Wimpy in Basildon

Owner is very rude food disgusting feel sorry for staff the way they are treated by owner will never return

When we arrived the table was dirty so we had to clear it The person running the wimpy bar was shouting a member of staff so they walked out We placed our order after waiting about 10 minutes by the usual lovely lady and was still waiting 40 minutes later when the man who was shouting came over to take our order AGAIN I said we had been waiting a long time and he went away tutting Finally got our order which was wrong but couldn’t be bothered to wait another 40 minutes so didn’t say anything The shouting man was at the till even though he was meant to be cooking as there was 6 orders waiting I explained what we ordered wasn’t what we got and he basically said tough and we should pay for what we ordered regardless it’s not what we got Very rude elderly Italian man who couldn’t cope and we won’t be back ... thanks to him

Me and becky visited Wimpy as were down in Basildon and I used to love a wimpy however it was disgusting and so so unorganised. We ended up walking out after seeing burgers heated up in a microwave. There was coffee bean residue on my saucer, we watched three staff members check the same takeaway bag, three tables were taken out and not one went to the correct table, our order was taken and then we were asked a further two times if we wanted to order and then was asked if everything was ok with our meal when we hadn’t even been fed. We bought our coffee and left and we will never return. No wonder there aren’t many Wimpys around anymore

This Wimpy is not in greatest of places but the food and staff are top notch Amazing quality food Loveliest staff Very Clean Good value for money

Popped in as really fancied a trip back to my youth, ordered a international grill. It arrived way overcooked, the burger looked like it had done 10 laps around the block. It was dry, bender was dry and rubbery. Give me two eggs as he broke the first one. Couldnt eat the burger and had to leave it. They wouldn't look me in the eye. When I paid he said, the coffee was free. I said it was the burger that was the problem, he was very rude indeed. I said I wouldnt be going back and he said good!

Don't get to Basildon that often but always drop into Wimpy as always get s friendly welcome and you know what your getting with Wimpy. Chef seems to have been there for ages,always friendly ,checks on your meal and seems genuinely pleased to serve you.

I visited here with my sister Wednesday as I have visited many times before and as usual the whole visit was great. The chef and waitress have been here for years and are nothing but lovely and know how to run a cafe. The food is always tasty and well presented, the environment always spotlessly clean. The atmosphere of the whole place is always pleasant . I have no idea about the comments made by others. They must have gone somewhere else because they bear NO resemblance to my repeated experiences or those of my friends who regularly visit. Real service at an affordable price with decent vegetarian options.

Having always rated Wimpey food & restaurants highly, thought i'd pop into the one in Basildon Essex for a bit of lunch. Wish I hadn't. The Burger was vile, watched it warmed up in a Microwave but thought i'd give it a chance, however it was almost inedible, then asked as to where were the toilets to be told they could not be used as were broken and staff member could not tell me how long they had been unusable for apart from "they are like it everyday". Then I tried to pay using my card but was informed it was cash only as machine was broken really ? . Will be giving this one an exceptionally wide berth in the future.

Has gone right down hill since the new owner took over . The old owners were so nice since the sleazy one has it it’s never busy in there an an as I said before food not nice plus never seen a turnaround of staff they never last long he really don’t know how to treat his staff

The staff were horrible. I was with several people who have allergies and are diabetic. Certain things on the meal we was ordering they couldn’t have as they’re allergic. I asked if we could swap one thing and take one thing off and the chef was extremely rude to my frail old nan who I was requesting it for, he shouted at us. We left the premises without anything to eat as he couldn’t simply remove one thing from the food before he even cooked it!! He aggressively said ‘you can cook your own food’ and stormed off. The waitress who was originally taking our order before he took over said ‘good luck’ when he was about to come over and take it. NOT A GOOD THING TO SAY TO CUSTOMERS!!

As always, made to feel very welcome. Excellent freshly cooked food. Very clean. Franco & staff are the best.

You know what to expect with Wimpy. The usual burger fare, but freshly made in front of you and waitress service, which sets it apart from other fast food outlets, in my book.

Wanted a burger to eat and went here. It took a while to arrive but it was lovely. Excellent service with a smile.

Had lunch with my friend after a long ride from Luton Airport to Basildon. We decided to have lunch there. We ordered breakfast, which the bacon was too greasy, the tomatos were soggy, the eggs were hard. We ordered freah orange juice but I don't know what was fresh about it as it tasted like medication... Also didn't felt quite welcomed, as me and my friend we are both foreigners and we were talking to eachother in our own language. As soon as the staff and the few customers which were there heard us they immediately started to talk about "us foreigners" coming to get their jobs and asking for free things and all kind of rude comments. First of all, they were all above 50-60 years old, and they shouldn't talk like that, not in this day and age, second of all I am a manager in a multinational corporation and my friend she is a doctor and we do pay quite a bit of taxes, taxes from where those gentlemans and ladies pensions and benefits are paid. Probably they should focus a bit more on the cleaning side of the restaurant as the floor was very greasy and slippery. Not a very welcome place if you are a foreigner under 35 yo.

I normally don't frequent a Sizzle & Ping (Sizzle of a Fryer, Ping of a Microwave) but decided to have a look see. Glad I only had a Coffee. The Cook/Owner was extremely Rude and had a very poor attitude. I won't visit again.

always clean, friendly food very tasty. Go year after year to this place. toilets are very well clean.

my wife and I popped into Wimpey for a quick lunch, and found the staff to be friendly, it was clean and the food was pretty good, the prices were reasonable. We will definitely use this café again also it reasonably priced.

Had my lunch here it was ok . Not been back not the best place in town to eat . It was a little spendy for what you get, not great quality .

Bring me good all memories. Traditional hamburgers, milkshakes and the French fries are the best!. Good extended menu.

I have always been a fan of Wimpy. I like the taste and the fact it is cooked to order, unlike McD's who keep there food warm under hot lights and not fresh. Good service and friendly staff in this restaurant. Happy to use over and over again

I love Whimpy the only burger that ever came near was the Wendy but Whipy is British and best . The beast one ever is in Benfleet. But this one comes a very close second used it for twenty plus years on and off never disappoints

Never felt so welcome in a "Wimpy" before. Franco & staff go out of their way to accommodate my every whim. In fact they fall over backwards to treat & please everybody who use the place.The food is "Top notch", & the premises "Spotless".I highly recommend it to everybody.

Food and service is very good. Friendly and polite. Service is quite quick. Good choice of food and desserts

Had lunch here today big improvement from last timeFood and service lovely but why does man cooking and handling food have to take money at till and not wash his hands. Why can't the staff helping to serve food and keep place clean and tide not do it????????

I decided to take my 3 year old granddaughter to Wimpy for lunch; the service was excellent; we were made to feel very welcome by all the staff; nothing was too much trouble! The food was good and plenty of it! I shall definitely be going back!

Visited here tonight first time in years!! Service and food was great. Extremely clean. Very friendly and polite staff. Offered us ice cream on the house for the kids. Lovely.

Had a meal recently service was pleasant but our order was overlooked and had to be ordered twice the burger was ok the chips were lovely but tea cold by time food arrivedWill be a long time before we visit again

I have dined here a few times and found that the food is just OK - not much more to say about this franchise really.

Good coffee, nice staff but the food looks and tastes cheap, would rather pay a little more.Can only vouch for tea cakes and breakfast but did notice other diners meals.

went to wimpy for a change right by the bus station the table was not clean to my licking the food came up very quick after ordering the meal was ok nothing special i thought the meal was expensive for the meal we had came to £21 would i go there again not for a long time

Had a great lunch in here and very much enjoyed that atmosphere. The staff were great and the food very nice. If your passing and hungry it's definitely worth considering.

Overpriced and not very tasty, think wimpy is out of date with very bland food, not to be repeated, milk shake was just milk with a little bit of flavour

Staff are friendly , there's a lady (think shes the manager ) who serves at the till and shows you to your tables . The lady is very welcoming and always says hello. good service , good food . Always clean. prices aren't to bad .

My husband loves this place.He has the specials but he likes the friendly atmosphere Prices are reasonable and it's always clean
