Regency Cafe in City of London, Westminster

We are thrilled to find the Regency Café is just at the corner of our stay when we travelling in London. We went there for breakfast/brunch several times. The cafe is famous for its old-school charm. The full English breakfast-crispy bacon, runny eggs, and generously buttered toast, is a standout. Established in 1946, it retains a retro atmosphere with checkered floors, tiled walls, and a booming voice calling out orders. The prices are reasonable for central London. Expect a queue, especially on weekends, but the efficient service and delicious, comforting food make it well worth the wait.

Brilliant enclave of classic British cafe dining

Painfully average—overhyped for sure! There’s plenty of places that serve better full English at similar prices (especially in east London). It’s definitely a classic English breakfast & service,which is an experience on its own, but the staff behind the register could be friendlier. There’s no option to modify the set breakfast. Things like marmite costs extra. Nothing was great, and nothing was terrible. Although the bubble and squeak was pretty bad as it tasted of old oil

Don’t eat here if you’re not willing to stick to the business of eating. Front counter person is a force; she deserves accolades and a raise. Regarding this review, if I could’ve made it a 10 (a nice round number), I would have!

An authentic English breakfast in a traditional environment, with accessible prices. The cashier lady was impressive to us, because the flow of people was huge. Constantly people were coming and leaving, not being a problem to find a free table.

Good food, fair price, fast-paced energy (not a place to leisurely drink your coffee), but a fun place nonetheless. We stayed not far from here during our trip to London, and stopped here a few times for breakfast. Never disappointed!

I was in this famous restaurant in London. The food and service are very good. The location is a few minutes away from Big Ben. If you visit London, don't forget to have breakfast at this restaurant.

The quality is really excellent, very popular and very busy, the place is famous, a lot of people usually go there and that makes having breakfast another attraction in the city.

I’d been wanting to visit here for quite some time as my friend knows the owner. I went with my niece and we absolutely loved it. We both had the breakfast with toast and added hash browns. There was lots of other choices and they were very cheap. Remember this is right in London, not many places that you would get such a good breakfast for this price. Can’t wait to go again :)

Mythical place to have breakfast in the Westminster area. It's a shame that they are going to close it, so if you want to have a good English breakfast in an authentic place, hurry up.

Cheap cafe where workers and people from the area eat. Very cheap. You only have to order at the counter and wait in line, it fills up quickly. Best time is 9 in the morning.

I went to this place because I wanted to eat a British breakfast. There were many people eating alone and many locals, so I was able to eat comfortably. The woman taking our order was really friendly despite her loud and strong voice. It is good value for money and I recommend it.

At last found a proper cafe in London , no pretence just good wholesome food and very reasonable for the capital . I travel down from Leeds every month and although my business takes me to a different part of the city , it will be worth the journey .

I loved my visit to the Regency Cafe. Classic atmosphere, very efficient staff, locals and tourists of all classes visit here. It’s also the place where many famous movies like Layer Cake, Brighton Rock, Rocketman and many more have been shot. Their breakfast is truly classic proper English breakfast with authentic taste. Pricing and portion size is highly generous. Seating and decoration is humble but fits the place very well. The Cafe is walking distance from Pimlico and St. James Park stations. Something to really experience while in London. Local and tourist favorite place alike for a reason.

I couldn't visit London without trying out a traditional English breakfast! The Regency Cafe was highly recommended and I can definitely see why. There is a famous cashier that yells out orders and it was cool seeing how efficient their team works. There was a bit of a line when we arrived, but it moves quite quickly. What we got: - Set Breakfast Deal (1 Egg, 2 bacon, sausage, with beans or tomatoes, tea or coffee, toast or bread) - Hashbrowns - Black Pudding Final thoughts: With a party of three people, we were able to try just about everything on the set breakfast menu. I found the meats (bacon/sausage) a bit salty but it was fine when eaten with your bread, hashbrowns, and tomato. The breakfast deal is £8.95 and quite a large portion too. If you're in London, this is a great spot to try a traditional breakfast!

The perfect spot for breakfast. There’s often a long queue but this is for a good reason, as this is some of the best full English in London at incredibly reasonable prices. I love the simple, no-frills decor and polite, efficient staff. This café has been a lifesaver for me on mornings after a big party. A real gem of Westminster; as much as I wish I didn’t have to queue, they deserve all the business that comes through their door.

This is a spot that you must visit at least once in your life. The food although readily available anywhere, comes with incredible service and an incredible atmosphere. The way orders are taken in itself are an experience. The food I had was very tasty and portions were very generous. I was given a generous helping of cheese and tartare sauce as part of the price. The chips are so well cooked, I thoroughly enjoyed. There is a wait, however it’s worth it and the lines reduces at pace.

Many queues. But because it's good, it's typical and it's cheap for London. The earlier the better. Workers, neighbors, influencers, tourists mix, and all the menus are affordable. Don't expect luxury, but do expect good treatment. Apart from that menu I ordered 1 juice and French fries, so with all that breakfast I saved lunch because I ended up "blunted", that is, I got fed up, I was full. 😅 PS: Homemade English mustard is bitter like itself. But well, I tried it out of curiosity, but bitter and acidic like itself.

It is a very traditional English-style place where you can try a typical breakfast. The place is normal, you stand in line until you reach the counter where you order breakfast and pay for it. Naturally, they don't allow you to sit down before ordering breakfast. Long queues form. They serve it very quickly. They present it in a very simple way and they make the toast on sliced ​​bread right there on the counter once you order it. They do not heat the “roll” bread. They have bread and butter toast prepared in a box. The food is good but we find it average. You are so used to having so many lines that you focus the service on serving large masses and quickly. They do not have a normal cafeteria operation due to abundance. The price is very correct for the quantity-quality they offer. I recommend going around 9am.

So, I went to this café for the first time because my group decided that was the spot, and let’s just say it was... memorable. As a vegan, my options were limited so I ended up ordering a coffee and a humble slice of bread. That’s when I accidentally triggered the wrath of a very stressed, overworked employee—probably the owner—who clearly felt my order was a personal insult to their culinary empire. It's a real gem for anyone who enjoys their caffeine served with a side of mortification!

A good, typical English breakfast! Quick, organized and tasty. The only downside is that it's not a place to stay for long (although there's no sign that forbids it), but as it's a very famous place, there are long lines of people waiting, so basically people sit down, eat and leave straight away out of consideration for those who are waiting.

Such a terrible owner, she yelled at me because I asked to be seated just 2 minutes after the last order time. I started the day in a very low mood because of her. Never try again…

We had a very tasty, authentic full English breakfast. The lady at the counter is very talented and has everything under control. Great multitasking. Despite the long queue, you got there quickly and were served nicely. You are only allowed to take a seat once you have eaten. The food was great and the price-performance ratio was good.

You must have breakfast here in London at least once. Very busy, you cannot avoid waiting in a line, but that goes quite quickly. Don't expect too much from the interior, the place opened in 1946 and I suspect nothing has changed since then. Make sure you know what you want to order, once it's your turn you have to order quickly. The lady is nice but has no time for a chat. Everything has to be done quickly. The breakfast is really English. Lots of choice. You must have experienced it once.

Despite having been on my doorstep for many years, I only decided to venture there with colleagues as it's a popular spot they go to. It's got a real historic and nostalgic feel to the place. There is sometimes a queue outside, so I'd aim to get there at the very beginning or end. Although it can look busy inside, there is usually an opportunity to grab a seat but you need to order first. Delicious food, I ordered chicken & chips with a chocolate milk drink. Although you can order add-ons, I'm glad I didn't as the portion sizes were huge! You've been warned. It's incredibly filling, I had it for lunch and didn't need dinner. Just be careful with the plates as they're very hot, a tissue should be provided. Don't miss this one, thanks Regency Cafe! Will be back for sure.

Beautiful food and an excellent cafe

Great pricing for traditional British breakfast! Don’t think food tasted any more special than elsewhere because there’s only so much you can do with baked beans, hash browns and toasts. But this place has its own character, extensive breakfast selections and was very popular, had to queue for a bit to get in and they close early as well. You can choose your own breakfast combination.

The perfect place to try the full English breakfast, good prices and very delicious. I found the bacon a little salty. The coffee is strong, very rich. There are long lines and as a recommendation do not occupy a seat if you have not placed an order yet or you will get a good scolding!

I hadn’t been here for nearly 10 years and I was really looking forward to coming again on a trip to London, where I grew up. Sadly it is now overrun with tourists, when before it used to be full of working people. I have to say the black pudding is great, almost like haggis in being very oaty. I did find the bubble a bit bland but perhaps that’s to not offend the tourists’ palate. All bubble and very little squeak. At least the queue was cleared quickly but what I hoped was a fast breakfast before work was more stressful than it ought to have been. But I’m sure instagram and TikTok need to be kept fed.

The breakfast was excellent and very affordable. Portions are generous for the price. The service was great and fast. A must-do in London ! You can’t book in advance, but the wait worth the breakfast.

Didn’t have to wait in line—loving it!

This is a must visit when in London! An old school diner with fantastic food and generous portions! This is what exactly what I think of when I think Diner. Fast friendly service, a great seating plan for everyone to get a seat, and food, the food is great. Eggs, Bacon, Sausage, Fresh Coffee, Hot Milk, Delicious Orange Juice. If you miss it, you missed out!

Arrived here at 830am and had to wait in queue outside for 20 mins before moving to queue inside. Once inside waited another 10 mins before we got to order BUT well worth the wait. Food came within 2 mins of order piping hot and delicious. We had the set breakfast with extra hash browns and black pudding. Clean place but no toilet facilities inside. Great value for money would defo recommend if in area and want a decent breakfast.

Brilliant original British breakfast... Absolute must if you want a good English breakfast. Great value for money. Don't be put off by the queue. There were five of us and everything went great.

Cutest breakfast place I've been to. At first, while standing in line and looking at the history of sports exhibit on ceramic tile walls, you get scared of the throaty lady calling out the orders, but when you walk up to the desk to order, you are greeted by the nicest person ever. Is seems to me that the place is always busy, but she seems to be keeping her cool at all times. Regarding food, it was my first English breakfast and I really liked it. Other people from my group that have already tried it said it was best one yet.

It is a very popular cafeteria, so you will always find long lines, the good thing is that since the service is fast, the lines are not long. We ordered the typical English breakfast, it was good for price, quality and experience. It is a cafeteria that I recommend if you want to try something typical, the service, attention and food are very quick to arrive. I recommend going to this place and going early

Honestly stumbled upon it following Google reviews, I absolutely wanted to eat a real English breakfast, and I didn't believe that I was going to enjoy it so much...! Inexpensive, very good food, pleasant places, just too friendly service, the lady at the cash register is worth the detour alone! Don’t hesitate to queue, you’ll see it’s super fast and surprising…! Go there, you will enjoy yourself. Thank you I will come back next year I hope it will still be open

It was impossible to have breakfast here, at 9am there was a queue all the way out to the street and all the tables were occupied. The place is very small but lots of people come. After walking for half an hour just to try the famous English breakfast, we had to leave.

My expectations were high, we found a very rustic place where they serve you the typical English breakfast or even hamburgers, chicken curry among other combinations. The service is fast. The bacon was hyper salty, the eggs were plain and the rest was more of the same. It is not an essential stop at all.

An iconic cafe with great fast paced service and cheap prices. Servings are large and you won’t be disappointed. As a tourist with the family of four, the queue was long but surprisingly we managed to get a table. It feels like most of Londoners knew that this place is an eat then go place in order for everyone to get a table. The whole restaurant was a well oiled machine. I was impressed with the lovely lady's (at the service counter) thunderous voice when calling out the orders.

Previously loved this London cafe. Took my 10 year old daughter today for her first visit. Long queue as always and most of the tables were empty so I told my daughter to sit at a table for two in the corner out of the way while I queued, she wasn't depriving any customers of a table so wasn't causing a problem. Manager stormed over and shouted at my daughter 'Lady you need to queue', I explained she was with me but he still made her get up and come and queue. After a few minutes I guess he realised his reaction has been pretty aggressive and over the top. He told my daughter she could sit down and he was charming after that. But the damage is done, we won't be back. It has been a family favourite but I don't need this kind of bad attitude.

There was a long queue as always, and I told her to sit at a table for two in the corner out of the way while I stood in the queue as I could see it would take a long time. Most of the tables were empty so she wasn't depriving any customers of a table. The manager came over and shouted 'That lady needs to queue', I explained the small child was with me but he insisted she stand up and queue. After a few minutes he changed his tune and said she could sit back down and he calmed down and was charming. But the damage was done, she told me she had been scared and we didn't really enjoy the visit as a result. We won't be back. Shame as we had previously really enjoyed our visits to this cafe.

The food was very good, but the man who serves is a rude person with little respect for customers... In addition to shouting at all times and not letting you sit at the table until you order the food. This man's manners leave a lot to be desired and for that reason alone, I will not return nor recommend him.

This is my type of place! I found it on Google before I came to London to sort some things in embassy. And what a treat it was! After full breki I was so full it lasted for all day. And just to experience the lady's loud voice when she calls your order, but very normal when you order by the counter ☺ 5 stars from me. Well recommend!

Regency cafe, without wanting to I am sure, is the perfect spot if you are visiting London wanting to do as the locals do by grabbing a full English breakfast and enjoying the early start to the morning. As soon as you enter, it’s buzzing. There is a morning rush from the counter with the lady trying to get the orders in and plates out to customers as soon as they are ready. You have to order your meal before finding a table, be sure to have your mind made up so not to annoy others waiting. We ordered the set breakfast deal - the lady calls out your order when ready. It was absolutely delicious! Simple but very tasty. Highly recommend. The coffee is just filter coffee but we were not expecting a full on barista made coffee. The lady behind the counter was super nice and appreciated that we had made up our minds by the time we got to our ordering.
