One of the best dining experiences ever. It was a great fusion of Japanese, European, and fine dining. The Sukiyaki, for example, is a dish of change and motion. Chef Sato re-defined this motion by having a coated yolky egg in the middle where the flow of yolk after cutting creates the sense of motion. Really well-executed conceptually.

Delicious! Start to finish, each dish was really unique and delicious. You expect to not like 1 or 2 dishes but I was really impressed with the depth and variety of flavours of everything. They also have a non alcoholic pairing as well as a wine/sake pairing, which is a nice touch. The service was really rhythmic, each person was so lovely and attentive. We will definitely be booking again.

Absolutely the BEST dining in London!!! Very lucky to visit twice during my trip for Omakase & then Yakitori Sato. Every course was amazing in taste, flavor & presentation. I still dream about many of the dishes esp the Wild Mussel (beautiful prezo!), foie gras, chawanmushi, shokupan, little piggy 🐷 (adorable!!), wagyu & desserts. Chef Angelo's creative brilliance shines in the imagery of each course. Yakitori Sato was so elevated & flavorful beyond any similar dishes I've had til now. I'm afraid my go-to yakitori eats in hawaii & sf will not measure up after this incredible dinner. I think I just need to return to HC. Chef and team provided exceptional service, very nice/engaging and welcoming. Luv the Playlists 🎵 - makes the entire experience fun and relaxing hang w friends. Dined at several Michelin restaurants during my time in UK & Humble Chicken 🐔 is BY FAR my favorite meals in a very long time. Interestingly enough - at these other starred restaurants the diners were recommending Humble Chicken to fellow diners which just shows how their talent, style, creativity & fantastic service have impressed & amazed us all. Go. Just go.

It is beyond me how a restaurant can be so complete. The second we entered the restaurant we were incredibly welcomed with the joyful atmosphere and the staff being the best I have seen in any Michelin star restaurants I have been to. They were extremely professional while remaining incredibly nice and caring. The variety of the food, exceptional mastery of different ingredients by the chef and the presentation of the dish makes me mind boggled of how this restaurant only has 1 Michelin star. In the Michelin restaurants I have been to I have always had at least one or two dishes I didn’t like but here moving to the next dish was like a divorce for my taste buds of the wonderful flavor I had just encountered. On top of all of these things the song choice was amazing and helped with combining hearing with tasting. By far the highlight of my stay in London and definitely will be sending everyone I know here 😁

My friend and I always come to Humble Chicken for celebrations. Thanks for the team for giving my friend the best Birthtday celebration and accommodated all the requests that I put on the note at the booking. Yakitori is one of our favourites. Chef Sato’s precision to food is simply amazing. The team is very professional but also fun to talk to at dinner. They always remember the food that we like. The champagne and orange wine are my personal favourites. Quality of food and services is always consistent and outstanding. Highly recommend.

Humble Chicken is an absolute gem! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome. The menu begins perfectly with a chicken soup for the soul, laying the foundation for a meal where every bite was an explosion of flavours. The chef’s table experience was a delight, offering a front-row seat to the chefs’ artistry. The liver with persimmons under crushed almonds was an absolute highlight, while the beef tartare served on pines was both visually stunning and delicious. And the little baos? So adorable! Humble Chicken is a must-visit for anyone who loves bold, thoughtful, and beautifully executed food.

Had a dinner EXPERIENCE here the other night. Was a solo diner travelling from overseas and wanted to try one of London’s Michelin restaurants. Was a bit nervous but the vibe was very chill and staff were welcoming and accommodating. Every dish served was an experience and so much variety. My faves were the Mum’s Favourite (chestnut dumpling soup), the Shime Saba, Foie Gras, A5 Wagyu and Shokupan bread, butter and condiments (literally a picnic). The service is well paced but I started to get really full after the tuna tartare and couldn’t finish my sukiyaki. I also did the non-alcoholic drink pairing (which I would definitely recommend to enhance the experience). Some were cocktails that are on their menu. My faves were the Pear & Smoke and Jasmine Martini. The person who created them shared how he came up with the recipe. The vibe is really chill with a nice playlist. Staff were very attentive, professional and engaging. I wish I got their names, but the lady with the blue-dyed hair and the man who created the drinks were excellent! I’m so glad I went. Would definitely recommend to anyone who wants a very chilled/non-judgement solo fine dining experience.

The service was unprofessional and chaotic: the chefs' hair was untied and they wore rings while cooking. Within 5 minutes of confirming the allergies/preferences list, the waiter brought me the dishes containing the above foods. The food is then simply dug up and returned to the table. I can't believe this is the standard of service at a Michelin restaurant. The food itself was ridiculously seasoned, and due to non-subjective lateness (which was confirmed to the restaurant in advance) only five courses were served for the entire meal. The first of these is savoury and scary, the second contains confirmed no-go items, and the third is a buffet breakfast in a business hotel, where at least you have a choice. The fourth "dish" and the fifth lead directly to dessert. Your stomach is only 3/10 full after eating everything. It's hard to imagine you'd experience that at a Michelin. Not to mention the mandatory deposit that makes the meal feel like an extortion scam: it's either 180 pounds for nothing, or a three-hour ride to the rape of taste buds and satiety.

While we booked to eat here, we were unable to attend as the dietary restrictions and inability to adjust the menu to cater for some allergies (egg and tree nut) would have put my gusts at a food safety risk, this is disappointing. However, the communication and customer services was excellent and they refunded the deposit immediately. But I still cannot fathom how they can receive a michelin star while refusing to adapt their menu to cover food allergies. Maybe that is a question for the Michelin Guide though!

First of all, thanks to the staff for being so accommodating. We arrived very late but they were still able to serve us the full menu. Don't be like us: this is cuisine that deserves the time and space required to appreciate. The omakase menu here runs like a modern tasting menu, rather than something like what Kurisu does (which does a handful of starters and then beats you over the head with an incredible amount of incredible fish). The trick that Humble Chicken pulls off is that the palate fatigue that can set in during a long tasting experience never sets in here. I can't tell you how many times I've done a menu where the first 4 or 5 courses are fantastic, then the restaurant acknowledges the fatigue by slapping down a Big Dumb Main Dish. Humble Chicken somehow manages to keep the good times rolling throughout the menu. I think we laughed out loud when the pork bao buns with the little pig face on them came out of the kitchen. It's also worth mentioning the service, which is informed, polite and refined. It's a pleasure to dine with a crew so committed to hospitality. My wife and I would be very happy to dine here again.

Humble Chicken in London is an absolute gem! From start to finish, every dish was a delightful surprise. We started with the wild mussels and foie gras—both were rich and bursting with flavor. The beef tartare was impeccably fresh and seasoned to perfection, while the HFC (Humble Fried Chicken) was crispy, juicy, and utterly addictive. "Little Piggies" offered a playful and delicious twist, and the tomato dish was refreshing and beautifully balanced. The shokupan was soft and pillowy, perfect for soaking up every last drop of the dash and sukiyaki, which were savory and umami-rich. To top it all off, the dessert of mocha and Kentish strawberry was a sublime finish, blending sweetness and freshness in every bite. The atmosphere was relaxed yet refined, and the service was impeccable. Humble Chicken offers an innovative, unforgettable dining experience—definitely one of London’s must-visit spots!

Best dinner we had in London, or anywhere. I am so happy they earned their star this year and that we were able to book a reservation. I'm wondering where their 2nd is to be found as it was apparent to me they deserve it - 2025? The wine + sake pairing is a must if you drink. The food was beyond delicious and creative and beautifully plated. Whoever made the playlist that night should share it on spotify for date night dinner vibes. Watching the chefs at work was so much fun. As someone who can't walk and talk without tripping, I was in awe at how welcoming and social the chefs and hosts were while cooking the best things you've ever eaten. I wish they'd film their way through the omakase menu so I could watch it all again - that's how fun the experience was and how great the chefs were at presenting the plates and pairings. Really excited to see where they go from here :) Hoping that next time we're in London a couple seats are still available.

Absolutely one of the finest 1 Michelin star meals I have ever had. Top 5 for sure. Almost every dish was a hit. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. In particular the Somm went out of his way to change up some of the pairings and to give recommendations on where to source great sake. The chefs were present and engaged and the atmosphere relaxed. The only reason I gave a 4 star rating on atmosphere was the combination of location / noise and that my companion found the seating a bit uncomfortable. Counter style omakase as is typical in this level / style of Japanese Kaiseki so knowing this I was fine with it. Specifics on individual dishes in the photos but I will call out the HFC - Hungry fried chicken - as one of the only successful caviar plus fried chicken (oyster) dishes I have ever had.

The food is exquisite, but I’m not here to review the food. I’ve been three times with various family members and friends, including Matthew, who left the review below mine, and I can share their thoughts: Pauline (big sister): “It was a taste sensation and a meal to remember. In a wonderful setting. With great company” (Mark’s note: aww!)
Martin and Imran (life long friends and Michelin Star restaurant connoisseurs): “The best meal we’ve ever had.”
Matthew (another life long friend, and my companion that evening see review below): “An experience on a par with the birth of my Son.” Matthew had the wine and sake pairing which, if it affected his judgment, can only have done so in a manner that speaks very highly of the wine and sake pairing. Now, it’s my turn, I want to review the service, because I experienced a level of service that most people will never receive anywhere.

Because I’m left handed. To explain: Initially you’re seated with a pair of chopsticks in front you, positioned to your right, as you’d expect. The first thing I did was to move them to my left side. From that point onwards, everything that was served to me, was positioned for my left hand. All the drinks, and food items. I didn’t say anything to anyone about it, but someone noted the position of my chopsticks, and all the servers adjusted accordingly. I’ve never had that happen to me before, anywhere. The kicker was the main course (short rib - heavenly, my only comment on the food). For this we were provided with an additional knife and fork, placed on a napkin for each of myself and Matthew (my dining companion that evening). Matthew had his fork to the left of his knife, as you’d expect, and mine, had the fork on the right. I was honestly blown away by that. I’m not sure how many people would notice or care, but I found that level of attention to detail quite extraordinary, and I absolutely appreciated it. Over the coming years, I intend to bring pretty much everyone I love here. Next year my brother and his wife celebrate their 50th birthdays, and 20th wedding anniversary. They live just outside Edinburgh, and I’ll be bringing them here to celebrate. Some of my dearest friends in the world are coming to visit next year. I’ll be bringing them here too. I could go on, but I think you get the gist. (btw, I’m not looking for any special treatment by telling you this. I’ll be coming regardless, and, besides, what more could you give?)

If I was to try to describe the dining experience I would say that it took me 20 years to be a parent and it’s the most incredible thing. (My son is now 6). Tonight at Humble Chicken can only be compared to the day of my son’s birth…… a whole new experience which blows the mind (and palette). Truly as memorable as the day Richard was born. Each course was phenomenal and the wine pairings were incredible also. Cannot say thank you to Mark for taking me, oh to the staff for being so incredibly talented and welcoming. They truly have a passion for what they do and their smiles carry to their eyes as they engage with you. My only complaint is that I don’t possess a millionth of the talent and will be returning to my own Home cooking tomorrow. I would say I have been ruined beyond belief. But that’s hard to say when I feel I’ve had one of the best experiences of my life. In truth, it will inspire me to be more adventurous in my home cooking and to make a date to return, to humble chicken with family and friends

Over the years I've been lucky enough to go to some amazing establishments, but in the way of a culinary experience, this is one of the best my son and I ever experienced. Me and my son had the pleasure of sitting through 12 amazing dishes that we had and a compliment drinks menu with. (Highly recommend) Have to say it was amazing, from the warm friendly service to the precision and presentation of the dishes is second to none. If you're thinking about going, don't hesitate, book it and enjoy!

One of the best meals of my life. Every course was spectacular. I've eaten omakase dinners worldwide, and this one will be remembered. The service was top-notch, and I can't recommend the sake pairing enough. We will see you again every time we return to London. Thank you!

We were so impressed by the whole experience! Everything was so relaxed and friendly. It was great that we got to speak with most of the team, we were treated like royalty by everyone. Food was exceptional, it was a privilege to watch it be so lovingly prepared in front of us. The background music felt a little out of place but the randomness of it made for a talking point and added to the experience itself. Thank you so much for the extra birthday touch...you made it one to never forget.

Everything was perfect. We believe we had the best seats in the house right where the chefs cook and prep. Given that its a small counter top venue of 20 (ish) seats we could have been in the corner or the far end of the counter. Truly lucky. Thanks to the team. The food was exceptional, every bite better than the last. The staff were attentive and engaging, they didn’t mind interacting and sharing their thoughts with us. Even put a candle in the dessert and signed a menu happy birthday from everyone to my wife.

Exceptional flavours. Diverse menu. Attentive waiters. Every one of the 12 plates of food had a story. It’s certainly not cheap and takes 3 hours to complete, but this is a really special restaurant.

The tasting menu was fantastic, with an amazing range of taste and textures. We even played a game where we tried to pick our favourite dish, and then proceeded to run through the whole menu. The drinks pairing seemed spendy at the start, but turned out to be well worth it. Great diversity that excellently paired with each dish, and the enthusiasm in the description when pouring really added to it. Thank you.

I just had lunch at Humble Chicken and holy moly was it amazingly delicious. One of the best meals of my life. Every bite was an explosion of flavor and the progression was so well done. There wasn't a mediocre dish and there were many dishes. Left stuffed but it wasn't too much. The staff was also superb and I really enjoyed the ambiance (easy to have a conversation but not stuffy/quiet). It was a wonderful rollercoaster of a meal. 100/10 would revisit.

We got to talk with the chef/owner and some of the other staff and they are all very passionate and are executing phenomenally. Recommend getting your booking in and experiencing what they have to offer!

Gosh, I don’t know if the place is simply overrated or we caught the kitchen on a bad day. But for £500 price tag for 2 there are better restaurants to go to in London. Firstly, there is nothing humble about this place. Yes, the signature Humble Fried Chicken is a delight, but foie gras and caviar are not humble and they make appearances twice in the menu. So, for me the brief is missed. I’m also not sure every guest being told to “smash” the opening Otoro dish speaks of particularly humility but rather decadence, which is fine were it not for the name and theme of this place. The standout dishes are the tomato celebration and the fish Dashi, they both transported you else where. However, the little piggies bao buns barely tasted of anything and the presentation was basic, it seemed like a gimmick. And the Shokupan picnic just seemed like a dish to fill your stomach although the pickles are really special. The Sukiyaki dish was nice but too rich and too late in the game, so by the time dessert came round, watching someone struggle to grate a tasteless but giant strawberry did nothing for me. The Purin dessert has an interesting flavour profile, but at the end of so much butter, I was unable to finish it, and it is here there is a brief reminder of humility as it comes wrapped in old menus… They’ll parcel you off with a chamomile tea to take home, which after such a poorly executed and overly rich menu, you’ll need to help you digest. Lastly, the music, is awful. Michael Bolton and Craig David are not what I expect in a venue of this standing.

I travelled from India for this meal and it did not disappoint. One of the best dining experiences I have ever had. Everything from the food to the atmosphere was perfect. You could really tell that every single item was well thought out and appreciated the way each chef/staff member explained in detail what we would be eating. The service was amazing and felt very comforting, which I did not expect initially. I will definitely be coming back whenever I’m in London next. The beef tartare tart, tuna, and the strawberry dessert were my favorites. I hope they make the tuna course a permanent on the menu. Thank you Humble Chicken team!

Our lunch omakase at the Humble Chicken was amazing. The food was outstanding - every course was prepared in front of our eyes with utmost care and a level of detail which was simply impressive. Especially the foie gras, hazelnut, melon course was exceptionally good - a real umami flavour bomb. Also the service was very attentive and made sure to provide an excellent experience while keeping the atmosphere welcoming and comfortable without it feeling too formal. We were visiting London for a weekend from Germany - and stopping by Humble Chicken was the highlight of our trip. It wasn't our first Michelin star restaurant we visited, but so far, it was the best. Many thanks to the team for the spectecular experience!

I like the chef Angelo's enthusiasm, but the food was below expectations, especially considering the very high price. Also, there was an annoying detail, when we arrived at the restaurant, the waiter wouldn't let us sit where we wanted at the counter. When we later asked for a reason, he explained that the spot was for three people, not two. However, this didn't make sense because the restaurant was full, and only two people were sitting there.

A wonderfully executed Japanese tasting menu. Some absolutely delicious dishes and a well weighted menu that leaves you full at the end but not gasping for air. As with many tasting menus it's really hard to nail the mains after such scrumptious snacks and starters. Highlights being the scallop and foie gras that were almost perfection. The mains were good - the place still deserves 5 stars because execution was perfect and the overall experience was fun. Finishing off with a great deconstructed cheesecake and then some Japanese custard (which I wasn't a fan of but I can appreciate who'd like this). Given the price it's 4/5 for food but the overall experience is worth it. I'd say that the entire start of the menu is perfection and the mains just lacked the oompf that left you going WOW. If you're into your wines then ask for the Humble Book and look at their collection. They have some smashing things that will combine very well with the different dishes. We picked a Tameran that was perfect but if you want to go all out then get the Lumiere.

This amazing restaurant is an incredible experience in every way as the story of the beautiful menu unfolds! The pre excitement starts as people gather outside for the first evening sitting. Inside, there are glimpses of readying activity and a team meeting. Then, the doors open to a very warm welcome from super friendly staff and settling in at the intimate bar counter. With a great vibe and reminiscent soundscape, the joy begins! At a delightful pace, inventive dish after tasty dish is presented like a ballet by the entire team led charismatically by Chef Angelo Sato. Every course is prepared in front of you, decscribed with insight, and offered up with a standard of culinary choreography borne of hours of practice and precise attention to detail. It's a sublime experience of tastes, textures, and flavour culture - some reminiscent, some playful, some brand new! Lots of surprises but in such a relaxed ambience that one can relax and truly enjoy the tastebud theatre! No rush, no hype, no hauteur. Totally recommended!

Nice Michelin star cousine that needs further performance development! - Wild Mussel Avocado - nicely balanced, good spices 9/10 - Hand-Dived Scallop - nice, but lacks character 7/10 - Charentais Melon, Foie Gras, Hazelnut - nice but lacks character 7/10 - Beef Tartar, Spicy Miso, Bone Marrow - nicely developed flavors 8/10 - HFC - Humble Fried Chicken - tender chicken, garlic tartare, caviar - chicken too hot for a bite snack, which probably spoiled the combination 8/10 - This Little Piggy - mini pork bao buns - tender, cool design 7/10 - Shokupan - Australian winter truffle, chicken liver parfait, parsley - Japanese brioche combined with butter layers of truffle, parsley, and chicken liver parfait - fantastic. Condiments nice but unnecessary 9/10 - Sashimi - quality ingredients, expected taste except for one of the five, which exceeded expectations 8/10 - Dashi - wild black seabream, seaweed, shiitake & ginger broth - sleek and delicious 9/10 - Sukiyaki - short rib, Cévennes onion, crispy egg - nice and as expected, without an a-ha effect 8/10 - Cheesecake New York style, with fresh frozen mandarin ribbed - nice flavor, but nothing new 7/10 - Purin - Japanese custard, tea flavored with caramelized sugar - light twist in taste 8/10 - Service elegant, informative, pleasant, and inviting. Good pairing choice of sake and French wines with good storytelling.

Lets start off with the beginning of the experience. So it seems if you book just before the opening time, then you are likely to have to stand around and wait for them to open. So, that's that, next the welcoming was wonderful, and the staff seemed very inviting. As for the seating, everyone is sat on the half rectangular table; bare in mind that not everyone walks in at the same time so you'll be smelling dishes you either had or hadn't had already. I do feel the need to comment on the music, as it did not reflect on the food or atmosphere not one bit- the playlist was far from classical or Japanese style music. There were a few great dishes including the mussels, KFC and Melon under snacks to name my personal favourites. The bread (1 loaf per 2) that was brought after snacks was absolutely divine ! Their fried chicken was their main show stopper, but I did wish that they'd incorporate that level of flavour and texture into many more of their dishes. One of the cuts of Sashimi did have an inedible line of muscle to it which wasn't the greatest, but then again, the other plates surrounding were decent and clean tasting. But let me also tell you this, don't let the platting /images fool you as the portion sizes are actually tiny! Service was great (Although- I must notify you that service charge was optional and is at 15%). Overall, if you want to experience a different vibe to your usual Michelin starred restaurants, then this if your place to go.

We went to the restaurant on 10/02/24 for a significant birthday treat. I’m not a food critic or expert, but the food was terrific and the restaurant had recently won a very well deserved Michelin star. We were warmly welcomed in, then given a very informed run-through of the drinks menu by the maître d' . We opted for some Sake then white wine, both of which complimented the dishes very well. We had opted for the tasting menu. This had been meticulously thought out and evidently influenced by the food of Japan (‘Land of Soy sauce! And Mothra!’ [we’d seen a matinee of ‘The Book of Mormon’ prior to the meal]). The dishes were not only outstanding but also visually entertaining (eg the mini piggy burgers called ‘This Little Piggy’). The service was excellent, with chefs and the maître d' serving the food and at the same time giving the background to the dishes and their respective ingredients in a friendly and engaging manner, injecting welcome humour into the proceedings in addition. The experience was enjoyably theatrical with plenty of opportunity to see the chefs preparing the various dishes with aplomb. Overseeing all was the commanding presence of the owner, Angelo Sato, evidently - and rightly - proud of his restaurant and team; of his Michelin Star; and of the buzzing atmosphere he had cultivated. He served us some of the dishes himself, with charm. They kindly provided us with a menu to keep, signed with birthday greetings from the team and also gave us some take-away exotic Japanese tea bag infusions. Wonderful experience. Would go there again - at the drop of a kasa 笠!

I loved my visit to the Regency Cafe. Classic atmosphere, very efficient staff, locals and tourists of all classes visit here. It’s also the place where many famous movies like Layer Cake, Brighton Rock, Rocketman and many more have been shot. Their breakfast is truly classic proper English breakfast with authentic taste. Pricing and portion size is highly generous. Seating and decoration is humble but fits the place very well. The Cafe is walking distance from Pimlico and St. James Park stations. Something to really experience while in London. Local and tourist favorite place alike for a reason.
