Ju Ju's Cafe in Birmingham

I visited Juju's in early evening, looking for somewhere nice to have a glass of wine and a small meal prior to going to a gig at the Utilita Arena. I'd done some basic research on this because, as a solo woman, I needed to find a place where I would feel welcome and at ease. What a fine decision this was! Warm welcome, lovely wine (dry French Rosé), excellent food (home-made ratatouille bruschetta) and great ambience. Thoroughly recommended.

Great location on the canal, great food and a lovely welcome. Visited on Sunday for Brunch based on a recommendation, and was not disappointed. Julie was very welcoming and a great host. Endless cups of tea and coffee to help us recover from a heavy night out, and we were not rushed to leave, which was great as the weather was not as welcoming!

What a gem. I can't believe we have never been here before. Looking forward to our next visit. Fantastic food, friendly efficient staff and gorgeous little dog.

Visited to celebrate our Julia’s birthday. We were made to feel so very welcome by all staff from the moment we walked in. Until the moment we left. We loved the quirky decor which made for a relaxed and friendly environment. We had eggs royal and full English breakfast. The portions were generous and the ingredients high quality. Julia even surprised us with a delicious birthday cake and candles for our Julia. We also enjoyed meeting the ‘security’ dogs, Oscar, and his companion! Thank you so much for making our Julia’s day so very special - we’ll certainly be back on our next visit to Birmingham.

Visited with friends, great atmosphere, really friendly staff and gorgeous food. Loved the little security dog too - very cute. A thoroughly enjoyable experience.

We ate here on the 6th October, it was a fab experience. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The staff were friendly and efficient. We had the Sunday Roast, which was delicious , as was the cheesecake for dessert. I love this place, the whole experience was delightful Thank you

This place is an absolute gem. The vegan breakfast was absolutely gorgeous so fresh and absolutely delicious- and I’m not even vegan! The staff are so friendly without being in your face it’s a beautiful atmosphere. Really cannot recommend enough.

Really lovely place to eat. Food was pleasant but main positive was actually the great atmosphere and service, which was probably the friendliest I’ve had in Birmingham. Location right by the canal is also a bonus.

The atmosphere in this café is truly delightful. From the moment we walked in, the two ladies, who I believe are the owners, were incredibly warm and welcoming. Their friendliness and the cozy ambiance they’ve created really set this café apart from the more mainstream spots in Birmingham—it feels like a home away from home. The coffee and Eggs Benedict were absolutely delicious, and I’m excited to try more from their menu. A charming touch is their well-behaved dog, who politely sits on a chair, greeting every customer as they arrive. The outdoor seating area is a great addition, with umbrellas for shade and blankets available if it gets chilly. They have a lovely view of the canals. Overall, it’s a wonderfully inviting place that I’ll definitely visit again and happily recommend to everyone I know.

This is an absolute gem of a cafe! The outside seating area with the view of the canal is wonderful. The breakfast was delicious and the staff were so friendly and inviting and to top it off there is a cute doggy named Oscar that loves rubs 😍

We had a lovely time dining at Ju Ju's. Both the fish pie and fish&chips were very tasty and well prepared with large portions. The owners were very friendly and welcoming.

The most welcoming hostess’s I’ve ever come across. We needed a gluten free option due to one of us being celiac. They went through the menu and let us know what we could have and assured us that there would be no cross contamination ( which is actually quite hard to come by) my fiancée had the gluten free fish and chips which was superb. I had the beef Yorkshire which was just to die for. Food was incredible and the booze was top-notch. Couldn’t recommend enough!

I have not been to JuJu's for a couple of years so thought it would be nice for a friend and I to go there for Sunday lunch. We arrived a little early which was not a problem. The greeting was really friendly and welcoming. The owner Julia, joined us at our table for a catchup and her daughter Beatrice also stopped by to say 'hi'...The atmosphere was relaxed (the music was chilled), the service was faultless and the food tasty. We were not rushed to pack up and leave even though they had closed, instead we were encouraged to finish our conversation and leave at our leisure. Overall, the service was just as I remembered it to be a couple of years ago...personable, warm and welcoming with good food. I would definately recommend JuJu's and personally not leave it so long for a return visit.

Five of us had an early evening meal here prior to going to see Peter Kay. Peter Kay was fantastic as was the food and service in Ju Ju’s. All five of us enjoyed our meals. Meaty platters, Shepherds Pies and Beef were all excellent. The two ladies who served us our food and drinks were also good fun. We’ll definitely be back.

Fantastic independent venue, right on the edge of the canal. The service was friendly and helpful but the food was amazing. Would definitely recommend if going to Birmingham’s NIA, Sealife etc.

Whatever the event Ju Ju’s can pretty much look after you. Revisit for one of their Sunday roasts. I was looking forward to it for 3 days. When I sat down they let me know about the specials that day. Boy, I had a massive decision to make. I went with the roast. I've always told people their style of cooking is like getting a hug. It's like sitting in a living room and surrounded by loved ones. Past and present.

Three friends visited Ju Ju's for the first time for breakfast on a Saturday. And I have to say what a wonderful experience!!! The food was extremely well presented and tasted great. It was also good value. The cafe has a great location on the canal and so we sat outside. Inside the cafe there is a fabulous interior. So funky, imaginative and creative. Julia and her staff are also extremely friendly and professional. Definitely the best place I have had breakfast in Birmingham!!!

We had a private hire of JuJus bar for a joint party. Julia and Beatrice were great at helping us plan in the lead up to the evening. Nothing was too much trouble. On the night we had 65 guests - it was a perfect environment so everyone could chat, eat and drink. The chefs and bar team were amazing friendly and efficient. Everyone at the party commented on how good the food was. So much of it too !! Very few people had been to the venue before but all said they would def return. 8 of us returned for breakfast the next morning - it was busy but we were served quickly and brunch was fresh, great quality and good sized portions. Coffee was very much needed and tasted delicious. Julia/Beatrice we cannot thank your team enough for all your care, we have made some great memories with family and friends.

We went on a warm evening and sat outdoors. We loved the location in a small square with canal views. The food was delicious and served by friendly staff. We shared cheese boards for starters with a gorgeous home-made chutney. Some of us had belly pork, others had the prawn in garlic sauce (a starter) with chunky chips as their main. Two of us shared a gigantic meringue dish with cream, fruit and a balsamic glaze - yummy! Would definitely recommend.

Amazing brunch spot! We had a big group of people come in just before us so there was a bit of a wait for the food, but the staff were very attentive and were constantly checking up on us. They even offered some blankets since it was chilly outside. I've had the creamy scrambled eggs on toast with smoked salmon and it was out of this world, thank you so much for accommodating us! Oh and the Brummy Mary is one of the best we've had, definitely get a big jug of it when you visit.

Had a wonderful late breakfast served by Julie herself! A lovely lady serving great food along the canal. We had the Croque Madame and split it, at her suggestion. It's a very generous portion, nice ham, and 2 eggs on top. Her scones looked good, but sadly had no room to try them! So we will definitely be back! Attentive staff and a relaxed conversation with Julie. Fun art and whimsical signs in the two room inside seating. Highly recommend it!

My boyfriend and I have just moved locally to JuJu's and thought we would try out the cafe after multiple recommendations. What a lovely spot overlooking the canals with outdoor seating and a lovely welcome. Juju and the team were so friendly from the get go and the food was delish! We had the veggie hash and beef/eggs dish and both were fresh and portion sizes huge. Such a lovely spot for a lazy Sunday morning, so good we stayed for 3 hours after multiple coffees! We will be back

Cute little cafe, great location, however had the egg benedict with smoked salmon and for 12£ I was really disappointed to be honest, the salmon was drenched in lemon for some reason and that was the only thing I could taste pretty much, coffee was ok, service was ok-ish. Would recommend going somewhere else for a proper brunch and better prices, this is nice for pictures only in my opinion, but then again they serve many different dishes so to each their own

Beautiful food, great portion sizes, great service, nice view of the canal, reasonable value and lovely being checked on but the owner and staff. A wonderful experience, highly recommend.

I've been here twice in recent months. Lovely location, decent service. But the breakfasts are too expensive for the quality of the cooking and quantity of ingredients. The poach eggs were poor (whites under cooked) the mushrooms were unseasoned and very oily and the portion of smoked salmon pretty stingy. I thought I'd give it a second chance... but I think I'll probably stick to a coffee in the sun next to the canal next time.

Wow just wow if you are ever in the area you need to check out Ju Ju’s Service is excellent no request is too much and food to die for, had Sunday roast couldn’t recommend it enough really filling and portion sizes great. Also being next to a canal the view is great option of outside seating is a bonus

Went to Ju Ju's Cafe for breakfast following a stay in Birmingham and its was lovely. The cafe is in a great location by the canal. Great atmosphere, food was top notch and the service was fast and extremely friendly. Would definitely recommend and will be back next time i am in Birmingham.

I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with my recent visit to your restaurant on Sunday. Unfortunately, my girlfriend and I had an extremely disappointing experience that will ensure we never return. Given your location close to our home, we decided to try Juju Cafe, but this proved to be a significant mistake. After waiting 10 minutes without any service, I had to approach a waiter myself to place an order. The waiter informed me that service was slow due to being short-staffed, despite there being only 5 or 6 other occupied tables at the time. Eventually, we were able to place our order, with the waitress indicating a 30-minute wait, which is acceptable during busy times, though it was notably quiet. My girlfriend, who is diabetic, injected her insulin after 20 minutes, expecting our food to arrive soon. However, we ended up waiting over 50 minutes. During this time, her blood sugar dropped, and we struggled to communicate our urgent need for juice to the staff, highlighting a serious lack of health and safety training. When the food finally arrived nearly an hour later, it was not worth the wait. The dishes were shockingly poor in quality and value. One piece of cauliflower with cheese for £5.50, prawn on toast with only three small prawns for £9, and vegetables that appeared to be days old were simply unacceptable. The roast dinner served in a soup plate for nearly £20 was laughable, and the £3.50 charge for a small pot of gravy was outrageous. The total bill came to £68.50 for what was one of the worst dining experiences we have ever had. To add insult to injury, a service charge was automatically added, despite the fact that I had to actively seek service for ordering, juice, and paying the bill. The service provided was minimal and far from timely. Overall, Juju Cafe seems more focused on maximizing income than providing a worthwhile dining experience. The food quality, presentation, and pricing were highly disappointing. I hope you address these issues to prevent other customers from having similar experiences.

The people who run this are lovely. I came in before they opened and they made me a takeaway bacon sandwich even though they weren't open yet. The sandwich was generous and good quality.

The food was excellent and the staff were very friendly. The food took quite a while to arrive but it was freshly cooked so was worth waiting for. The menu is wide and varied so there is lots of choice. I would definitely recommend visiting Ju Ju's if you are in Birmingham

Excellent home cooked food I ordered the Vegan Sunday roast which I really really enjoyed. My friend had the slow cooked brisket with roasted potatoes and seasonal vegetables. Side order of vegan cauliflower cheese and mash potatoes. Which we throughly enjoyed. Compliments to the chef and the waiting staff 10 of 10. We will be back

I've visited with my daughters after an event at the Utilita Arena and attracted by the gluten-free options on the menu (my youngest daughter is coeliac). It's a shame as we went in full of high expectations based on reviews, but left with disappointment. The food took well over an hour to arrive and when I asked for the reason, I was told it was due to staff on vacation. Fortunately my daughters behaved as children can get even more restless when hungry! We arrived at approximately 1:40pm and left at almost 4pm at the end. The order at the table next to us got mixed up but as the lady was really frustrated, she accepted what she had been given, despite being the wrong order. She gave very valuable feedback in a polite manner. Another table had some complaints too and also offered some constructive feedback to the staff and the manager. I may understand the generalised lack of staff, but I'd suggest keeping customers informed if there are (significant) delays to the food or at least offer some compensation. Nobody likes being ignored, especially when food is not cheap. Hopefully the advice given today will be taken on board.

I've been twice and both experiences were lack luster, mainly the food. Scrambled egg was so dry and tastless. The second time I got pancakes which were a very small portion for the price and they were kind chewy and seemed like they were microwaved or something. My partner loved it tho so there's maybe I just got the wrong things.

Having Juju's nearby is an absolute gem! A nice cafe by the canals. The ambience is cozy and the food is the bomb. Happy to be back.

Melt away in this canal side gem run by the fabulous Ju Ju herself, as beautiful and flamboyant as the food she serves and the restaurant it is served in. Pop in to catch Ju Ju and her little doggo mate Oscar! Service is amazing, staff are so polite and cheerful. This place is a true credit to our beautiful city Brum. Can not recommend highly enough. Ju Ju's is one of those rare gems that show what great food cooked with love and care is all about. Independent and in a great setting on the canal the service and food is amazing Sunday lunch and breakfast are cooked as if you're at home. A must visit if you live in Birmingham or visiting.

Wonderful afternoon of delicious food and outstanding service at Jujus. I had Thai Fish Cakes for starters - deliciously tangy - an explosion of taste with hints of the Far East - followed by baked salmon with lovely fluffy buttery mash, fresh vegetables and hollandaise sauce. Glorious! For dessert I indulged in homemade bread and butter pudding and custard, with a minor marmalade tone, which was exquisite. We also enjoyed copious amounts of delicious Italian Prosecco. Sending thanks to all the team at Juju’s for a splendid dining experience and the wonderfully warm welcome extended to us all.

We were a bunch of 3 friends who wanted to have a nice brunch. We chose Juju cafe and we should say that we had a lovely time . We spent almost 5 hours there. Juju is the chef and she is absolutely amazing. She came across as a cool, vibrant person and the staffs were hospitable. We had a vegan and vegetarian brunch menu with a range of coffee options. The scrambled eggs were wonderful. I would highly recommend this place for people to have leisure time with good food

I had a lovely lunch in this cozy cafe not far from the main canal. It's a quiet and strategic location, great choice of food both for breakfast or lunch/brunch. Definitely recommended :)

Had such a disappointing visit this sunday. The reservation got mixed up and given to someone else, our food took over an hour to arrive and they had run out of half of the menu, no one checked in to see if the meals were okay, what we ordered was flavourless and if it had flavour it didn't taste good. I ordered what sounded like a shakshuka but was burnt toast, half of a half of avocado and some sesame based sauce. This is the worst meal I had out in years. No attempts were made to rectify or compensate for any of the above.

We used to be regulars at JuJus and I’d recommend it to everyone and anyone in the area. Jujus is owned by a mother and daughter, a true family business! Both Julia and Beatrice are absolute angels who will help you out and treat you to sparkling conversation. The food is exquisite. I’ve never had anything on the menu which wasn’t well thought out and beautifully balanced out. Portions are generous too! I’ve always found the desserts to be the best part. When JuJus runs events such as painting or murder dinners, they are always a lot of fun. They’re worth attending! Finally, the interior is funky and different. I love how the windows look out onto the canal, and how each wall is decorated with something cool. A Birmingham gem.

We visited Ju JU's café on 15/02/2024, and it surpassed expectations. There was a lovely vibe in the café as we entered and the waitress was great and cared for a member of the parties allergen needs. The food was amazing and would highly recommend. Will be back soon to try the breakfast!

Last minute booking last night. Great location, lovely relaxed venue. Great solid cooking, good portions really well executed. Food was tremendous. Service was almost even better and made the evening. Our waitress was attentive and knew the food and menu really well. Loved our first visit to Jujus and certainly won't be the last. Can't recommend highly enough. Prawns and pork belly were standouts.
