Windmill on the Common in Lambeth

We went got a Sunday lunch and had a great time! Kat, Taye and Sam were amazing, the service was fast and the food was delicious.

Great pub, lively atmosphere, nice restaurant area, friendly staff and good food - what's not to like! Met up with an old friend and we shared a meat platter over a nice bottle picpoul.

Food and dinner good. We stayed overnight , room ok, large but shabby and Hotel stairs etc rather delapitated. Overall decent stay.

The staff were fantastic, however to food was awful, smoked salmon was previously frozen, the fish and chips were very over cooked, the fish was previously frozen and dried out, we were with grandchildren so we didn’t complain. The food was also overpriced.

Flew in from the US for 4 days touring London. The Windmill is a perfect location just out of London proper. Clapham Commons is a young, newly gentrified location. The Windmill abuts a beautiful park. Rooms are perfectly appointed. Comfortable beds. European sheets (no top sheet, duvet only). Quiet location. 8 minute walk from the closest tube/grocery. Shower in our room #12 was a little complicated (stall does not open on both sides to pre set water temperature) and the deep step in/out would be complicated for someone of advanced age. Windmill has a wonderful out door bar for a pint at the end of a long day touring. Dinner ran $85.00US for two ppl and a 12.5% gratuity was automatically added for our party of 4. Continental breakfast was included in our stay, all you need for a start to great day. Highly recommend the avocado toast from the menu. Our weather was perfect EVERY DAY! Front desk was very helpful with directions. Our breakfast server Monica (sp) was just lovely. And who doesn’t love meeting Monty (the pub dog and chick magnet) The King Of Clapham?!

We booked Sunday Lunch at 2.15 and The kitchen had already run out of lamb. Why a visit to M&S or Tesco's to replenish stock was not done is a mystery. We had pork. The food was very poorly presented and tasted of nothing very much. It was not the cheapest Sunday lunch in the world and the experience will not be repeated.

Good food options but very poor service levels. Total lack of interest from restaurant team and zero enthusiasm. Due to a booking error we were told to find our own table in the bar area. As we had to order at the bar the only service we received was the staff bringing the food to our table. Zero follow up to check if the food was ok. Wouldn't go again.

The service was excellent, lovely surroundings and great atmosphere, I ordered the Sunday roast, beef was to die for juicy and tender, vegetarian roast where hard and difficult to cut through, but everything else was superb, worth coming back for just the Yorkshire pudding.

I’ve been reviewing a long time, try to be positive, but this venue hit a low point in service and sharp business practice. This is my local restaurant on Clapham Common, so been here a lot. This time shown to an outdoor table, ordered and served drinks and side-dishes, we paid over £70 , a hot day pit-stop for my adult family. Then told as we were consuming our purchases that couldn’t sit as we hadn’t ordered lunch. Looked around counted 20+ empty place settings. The serving staff got progressively unpleasant harasing us, so we cut short our stay. Passing by 30 minutes later heading home, still lots of empty tables including ours. Naturally won’t be returing this year or recommending it to family or friends. A very unpleasant experience and felt we’d been hosed for £70.

I met my sister here for a special occasion. The service was poor and the food lacking. Bread and olives was burnt toast prices and soggy olives. The metze platter was ok. The dessert was hideous - even the chef agreed. The restaurant want busy but I am very disappointed and after spending more than £100 for a lunch for two, I will not be recommending this venue ever again

Room was lovely as usual -except bath in the room which is not ideal! Very quiet and comfortable beds. Only a 4 as we had a disappointing meal in the restaurant in the final night. Booking a 7.45pm table we were told that none of the roasts were available -which then restricted the menu dramatically and ultimately increased the cost of dinner. We have eaten there before in a number of occasions but felt this was very poor. Staff very apologetic and embarrassed.

The Windmill is nicely located for our various family members to meet up. There were 12 of us and service was fine. The table for 12 has two pillars on either side in the middle of the table which isn’t great for conversation naturally. That was our main gripe. The food was ok, we had a variety of dishes and no big complaints from anyone. The restaurant doesn’t let you move chairs around from other tables. With 12 of us at the table, separated by the pillars, we couldn’t easily mingle unfortunately. We liked the atmosphere in the restaurant and pub. Also being next to the common is great. Would come again

We had a fantastic evening at The Windmill restaurant on 18th December. We arrived early for our reserved table but this wasn’t a problem at all….we were shown to our table immediately and our drinks order taken. The service thereafter was impeccable and the food first class. It was our son’s 30th birthday so we wanted it to be a special evening and it certainly was, thanks to our fantastic waitress Aaliyan who made sure we had everything we needed. We will definitely be coming back again….need to try the other dishes on the menu!

A beautiful dining area in the pub - much better than I’d expected- fab decor, furnishings, great seating plus fabulous menu - we shared some starters and sides … all good was delicious with great service too.

Went to the windmill for lunch with the family as we were celebrating a new addition to the family. We had lisa for our waiter, she was absolutely great, very attentive, and extremely friendly. We had allergies on the table and she was able to direct us to the right meals which we really enjoyed. Will defo be back.

Evening meal in the restaurant with my son . I am coeliac. The allergy advice was poor. I was presented with endless lists . Eventually we ordered two roast dinners. They arrived literally 3 minutes after placing our order . Meat good , roast potatoes practically inedible. Obviously reheated from lunchtime. Hard exterior with nothing much left inside. My son’s Yorkshire pudding was poor. Unforgivable to serve a roast at £ 25 per head with awful Yorkshire pudding and dreadful roast potatoes . I feel stupid for paying. The waitress was lovely. I suspect she was embarrassed.

Lovely air conditioned dining room in the conservatory. We went for a Sunday dinner and it was fairly empty. Service was woeful, there were plenty of staff but they couldn’t seem to care less and a couple of them spent more time looking at their phones than out at the floor. Table wasn’t cleared very quickly, they didn’t ask if we wanted more drinks or dessert and we had to really wave and yell to get the bill. Fish pie and fish/ chips were good, roast potatoes were so crispy on the outside you couldn’t cut into them (knives were inadequate / they were over cooked).

I went to the Windmill this afternoon with a few friends to enjoy the Rugby and was met with outstanding food and service - particularly from bartender Nick, who was friendly, swift, and accommodating in his preparation of our orders. Great atmosphere. Can't recommend enough!

We had booked a late post-funeral family lunch. I can honestly say that the care and attention lavished upon us was really excellent, we were seated at a lovely table for twelve in the relaxing ambience of the conservatory and had the room to ourselves for most of our stay. The waiting staff were brilliant, on the ball and could not have been kinder, the food was very well prepared and presented, obviously the kitchen team really know what they are doing, it's real food and definitely not straight out of a packet! Sensibly priced too. A minor observation is that maybe there should be a wider choice of mains, but it worked fine for all this time including for children and our more senior guests. There's an outstanding, very well-chosen and sensibly priced wine list and excellent Youngs Ales on draught. We give the Windmill and its lovely staff our highest recommendation to anyone wanting a very special occasion!

The pub has been beautifully refurbished but the lunch menu is not very exciting. I had avocado on toast which was very bland and we ordered a panzanella that had very resemblance to the actual dish. Nuestra estancia en el Windmill Clapham Hotel en sí fue totalmente satisfactoria, como lo ha sido varias veces en el pasado. 9/10La cena en el restaurante Windmill fue, sin embargo, completamente insatisfactoria, de hecho simplemente inaceptable. Incluso si se hubieran lavado, la combinación es simplemente ridícula. El resultado fue que tanto la guarnición como el pescado en sí (¿también había sido salado por separado también?) Eran increíblemente salados y no comestibles, ¡el trabajo de un completo aficionado! Como guarnición para mi plato principal, pedí una porción de 'cavalo nero'. ¿A qué sabía? ¡Nada más que sal! No tenía ningún otro sabor y era completamente incomible. Uno de mis hijos comió una hamburguesa; esto era aceptable. Con eso pidió 'Mac & Cheese' como acompañamiento. Recibió un tazón de: macarrones empapados demasiado cocidos bañados en salsa b chamel con una pizca de queso (aunque uno no podía estar seguro ni siquiera de esto); todo era un desastre suave y empapado. Mi otro hijo comía costillas y papas fritas; eran aceptables, pero la cantidad era obscenamente grande, por lo que no pudo terminar (¡un joven adulto con mucho apetito!). Todo esto significó que una cantidad sustancial de comida se desperdició por completo (un escándalo moral). El chef / cocina. debe reconsiderarse detenidamente: las porciones excesivamente grandes deberían simplemente prohibirse (no se obtienen en Italia o Francia, países conocidos por su excelente cocina). Y ciertamente, la sal debe quitarse hasta que el chef se dé cuenta de lo poco que es suficiente, o hasta que contrate a un chef profesional. ¡Qué decepción total! 1/10

Ajetreado día de finales de verano. Pedí hamburguesas, deliciosas pero olvidé que uno de mis amigos era judío. Cuando llegaron, le pregunté a Jerry si podía hacer uno sin queso y tocino. Nada es demasiado problema. 7 minutos después, una hamburguesa recién hecha y se come con gusto. Gran servicio, buena comida, volveré.

Tuvimos una velada maravillosa de principio a fin. Había un poco de cola cuando llegamos allí, pero la señora que estaba sentando a la gente fue rápida y eficiente (cabello castaño recogido, gafas). El servicio de camarera fue atento y la comida deliciosa, tenían estaciones de desinfección de manos en cada entrada y buenas medidas de distanciamiento social, ¡no puedo esperar a volver!

As always we had a great experience here. A free room upgrade on arrival, a wonderful meal, and breakfast was 👌🏽 Track and trace in force from the moment we got here, social distancing measures in place throughout, and still a lovely warm atmosphere! 🙌🏽
