Lovely pub with a nice view on the river Thames from the terrace. Great food, beer and kind personnel. Definitely recommend visiting for locals or before visiting Syon Park.

Met a friend for beer & food. London Apprentice worked well as the weather was great so we sat outside to look at the river.v I had the hake which I enjoyed.

Staff are rude and the pub is always dirty

The location is great but the pub isn’t what it was. I’ve not been here for years and the pub’s gone downhill. We pre-booked a table for 7 of us and were told on the confirmation that it would be table service. When we got there, we were made to order food and drinks from the bar and that there was no table service. Bar staff took an order for 7 drinks and didn’t even offer the use of a tray. We asked for one but by the time it arrived one of us made 2 trips and grabbed the drinks. When it came to ordering food, I was shocked to be told they had no chicken at 1pm! Running out of menu items so early on a weekend was pretty poor. The food arrived and was ok. It was nothing special just pretty standard pub fare. At one point we asked for a spare teaspoon to share our dessert, the staff gave us a disgusting spoon, stained with coffee. When this was pointed out, the waitress simply took the spoon, no apology or nothing. The pub claims to be family friendly but there was a bunch of lads in their 30s on the next table swearing loudly during their conversation. We had a toddler with us and this definitely wasn’t the family friendly atmosphere we expected. When it came to paying the bill. There was a 10% service charge that wasn’t made clear until after payment was taken. We asked them to refund this as quite simply the service fell well below expectations and the waitress did nothing apart from bring the food when it was ready. We had to give the orders ourselves at the bar. The initial transaction was refunded (we’re still waiting for the money to arrive back in the account) and a second transaction without the service charge was taken. We await the return of the money from the first transaction although we were told it may take 3 days. It’s a real shame that the pub’s standards have fallen like this over 10 years or so. We definitely won’t be back.

This establishment serves THE BEST chicken Kyiv I've ever had. It is seriously the most kino chicken Kyiv you will ever have.

Nice atmosphere. The manager was very friendly and helpful. Great food - I recommend the pea and mint soup.

OMG how gorgeous this place is. Got served by some great waitress called Lena or Elena, made sure we had every course and enjoyed the whole atmosphere.

We came here yesterday for lunch. It's such a beautiful place & setting but the food & service let it down for us. We ordered for just before 3pm & only after speaking to a member of staff our food came at 3:37pm which wasn't even hot. Bearing in mind the restaurant area was empty! We were told that it was because the chefs were dealing with a private buffet upstairs. If this was the case then maybe organise more staff/chefs because clearly this wasn't sprung on them. It's such a shame because it's such a lovely place!

Incredible atmosphere and friendly staff. Got served by Elena and she made sure we were satisfied with our orders. Cared for us like for a member of family absolutely loved, would recommend to visit with friends especially on warm days.

We came from America to visit London and stopped at this beautiful place this Sunday for lunch. Beautiful view of the River Thames and huge garden, good food and friendly staff.

I visited with family for a lunch. It was delightful sitting out on the terrace by the Thames. The Chicken Kyiv was very tasty and well prepared, as were the steak & ale pies enjoyed by others. Service from Eleanor and colleagues was excellent as was the pint of best bitter!

Went here for my daughter’s birthday had a great time. Leah was great. Very child friendly. Definitely coming back again.

We waited over an hour for our lunch, the food was cold when it arrived Very slow service, very shabby bar that could do with a revamp Very expensive for a Very poor meal. We would advise all to try somewhere else,

Food is cold, badly portioned (one side of my sandwich had no filling!). Onion rings tasted of fish, obviously fried in the same oil. Benches are rotten! Covered my coat in droppings. Service isn't great either. Added to that, I watched a server pick up the dogs water bowl to place it eleswhere, then go and pick up people's food and serve it to them without washing their hands. Gross. All in all, terrible.

A pub that it is in desperate need of a makeover. There is lots of character, but it all feels rundown and unloved, which is a shame given its amazing location next to the Thames.

Popped in here by chance, to scape the cold, wonderful table next to the fireplace. Food was divine and a great view. We had the Beef and a Pork Belly roast, the food was plentiful and the gravy something else. Well worth a visit.

Really lovely inviting pub in a superb location. The staff were really helpful and the food was excellent- particularly good onion rings which were home made. The pub doesn’t seem to be relying on its beautiful location to attract people and is worth a visit in its own right in Winter as its cosy and friendly.

i love the apprentice...i live near and have done my whole life. yes it has got neglected, i dont know why! this beautiful historical pub should be restored! maybe the service is rubbish..never had a problem, food always been great...maybe these moaners expect 5 star service! if so, go down the road to the Hilton! rubbish there! maybe just appreciate where you are, by the river, history, beauty and dont have such high expectations. live in the moment or.....

Nice pub, but SERIOUSLY let down by the food. Ordered a pie that was cold in the middle, then again a second try pie was cold again. Service took too long for a pub that was only half full. Won’t be coming back.

Went to the London apprentice last night . Hadn’t been for years as had previous bad experiences. Having read recent reviews decided to give it another go . From the minute we arrived we were impressed, we were met with such a warm welcome from the lady who was behind the bar who made us feel very well looked after throughout our visit . Drinks arrived promptly and were really good . We ordered starters and mains inc some options from the specials . All the food was tasty fresh and delicious . We will definitely be back and delighted to see an old favourite back in good hands . It was quiet but I think that will pick up with the new team .

Good pub but needs a long awaited refurbishment. The staff is lovely and they care a lot about their service which is nice because you can always have a chat with them and some even know a lot about the pubs history

I was in the pub on nye it was so nice and intimate. The dj was great and the bar lady Tara (I think that's her name- long brown hair) was brilliant! She literally knew everyone's order; she offered to bring them to our tables so we could enjoy our night dancing. She basically made 3 random tables come friends for the night too. Every time I went outside to smoke alone she would check the outside perimeter and ask if I was okay or wanted her to wait with me.

One of my favorite places when I come to London, every time I visit London Apprentice, the view of the river, the service and the kindness of the staff are magical.

The location of this pub is unique: you'll have wide views of the Thames from the outer stone garden. Inside the pub displays different rooms/spaces that are ideal to accomodate groups whilst keeping a bit of intimacy. The beers on tap are a very good selection of local ales. Food prepared in the kitchen is freshly made, good and abundant. I strongly advice to visit this pub while walking along the Thames.

The staff team are friendly and welcoming. But due to problems with Amstel and the dog owners. Who allow their dogs to lay in the walkways and everyone having to step over them. We are not the only customers who are fed up with the attitude of dogs owners. We will no longer be using the pub.

Nice pub now off the beaten track as the road no longer goes to Syon from Isleworth. Very expensive drinks tho

There was quite a long wait for the food.After the starter, we were informed by the waiter that this was because they had a new chef. The cod and chips were excellent and were a good size portion. The rib eye steaks were both rare, one was meant to be medium. Two days before I had a rib, I steak from a supermarket chain that I thought was of better quality. This may just have been a one off, and I will definitely be coming back when I am in the area as it is a lovely place.

Traditional, cosy pub. Open fire is nice. Management is pleasant and offers discount for CAMRA members. This is a lovely pub in the summer when one can sit outside.

I visited this amazing pub for the first time and had a wonderful experience. The atmosphere was warm and nostalgic, enhanced by a fantastic view of the garden and the upper bar. It is situated next to the river, where beautiful swans were swimming. The food was delicious and served promptly. The staff was exceptional, making my family, including my two young children, feel right at home. The service was excellent, and the manager was kind and very informative.

Lived in the area for 42 years. Unfortunately since Green King bought it the pub is no longer the lovely place it used to be. It needs totally doing up inside and out. When Fullers owned it, it was a busy place with great atmosphere. Haven’t been in for a while but last time the food wasn’t great.

Nice pub. Dreadful service and awful food. Waited for 80 mins for some soup, microwaved pasta (with a hair in the salad) and some chicken that could take your tooth out.

This pub has a lovely location on the river with a nice outdoor patio area overlooking the river, but we ate in the bow window which was nice too. Food was very good. My husband had a substantial steak pie and all the meals were good except the veggie chilli which had had an overly large handful of chilli powder thrown in it. Decor was a touch shabby but the waitress was friendly and keen to please.

I went there some months ago with some friends. We arrived an hour and 15 minutes before closing, yet were somehow beginning to be rushed out after being there for a few minutes. We only had time for one drink before everyone was kicked out way before their closing time. Service was crap and so was the atmosphere; employees were rude and dismissive. It was all so unwelcoming which is such a disappointment because we had wanted to try out the place for a while. My guess is they kicked the customers out early because they wanted to close the bar quicker and get home quicker. Anyways, won’t be going back.

We live nearby, have had drinks here, enjoying the traditional atmosphere and view of the river, so when overseas family visited, we thought it would be a good place for Sunday lunch. What a mistake! We booked for 2:30, which is not unreasonable, and everyone was keen for the Sunday roasts. I asked the waitress how the beef was done, and she said medium-rare, pink in the middle. When it arrived, it was black - two slices of charred meat. I should have refused it, but didn't want to make a fuss for my guests. It turned out that all who had ordered the beef had the same issue. My sister-in-law had the half-chicken, which was totally desiccated, not even gravy could recover it. The same applied to the roast potatoes - totally dried out. All I can think is that everything had been sitting under a heat lamp all afternoon. All I could eat was the Yorkshire pud, gravy. and a few of the overcooked veggies. The only non-complainers were the one vegetarian, who had something satisfactory, and the kids who just had chips. When the weather turns, I will return here to sit outside overlooking the river, with a pint and a bag of crisps, but never, ever, try the food again.

The worst Sunday Roast I have ever had in my life. Meat was beyond overcooked, impossible to chew. Vegetables and potatoes undercooked. Hard uncooked fries. Was it a joke? Overpriced trash food. Service was lacking the ability to serve. A very lazy girl.

Based on multiple visits the restaurant is always understaffed. Staff are great but have too much to do.

We've been visiting on a weekend and it wasn't very busy at all. It's a truly beautiful pub in a historic building with a wonderful outdoor area on the river. The food was good, although my dish with haddock and beans was a bit spicy, and it was not mentioned on the menu. Other than that, it was tasting good. The service it was very laid back. Overall it is a wonderful pub and it is certainly worth a visit.

Went there last weekend for my son’s birthday meal with family. We preordered our meal on the managers recommendation to ensure the food we wanted was available, to be told we couldn’t have it as it wasn’t delivered. When choosing other options, also told items not available. Menu very limited on choice so you’d expect what’s listed to be there but things happen and I guess couldn’t be helped. The two staff behind the bar, where rude, the one taking our order was very clearly unhappy to be inconvenienced by having us to choose other options. When the meal came my sons meal wasn’t as expected with most of the plate was salad so we asked for additional garlic bread to be told no you can’t have that it wasn’t on the original order. What restaurant refuses a customer to buy additional food?? We didn’t ask for a knife for the cake we bought with us and decided to leave. Will not go back again as it’s gone down hill massively. Used to have a large menu with a lovely lady manager who’s now left it seems. Such a shame.

Have seen about three management changes in the last 6-7 years. The latest one, although nice, are not as friendly as the previous ones, that made people feel specially welcomed. The ladies restrooms still need much attention: door lock, paper in its “right” place, message to customers of “please leave the toilet as you would like to find them” or similar-educating clients is at times urgent. The building needs some renovations by Greene King, well overdue. The pub food is nice, usual LA style. Had my Vegan burger 🍔, nice! The pub old and lovely atmosphere is what really makes it. More friendly and warmer staff, with repairs by the Greene King owners, may bring clients in drones.

The food & drinks were good, lovely atmosphere. However it has soured my experience when the rude staff forced us to go inside after 9pm without asking us politely and also closed the bar early like 10pm on Sunday. No warning or last order. We were planning to leave 10.30pm but the staff were rude. Fortunately I kept the photos of staffs and the bar were closed at 10pm.

Great historic pub! Worth a visit

Despite a cute waterside area and view, this was otherwise a fail. I was told to order by table number but my table didn’t have one. When waiting at the bar to order with menu in hand, the wait was long since a large group was splitting checks etc (it happens). Then the cashier said sorry the kitchen is closed. 2:12pm. The draught beer had a sign say nothing available on tap today. The restroom stall didn’t have a lock or something to secure the door. —-What’s going on here?—- Consolation: other (attempted) patrons were kind.

First visit here 1985, great, standout place and stayed that way until the last 12 months. Gone completely down hill - not only is the outside falling apart but one Friday lunch no food, todays Friday lunch no drinks on tap due to some weird gas issue. Food was below average, only one beer in bottles worth considering. Toilets had no paper, doors didn't lock and there was water all over the floor. Used to fight for tables, now too much choice. Spoiled all my good memories by going to this place - such potential but a real disappointment.
