I have been for food before and it was amazing. Sadly, this time was slightly underwhelming. Clearly a lazy chef for today as mushy peas & curry sauce bland and stone cold. Two simple things that should be possible to get right. All staff were lovely and will definitely still give another try as could just be a bad day.

Booked in for 2 nights with my dog - enjoyed room so much that I've ended up booking an additional night. Located close enough to Clapham for transport to be easily, but also right in Heath making it feel like you're not in the city at all. Also thought room was really lovely and housekeeping was excellent. My dog got a little doggy bundle with fancy treats and chews so I'm not convinced I'll be able to get him to leave...

Recently moved to the area and went into the pub for a quick refreshing pint. James the Barman was very helpful and even asked me if I had any allergies which was very thoughtful! We also share the same name which is strange yet fun!

I recently visited The Windmill Pub in Clapham and had a fantastic experience. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with a great selection of drinks and delicious food. A special shoutout to James Taylor, one of the bar staff, who made the visit even better. He was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, ensuring everyone felt taken care of. His exceptional service added a personal touch to the evening. Highly recommend visiting The Windmill and asking for James if you want top-notch service!

I went to the Windmill Tea room on the 27thAugust 2024. I had a toasted cheese sandwich and a can of coke which cost me £8.00p. It took nearly half and hour before I got my sandwich and drink and that was after having to ask the serving staff where my order was. People who came in after me and ordered a cook breakfast were served before me. How could that happen? Serving Staff that I had to ask about my order had an attitude. The serving girls need to take a step back and they need to learn to speak to Customers in an appropriate manner. Avoid extortionate prices and bring your own picnic, so much cheaper!!!!

Great location next to the Commons and public transport options . So convenient to go for early morning walks and then stop for a coffee and or breakfast close by or at the Windmill which does a great. Breakfast.

Had a great lunch experience earlier this week at The Windmill - meal was delicious and great service from Hannah. Will definitely be coming back!

Restaurant has a lovely outside section, we ordered the trout and it was simply delicious. Was given amazing service from Maxence. Definitely recommend!

We came for dinner this week and in all honesty, I think the food is very over priced, especially the Vegan dishes. There was no Aubergine in my main dish in which Aubergine was lusted as the main ingredient, which was very misleading and disappointing and the other dishes were just very over priced for what was served. The service was lovely, hence my score of 3 stars.

Favorite pub in Clapham! Great food and great service. Taye helped us the night of the euros finals and helped ease the absolute chaos that was game day!! Through out the night she was so kind and helpful. Would recommend :)

Having cycled round Wimbledon Common, Putney Heath and Wimbledon Village we were in desperate need of some hearty lunch. The Windmill Tea Rooms didn't disappoint. We sat outside under the gazebo cover needing shade from the all too rare sun, enjoying perfect brews of Birchall's English Breakfast Tea, pulled pork with apple sauce on warm baguette, New York Deli style warm baguette ( pastrami, gherkin, piccalilli) and two flapjacks. Unbeatable on a sunny day.

Great pub, ace location and loads of space, both inside and out. Outside especially is so good on a nice day, different areas, with cover if you want it. Even a cabin like place with a TV for Euros viewing, loved it. The staff are great, it has a really friendly, casual atmosphere and as a plus, bar snack sausage rolls are epic 😋

We had an excellent meal and lovely time at the windmill! Maxence was our waiter and the standard of service was impeccable. I would highly recommend this pub and say hello to Monty. All in all excellent place to visit in Clapham.

Do not put a table in front of the toilets, especially in a place with as high a customer turnover as the Windmill. The food is subpar so only drink at the Windmill.

It was my second time at the Windmill pub. As my first time was when I came to sit outside for drinks in the beer garden outside. I loved the atmosphere then, so for Fathers Day yesterday booked my visit again. The experience was nice and loved the dinning inside and the food was great and drinks were good too. We were looked after well with booking and any questions we had. As I am local I will come here again.

Lovely Pub and even better staff, I was served by Lola who was so friendly and welcoming. The service from her especially was outstanding, I will certainly be coming back. Boshhhh

Stopped for drinks only but it's a lovely situated pub to stay for a relaxing drink. Great service.

This pub is also one of the entrances to the hotel and we loved having beer and aperoles here. We stayed at the hotel for many days and I must say that despite some messiness, we felt very good. A hotel in the park, the room is very spacious with a view of the green, plenty of space to store luggage, sofa, chair, 2 desks, large and ventilated bathroom, good shower. The messiness, that although they changed the towels every day and the bed linen once a week, they did not clean the floor deeply, the bathroom floor was uneven and damp, there is a leak next to a wall, but we felt very Good during our stay and we have the firm intention of returning. And 2 years later, 2024, we returned. We feel very good at the Windmill

Burger shack is incredibly overpriced. Tasteless and burnt. Chips were good.

I want to make sure I don't forget this: Even though they claim to be dog-friendly, our experience with my friend was terrible. We brought our adorable pup there, and they encouraged my friend to give the pup a treat, only to then ask for money. To make matters worse, they displayed free treats and then accused us of taking too many. It's a disgrace that they would make such a fuss over a few small treats and treat their customers rudely. It's a local spot that we used to enjoy, but we're disappointed to have to remove it from our list.

This place is meant to be “dog friendly”, I just got told off by the security guy for taking more than one single treat for my pup. It’s worth mentioning that the treats are tiny. He made me put them all back and only keep ONE, talking to me like I was stealing. The bar tender told me to help myself to the treats only for the security guy to tell me off in an extremely rude way. Please don’t bring your pup here.

We went to the windmill and had a great experience. Really personable staff, wonderful location on the Common and the perfect place to spend a summers day or winter evening. Fraser was the highlight of our visit!

Visited for Sunday Roast. Majorly dissapointing; chicken and roast potatoes were dry, Vegetables tough and barely cooked and gravy tasted like sour wine. The stuffing was so salty to the point it was not edible. Unfortunately not much redeemable on the plate. Service was slow but not the end of the world as you would expect from a busy place. Tried to order Aperol and lemonade and was told that it was impossible for them to charge for and that my friend and I would have to pay pull price for Aperol Spritz despite explaining we do not want Prosecco. Perhaps something to look into getting a button for on the till, etc.

Had an awesome time and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms reminded you of an old country feel. Can't wait to come back

Food wasn't bad and the conservatory bit of the restaurant is nice and light but the service was really poor. There was a staff meeting when we arrived and nobody came to greet us or show us to the table I'd booked (on walking in my friend thought it wasn't open yet). Drinks orders weren't taken for ages, didn't have enough cutlery and nobody checked how the food was. We were also a table with 8 babies as met at a bump and baby club and got asked if we wanted to push tables together, rather than a table being ready in accordance with my booking. Someone cleaned cutlery really loudly next to the prams as well when the restaurant is huge so could have been done elsewhere rather than keeping babies awake/ waking them.

Great service and food. A real treasure on Clapham Common, especially during the summer. I was served by Tom in the restaurant who recommended the ginger pig rump steak which was amazing. Will definitely be coming back.

Bought a chicken and pesto baguette . Chicken appeared to me to undercooked/ partially raw ( see photo ) Real shame as I’ve eaten here a number of times but shan’t be again.

Overpriced. Great location but overpriced. Food was ok but not worth what we paid. Also, £12 for an aperol spritz?? Get outta here.

Experience was nice until we were removed from the table having just brought us dessert drinks because they needed the table for someone else despite there being at least 4+ tables available and no one waiting to sit.

Had a lovely meal with friends in the beautiful dining area. In our group the calve's liver, chicken pie, and vegetarian burger were very highly rated. We also thoroughly enjoyed the cheesecake dessert. Staff were very friendly and efficient. I do wish we weren't asked to move after 10 as they close the area off, and we would have happily had a few more drinks, but I appreciate that requires continuous staffing. Highly recommended

I came for dinner one evening, and I was served by a young waitress called Aaliyah. She was extremely attentive and recommend the Sirloin on the bone sharer for me and my wife which was cooked to perfection. I would highly recommend!

Decent, consistent, not amazing but it's a pub, can't go wrong really. They allow dogs which is nice. Toilets outside look like people pee directly into the toilet paper so use the ones inside

I came with my boyfriend Juan for breakfast one morning, and I was served by the beautiful Mary-Kate. A lovely smile and she made me feel welcomed with the welcoming and warm atmosphere. I had the avocado eggs which was delicious. Thanks to the breakfast girls.

After a long journey this was the perfect way to end the day. Food was very good and Lisa ( the hardest working waitress I have ever seen) was exceptional and went beyond the call of duty to look after us. You have a Jem of an employee there!!!!!!!

One of my favourites when in London. Lovely cosy rooms, dog friendly, great pints and good company with the locals. The common is a huge plus for an early morning workout. Superb accessibility to the city centre on the northern line.

I have been going here solo after walks and dog walks, after hosting forest bathing sessions, 121 business meetings and I always find the food great, staff friendly and helpful.

I've been a few times and therefore this review is not based on a single visit. Every Time I thought the food could be better for the price, the waiters always looked like they didn't want to be there at all. Not friendly, seemingly blind and deaf. Want to call out specially a person that had special circumstances, rude is an understatement, she definitely didn't want be there on the last 2 times we went there to have lunch

I have recently moved into the area and was looking for a new local pub . Beer selection was amazing, reasonably priced and staff very friendly. Had a very engaging chat with bartender Matt who’s ensured I’ll be back. Was great chatting to Chelsea Danny as well! Thank you Matt and the rest of the staff .

We joined for a belated Christmas celebration, and had a 3 course menu to choose from. Honestly, everything was delicious! The star of the show were the Guuiness-Short-Ribs - fell off the bone, we all loved this dish! Potato dauphinoise were a hit, as were the crunchy brussel sprouts! Friendly servers, gave us plenty of time to enjoy our meal (we stayed longer than our allocated time) - so a hit all round!

A truly perfect New Year’s Day lunch - warmly greeted and seated, menu was bursting with great selection of treats from Sunday Roasts to Steaks for 2 ! Staff attentive, fun and engaging. Food delivered piping hot and very tasty . A non rushed lunch with friends in the wonderful Windmill certainly started off 2024 on the right foot !

Decidedly impolite service, food not delivered in cafe and left outside !!!. Then the cold food brought to the table and obviously sent back. Cutlery was unclean and no apologies. Poor food, poor service and poor attitude

We ordered 2 beef roasts. The food arrived cold. The meat was tasty but the rest was awful. Roast potatoes almost inedible. The decor is nice and the staff were friendly but the food in no way deserves the relatively high price point. Would go back for a drink but avoid the food!

Lovely get together with a few friends. Was so excited to come to this pub as my husband and I spent our first wedding night here when we got married in the UK.Visiting from SA it was on our list. The waitress made it very uncomfortable with her snarky remarks when we ordered a platter. "seems like 10 people are sharing this platter' - which was not the case. Such a pity as this pub is absolutely beautiful and the vibe is amazing.

We had a Christmas lunch at the Windmill and it was fantastic! A three-course meal complete with drinks and Christmas crackers. The vibe is really nice and the pub is cosy and well-decorated without being too fancy. We had Monica and Fraser looking after us at our table and they were really friendly and attentive. Important to note you do have to book early for lunch on Christmas day and there is a different food menu that you pre-order from. However I'm sure that no matter when you go the food will be delicious and the service will be excellent!

We had Christmas lunch yesterday at the Windmill. It was fantastic. The food was extremely good and the atmosphere was great too. The staff are super friendly. My mother and brother stayed at the hotel and again, everything was superb.

We visited The Windwill for Christmas lunch for the second time after an enjoyable Xmas day a couple of years ago. Unfortunately on this occasion our visit was marred by the poor service. Upon arrival, our 2 children were served their main meal immediately while my partner and I were served our Starters. Almost another hour passed before we received our main meals which was really too long. Both children had finished eating and were ready for dessert and we had yet to start. At one point a waitress served me my main and as I gratefully picked up my fork another member of staff swooped in, snatched the plate away and explained I’d received the food in error. Very unprofessional. To be honest it was not so much the wait, as I appreciate it was very busy, but during our 2.5 hours in the restaurant not a single member of staff stopped at our table to ask if we needed anything or engaged with us at all. I observed that waiting staff engaged with other diners, asking if they required drinks etc, so it seemed as if we were just left to our devices and we didn’t feel as if our custom was welcome. The only point at which we were quickly dealt with was when we asked for the bill. We received it within seconds and left without receiving so much as a thank you or goodbye from waiting staff. We will not be visiting The Windwill again.

Christmas Day dinner - Food was very good. Large portions, tasty and hot. Good value for money for Christmas Day Dinner. We were seated next to the area where the staff were waiting/congregating and the kitchen and it did feel like we were being stood over with a lot of staff waiting around by our table. Service was efficient but felt slightly too quick.

Came here for a Sunday roast with the family. Was served by a handsome young man called Dalius. He gave us excellent service and a lovely smile throughout our entire meal. Could not recommend this pub more. Xxx

I've been to the cafe now a few times and the venue is really nice (with both inside and outside areas to sit), and good if you have a dog as it is right on the common in Wimbledon . Anything I have ordered to eat or drink has been great, and the staff are just absolutely lovely and helpful. I cannot speak highly enough of them - especially Christian. I shall definitely be going back again.

Nice spot for lunch or drinks if you're in the area. I met some friends for a preorganised Xmas lunch there. Their Xmas menu is great for vegetarians and they're happy to add/remove things based on allergies etc. the venue is difficult to navigate when packed so be prepared for a lot of squeezing. It's very child friendly. There were many buggies around. I'd go back if in the area but wouldn't travel for it.

I went to the Windmill for some evening drinks a week or so a go, and was really impressed with venue and atmosphere. The staff at the bar were very welcoming and chatty, in particular a young man called Luke. I was the first of my group there and the effort he went to to make conversation made me feel less awkward about getting a solo drink. Will definitely come again.

I spent a glorious few hours working from the atmospheric Dome in the Windmill on Clapham Common yesterday. What impeccable premises, wondrously decorated for Christmas, with roaring fires and smiling staff with glowingly angelic faces. Special mention to one of the managers, Daphne, who treated me like family and to Lisa, whose charm and speed of service were matched only by her wit and warmth. An example of hospitality as a vocation if ever I saw one. What a tremendous experience. I love you all.

Monica and her team were absolutely superb! Came here for our team Xmas party, we arrived a little early and they were incredibly accommodating, food was excellent and nothing was too much trouble for Monica, I cannot recommend her enough. Super friendly, lovely atmosphere in the place and really good wine list too. We will be back!

Lots and lots of incompetent staff. I wish they'd get fewer and more competent staff members. There's always some mistake, food left outside whilst you're sitting inside. Half your order outside half inside. If in doubt, they will use takeaway cups and plates and generate lots of waste. I so badly wish that some competent manager would take over and make this a decent place to go to. Currently, the only thing going for it is the location. Note: this review is based on years of experience and many different meals and groups. I'm just finally fed up (excuse the pun) and would do almost anything to see a better cafe in the location.

Had a gorgeous looking chocolate fudge brownie cake. Very disappointed. No taste except for sugar, very artificial. Cake prices listed only outside the building. Beautiful area of Wimbledon common and lovely warm interior though.

The Windmill is a lovely location. The staff were incredebly organised, helpful and friendly. The disappointent came with the food. It looked good and was presented beautifully, however the beef that was served with the roasts, although sliced very finely was very tough. The risotto I had again looked good, but was disappointing, sweet rather than savoury. Some of the sides again, were 10/10 for look but taste wise were not as good as they looked. However, all the staff serving us were lovely 10/10 for service.

It was lovely to come across this cafe on our Common walk and, being a sunny afternoon, it was inevitably busy. Orders were taken at one place outside and drinks brought out to an adjacent table. We sat on the outside bench tables (trying to avoid the birds and their poop). It's not glamorous but is exactly the pit-stop required on a long walk

A bit surprised by all the bad reviews. I am moving to another place in London and spent the last two years almost every day in this cafe after walking my dog. A great place to have coffee and decent food. Yes, sometimes the wait is long, but then so is the queue.

This is a great spot for a refreshment break when exploring Wimbledon Common and walking dogs, but despite the nice surroundings, the overall experience isn't all that great. The staff were all disinterested, showing more focus on chatting with each other than serving visitors. There's also a strange system of announcing orders over a tannoy, which is annoying and cheapens the whole environment. They're lucky they have a bit of a monopoly, if there was a choice I wouldn't go back.
