Wimpy in Kirklees

Lovely place to eat.. lovely friendly and helpful staff..the food is freshly cooked and you can really taste the difference.. excellent children menu as well..

Fabulously nostalgic. The most polite staff in the whole of Huddersfield! Totally recommend you visit.

This Wimpy restaurant was certainly worth travelling 95 miles for from Newcastle upon Tyne. We had a mad day out and thoroughly enjoyed the trip. It’s been 11 years since I had the chance to visit a Wimpy and the food is second to none. As it always has been. It brought so many wonderful memories from my childhood right up to my 40’s. I now would like a Wimpy in my area. The staff and especially the cook are so welcoming and friendly. I paid one more visit to this restaurant before I left for home. If in Huddersfield seek out this wonderful restaurant, you won’t be disappointed.

Loved being able to vist a wimpy bar again the food was great just how I remember staff very helpful and so friendly very clean good choices on the menu burger was for me better then McDonald’s milkshake fab definitely will vist again when coming to huddersfield

Food okay but no peas for the fish and chips. Customer service training needed here for some staff , not many smiles and quite abrupt when we first arrived as in the past we chose our seat, but was greeted by can we seat you we don't use this area.. Then the waitress who took our order was abrupt too . What these staff need to remember is that we are entering a recession and customers who come are their means to earning a wage!!!

This was a blast from the past visit, until a couple of weeks ago didn't know there was any Wimpys. The restaurant was a typical American burger joint but what struck me was the obsessive hygiene constant cleaning very good. The Wednesday burger special very nice (prefer it to MC Ds) (maybe not Burger King) good value attentive staff glad I visited.

Lovely clean restaurant with very good service, but unfortunately these did not make up for the the very poor quality burgers and overcooked meat in the international grill. Did bring back many happy memories though of Wimpy restaurants and I felt really sad that the food was not as good as it could have been.

Exceptional staff and great food. Well the hamburgers are delicious that's what I had. The bad reviews make no sense. WIMPYS deserve to be everywhere again. Bravo

Awful dry chicken breast. Not spicy, over cooked bacon on it. Dry bun. I left most of it. £10:30 for spicy chicken and bacon burger and a Pepsi. Inedible food, and sky high prices. No wonder you don't see them on the high street. When I paid, the girl asked if my meal was OK? I said it was terrible, and won't be coming back. She didn't reply....just took my money. Why ask if my meal was OK, then ignore the feedback. Wimpey should stay in the 60's........forgotten.

I’d not been to a Wimpy for maybe thirty years, and promised myself after lockdown I’d go visit, the closest being Huddersfield, rushed for time I arrived at 5.30pm but figured it wouldn’t be an issue as they close at 6.00pm, when I arrived the door was locked and the sign said closed, a bit strange as the opening times on Google and on the front door state 9.00am - 6.00pm, after knocking on the door a man unlocked it looking at me as if I were stupid. I asked why arn’t you open the sign says 6.00pm ? He said “we close the kitchen at 5.30pm” and locked the door. This left me feeling really disappointed as nowhere on the website or Google does it state kitchen closes 5.30pm. I think you may need to amend your opening times, as the kitchen and front door are not open to the public after 5.30pm which obviously doesn’t mean your open till 6.00pm.

Wimpy in Huddersfield is a safe bet for a retro experience. It may sound funny to some, but burger and chips served on a plate with a knife and fork, combined with a chocolate milkshake, or a knickerbocker glory, is actually a desirable novelty for those who lived through the 80's. The standard of food is good, and there is nowhere else better for milkshakes ( even as a takeout option ). Although pricing is always a concern. It is just glorified fast food, yet prices are knocking onto restaurant territory rather than usual fast food price territory, and as such I've often found myself questioning how they can charge what they do for a mainstream burger and chips.

Very nice, had never been in before. It is a bit like a posh McDonalds. Food was good and we were given an end table so we could put the babies pram next to the table. Seemed to be a lot of waitresses for the number of people in there

This place is definitely better than mcdonalds. The fries are amazing and it's clean too. Reasonable prices. Will be back

Didn't realise wimpy were still going but was very happy to have found them still going strong, great place great service and very helpful a place to relive childhood memories before other American burger franchises took over, if your craving a burger and fries try this place instead, bigger range of food of alsorts and they even do coke floats!

Excellent lunch here on Saturday! Smiling, helpful waitress. Very yummy burgers and chips on actual plates! Everywhere was clean and tidy too. The loos were clean and had hot water and soap too. Definitely will be returning!

The service received today was awful by the member of staff that was on. There was 3 young girls and not a single one offered the service that we should of had. My niece who had gone to the toilet and suffers with a bad stomach ache from being born had just gone to the toilet. The smell was bad so my mum politely let one of them know. One of the girls went and sprayed and came back out saying something to the other member of staff about the smell and holding her chest. From them onwards the girl who sprayed and dealt with our food services had attitude and didn’t even suggest about moving our food. Definitely wasn’t worth it and I definitely won’t be returning after my first experience of going. For someone who works in customer service myself, the attitude the girls had, they shouldn’t of had regardless if the shop was quiet and they didn’t had much to do. Wouldn’t of even put it at one star.

First visit for us took granddaughters,nice burger but got order wrong,(although clean and tidy)VERY expensive 4 burger/chips 3 drinks £45:00 wow could have gone to a restaurant for less.

Haven't seen a wimpy in many a year and seeing the one in huddersfield brought back happy memories ...unfortunately that's were it ended as we sat down it had a smell of old fat and not very clean so I just had a coffee but hubby had a burger it really didn't look appetizing and was so thin hubby said it was ok but wouldn't come again and could make better at home ...shame our memories were very different from today's experience.

Been going here for years. The two ladies working this morning could not be bothered to serve us. No one else was waiting. Had to ask for them to come take my order. One girl who had been stood doing nothing, stomped towards us slamming the menus with a furious look on her face. Left. Shame on you wimpy staff. Had always loved coming here but won't be back until staff attitude changes

Visited one hour before closing time and it was quiet which was perfect. Had a veggie burger and chips and the portion was good. Chips were ok, just tasted like fried chips and burger was lovely and like how it was in a brown bun. The kids meals weren't big but I guess they not expensive and come with a drink. Good though how you can add on inexpensive sides which was perfect as I got some side orders for my baby. I like too how you can have a salad instead of chips. I was happy that all the drinks were diet apart from Pepsi as sometimes diet options are limited. My two sons had waffles with cream as there was no icecream but they were happy. I would have liked a milkshake but had a cappuccino instead and it was very nice. I hadn't been to a wimpy since my child days so I was pretty excited. The reviews before say it's expensive but I didn't really think it was, guess it depends what you order. Think everywhere is expensive these days! Came from Leeds for the experience

Not been to wimpy in years. So decided to go there. Could not remember if it was a table service. Waited for about 5 minutes and lady gave us menus. I opted for healthy and had gourmet salad. And bender sausage. Hubby chose qtr pounder with chips. Took about 10 minutes for order to be taken. While waiting used facilities all clean and good. Waitress brought food out first and apologized as short of staff for not bringing out drinks first. We both enjoyed our food and hubby prefers Wimpy burgers over mcdonalds or burger king. We finished our meals and waited for waitress to get dessert menu after 10 minutes we asked for one and got it however 10 or 15 minutes later she did not come back. So decided to not bother. At till lady asked did we get out deserts and i said she did not come back and now we decided not to bother. I understand they were short of staff but it did spoil our lunch. She apologised at tills . We would go back again as food was nice but as a treat as slighty expensive and hopefully next time try a dessert.if we get a chance to order. I would have given higher score as food was good. But service let it down.

Visited on a rainy Sunday afternoon. The restaurant was fairly busy and understaffed, but the members of staff who were on duty were efficient and very hospitable. The food was served quickly and was basic but delicious. Considering their reputation for being dated, Wimpy are well ahead of the curve providing a Quorn burger. Overall, a treat to have such a lovely meal in a throwback setting.

Lived in Huddersfield all my life yet not been the Wimpy for 30 years! Decided to take my two children and we weren’t disappointed. Warm and friendly welcome, waitress service from a genuine girl who was really happy and smiling. Food arrived within 15 minutes, drinks very quickly. My latte wasn’t overly warm but did come with a biscuit! The food was all hot, large portions and really tasty. There is absolutely no comparison with McDonalds or Burger King. Wimpy is 100% nicer. All served on proper plates with cutlery and ketchup in a bottle. I shall definitely be returning!

I don’t know what style they are going for, but we where expecting an American dinner-ish experience. The portions were small, we went for breakfast and even the large breakfast wasn’t big and overpriced for the amount of food. Definitely don’t ask for the mayo, but at lest their large orange juice was large.

The children meal was good, and value for money. Excellent service, clean and didn't have to wait long. I had the kingsize, good burger and excellent taste. For a fast food joint it says a tad bit on the expensive side

Not at all like the original (best thing about the visit was the place was warm) The burgers were really nice but the chips were way overcooked and I thought it was very pricy for what it was.

I used to come here all the time growing up and we went for lunch. Great service, food was good and not too expensive.

Went in Wimpey thinking we would have a nostalgic lunch. Can honestly say it was the worst burger meal we have had and expensive too. Only one meal deal on offer, if you didn't like that one tough. Ordered onion rings and had to remind them of order so they were cooked quickly and brought about 10 minutes after or meal. The burgers tasted horrible and the chips were dry. Will not recommend to anyone and will not be going again. Far better burger meals out there.

Decent quality burgers and not overpriced. There is table service if you eat in and obv takeaway aswell, been a few times and always good!

Es como Wimpy Wimpy era - es limpio, simple comida que es barato. Esperar hamburguesas, patatas fritas y otros pocos platos y no te decepcionará. Hoy como siempre, buen servicio y la comida era apreciado por toda la familia.

Visité Wimpy en Huddersfield para almorzar mientras que aquí. Buen servicio y buena comida, que bien merece una visita.

Uno de los más antiguos y mejores cafés de la ciudad. Las remolachas las grandes cadenas hamburguesa con facilidad. Personal agradable, cómodos asientos, buen menú. Sigan con el buen trabajo!

Met my son in town he's always hungry 2 Pepsi one late strawberry milk food came after a while young women servers us gave my daughter my burger bye mistake sauce ooozing out of it every one left the chips tasted like dirty chip fat staff really do need helping with costumer services no thank you good bye or even how was your meal I don't mind paying for my kids and daughters boyfriend mums bank and all but the mum says never again when the food is crap and they were all still hungry keep your money in your pocket and stay well clear £42 mr wimpy your a rip offf

I use to love going to the wimpy it's all changed too much now prices are unbelievable (I understand why it's expensive tho) but foods just gone down hill I don't always feel like the staff want to be there some of them are lovely tho I really like the breakfasts there

I had previously only been to Wimpy at motorway service stations as there isn't any near me.I went in expecting mcdonalds style service and food . I was very pleasently surprised with the results. I was greeted in a friendly manner and asked if my order was to eat in or takeway . I didn't know but the man waited patiently for me to decide.I chose to dine in and was shown a seat and given the menu . I choose a Jalapeno burger and large onion rings as I hadn't eaten that day . I could see the food being cooked and I tasted lovely ,I am fussy with meat as I used to be vegetarian . Staff nice and chatty .

We always go to this place for something to eat when we are in huddersfied it is always clean and the staff are always friendly and the food is LOVELY I love the chicken fillet in a bun and chocolate fudge cake

Called in for drink & snack. Staff were nice & friendly & service was fast & with a smile but the food leaves alot to be desired! It's fast food & fills a hole but if it's taste your after try somewhere else.

What has happened to the burgers? They are now disgusting - like cardboard/ sawdust and totally tasteless, like cheap burgers you buy at the knock down shops. Had one yesterday and I had to leave half of it. Are they all as bad, or are the owners free to buy cheap burgers from wherever they wish? I've been going in there over 40 years and the burgers were always tender and tasty, but I won't be going again, from now on, sorry.

I've been a fan all my life of this amazing place - if you want great food cooked fresh with real plates, knives and forks then this is for you! Great menu and great offers too!

This guy was with wimpy and wasn't going to move to Burger King when the franchise changed. Money has been spent here but it's a 70s coffee bar and chips and burgers. Not great but always busy.

A excellent well portioned meal which was delivered prompt.Please remember that Wimpy offer a more civilised way of eating with proper plates and cutlery and none of this cardboard packaging which rivals service meals in.The Wimpy way is better for the environment.

Wimpys seem to close around 6pm so this one was not busy by 5pm. A bit thin on the ground, I heard the next one was in Liverpool. On two levels, staff were mostly in the larger rear part tidying, restockling sauce bottles and wet mopping. The manageress took the order for the Wimpy grill which was OK, although the chips were not very interesting. I had time for a chocolate brown sundae in a long glass and a coffee before the last few minutes came by. I would probably get more attention and even a satisfaction question earlier in the day, but wanted to try a Wimpy again as many have closed down. No music and good thing they put out the slip hazard signs after the mop down. Manageress helpful with explaining where they were and the illuminated sign helped draw attention to the branch.

Went there today for lunch. Overall the place looked very tired and rather grubby? Service was slow and the meal was, to be honest, un-insliring. There are several other cafe's very nearby and we will be visiting one of those from now on...

Bought a cheeseburger with fries here as a quick lunch. The lettuce and onions were nice and fresh but the patty was just horrible. It wasn't a proper beef patty but one of those super processed burger meats you can buy in bulk at Iceland. Very disappointing considering it costs almost 3 pounds when I can buy the same not very good but edible quality burger in McDonald's for a pound. A small pack of fries cost 2 pounds but at least it's freshly made and tasted alright. Normally I wouldn't mind paying even more than 3 pounds for a proper hamburger but since this is not proper burger quality but bad fastfood quality, I could get the same kinda food with a drink and 2 sauces for less in a nearby burger place.

Have popped in to try their veggie burgers, burger was spicy and edible and had jalapeno's as a side dish. Not the best veggie burgers in town but worth a visit if you are hungry.

Went there for lunch today. We were ignored by the servers for almost 5 minutes, everything seemed to take ages, not such a fast food outlet! The food (although edible) wasn't the best I've recently had. Then, to top it all off, the bill was almost £20 for the 2 of us. There is a pub (on Leeds Road... ) nearby that serves 2 people, very nice food for £10 for the pair!!

I have been coming regularly here with my son, we like a burger now and again but we hate the "other" fast food outlets. We like it because of the table service, although you pay a little extra for this, the food is generally palatable, for what it is. However on this occassion drinks came after we had finished the meal. Our server really didn't give a **** judging by his attitude. The manager sorted things out after I demanded to speak to him, all credit to him. The experience is not one I wish to repeat hence I shall never return again. I am a customer and expected to be treated with a modicum of respect, its not too much to ask.

We found this place by accident whilst looking for somewhere for lunch. Seeing the name Wimpy brought back memories of many years ago when they were all over the place. The service was a surprise for a 'hamburger joint', we were given menus at the table and told that our order would be taken shortly. Table service was a surprise as was the choices on the menu. The helpful friendly waiter took our order and the food arrived quickly. It was excellent for this type of establishment, tasty and filling. After the small burgers sold by some establishments these days these were a welcome change, larger and well filled and with more chips on one plate than three or four portions from some well known fast food outlets. With a meal and a drink the average price was £9 each, Not as cheap as some well known chains but much better quality and well worth the price. Would we return? Yes as soon as we can find an excuse to go back to Huddersfield. Well done the people who manage this place for keeping up the standard and providing good service.

I have been a customer here for many years and thought it was about time I submitted a review. It may be a little more expensive than its fast food rivals such as McDonalds but it is in a totally different league. As usual today the service was prompt and cheerful and the place was spotlessly clean. I had my favourite chicken burger with chips and beans. I don't like mayonnaise and they are always happy to miss this out for me. My diet coke arrived straight away in a clean glass with ice and the food followed very shortly afterwards. There is plenty of seating and you never have to wait to be served. The staff are always polite and efficient. it is great that you can rely on enjoying a brief lunch break without having to rush your food or eat it out of a paper bag. I can also recommend the quarter pound cheese burger - my brother's favourite.
