Latte art class - fantastic class with an understated pro of a teacher. He was patient and explained everything really clearly. I walked away with way better technique. Definitely worth the money and a great experience. Their coffee is also excellent.

After attending the home barista course, I stopped for a coffee with my wife (and dog). Nice coffee shop, quirky, friendly, a couple of outdoor spaces. Lovely pasteis de nata. Note, in the week, parking is next to the community hall, not outside coffee shop.

Took the Home Barista Course today with no prior experience in making coffees outside of instant supermarket stuff. Gemma delivered the course, started with a background into coffee, the roasting process and other history. Was interesting and set the class up well. Gemma showed us the ratio's for varying coffees, I brought my own coffee machine in and she was happy to help me set it up and gave me further advice on how to maintain it which was appreciated. I used my machine throughout the course which was great to get used to it quickly. We made many coffees for practice and were showed how to steam milk, as well as how to pour for varying different drinks. In summary, for £60 the two hours was well worth it. The shop was easy enough to find and I definitely got my full value for it. Would 100% recommend and thank you again Gemma for a great course, I'll be back for Latte Art!

Have taken Latte Art and Home Barista courses. Both were very enjoyable. The tutors are very knowledgeable and friendly - also patient and obviously wanting to help you progress as much as possible. For the HB course I took my machine and grinder and was guided through dialling in, timing and colour. Lots of tasting too. This was really great for me and I am much better set up; and better armed to reset for different beans. My wife thought the coffee I made when I got home was excellent. So........ Real proof of the effectiveness of the course. I was bought these as a gift from my family and was a little sceptical as to what they could teach me, after all I've been making coffee for 50+ years. Turns out they taught me a lot! They also roast excellent coffee!

I must have driven past this place a dozen times on my way to see my mum. Saw the sign and pulled in. Went into the cafe and got a warm welcome. Really cosy and clean and friendly attentive staff. Ordered a couple of nitro brews and a banana flapjack to go and was really impressed with the flavours and quality of both coffee and cake. A couple of tables outside in the sun and lots of seating inside. Recommend you try it and support a local business. Well done

Dave very helpfully offered to brew us a takeaway and allow us to sit outside to drink it. Also had a very delicious rocky road to go with it. Coffee was was very smooth and tasty - I just forgot to ask what the origin was. Apparently they are still on Covid time and shut at 2.00pm or Fridays but as somebody else arrived after us - and Dave accommodated them as well - they may be missing a trick - obviously popular! Great coffee, good food and service!

Big queue , well distanced, for take away coffee and cakes. It is obviously popular. I walked to the window to ask if they were selling bags of coffee beans today and if there was a separate area for the shop as opposed to takeaway. I got abused and yelled at by the chap inside, not acceptable. I won’t be going again.

I would like to start will saying I really hate having to complain but what I saw this weekend was really not nice. I have just moved to Winchester and my cousin said that for coffee beans and coffee, this was the place and worth the journey. I will say firstly that I really love the atmosphere, they roast their coffee here and think they are only a cafe on the weekends. Firstly there was no social distancing which at the moment I think is inexcusable. No control over how many people were in the queue. The customer infront of us wanted an iced coffee. This seemed to cause a huge issue as it transpired there was no ice but the man (with no mask on) was shouting and slamming around the place clearly cross with his team, shouted out the door to the customer. The young man and women at the til just looked embarrassed, awkward and uncomfortable. Kinda ruined the experience.

I started up a small mobile café business and have been making coffees for a while also as a hobby at home. This Latte Art class was perfect for what I needed. Dave my instructor is very knowledgeable, has wonderful patience and really makes the lesson enjoyable! He is also one of the in-house baristas so if you go there he will make you an unforgettable coffee! I can highly recommend the Winchester Coffee School, as well as Winchester Coffee Roasters as I obviously got to try a lot of their coffee and it is truly outstanding! The venue is not your typical boring, commercial café, it has a lot of character and could be described as a hidden, hole in the wall gem! Definitely an original experience if you are just coming to get a coffee to drink or takeaway! The fact that the beans are roasted in house means that you are working with the freshest possible beans! Their blends are really well composed so the whole team really know what they are doing.

Well hidden but worth finding wonderfull coffee and best decaff coffee I've had bar none. A full on coffee roasting business that converts to a cafe on Friday Saturday and Sunday. Slightly bohemian and service dependent on queue but all worth it if for you the coffee comes first.

A month or so ago I purchased a Sage coffee machine. I have been experimenting making coffee but realised that I could do with some tuition. I searched on line and discovered Winchester Coffee Roasters and was delighted to see that they used Sage machines during the course. I had to travel an hour to get there but it was well worth it.Our tutor on the day was Dave and we started the course with brief education about the coffee plant, its fruit and the coffee bean. This did not take too long and was very interesting. We then moved on to using the coffee machine (I took my own along as recommended) to make a few Espressos, fine tuning the machine to get the right grind and amount of coffee. Once we had done this we moved on to the milk, this was harder than I thought, getting the right foam quality and pouring for the different coffees but with Dave's expert direction we managed to do quite well.I think this 2 hour course is ideal for someone wanting to make excellent coffee at home and would highly recommend Winchester Coffee Roasters.

Super cup of coffee and they allow dogs inside and out. There is a little patio on the top of the stairs outside, which although does not have a scenic view, is perfect for a stop over with dogs. They have a dog water bowl. The hot chocolate was really not hot but the new staff member (who is very friendly) immediately replaced it with another. The loo (unisex) needs a revamp and although clean looks very tatty and uninviting.

Enjoyed several hours learning about the science and methodology of making a great cup of coffee, the sources and varieties. Antonia's experience, knowledge and advice is invaluable. I don't have a machine of my own but after this I will be purchasing a machine so that I can treat myself, family and friends to a 'proper' coffee. I have already ordered a Barista coffee book to learn more but feel that I want to return to the Winchester Coffee School to benefit from their expertise and to purchase their own roasted coffees. Before the course I enjoyed a delicious coffee in the cafe (a taste of what was to follow!) which is very relaxed and comfortable with a variety of games for children and adults and is also dog friendly. Some lovely cakes on offer too.

The best coffee in the area? No doubt, but definitely not a place focused on selling their own product. Service very lost (the girl does not wreath about the coffee they sell) and the barista is too busy service to be a bit nice for the customer. Maybe if he was not alone to serve fifteen clients in the queue and the girl knew what she was doing there would be different.

Delicious home-made cakes and seriously good coffee make this a great place to visit, either to sit in or to take away. It's a little off the beaten track, tucked away in a small industrial unit, but once inside you'd not really know. The interior is quirky with only half a dozen or so tables, however it's possible to sit outside albeit there's not much of a view. The place is currently only open Friday through Sunday 8.30am til 3.30pm and there's no food options other than cakes. You can't park outside the front on a Friday so instead you'll need to use the car park of the neighbouring village hall - you can then access the cafe via the back door, or just walk around. There are normally 4 or 5 different home-made cakes to choose from, and I've not had a bad one yet - the brownies are particularly good. Service is friendly enough, but it's the coffee that makes this place stand out from the crowd. Well worth a visit if you're keen on the bean.

I bought my husband the ‘at home barista course’ It was 2 hours and can honestly say he enjoyed himself so much he was grinning from ear to ear when he came out. The course is held within the coffee area which can be a little cosy, but please don’t let that put you off. You are encouraged to take your own machine so that they can show you how to get the best out of it at home. The trainers were very thorough and patient, and showed them everything from different grinds to doing a bit of coffee art! We both had a drink before we started and their own coffee beans made bootiful coffee. Well worth a visit for just a coffee or treat yourself to doing the course!

Stopped off here on way home for a take away coffee and some cake. I found the coffees rather small, smaller than a regular Costa coffee, but with a similar price tag. I struggle to find coffee in Winchester with the right sort of micro foam consistency. I ordered two lattes, but neither came with any real mentionable foam. Caricoli mostly manage both foam and a little design on the coffee, signs of a professional barista. Not my experience here on the day, but giving it 4 stars, as other half enjoyed both the flavour of the coffee. And the cake was rather nice. However, trying to shove a layered, creamy cake into a small and thin paper bag isn't my preferred way of transporting cake. So it's 4 stars at a stretch, with much room for improvement.

Good coffee, nice cakes, interesting decor. So it's a shame that as we were leaving, a punch bag near the door should have pride of place and have photos of particular politicians on it. Surely you realise that you will alienate at least some customers plus looking incredibly childish. As a result of telling friends you have lost our business and maybe 20 or so others. We won't be back.

This coffee house is run by total enthusiasts, one who knows his coffee like vintners know their wine, and the other who is a total foodie who makes all the cakes. Easily the best coffee in Winchester. Beans roasted on premises, sourced from individual growers across the world. If you are into your coffee then this is the place to come. Winchester Coffee Roasters is a tucked-away coffee shop at the back of a small industrial estate with an exterior that belies its comfort and facilities. It sells a modest range of very good cakes/cookies but, importantly, knows its stuff when it comes to coffee. Booked a table for 8pm, we were seated at 8.10pm to a freshly cleaned table. That's the only good thing I can say about the experience. I must admit I was expecting Nepalese dishes, everything on the menu can be found at your local Indian restaurant. One dish, the Chicken Chilli and I quote from the menu, a touch of ketchup in gravy or dry. We had to ask for the menus, then we had to ask for our order to be taken. I then had to ask at 9.20pm,(an hour and twenty minutes after entering) if we were in fact going to be severed, 10minutes later our food arrived. During this time my friend had finished his drink, at no point did the waiter ask if he would like another one. The plates were cold, the food was so salty it was inedible, there was no spice to either curry and the naans were bland. The restaurant did not have any heating, when it was -2 degrees outside, guests were sat in coats or scarfs and hats. Back to the freshly cleaned table, due to the cold temperature it remained wet for twenty minutes. We were later informed the landlord was refurbishing the heating system that's why it was cold in the restaurant. I would never recommend this establishment to anyone.

We thought it was good but no more. The staff were very polite and attentive. Excellent sourdough (although would of been nice to be included on a £49.95 for 3 course lunch) and cracking pigs in blankets. Cured trout was a lovely light starter. Beef fillet although accurately cooked lacked the wood fired characteristics. A fillet really doesn't have enough time to get flavour from the wood fired oven due to its size. Other larger cuts of beef with some fat would be a better choice. Accompanying veg were ok but the cauliflower cheese again lacked any of the advertised 'wood fired' flavour and cheese sauce a little thin. We also thought this recently when dining in the Avenue restaurant what a shame there are no real local sparkling wines listed. Yes Ridgeview is in Southern England but some 70 miles away. You've got excellent quality producers like Black Chalk, Hattingley Valley, Louis Pommery, Raimes, Candover Brook and The Grange all within 10 miles.
