Wimpy in Suffolk Coastal

As a family we have always loved the wimpy, but the last two times I’ve visited they have reduced their portion sizes. The chips were more like a kids portion, on an adults meal, it’s very pricey as it is, but we don’t mind paying their prices as it’s always been good food, but now I’d be more reluctant in paying that for the small portion you get.

I have placed a review on here. before about the Wimpy. Last night 8 of us went for my birthday. We had a fantastic meal, the staff were attentive but not intrusive. We had reserved the table and they put up banners and balloon and made me feel very special. This is a great place for the young and not so young. My grandsons love us taking them there and my daughter too. I just find the staff cannot do enough for us. Thank you so much for a wonderful evening.

We have enjoyed having meals at this Wimpy and they have always been excellent but today the food was very mediocre. My Grandson's burger bun was very dry, my daughters wrap was tasteless and my tea cake was so burnt I couldn’t eat it . What a shame !

I ordered a treat for my children on just eat. The delivery time kept changing as we were waiting. We waited over an hour and the time changed again. We decided to call and cancel the order. The girl on the phone was VERY rude! She didn't even even ask our name and said, "we're too busy", and hung up! My husband called back and again was told, "we're too busy," in an awful tone and with a bad attitude! After calling back the 4th time, my husband managed to give them our name. She then said, "cancelled." And hung up. I have used and loved felixstowe wimpy for years. Never have I ever been spoken to and treated this badly by the staff! Absolutely disgusting! Myself and my family will not be using Wimpy again!

My husband and I visit this wimpy at least once a week. We prefer it over other burger places such and Burger King and Mac Donalds which is just awful food. But here you get service with a smile, you are made to feel very welcome by ALL the staff. The staff are amazing. You get the feeling they are there because they want to not because its a job. I would imagine its great working for the owner. The food is fantastic, really good value for money. I have read reviews left by others who have complaints, well that has never been our experience and I think even if it was the staff would be only to glad to put it right if they are asked nicely to do. The restaurant is really clean and they have a good selection on the menu. The food is great, I love the chicken stack with firecracker sauce and ,you husband often opts for the all day wimpy without beans. And that is the good, no the best thing about the place. My husband cannot stand baked beans and they are always happy to swap them for something else such as mushrooms or hash brown. I have been going to this place for 35 years when my daughter was a baby and we would sit in the windows and share a meal together because I didn't have much money back then. This is a great British institution and we love it.

We visited Felixstowe Wimpy Friday 11.30 and it was brilliant. The food is juicy & flavoursome, the staff are friendly and very professional. I wish this Wimpy was nearer my home . Felixstowe is a lovely town to visit.

We took my daughter and friends here for a birthday party. The food is such good value and they all loved it. The staff were lovely and friendly and let us bring our own cake. I’d highly recommend it!

A true treasure of a place, Wimpy in Felixstowe is staffed by possibly the most friendly team you’ll find in a fast food restaurant in the entire UK. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was nostalgic and as mentioned, the staff are a real credit to this restaurant. Well worth the hour plus journey to experience a true British classic.

The burgers were great, so was the chips and deserts, we will definetely go back there. Exellent service.

Ordered a delivery from Uber Eats. Firstly delivery driver did not read the delivery instructions and went to the wrong address. Then when I was talking him through where to go, he was rude and did not listen. We then had to go and stand in the road to flag down the car. All the food was cold. When I phoned Wimpy to let them know this, as I realise that Wimpy are not responsible but the cold food quality reflects badly on them, I was informed by a very rude lady that it wasn't her problem as she gave the food to the driver hot and then she said, 'you've requested refunds before haven't you?'. Yes I have because my partner and I do like the food but sadly it has been let down by the delivery of the food. Uber eats driver rude and unprofessional and did not listen to directions. Wimpy staff rude and suggestive that I seemingly request refunds often. Perhaps if the food was delivered hot, in a decent condition and the food was actually delivered to my door, then I wouldn't need to request refunds!

We live over an hour to get here, and is so worth the trip. The wimpy here in felixstow has such a fantastic choice. Our personal favorite is the quater pounder and chips and of course there iconic brown derby and hot and cool drinks👌 absolutely gorgeous. The staff are beautiful inside and out all of them. We have a dog and sit outside on a lovely chair and table they provide. Making us feel really welcome. This wimpy is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and we hope to see this fantastic place again soon * * * * *

After a hard year we were warm welcomed, friendly staff, great atmosphere, clean and the food well presented and delicious. We will definitely be returning in the near future well done to all staff you’ve gone back like nothing has happened, children’s meals great price, I had the bean burger I wasn’t disappointed to say the least highly recommend.

Went today service was rude ... iv been coming here for years! Never Have i had such bad service considering i paid!!!! £24.40 bloody joke! Think your staff need to learn how to respect customers including the staff that own it.... wont b returning...

I went in on the spur of the moment, and had a wimpy breakfast with a pot of tea, when the pot of tea came it wasn't even hot, luke warm at best, so it went cold very quickly. The sausages were not the best quality, far from it, and they were served at about 10,000 degrees, so I'm guessing they were a bit over nuked? and very mushy, not much meat content, the beans were served in a pot on the plate and luke warm, I emptied them onto the plate where they belonged, the eggs were ok, billed as free-range so they had a bit of flavour to them, but you can see by the picture how they were cooked and served. There was no choice of bread or toast, it was just toast, unbuttered, there was butter that came on the plate, in a couple of portions of foil wrapped stuff which had clearly been under the hot light or something similar, because it was pretty much liquid and went everywhere when I picked it up and tried to unwrap it, it was only by luck that it squirted onto the plate and table and not over me. The bacon was ok, my preference would have been to leave it cooking for a bit longer, the half tomato was nicely done, not too much and not too little, that was the only thing that was cooked and served properly. It's no surprise then why it's been almost 10 years since my last visit, and it'll probably be another 10 before my next one, this should have been so much better, after all it's something they do every day. I'm going to say it was underwhelming and a bit over priced for the quality and quantity, which you can get better and cheaper elsewhere in town. A bit too relaxed on the Covid regs for some customers, staff and delivery drivers that came and went, Also rap music at 9.30 in the morning?? that wasn't exactly background volume, NO THANKS!!

Love a Wimpy. Served on a proper plate with Knives and Forks. Food is good quality. We have been a few times and the staff have always been polite and helpful.

Visited during our annual New Year break in lovely sunny Felixstowe.Food here was quite excellent and possibly the best cup of tea in Suffolk !Best of all we found that the young staff were superb , polite , freindly...Keep it up ---see you in 2021.

Going to a Wimpy used to be a seaside tradition for us - it's been quite a while, but we were pleased to see that Felixstowe had one halfway up the main shopping street. We made a point of popping in for dinner around 6-ish on a Monday evening.The staff were young but friendly and attentive, and although the restaurant was fairly small, there was plenty of seating available. We all placed our order and the food arrived in good time, hot and tasty!I was tempted to try the new lime milkshake, but was a little unsure about whether I'd like it - when I enquired if it was good, it was a lovely surprised to be given a small glass to try some - now that's great service. (For the record: I liked it, but wasn't really sure it goes with anything!) It's a bit of a shame that the restaurant closed at 7.30, since we had to keep an eye on the time, but the staff were really attentive and friendly, and I would say if you want a tasty, filling meal on a seaside holiday in Felixstowe, you'll definitely get it at Wimpy!

Hadn't had a Wimpy in years but I took my son for a lunchtime visit yesterday as he had never had one. Service first class despite it being packed and burgers were delicious and the quarter pounder just how I remembered it. So much better than McD or Burger King. Son loved it too.

I took my mother, father and nana here this Sunday (Mothers Day). Exceptional, polite staff who catered to our every need. The food was delicious and well presented. Not just burgers and chips, i had the Gorumet Chicken Salad which was also delicious. All very pleased, would highly recommend to anyone for any age. Will be coming back soon.

called in today as had a quick visit to make , this lovely Wimpy is clean ,with great staff, and so obviously well run ,i found the prices reasonable considering full table service, and good portions. The food was prepared and cooked to order and was just as i remembered it , will try to go again very soon so much better tha mcd or bk.

The Wimpy Makes a welcome change from the American burger bars. that lack the traditional service that Wimpy provided before they reached our shores. How did we ever get conditioned to forsake our knife and fork and eat with our hands! Their burgers taste like real food and a selection of deserts are available. Friendly polite staff and quick service. Much quicker than the computerised order burger bars Pleased to highly recommend.

A few months ago I made contact with Bobbi, the manager, for her help in arranging a birthday party for my best friend turning 40. My friend worked at Wimpy 25yrs ago and to this day says it was her most favourite job and place to work. With Bobby’s gracious skills of being a super relaxed and faithful human being, we made my friend’s morning. All 20 of us, at a long table already prepared. The food, ready to go with no mistakes. The staff, young and super amicable and smiley! All within the setting of a super busy Saturday morning with a wimpy full to the rafters, which is a testament to how well Bobbi runs the place. Great service, super cool. So grateful - it could not have gone better. It’s the people that make a place, not the other way round, great people, great atmosphere, wonderful energy xxx

Went in here last week while visiting Felixstowe. Great to see a genuine Wimpy rather than the gawdy burger bars that blight our high streets today. Lovely burgers, you could see and smell the freshness. Lovely coffee too.Great staff, served by Bubby - such a friendly girl. Wish there was a Wimpy in my home town..

How ever long has Wimpy been in Felixstowe. Stood the test of time with good, quick food and service and very reasonable prices.

Went with parents for dinner who had just made a 5 hour trip on train to see us .. ... only ones in there . While we’re were eating they started closing one end . My Mum got up to go to toilets and as she made her way slipped on the floor that they had washed and fell over on to floor hitting her face on tables in her way day .( We only realised they had put ‘ mind wet floor “ sign up at front on cafe but not from the point where we were sat to toilets on our way out ) , so she hadn’t realised floor was wet . I rushed over to her .. the brushing already appearing ... the owner and one other was there and just said is she ok ? Did not check her or do an accident report or even offer to waver the bill .. my main concern was to get mum out and checked over , and watching the bruising come out on my mum over the next few days upset me and my mum ..

Used to have a Wimpey in my home town growing up so a bit of a step back in time for me! Took my 7 year old son with me and he loved the place! The burgers and chips here are far far better than other fast food restaurants and I wish here was one one more local to where I live (they all shut down as they couldn't compete with the likes of McDonald's) The food was tasty, well priced and came quickly. You have to try the milkshakes! so delicious.

Served a nice quarter-pounder with chips, and brought it out to me as I had my dogs with me. Good service.

Popped in as I had missed breakfast. Great smell as we walked in and were quickly welcomed as we sat down. Lovely friendly staff, seemed like a nice working group and environment. Toilet was spotlessly clean.

We occasionally visit The Wimpy when we want to go somewhere for a quick meal. The food is always of the same standard and the portions a re a decent size though it's a little overpriced for the standard of food.

Long established in Felixstowe, catering for the needs of all. Quality food and drinks at a reasonable price, conveniently located in the heart of the town centre, therefore suitable for all.

My husband and I visited this restaurant in Felixstowe to reminisce, we had not been to a Wimpy in years as we don't have one in our local area. My first impression was that the servers were very young but they were polite, efficient and did a very good job. I enjoyed a cheese burger with fries, it was hot, well cooked and very tasty. My husband had a side salad with his burger and coleslaw which too was very tasty. Well done Wimpy Felixstowe for such efficient service on a very busy lunchtime.

Popped in here with the Grandchildren for an early tea as they consider this a treat. The new décor is nice and service was fast with the food produced very quickly. They enjoyed their choice from the well priced kids menu bit I'm glad that I stuck to my favourite choice of toasted tea-cake as I wasn't keen on the taste of their burger when I had a nibble - not as I remember them from previous visits!

We have been going to Wimpy in Felixstowe for years, the children love the food as its burgers, chips, etc just the sort of things children crave for. Its very clean and the food is served quite quickly.

Not like any Wimpy I recall, the food was not that well cooked, didn't taste very good. For a franchise it does not do the Wimpy brand justice. Whilst you do not expect fine dining, you do expect something that is edible.

Esta crítica es lo que espera encontrar en un restaurante de comida rápida. Compras en Felixstowe con nuestros nietos empezaba cerca de las tiendas y cafeterías cerraba sus puertas para el día. Popped in here for a warm brunch and enjoyed the brunchburger special only £3:99. Arrived quickly, friendly servers. Only issue was loud owner friends and son making lots of noise, still it was half term.

we mostly go into the whimpy if we are hungry and it is around lunch time,they have improved the menu but the premises could be refurbished it is looking a bit tired and showing its age. But having said that the girls are quick and very pleasant, and the food is tasty. they have improved their choice of desserts.

I like Wimpy and have done since the 1970s. A bit pricey but it's cooked as you wait which is good. Fantastic milk shakes on offer.

We visited this cafe when we needed a cuppa quickly. We were offered a toasted teacake and this was lovely. The tea was good and the place was clean. The service was polite and helpful.

Called in about 10.00 on a Saturday morning. It was pretty quiet. Had a 'country' breakfast. Service was good, friendly and fast. Meal was ok and not too expensive.

Whatever happened to the good old Wimpy?!I remember not so long ago when The Wimpy was the pride & joy of every High Street up & down the country serving great value food with their famous meal deals & excellent value for money burgers.Sadly,no more.I recently visited the Felixstowe Wimpy with my partner after a couple of years reminiscing on the great meals we had there expecting that things hadn't changed.How wrong could I be.I was shocked to see that they were charging nearly seven quid for a burger,(my usual quarterpounder) which I thought was reasonable.Until I took a closer look at the menu & realised this didn't include chips!The menu states in small print add your own chips,side orders & a drink.That would have cost us nearly 25 quid for two meals!You must be joking!This is just a cynical marketing ploy in my opinion.If I wanted cheapjack junk food at a fraction of the price then I'd be better off going to McDonalds.This is just extortionate & ripping people off to boost profits.Needless to say,we just walked out & took our custom elsewhere.No wonder the Wimpy is in decline charging these Rip-Off prices.Never again.

Popped in for lunch with my nan and had the jacket potatoes which were nice as we didn't fancy a big meal. It was alright and the staff were pleasant enough, but the place is in desperate need of renovation. Pretty average.

Always a very busy place, mums and babies, toddlers, in fact everyone who wants to eat burgers etc. Food cooked quickly and cleanly.

If anywhere in Felixstowe needs updating, this is the place. Does not look like it's seen a lick of paint or new tables and chairs for decades!! The place is falling apart, what a dive!

Wimpy aren't easily available. We don't have one local to our flat in London. I have been visiting Felixstowe for 20 years as my mum lived there. Went in October and sat at the back. Husband had burger and I had the wonderful sausage I missed. Lots of children in there, but, hey that is normal. Brought back happy memories of before mum passed away and she was housebound and asked us for a takeaway Wimpy.

Often pop in during a lunch time as the service is normally very quick. The staff are very pleasant and we are never kepted waiting around for too long for the food too arrive. The food is always cooked thoroughly and at a price you expect to pay for a burger type establishment. The place could do with a bit of t.l.c as its starting to look a bit tired.

Love it! Always have - always will! Great owner, great Burgers! Been going here since I was an infant! Now 30 years old and still love it! Daughter now owns the business after dad retired! Both very nice people!

The food was great, everything was fresh and tasety. Service at high standards.The only downside of the restaurant is toilet, looks shabby but it's clean.

Went for a quick snack, ordered 2 grilled ham & cheese. My wife found what she thought gum she took it back to the counter and they made her another sandwich without a salad at her request.When the waiter brought her her meal he told us it was not gum, but Blue Tac, needless today it spoiled our lunch.When she went to pay the bill the manager only offered her 10% off. She had an appointment and didn't have time to question his decision. She should at least gotten her meal free.

Hadn't been in a Wimpy for donkey's years, and after today's visit I don't think I'll be going back in the near future. Our meals were very quickly served, but were pretty basic for the price. The restaurant itself looks quite shabby and in need of some TLC - we noticed the strange funnel arrangement, wondering what that was all about! Finally, the toilets are very small and certainly not suitable for disabled people, although they did look clean.

This has great burgers, it is very clean, I love the extended menu which includes toasties and salads.

Terrible decor dragged from the darkest period of post - war austerity, pre - holed vinyl seats which were reluctant to release you when you attempted to rise from them due to their accumulation of previous diners' refreshments, a very average burger that had hints that its ingredients had not come entirely from bovine sources, accompanied by a desultory collection of sad fries that had clearly been prepared in oil that was less than fresh. Those were the highlights of our experience; the other order of "haddock" and chips was so awful as to defy polite description, consisting as it did of a grey mush that if it were genetically proven to be from a haddock must have been formed from an assembly of haddock rectums blended into some kind of paste. Seriously, if I attempted to feed that to my cat he would either have run away from home or have attacked me.The owner seemed aghast at our complaint- he seemed to think what he was serving was perfectly acceptable, and was far from polite or apologetic when my husband raised our concerns.The best bit? He had the audacity to tell us never to return- as if in the craziest dreams of a drug crazed lunatic that would be likely to happen.In short, if you are hungry in Felixstowe do yourself a big favour, and eat somewhere that serves food, or wait until you get home.

I've been going to the wimpy since I was a kid and always used to enjoy it. Recently though I've noticed it going down hill. I've noticed the ketchup, although in a Heinz bottle, is actually not Heinz, and is in fact a cheaper nastier brand. Furthermore there's an issue with a roof leak, which, instead of being fixed, had been dealt with by attaching a funnel to the ceiling, attached to a tube leading to a bucket which is placed on a dining table. This makes the atmosphere dirty. However, I can't complain about the chips and sundaes taste wise!

I had a wonderful meal. Friendly staff way better than McDonald's. Fabulous place to go. I want all family's to have lunch at this amazing place.

Finding this Wimpy was like travelling back in time. It's the UK version of McDonalds but far better. Judging from how packed it was compared to the other places, it was certainly doing something right. They did the ice cream floats and chocolate brownies - heaven.

Good for burger and coffee staff very helpful and friendly. Ideal for families with kids - great coke floats apparently!

I popped in for a reasonably priced lunch on a weekday afternoon and left feeling completely ripped off. Admittedly I was stupid and never looked at the menu but I asked the polite young waitress for a large burger as I was hungry and for chips and a medium coke. She recommended the double quarter pounder with cheese and bacon. The meal was tasty but not spectacular or huge. When I went to pay I nearly fell over when I was told it was £12.75. There are lots of great value places to eat in Felixstowe where the food is healthier and tastier I personally won't visit again.

Currently decorated for Christmas with story books freely available to occupy children and adults. Very prompt service and it doesn't take long for many of the staff to recognise regular visitors and provide their usual drinks. Even after a 3 week holiday break our server remembered how many sugar sachets we needed.

The place is like walking into 1960. Chairs & tables stuck to the floors so you can't get comfortable. Food suspiciously quick, I had an upset stomach after the last 3 times I went there so I won't be returning. Expensive for what they serve. Double the price of McDonald's. And McDonald's is more quality believe it or not

service was excellent the staff were very much on the ball,but the grub oh dear the grub, I had a chicken salad, the chicken had a lucky escape, to be fair there were a couple of chicken shavings, but most of it never ended up on my plate, moutains of lettuce but sod all else, at over £7 it was dear lettuce as for the coffee, don't get me going again. I will give this café a very wide bearth in future.

Have seen the past few reviews left on here and have to say I can't agree with them. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about felixstowe wimpy, the service is great- the staff are so friendly and helpful and such short waiting times. Yes it can tend to be a bit pricey depending on how big a meal you're after, but it's so worth it for their quarter pounders and their special sauce! Their fries are perfectly crispy on the outside and soft in the middle and taste great with a bit of wimpy pepper on them. There's not a thing on the menu my partner and I wouldn't recommend.We love wimpy.

We paid £18 for 2 burgers,drinks and chips and honestly the burgers were tiny and the chips re-fried.We also noticed that tea was being done in a microwave which was appealing.To be honest for something quick and probably cheaper and better I would advise to go to a fast food chain like mc ds and save yourself a couple of quid.

Wimpy always used to be right on the top when we made lists of favourite burgers, but just lately the state of the burger has gone down hill in our estimations, the burger itself has changed beyond recognition, its bland and cardboardish, looks cheaper than it used and doesn't taste nice at all.

The Felixstowe Wimpy has a reputation for excelling itself when it comes to Holidays like Christmas and Easter,they always go full out with the decorations in every booth!Which makes it excellent for taking children at these times.regardless of that tho you always get a satisfying meal here,the milkshakes are fantastic!people tend to say the wimpy is expensive,I don't think so,they are similar prices to their competitors,but you eat off a plate in the Wimpy and you can clearly see your food is fresh and the cooking is not behind the scenes where you don't know whos cooking it or if theres any mucking about.simply when it comes to burgers,the Wimpy cant be beaten.
