. There was pretty much no maple syrup on them. When we asked for some more the young lady who brought it over pretty much slammed it on the table and was just a bit rude about it all. The amount they gave us extra was pointless and a tiny amount it barley went on one of the loads of pancakes. The girl who brought us our drinks was rude didn’t Even look at us and slammed the drinks on the table. £25 for a terrible experience we won’t be returning!!!

Busy little cafe, good selection of vegetarian and vegan options. Smoothies are surprisingly good, well balanced selection of flavours. Milkshakes are not as thick as I like but not too bad. The open front and outdoor seating give it a very nice atmosphere.

Fantastic place. Wonderful, freshly cooked food at reasonable prices and great service. We ordered a toastie on thick sourdough, and when delivered, the waiter mentioned it may be quite tough to bite through for for my elderly mother and they offered to replace with ordinary toast. Even gave a box to take the original order home with us. Will never go to Costa again 😀

Wow, a little gem of a place, came here for the first time today, definitely won't be the last (8/6/23) Choose poached eggs on flat bread, young lady that served me, was extremely pleasant(didn't get her name, & i was made to feel very welcome:>) The food was 1st class, fresh flatbread and the poached eggs were excellent! Blueberry muffin was lush & lovely coffee. Sun was shining, so I sat outside, a very pleasant experience. 5☆

I always loved going to windowbox cafe, specially I adored toasted banana bread, but the last time I went the recipe was totally changed, banana bread was bit burnt and there was addition of some strawberry composte or jam that ruined the whole thing. And the pancakes I ordered were not good at all, they literally felt like a rubber. I am giving this review so that food quality and taste can be restored, I literally don't want to stop visiting this lovely place.

I enjoyed the food in Windowbox, especially Avo toast, would call myself and my family regular clients. Unfortunately won't return anymore as the latest order to take out took 30mins to prepare which is a bit ridiculous. I understood if it was a busy day with long queues outside but it wasn't.

A firm favourite. Love the menu. Staff are so friendly and go out of their way when I take a friend along who has Parkinson's disease. Ten stars not five

Nice cafe good value great service.

Visited the window box many times, always great food, service and friendly staff. Today, our order went a little pear shaped and had to be re cooked. Received an apology and the offer of free drinks. Thought this was a very reasonable response, no issues. However, the management went beyond this and refunded our meal and still offered complimentary drinks. This was not asked for by me and I was totally blown away by such excellent customer service. As the manager explained it wasn't acceptable service. Thought it was very important to write this review, thankyou !

We love it here. Probably starting to annoy the staff we are here so often!!! 😜 The atmosphere is great but the food even better. Consistent each time. Quality ingredients & good price. The menu is not huge so I think this is what helps the consistency. Varied crowd. Couples, families, groups ,people out for a stroll. Ideal for a breakfast, brunch, a coffee & cake or light bite. Staff are varied. Seeing the same faces. Done greet with a smile & hello & others don’t acknowledge at all. A couple in particular we have said they look like they really don’t want to be there 🙁 Overall a brilliant place & I feel you’ve got it just right. Maybe a shout “goodbye & thank you” from the counter of anyone when you see people going. Something you can do however busy you are. Keep up the good work. 😁

Really bad experience!! Saturday the 4th Feb my boyfriend and I with another couple of friends and a little sausage dog had to queue up between 15-20 min until a staff member approached us and asked us to leave as dogs were not welcome. When I tried to explain to him that I was told on the phone that the place was dog friendly he didn’t even show any empathy and he asked us again to leave (it was a male server with glasses). Really bad service, I had even given false information over the phone. I have shared my bad experience with everyone in the area. The world is changing and pets nowadays are classed as family members.Really disappointed. Mr Poly (BA(Hons)-MBA

Welcomed with a warm and friendly smile. I ordered poached eggs on toast and a flat white . I didn't have to wait long for the perfectly cooked eggs to arrive. Delicious. Definitely going to visit again.

Nice cafe with quick service and nice food. The menu is very breakfast oriented but was good anyway. Only marked down as we had to sit on the high table which just wasn’t as comfortable as the lower seating. Only a minor gripe though.

Visited this place again yesterday and had a turkey, Brie, cranberry and stuffing sandwich. Was really lovely. This cafe is so nice and I always enjoy coming here

Great food and atmosphere. No wonder it was packed and people were waiting for tables. Unfortunately I live 133 miles away but I shall be back when I am next in Birmingham.

This is our third visit to this lovely and very popular little cafe. We went at 9:30, opening time on a Sunday, and there was a little group gathered waiting to get in. There is a reason why it’s so adored by the locals. The food is really really top notch, being the perfect balance of filling, tasty and gorgeous. Really hearty dishes made with a lot of love. There’s loads of options, catering for all, especially with the drinks, where interesting specials are a regular if you’re one for something a little different (matcha smoothie being my choice today). The staff are friendly, service is quick and the interior is very pleasing on the eye. What a great little place and It sure does feel like home every time I walk in there now, the friendly atmosphere being the cherry on top :)

The first time we visited we were quite impressed, good food and good service but our last visit was very disappointing We were taken to our table quite promptly and we were told someone would be over soon We wanted and waiting and eventually stopped one of the staff who quite bluntly said "You have to order online using the QR code and table number..." The first time we visited they took our order at the table Anyway neither of us liked exactly what was on the menu and checking online there were no options to say no sauce etc so I asked at the desk and was told "This is how it comes, we can't take anything out..." Which suggests 'pre packed' meals but I can't recall if we had alterations on our meal's We were disappointed, first visit it was brilliant but after our last visit we will probably not return, the food we had in the end was good to be fair

Myself and many of my friends have been regular customers of the Windowbox for many years! Great food and service always! We find the staff are always friendly and help to get us seated as promptly as possible even when it’s extremely busy and popular throughout both the week and weekend.

Great brunch spot and fab coffees

Visited for breakfast with my family, the cafe was very chilled no loud noise or chaos. The menu is very extensive lots of different things you dont normally expect to see on a breakfast menu. I was spoilt for choice and changed my mind three times! Coffee is one of the best ive had in the area, offered choices of milk oat, soya coconut etc. The banana bread is to DIE for!! Lovely home made bread with creamy greek yoghurt and berries!! Yum !! Look forward to going again

Honestly The Window Box is my favourite cafe to drink coffee and have brunch (no matter the time of day) whether on my own, with family or any of my friends. The staff go above and beyond for everyone - I would know as I’m in here just as much as I’m at home! ☺️ They are kind, always polite and so so helpful, no matter the question or query. I could not recommend it more. I know I can speak on behalf of so many people I know too - it’s our go to always

Amazing cafe!! The best brunch I’ve had in Birmingham - generous portions and amazing customer service. Staff always very friendly and accommodating, going above and beyond. Would recommend to anyone! Being from Cyprus I especially loved the halloumi pitta with tzatziki - delicious!

I visited this lovely rustic cafe for the first time earlier today. The food was delicious as expected, and the coffee was the best i’ve had. The staff were very friendly and i would highly recommend visiting.

Incredible place, so peaceful and welcoming. All the staff are always so accommodating even when the restaurant is packed full of demanding customers, they work hard to ensure a pleasant experience. A lovely find that I plan to go to more often!

There is plenty of welcoming, inclusive and better places in Birmingham, STAY AWAY! This was my second time visiting this place, I took my family back because I enjoyed the food, I left embarrassed and humiliated. Things went awfully wrong when we were served the wrong item and had to actually have an encounter with staff members. The manager charged to the table in an aggressive manner and began to threaten us with cameras like we were some kind of criminals, this was even before we got a word in! The item being incorrect is the least of the matter here, his aggressive tone, adamancy to not listen and lack of professionalism was SHOCKING! We are all working professionals, we work as medics for the NHS and are committed to serving people regardless of their background and ethnicity, this was discrimination in its finest. It is deeply concerning how disgusting humans can be to one another in 2022. The manager needs to be up-skilled and staff need training. To make matters worse, we spoke to a colleague about the matter who started smirking and laughing like it was all a big joke (ALL WHITE BTW). Can someone please explain how it is demanding to ask if they do NHS and ask to be seated near the window? Of course, they need some kind of justification for their bad behaviour. The manager went as far saying ‘we are non-white owners and we have non white members of staff’. It’s that ignorant comment again, I can’t be racist I have loads of black and Asians friends LOL! It’s a matter that could have been resolved through good communication and decorum but the staff members have none of that! STAY AWAY!

I’m honestly still in shock as to how myself and my siblings were treated at this cafe, cannot believe this still happens. I don’t usually write reviews but feel compelled to do so on this occasion. To prove my account I am happy for the restaurant to upload the cctv footage as it will be show how aggressive they behaved towards us. We had visited this cafe this morning and had ordered food which came out incorrect, we notified staff and instead of providing satisfactory service they humiliated us publicly and behaved in a very aggressive way. We’ve visited thousands of restaurants in the UK and have never had such terrible service. From staff comments it was evident that non-whites are not welcome and I will never be visiting again.

The breakfast items and the drinks were pleasant, however my experience was marred by the events that happened on the table next to me. I was taken aback by the customer service of a manager. He came rushing towards the table in a very threatening manner and threatened some customers with regards to an order they had made. Instead of trying to come to a solution he threatened them with cameras. They were being quite cooperative but he just stormed off. I am not sure weather it was driven by racism of Islamamphobia but his actions were unwarranted and made me feel very uncomfortable. This was a real shame and it could have been dealt with very differently.

Friendly staff, reasonable prices and a reasonably varied menu.

Okay for a light bite and drink but not substantive. Looks very appealing but lacks flavour and is basic. Espresso and smoothie were nice but ham unrecognizable and flavourless under the poached eggs in the benedict. Staff were helpful and prices were reasonable. You won't find a full English or potato products here.

Way bigger than you expect, lovely inside layout, lots of options of food that look amazing! Lots of veggie options and some vegan (not many). Well priced and food arrived quickly!

1st time was decent, second time we went orderd the same meal and was completely differnt no were near as good and portion size was none existence. Flat bread with a smidgeon of tomato, mushroom was 2 slices of a small mushroom, 1 leaf of spinach. Hard poached eggs. Won't be going back in a hurry. Week before was way better. Need more Consitancy every time you visit.

Lovely brunch in Erdington. Good choice of food for meat eaters and vegetarians. My pancakes with yoghurt and fruit and seeds was excellent. All the meals were beautifully presented and our party enjoyed them all. Coffee was fab, as were the smoothies. Thanks 👍

One of the best places for breakfast in Brum! The poached eggs, bacon and Avo was delicious! It can get very busy (which isn’t a bad thing) so make sure to get there early, staff very attentive and helpful.

Best breakfast cafe in Sutton by far. Wide variety on the menu, great presentation and a very reasonable price! Definately will return.
