Thoght I would try here after a recent dining experience at Bentleys nearby both seafood restaurants. Contrast was mainly in the service, appreciated Wiltons attentiveness and experts in the dining experience but even more so no upselling. A pleasant 4 courses where I asked for temperature on truffled oysters and was giventhe reason for being served warm but not hot, great and a delicious souffle with stilton, as well as fine fish soup and fresh hot breads.

Being over 280 years old, at Wilton’s they very well know how to make of a supper a real British experience. The menu is exceptional, recently with a new degustation menu, which I strongly recommend, things got even better. The staff is polite, friendly and elegant since reception, cocktails well prepared and a fine wine list. Make sure you dress up.

My third visit at this fabulous restaurant where you feel pampered and spoiled from the exact moment in which you step in. We had a pleasant chat with the barman preparing us two delicious mocktails. After few minutes we were accompanied to a beautiful table with the sofa where our waiters took care of us for a very delicious dinner. I had my favorite dish the Stilton soufflé and the fish cake, all magnificent. The ambiance was calm, very relaxing, no waiting times, a very pleasant night as always.

We had a wonderful evening at Wilton’s - the food was first class - we all had the Dover sole and were especially tempted by the beef wellington which looked stunning . The service was first class . The ambience reflects the age of the restaurant and people are eating in one of a number of linked rooms. Whilst your choices can be expensive you get what you pay for. We have already booked to return to celebrate a birthday in August.

It always feels a privilege to step into Wilton’s restaurant with its wood panelled walls, immaculate white tablecloths and napkins, smartly dressed staff and opulent ambience. Their great achievement is to build on this setting by offering exceptional food. At my recent lunch, we started with a glass of very good house champagne whilst studying the menu which is based around traditional British fare. I chose the selection of half a dozen rock oysters from Cooley, Jersey and Cumbrae respectively. These plump, sweet, neatly shucked delicacies were accompanied by a tangy mignonette sauce and the combination was just perfect. To follow, my host and I both opted for the Dover Sole, cooked meuniere and presented on-the-bone. This was a magnificent piece of fish and I cannot imagine any better in the capital. Firm white flesh, plenty of burnt butter and a deep flavour which was accompanied by a chilled bottle of Pouilly-Fume Les Cris 2021 from Domaine A. Cailbourdin. If I had a grumble, it would be the rather dark-skinned Jersey Royal potatoes which were a little too hard and devoid of flavour. I am not a great fan of desserts so finished with a savoury. The Welsh Rarebit also disappointed with a thin white slice of toast and merely a smear of cheese on top. Thank goodness for Worcester Sauce to provide a spicy uplift. However, it was still a wonderful lunch and I look forward to returning soon.

We usually dine at Wiltons when we are in town as we enjoy the great food, service and atmosphere. There are plenty of lovely staff serving you who are friendly and helpful. There is a very extensive wine list. This time we enjoyed salmon ceviche( a new dish on their menu), marinated salmon with dill & mustard sauce( delicious|) for starters, plus we shared a stilton souffle-a must for blue cheese lovers! For drinks we had an excellent whisky sour and a delightful Chablis to start, the we enjoyed a bottle of Morgon-one of our favourites. Your wine glass is kept topped up for you-you do not need to ask, such is the service in this restaurant. For mains I enjoyed lambs kidneys with bacon where English mustard is served to you from a sauce boat!! My partner had the fried cod with crab sauce, though she found the sauce a little too strong. We finished our meal with a couple of espressos. I recommend this restaurant very highly indeed -we will be back soon!

Wiltons is a magnificent restaurant for the following reasons. 1. Large menu, and there are meat dishes as well, so not entirely seafood. The bread and butter pudding is a must-have, please keep room for it (you get a very generous slice). This is served with custard. 2. Beautiful interior, even their carpet bears their logo. I'd describe their interior as sumptuous and traditional. 3. No loud music. This means you can talk to the people you're dining with and don't have a headache the next day. 4. No uncouth and unmannered "instagrammers" who take photo, after photo after photo and pose and pose for photo after photo. When we dined, we didn't even see anyone with their phone out. This makes a dining experience civilised and delightful. Wiltons thankfully does not attract that crowd. 5. Many restaurants rush you, and state a time limit on tables, Wiltons don't do that. We had 4 courses and we stayed for 2 hours, we could have waited before leaving or had another tea. This means you can eat in peace. If you have not discovered Wiltons yet, please do try it out. We will be back there as we're keen to try other dishes on their menu.

Such a lovely way to start the New Year with a lunch visit to one of my favourite restaurants in London. The front desk provides a warm welcome though I wished that the “jacket & tie” dress code for men had been sustained. A well-proportioned man was hovering at the front sporting an over-large zipped up windcheater and open neck shirt. Not at all smart so I hope he was apprehended before he entered the restaurant! What next? Baseball caps on the wrong way round? Back to the good old days of proper standards please. Thanks to ever helpful House Manager, Michael Stokes, we had a delightful table which provided ample screening for our business discussion and the service was discrete but always experienced and timely. The ambience continues to exude quiet luxury. I feel the Seasonal Menu is terrific value (important in a tight and high tax economy) with 3-courses offered for £47.95. My starter choice of half a dozen Carlingford Irish Rock Oysters was superb. Freshly shucked mouthfuls of sweet salty pleasure with a contrasting red wine vinegar and onion dressing. Absolute heaven on a cold winter’s day. From there, I moved to the Carving Trolley and myriad slices of tender honey roasted gammon with creamy mashed potatoes. Spinach (£7.00) and French Beans (£6.50) were extra but worth it. Finally, we both had the gorgeous Bread & Butter Pudding which was light, sweet and sitting in a moat of delicious custard. The wine list is imperious and impelling but not so easy to find a value for money midday measure. I opted for the Tuscan Le Volte Dell’ Ornellaia 2018 for £98.00 which drank well. Plenty of fruit flavour and not too heavy. Overall the bill was a meaty £274.16 for 2 with service now at 15% but this is a very special restaurant.

Second visit after six years and glad to find again the same elegant atmosphere of a place able to mix the best of English tradition in terms of service and food. The lobster, the venison, the salmon, the lamb and the delicious Stilton soufflé so light and tasteful. All accompanied by an exceptional service, there was no need to ask, there was always someone checking and anticipating all our requests. The desserts were no less, we tried the Christmas pudding, the bread and butter pudding, the petit four … wonderful, all of them. One note to reach perfection: a magnificent truffle was presented to us, just arrived from Italy, but there was no need to advertise it with the price of the related risotto… that wasn’t matching with the impeccable Wiltons style.

Our favorite restaurant worldwide is Wilton’s in London. Big name celebrity chef restaurant? No. Fancy innovative new wave cuisine? No. Celebrity hang out? No. Cheap prices? No, but reasonable considering. A (very old) British restaurant serving impeccably prepaired and presented modern British cuisine eg. Last visit I had grilled Dover sole (with perfect cross hatched grill marks!) followed by broiled lamb kidneys - a dish I’d eat nowhere else. Creme brûlée of course. Fresh oysters from select areas are a specialty. Service is as good as the food: quiet, immediate, competent, from wait staff, to sommelier to bussers. Eye contact brings immediate service! Decor is English parlor. Only recent regret, they’ve dropped the mixed grill from the menu, an old and beautifully done plate. Dommage!

And not in a good way. I am heartened to read some recent reviews that sound like the Wiltons of old but I’m afraid my most recent experience matches those who complain of poor service and lowered standards. I am very disappointed in particular about the service. Over one hour we sat waiting for starters to arrive. Having been given menus but no wine list we had to ask for the wine list in the first place and when another 25 minutes drifted by, ask again for the sommelier….and then again to order more wine later on. And so on. The food is still great but the evening felt like just another expensive restaurant in London. Legendary reputation. Terribly English ! Historically, oysters traders and speciality fish restaurant, the menu is now broader. The silver service trolley, with changing 'cuts' daily, is also excellent. Have just seen their 'Coronation' menu and would love to return to sample that.

Beautiful meal and wonderful service. Just wish they had some music playing, evenly subtly in the background as was really too quiet. Would improve ambience, but apart from that excellent meal.

One of my favourite restaurants. I had lunch, the smoked eel with horseradish was excellent, the liver and bacon a revelation and the waiting staff were, attentive, polite and professional. The ambience is of serene elegance and one of the only restaurants of quality that a quiet conversation can take place in peaceful surroundings. I’ll be back.

This is my favourite fish restaurant, now a little tradition, I come here on my birthday each year and for someone who was never fussed about fish….a total covert when I eat at Wilton’s. On our recent visit, it was roast pork day, which looked...

Specializes in seafood but the meat options are also excellent. Real old school service, very high quality decor, extensive wine list. We ate a la carte but there is a very reasonable fixed price option. Lovely experience.

Exceptional dining experience with exquisite food, great service and lovely atmosphere. Everything we ordered, from the freshest simple crayfish with mayo to impeccably executed monkfish Wellington, was superb. The restaurant has also an interesting history you can read in the menu booklet.

A Friday night visit to this restaurant, which was surprisingly quiet, with friends was to try the steaks on offer. Greedily I ordered the chateaubriand to have on my own, and the steak was cooked well for medium rare. The food did not have the 'wow' factor considering how much it cost, however it is a solid enough restaurant if you fancy an expensive steak.

Intelligent menu seems to change regularly. Uncomplicated ingredients sourced well and competently coupled. The food just had that confidence of coming from people who knew what they were doing. Fabulous lunch - very impressed.

This fish and chips place near Oxford Street is average, with a minimum order of £10 per person. They also add a 12.5% service charge for dine-in, which feels unnecessary. Service charges should be optional, especially since food and labor costs in the UK are already high, unlike in the US where servers depend on tips due to lower wages.
