We've had a lovely time on Sunday, booked for my mum's birthday who was treated to a complimentary bubbly which was a lovely touch. The food was great too, although if I want to be super honest the pork belly was a tiny bit dry compare to some of our other meals we've had at the pub. The staff was super attentive, welcoming and friendly.

Very nice pub in the middle of the common! Food is very decent and the place has a great beer garden for the nice days and a cozy interior for the colder days.

The Sunday roast was marvellous and so was the fish and chips. Katrina our server was amazing and her vibe definitely matched the Sunday. A great experience with the family.

Staying at Young’s Windmill hotel was a total delight and part of my wonderful stay whilst in London/ Clapham. This Iconic Pub on Clapham Common Standing proudly (and rather prettily) on Clapham Common is our iconic pub – haven for the hungry, the weary and those with a powerful thirst. Renowned locally (far-and-wide too) for being a bang-on pub for meeting up with pals for a decent pint, for flipping fantastic food, and for being super dog-friendly – of course. Not only all that (and that is a lot) but we also have 42 eclectic, boutique-y bedrooms too. Handily located a 5 minute stroll from Clapham Common and Clapham South tube stations, you can hit the shops, the West End, or any of the other London-y sights lickety-split. Whether it’s a family 3-course sit down meal, supping on perfectly-poured pints or cosying up fireside with a glass of red (or a bloody good Bloody Mary), we look forward to having you at the best pub in Clapham (in local Danny’s opinion, that is). Landlord Ben (plus pub dog Monty) look forward to welcoming you in soon for a drink, something to eat, and a work-or-play stay. Update May 2025- we liked the windmill so much we came back! They have gluten free fish batter! No pub ever has this so I lept at the opportunity. I do feel a bit sorry for the fish. Imagine if it could know it's gunna end up covered in gluten free batter, then eaten by a coeliac. It's not how I would want to go!

Nice pub with seats in the sun. Food was fine and they had a decent selection of drinks.

Had a Sunday dinner last weekend and it was fine. The service really just let it down. We had to ask multiple times for gravy & sauces. Unfortunately i wasn’t able to cut the roast beef so had to request a steak knife. The rest of the food was lovely and the staff were friendly - it’s just unfortunate the actual service let it down. I love the Windmill, it’s a great spot so I would totally recommend a visit but expect a super casual experience

If like me you’ve wanted to try the windmill roast for some time, save yourself a trip and go elsewhere. Unfortunately, one of the worst roasts I’ve ever had… overcooked Yorkshire, rock hard potatoes and not even sure how to begin to describe the roast chicken. A shame as the restaurant/staff are nice but I’d recommend avoiding the roast dinner at all costs.

Clapham is a bit far out for me, so I will rarely visit. I am really glad we did. As always, I do a Google search, read some blogs, and make a decision. The Windmill was highly reviewed, so it seemed like a no-brainer. Our meal was fantastic. From start to finish, everything was perfectly cooked. I'm not a huge fan of lamb, but I was a huge fan of this lamb. I will be back!

Absolutely awful experience. Booked a table for 12, we had one extra guest that unexpectedly joined us. We asked for one extra chair for a table that could very easily accommodate a few extra chairs, and we were rudely refused. Told that there were no chairs in the whole building available- despite many quite obviously free on other tables that were not at capacity. The manager was so rude and so unhelpful. It left a very sour taste in our mouths. Will not be coming back.

This review is long overdue! Our stay at The Windmill Clapham was truly unforgettable, and there’s so much to share about this wonderful establishment. My wife and I stayed at The Windmill for seven days during the Christmas holiday to New Year’s, celebrating our wedding and honeymoon. We also had a friend stay for two nights to attend our reception, along with many family members and friends who joined us. The hotel was incredibly accommodating, providing ample space for our reception. The communication and service in the months leading up to our event were timely and concise, making the planning process smooth and stress-free. The value for the price was very fair, considering the number of people attending and staying on-site. The food at our reception was piping hot and delicious, served promptly and with care. Throughout our week-long stay leading up to the big day, we enjoyed a complimentary hot breakfast every morning. We tried everything on the menu, and every dish was served fresh and tasted amazing. Afternoon drinks at the pub were also a highlight—whether we were relaxing in the snug or at one of the cozy pub tables. Ordering food and drinks via the Young’s app made the experience even more convenient, allowing us to enjoy service directly to our table or room. A special mention goes to the entire staff, who took exceptional care of us throughout our stay. Their attentiveness and warm hospitality truly made our experience memorable. We originally chose The Windmill because of its great location and the unforgettable sticky toffee pudding we had tried months before—and we’re so glad we did! The reception went better than we could have ever imagined, and we’re incredibly grateful to The Windmill Clapham for making our special day so perfect. TLDR; Great service, amazing food

Fantastic meal and service, we have been many times and it has always been outstanding.

Pasé aquí a almorzar, mientras estaba en un descanso del trabajo. Tenía una baguette de pollo caliente con aguacate y un pedazo de pastel de terciopelo rojo. La calidad de baguette era mala. Casi nada de pollo o aguacate, baguette se cortó mal así que no hay relleno en los extremos solo pan seco. Baguette se cortó por la mitad, había suficiente relleno para llenar la mitad. El pastel de terciopelo rojo estaba seco y duro como una roca. Nada como un pastel debe ser que sea ligero y esponjoso. Por el precio muy mala calidad.

Excelente ubicación, pero horrible café. Hicimos una queja sobre los horribles pasteles. Teníamos un pastel de plátano y nuez y un pastel de zanahoria. Ambos estaban secos e insípidos. Los cafés eran casi tan pobres. El café claramente prospera debido a su gran ubicación, pero el esfuerzo mínimo parece haber ido a la satisfacción del cliente.

We came for a festive lunch, a big group and we were so well looked after. Lisa was fab, she catered to our very need and made us feel welcome.

I went with my colleagues for a Christmas meal last week and our table was taken care of by Lucy who was very attentive and great!

Stayed mid December for 3 nights. Great room. Bonus to have free parking on site. We didn’t have breakfast so can’t comment on that. The Windmill is a popular pub - Grade 2 listed, and it has a nice comfortable atmosphere. We had dinner 1 night which was perfectly ok but nothing extraordinary. Vegan burger was bland and a bit disappointing. Fish and chips was good but could have done with a few more chips on the plate. Pub location is great and only a short walk from the tube. Overall a nice stay but room for improvement with the food.

Great Sunday lunch at The Windmill with fan service from Tommy - whose recommendations were excellent - and Katrina - whose sense of humour made our experience.

Me and my group arrived with only 15 mins to spare before the kitchen closed, and we were very lucky to be served. Our server Katrina couldn’t have been more accommodating, her service was fantastic. The food we had was great, we especially liked the pork belly and chicken liver parfait. There was a great atmosphere in the pub in general, and would highly recommend for a late night dinner any time.

Had the best dinner ever!! Samuel really took care of us! His service was the best I had seen in England! Will be back!

Fantastic Sunday roast Really really good Lovely staff!

I have been for food before and it was amazing. Sadly, this time was slightly underwhelming. Clearly a lazy chef for today as mushy peas & curry sauce bland and stone cold. Two simple things that should be possible to get right. All staff were lovely and will definitely still give another try as could just be a bad day.

Booked in for 2 nights with my dog - enjoyed room so much that I've ended up booking an additional night. Located close enough to Clapham for transport to be easily, but also right in Heath making it feel like you're not in the city at all. Also thought room was really lovely and housekeeping was excellent. My dog got a little doggy bundle with fancy treats and chews so I'm not convinced I'll be able to get him to leave...

Recently moved to the area and went into the pub for a quick refreshing pint. James the Barman was very helpful and even asked me if I had any allergies which was very thoughtful! We also share the same name which is strange yet fun!

I recently visited The Windmill Pub in Clapham and had a fantastic experience. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with a great selection of drinks and delicious food. A special shoutout to James Taylor, one of the bar staff, who made the visit even better. He was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, ensuring everyone felt taken care of. His exceptional service added a personal touch to the evening. Highly recommend visiting The Windmill and asking for James if you want top-notch service!

Me tomé un sándwich de queso tostado y una lata de coca que me costó 8 libras. 00 p.m. Tomó casi media hora antes de que me dieron mi sándwich y bebida y eso fue después de tener que preguntar al personal de servicio donde estaba mi pedido. La gente que vino después de mí y pidió un desayuno cocinero fue servida antes que yo. ¿Cómo pudo pasar eso? El personal de servicio que tuve que preguntar sobre mi pedido tenía una actitud. Las chicas que sirven necesitan dar un paso atrás y deben aprender a hablar con los clientes de una manera adecuada. Evita los precios extorsivos y trae tu propio picnic, mucho más barato!

Great location next to the Commons and public transport options . So convenient to go for early morning walks and then stop for a coffee and or breakfast close by or at the Windmill which does a great. Breakfast.

We came for dinner this week and in all honesty, I think the food is very over priced, especially the Vegan dishes. There was no Aubergine in my main dish in which Aubergine was lusted as the main ingredient, which was very misleading and disappointing and the other dishes were just very over priced for what was served. The service was lovely, hence my score of 3 stars.

Nos sentamos afuera bajo la cubierta del cenador que necesitaba sombra del sol demasiado raro, disfrutando de preparaciones perfectas de Birchall's English Breakfast Tea, cerdo tirado con salsa de manzana en baguette caliente, baguette caliente estilo Deli de Nueva York (pastorami, pepinillo, piccalilli) y dos flapjacks. Inmejorable en un día soleado.

Great pub, ace location and loads of space, both inside and out. Outside especially is so good on a nice day, different areas, with cover if you want it. Even a cabin like place with a TV for Euros viewing, loved it. The staff are great, it has a really friendly, casual atmosphere and as a plus, bar snack sausage rolls are epic 😋

We had an excellent meal and lovely time at the windmill! Maxence was our waiter and the standard of service was impeccable. I would highly recommend this pub and say hello to Monty. All in all excellent place to visit in Clapham.

Do not put a table in front of the toilets, especially in a place with as high a customer turnover as the Windmill. The food is subpar so only drink at the Windmill.

It was my second time at the Windmill pub. As my first time was when I came to sit outside for drinks in the beer garden outside. I loved the atmosphere then, so for Fathers Day yesterday booked my visit again. The experience was nice and loved the dinning inside and the food was great and drinks were good too. We were looked after well with booking and any questions we had. As I am local I will come here again.

Lovely Pub and even better staff, I was served by Lola who was so friendly and welcoming. The service from her especially was outstanding, I will certainly be coming back. Boshhhh

This pub is also one of the entrances to the hotel and we loved having beer and aperoles here. We stayed at the hotel for many days and I must say that despite some messiness, we felt very good. A hotel in the park, the room is very spacious with a view of the green, plenty of space to store luggage, sofa, chair, 2 desks, large and ventilated bathroom, good shower. The messiness, that although they changed the towels every day and the bed linen once a week, they did not clean the floor deeply, the bathroom floor was uneven and damp, there is a leak next to a wall, but we felt very Good during our stay and we have the firm intention of returning. And 2 years later, 2024, we returned. We feel very good at the Windmill

Burger shack is incredibly overpriced. Tasteless and burnt. Chips were good.

I want to make sure I don't forget this: Even though they claim to be dog-friendly, our experience with my friend was terrible. We brought our adorable pup there, and they encouraged my friend to give the pup a treat, only to then ask for money. To make matters worse, they displayed free treats and then accused us of taking too many. It's a disgrace that they would make such a fuss over a few small treats and treat their customers rudely. It's a local spot that we used to enjoy, but we're disappointed to have to remove it from our list.

This place is meant to be “dog friendly”, I just got told off by the security guy for taking more than one single treat for my pup. It’s worth mentioning that the treats are tiny. He made me put them all back and only keep ONE, talking to me like I was stealing. The bar tender told me to help myself to the treats only for the security guy to tell me off in an extremely rude way. Please don’t bring your pup here.

We went to the windmill and had a great experience. Really personable staff, wonderful location on the Common and the perfect place to spend a summers day or winter evening. Fraser was the highlight of our visit!

Visited for Sunday Roast. Majorly dissapointing; chicken and roast potatoes were dry, Vegetables tough and barely cooked and gravy tasted like sour wine. The stuffing was so salty to the point it was not edible. Unfortunately not much redeemable on the plate. Service was slow but not the end of the world as you would expect from a busy place. Tried to order Aperol and lemonade and was told that it was impossible for them to charge for and that my friend and I would have to pay pull price for Aperol Spritz despite explaining we do not want Prosecco. Perhaps something to look into getting a button for on the till, etc.

Food wasn't bad and the conservatory bit of the restaurant is nice and light but the service was really poor. There was a staff meeting when we arrived and nobody came to greet us or show us to the table I'd booked (on walking in my friend thought it wasn't open yet). Drinks orders weren't taken for ages, didn't have enough cutlery and nobody checked how the food was. We were also a table with 8 babies as met at a bump and baby club and got asked if we wanted to push tables together, rather than a table being ready in accordance with my booking. Someone cleaned cutlery really loudly next to the prams as well when the restaurant is huge so could have been done elsewhere rather than keeping babies awake/ waking them.

Great service and food. A real treasure on Clapham Common, especially during the summer. I was served by Tom in the restaurant who recommended the ginger pig rump steak which was amazing. Will definitely be coming back.

Bought a chicken and pesto baguette . Chicken appeared to me to undercooked/ partially raw ( see photo ) Real shame as I’ve eaten here a number of times but shan’t be again.

Very expensive, food is good but plates are quite small. Service was mediocre but the place is lovely.
