The experience as a whole was very underwhelming for fine dining. It had the atmosphere and service of normal dining but the food was portioned for fine dining despite really lacking interesting flavour and strong backing. The fried chicken was probably the biggest example of this, it was dressed up but at the end of the day, the saltiness of the coating overwhelmed any subtle flavours they were attempting which left me with a very nicely cooked piece of fried chicken, wonderful but not what you would hope for fine dining.

A really lovely evening. This was the first time we'd visited but it definitely won't be the last time. Had the festival menu and the tipsy and non tipsy pairings which supported the menu well. The wait staff were super lovely and helpful and the food was delicious. The menu was well constructed and full of flavour and texture. I don't like cabbage. And yet the cabbage dish was a knockout. The Balti pie was outstanding with sublime flavours and textures. Every single course was enjoyable and the menu as a whole was a complete tour de force. Really appreciated the way we were able to swop our booking at the last minute from Friday lunch to Thursday night. Looking forward to tasting the 14 course menu and to the truffle cheese tomorrow! Will be recommending to friends.

We have intended to go to 670g for a long time - our only mistake is not going sooner. The Birmingham restaurant festival menu for £70 for 8 courses plus extra snacks was outstanding. The Kray FC and pineapple snacks were a stunning start followed by course after course of delicious bites. The kitchen soup broth and milk loaf with miso butter, the keema and Balti pie and the fruit and nut dessert were particularly good - and the additional cheese course well worth it. Service from Kray and his young but fantastic team es excellent. Rume is a star and conjured up amazing wines and cocktails. Totally recommended and do support this fantastic restaurant

Located in the Custard factory so you know it’s going to be creative / alternative and it is. Did the In & Out Menu which is 5 courses with my wife having the vegetarian version - all dishes were well presented and very enjoyable. Service was excellent with each course arriving at the ideal time. The cost was as expected for food of this quality. For me this was a taster before I try the full on taster menu so I will be going back & would definitely recommend

A neighbourhood gem! Great value fancy food, beautifully presented. Unique experience. Attentive and friendly service. Our only negative was that it was quiet,with only a handful of other guests, so it lacked a bit of atmosphere and also was very cold, temperature-wise. Loved our evening there! Recommended!

There's so much to like about this place but equally so much which lets it down. The deco is bold, which is fine. But it's all a bit 60 Minute Makeover. I would imagine in low light at night it works fine and comes alive but in the cold light of day at lunch it feels a little sad especially when you're the only diners. I'm also not sure what it is. It's not a high-end, fine-dining experience, the attention to detail isn't there. It's not a buzzy, neighbourhood destination, it's more refined than that. Instead it falls somewhere between the two. All of which is a pity as the food is good and at times very good. I hope it deserves to thrive. Ultimately I would say go. With an open-mind in a big group of you and kick back and have fun. Then it just might make sense. WARNING. They will ask for a deposit when booking, fine. That's becoming standard these days it seems. But what they won't tell You at the time is that is non-refundable (but transferable to another date) even with plenty of notice. Which can never be justified

As it is my 50th birthday tomorrow I decided to treat myself to a meal at the restaurant. I went for the tasting menu and wine flight. I was not disappointed, the food was outstanding and the service was excellent. The whole team were amazing. I thought it was a nice touch that the owner/chef Kray came to the table to deliver the food and explain the dishes. The music was eclectic and had something for everyone. Was my best fine dining experience to date. Looking forward to trying the menu and in the summer.

Started with a very warm welcome and drink in the downstairs lounge, followed by some great snacks. Then upstairs to the table, £45 for the short tasting menu, ridiculous value for this standard of cooking. really great food and I think each dish exceeded the last. Highlights were the pork with massaman curry sauce, the veal sweetbread, and the chocolate, banana & smoked vanilla dessert. Service was professional & personable. Fantastic old fashioned also.

In short - the food was good but the experience itself was underwhelming. We were first greeted and sat in the downstairs bar area where we ordered some drinks and were served some bar snacks. After a while we were seated upstairs - we paid £140 (plus £17.50 service charge) online beforehand for the chefs choice menu, however the wait staff seemed to be unaware of this and we had to inform them we had chosen that after they handed us menus. For starters we had the barbecued prawns and chicken thighs with some bread and butter, all of which were delicious. However, there was then quite a long gap between our starters and mains, and between that we were served the bbq’d flatbread on its own which seemed very random. I would’ve much preferred to be served that with our main course. The main course was also lovely, we were served the fish, the pink fir potatoes, the wild rice, the hispi cabbage and the pork with tomatoes. Both the starters and mains were very enjoyable, however the dessert was very disappointing. We were initially told we would be able to pick our own dessert, however this was not the case and we were instead served a tiny deconstructed rhubarb crumble. It tasted delicious but was gone in two bites. We were expecting another dessert course after seeing the portion size but instead were just handed the after dinner drinks menu. The wait staff were all lovely, however the service didn’t feel very cohesive. The staff didn’t seem like they knew much about the food and unfortunately did not add many positives to the overall experience. When the drinks bill was brought over at the end of the evening, another service charge had been added which we asked to be removed. I am all for tipping wait staff but I could not justify paying another service charge on top of the £17.50 we had already pre-paid for the level of service we received. Overall the experience was fine and we did enjoy ourselves, but when the total cost is over £100 per head we just were expecting a lot more.

My partner booked a table on a whim for my birthday having not eaten here before or know of anyone who has visited before. Anyway the table was booked for 27th of January at 7:30. We paid a deposit/booking fee a few days prior to our booking and was looking forward to a pleasant night out as a couple which we don’t get much time for anymore. On entry we were greeted by a team member who lead us upstairs to the dining area which was small but felt exclusive. (I was overwhelmed) As soon as we had taken our seats a lovely chap poured us both some water of our choice. (Sparkling or still) Then the waitress came over with the menus and took our drinks orders and by the time we said a couple of sentences to each other the drinks were brought over. Now the first few courses were brought over a lovely starter set of anchovies, Parma ham and massive green olives. Looking at the portions we looked at each other thinking we are going to be starving after the 12 courses…… HOW WRONG WERE WE!!!! Every course was as good or if not better than the previous and time just went so quick unfortunately I could have spent all evening there. Having got near the end and finishing off our alcoholic beverages, we unfortunately noticed a bit of raucous from another couple of tables. Now I wouldn’t have mentioned it but as you can see one of those people have left a negative review. They had the same food as myself and my partner and I guess they weren’t impressed but everyone has different tastes, from my opinion 2 tables then decided to team up and complain which I didn’t see the need for. Anyway cost was reasonable for the food and then I thanked all the staff especially the chef she was clearly upset from the other guests and I wanted to give my thanks for the evening. Look forward to visiting again and carry on the good work.

670 Grams-Where the customer is always wrong Jan 2024 If you're going to do anything today please spare 5 minutes to read my honest review following dining in this restaurant on the evening of Saturday 27th Jan, I booked the chefs choice menu for my other halves 30th birthday, we had read good things. about this place and we had been meaning to try it for a while. As we were seated at the restaurant a couple near us were visibly dissatisfied with the food, we overheard them complain that it isn't value for money based on what they had, I'm not one to be swayed by other people's dissatisfaction as everyone has different tastes and expectations, myself and my other half both said we would judge it for ourselves. The first dishes arrived, these were a flat bread, olives, cured meat, prowns and anchovies. The portion size would have been enough for ons person but not for 2 to share. For context there were 5 small slithers of anchovies, 3 prawns, 3 slices of salami and 3 slices of beef with a small pot of olives, the next course came out which was a sirloin steak doused in peppercorn sauce with a tiny portion of potatoes, salad leaves and one shallot each. The food was okay, not brilliant but okay, what surprised me was after this course the waitress asked if we were ready for dessert, bearing in mind this meal was £140 up front I would have expected more, We had a dessert each, which again was okay. Myself and my partner were both dissatisfied with what we had for the money, had I not pald upfront I would not have paid £140 for that meal. I spoke to Rume who is the bar/wine manager and he couldn't apologise enough, we agreed that the food wasn't worth what we had paid and he asked me to email the restaurant and they will refund o partion of my meal. Whilst this was going on, the couple adjacent to us were also having the chefs choice but they had complained of both the quality and quantity. of food. The chef then came out and started to berate the customers, suggesting that the male of the couple had an issue because the food wasn't cooked by a man and branded him chauvinistic. At this point I interjected and informed the chef that both myself and my partner were also disappointed and that a couple prior to us was also disappointed, this was met with "you're only piping up because they have We left the restaurant and exchanged details with this couple as we were both going to complain, that evening whilst the events were still fresh in the memory penned an email to the restaurant as suggested by Rume explaining my dissatisfaction. On the morning of 28th January I received a call from the restaurant, the male was abrupt and didn't formally introduce himself. I had to ask who he was and I was informed that it was intact Kray who I was speaking to. I was hopeful that the owner of the restaurant would be concerned that a number of customers had a negative experience in his restaurant, this wasn't the case. I was met with an argumentative individual who tried to suggest that the food I had consumed was in fact worth £180. I questioned Kray on the events of the night before and that it is supposed to be fine dining and that I had never experienced a chef come out of the kitchen to argue and berate customers, Kray then informed me that this chef was actually his wife. Kray tried to compare his restaurant to a cinema by saying" if you watch a film in the cinema and you don't like it you don't get your money back the difference is this is a £140 meal with a service charge of £17.50 added and not a cinema ticket of £10. Kray really wasn't interested in entertaining a conversation and informed me that "I don't want to sound arrogant but out restaurant was busy, however, the restaurant seats around 10 tables at a time, 3 tables who had the chefs choice all complained, that is atleast 30% of the restaurant who wouldn't return, not factoring in any customers who hadn't complained that wouldn't return.

Sorry guys but the service let you down and the “wine flight” was awful. I came in first, got a drink, service was all good - coat got taken, went upstairs to wait for my pal. She arrived a bit late - nobody downstairs to take her coat - we waited 5 mins downstairs before deciding to just go up and seat ourselves. After dangling her stuff over the back of her chair / not once during the meal did anybody ask if she wanted to put her coat bag and gloves in the cloakroom. Next, we sat for ten minutes unattended only knowing we’ve booked the tasting menu. The first course arrives - nobody has asked if we wanted the wine flight (which we did.) I passive aggressively order the wine flight - my first mistake. £85?! Each?! For that?! Worst “wine flight” I’ve ever had. Where do I start? First, the wine came before each course - SO MUCH SO that we’d almost finished the wine before the food came. Next, nobody explained what the wine was pairing with? The person introducing the wine knew less about wine than I do - embarrassingly. Lastly, you paired mulled wine with crab? That’s not brave it’s just wrong. I’ve paid less for good wine flights which were well paired and beautifully introduced in actual Michelin restaurants. Unfortunately, whilst the food was great - the service was erratic at best and bad at worst. The price of the wine flight blew my mind. I can’t believe you can charge more than £45 per head for that. Learn how to pair wine with food and actually introduce it. Serve it with the course it is meant to be paired with - don’t just randomly bring it out. The food and wine is meant to be a pairing. Not two separate events which do not mesh.

The food here is Delicious! I’ve visited the restaurant a few times now and I really enjoyed the tasting menu on each occasion. The Kray FC is a very tasty. It was a pleasure to see the kitchen and observe the passion effort and skill that goes into the food. I’ve been here with my husband for a special occasion but also with friends. The restaurant is located in the lively custard factory so plenty of places to go before and after dinner.

Went there yesterday for my sons 30th birthday. Thoroughly recommend this place. Friendly staff and very attentive. Food was delicious and I'd highly recommend the beef cap served with a beautiful selection of vegetables. The utensils were very quirky which all added to the experience. We will definitely return. They even provided my son with a birthday card which was a lovely touch.

The overall experience was ok, and that’s mostly based on the reality not quite matching the expectation. The restaurant has a modern, urban vibe which was quite unique, but did feel cold. The service was generally good but we did have to ask for an additional drink instead of being offered one when our glasses were empty. In general the food was good quality. It didn’t set our world on fire except for the roast potatoes, which were the best part of the meal. My crumble was good, but for some reason you get a tiny, teeny portion of custard that was so disappointing considering this is the old custard factory. It was interesting to see the kitchen from your table and the small number of tables meant it didn’t feel crowded or loud, which was good. The price was a little bit high considering all aspects of the food and service.

Lost my grandsons booking but had took his money from his bank as prepaid waitresses didn’t know what to do as only a few tables in this restaurant but owner /head chef stepped in and got us a table at top of stairs if u r a person who likes a decent size portion this is not for you it was a set Sunday lunch menu I had the langoustine starter very tiny gone in 2 mouthfuls roast beef main ok apart from roast potatoes which were rock hard and tasted like frozen ones but dessert was their saviour sticky toffee with a tiny amount of Ice-creamt was divine. Service was a bit slow seeing it only holds a couple of tables loved the decor it’s very eclectic but doesn’t cater for disabled in a wheelchair you obviously couldn’t get upstairs to restaurant but 1 table by the one and only toilet for men women and disabled but then u r away from main restaurant upstairs not child friendly either no children’s menu or anything like that very overpriced for not a lot ok for me as I don’t eat a lot but I know some people have had to go Nando’s or similar after as still starving great if that’s your kind of thing

The waitresses and the chefs were lovely so the three stars is not a reflection on them. I thought that the overall concept was great, very Birmingham themed and the ideas behind the dishes were great - they just didn’t pull through. I felt like the food lacked depth and the flavours just didn’t have that ‘wow’ factor which other Michelin and near-Michelin restaurants with tasting menus have. Some of them were absolutely delicious such as the lobster bisque, while others were very lacklustre and no other dishes really stood out. We paid for the wine flight and while the waitress explained the wine, she did not explain how the selection would complement the flavours of the dish, which is one of the reasons a wine flight is so enjoyable. On one of the courses, the wine did not complement the dish at all (a heavy, almost mulled wine flavour, wine, with a very light prawn dish). I think there is a lot of potential at this restaurant, nothing was bad, it was just average - not what you expect when you spend £110pp.

I had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant and was initially impressed by the excellent food. The flavors were exceptional, and the experience left a positive impact on me. Based on this, I recommended the restaurant to my parents, who are true food enthusiasts, for their 36th anniversary celebration. However, it seems that their experience was a bit of a mixed bag. While some dishes lived up to expectations, there were areas where the food fell short. Naturally concerned, I reached out to the restaurant to share the feedback. Unfortunately, the aftercare and customer service I encountered were far from satisfactory. I was met with rudeness, dismissiveness, and a shocking lack of empathy from the staff. Instead of addressing the concerns and valuing the feedback, I felt humiliated and bullied for daring to express my thoughts. It's disheartening when an establishment fails to acknowledge shortcomings and resorts to such unprofessional behavior. My parents' anniversary celebration should have been a memorable experience, but the poor customer service tarnished the entire occasion. The absence of an apology and the disrespectful attitude only added to the disappointment. I hope the restaurant takes these comments seriously and takes steps to improve both their customer service and the consistency of their culinary offerings. Every diner deserves to feel respected and heard, regardless of their feedback.

A passionate fusion and representation of Birmingham cultural cuisine that definitely comes from the heart. From start to finish, we had an amazing time and enjoyed some of the best food and wine ever. Don't miss the popcorn old fashioned. Food cannot be faulted. However, we paid £70 and £75 respectively, one for a wine pairing and one for a drinks pairing. My friend was disappointed she actually got a wine pairing with one sub. We were both disappointed that every pairing felt confused and just didn't go, to the point it actually took away from the food. I was a 4 star until I offered feedback at the end and just felt really uncomfortable. So; great food stick to your own choice of drinks!

What an experience! A MUST for anyone living in or coming to Birmingham. Chef Kray Treadwell is a jewel in Birmingham's crown of food fusion. Not one part of our 18-COURSE tasting menu was lacking. Me and my Husband ate here a few weeks ago at the chef's table. What an amazing experience! All the dishes were well thought out and delicious, paired perfectly with non-alcoholic drinks. Amazing that Birmingham has yet Another Fantastic Michelin * restaurant to add to the list but if I’m totally Honest I prefer Carter’s of Mosley and find that the service is to a better standard and the atmosphere is a lot better but the Food is on Par with each other! I just think the Staff need a little more training and to be more Funky and to speak to the Clients more and it would be nice for The owner to have a chat too while your there, but the internal of this fantastic building is cool and it’s worth a visit..

Our second visit..2 years apart. Took my husband and daughter there for his special birthday and was an amazing experience yet again. The food was incredible and was a taste explosion in the mouth...service was exceptional. The wine list was better than last time and could not be faulted. We were also lucky enough to sit at the chefs table and it was a privilege to see how the the food was cooked and created plus the banter with the owner and staff was worth the money by it self. Highly Recommended....great food across the 10 courses....we even had an additional one thrown in for good measure. Excellent service and a good rapport with the waiters and chefs. Interesting design and layout. Really enjoyable night out. One slight comment would be that the wine list could be extended slightly and also have some spirits besides gin. Looking forward to myin next visit. Second visit .. excellent last time...incredible this time. How can can it get better? Truly a a fantastic dining experience. Highly recommended. Service excellent and the wine list looks great...wine and champagne we had had was top drawer this time so no complaints at all this time...and the the spirits and cocktails were spot on. A Fantastic and very quirky place. We were encouraged to graffitti the walls in the toilet with the permanent marker pens that are available. 👍😝 Definitely well worth a visit.
