A very pleasant dining experience with a fair choice on the menu for these reduced Covid times. We choose the barbecued spare ribs which were excellent and other foods in the restaurant looked and smelled good. We did not have to wait long for the food as the service was very good. We followed the ribs up with an excellent cheese board and a glass of Malbec. A big bonus for us was no shrieking uncontrollable children in the dining area as they tend to go for the hotel chains. All in all a first class meal at a reasonable price. Thoroughly recommended for dining if you are in the area.

We ate in the restaurant the second evening of our 2 night stay at the hotel and wished we had eaten here the First evening too! Freshly cooked to order, we thoroughly enjoyed our food. The restaurant was quiet and we were did not feel hurried, service was relaxed and friendly, with the hotel owner happy to have a chat.

We had read some views on the place but went there to see for our selves, great little restaurant and the host is a real character, down to earth and a good laugh, the food was great the menu was not huge but the fare was great, I have paid twice as much for less in many other places, we had two main meals( mine was a ribeye steak) soft drinks coffee and hot chocolate and it was less than thirty six pounds!!! so give it a try.

The food here is excellent and is really good value. The menu is not large and includes Steak and Ale Pie at £9.95, Lamb Shank at £13.95 and Sea Bass at £14; all of which are highly recommended. Steaks and burgers are also available and the starters are typically £5 to £6.

Tucked away on the other side of Ross, but a nice spot near the river, very homely feel and beautifully run. They were even kind enough to give us a lift to Symonds Yat next morning to save us a tortuous bus route...! Would highly recommend!

We had lunch here on a day out touring the area arriving at 1pm. Our meal was taken in the bar which is wood panelled and has a log fire. There were 10 others dining when we stared. 3 more came after us. We had white bait followed by steak and coffee (served in a pot with petit fours) coffee and a glass of wine. Very friendly staff. After lunch we sat in lounge where there is free wifi and researched our next move, we went to Leominster and found fab antiques! Cost £62.

We chose this hotel almost at random for a quick mid-week break. It's a pleasant stay, just outside Ross. Our room had a good view of the river and the spire in the town. Just a short walk away we were able to relax and drink beer at the riverside whilst watching kingfishers and herons. There was a good choice for breakfast [inc strawberries], a pleasant little bar and a car park just the right size for the hotel.Thank's guys...we'll try to come back again.

We had the wedding package here for 60 people and the day was perfect in every way. Georgina and her team were great hosts, they were helpful in all our preparations and made sure everything went smoothly. We had several meals here before the wedding which were all good and our wedding meal was exellent and very well presented. We stayed here on the wedding night and family stayed in 2 of the other rooms, all rooms were clean and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and the heart shaped toast was a nice touch for us newly-weds. Thanks again.

We visited for Sunday lunch with family. There was no atmosphere within the hotel. The starters were ok. The carvery however was lukewarm, small amount of gravy on the meat and veg served for you (with no extra gravy given). There was a choice of 4 desserts but I felt did not include something for everyone. Cheesecake, Pannacotta, Chocolate brownie or Bread & Butter pudding. My husband asked if there was any specials or would it be possible to have something else. No was the answer. I asked for cream to accompany my cheesecake. It was served without. The waitress stood at the end of the table and waited for us to stack our plates and pass them along. Two of us had coffee to follow of which this was served with milk not cream. Very disappointing overall - we have eaten at other venues for less than this for a three course and have recieved better food & service. Would not be in a rush to go back. I feel the hotel is trying to be something it is not. Most people are looking for value for money, good home cooked food without any frills.

I represent a Men's Supper Group who meet at the Castle Lodge Hotel every other month, and have done for some years. We always have a 4 course meal followed by a guest speaker. Carlos, his wife and staff unfailingly make us very welcome, the food is consistently of a high standard and the accomodation has been perfect for our needs. Many of the group eat here individually too, and we recommend the hotel to our friends who need overnight B&B or a holiday stay.

We were staying on the Malvern View Country and Leisure Park for a weekend stay which we could not fault. However, we dined at The Old Barnhouse on the Saturday evening and unfortunately the food was terrible. We waited for nearly an hour and when the food arrived it was half cold. My mother and father had scampi and chips, no peas and they were out of tartare sauce! My sister and I had the New Yorker chicken which consisted of a huge portion of coleslaw that wasn’t very nice and the chicken was small and if poor quality. My daughter had a kids pizza, chips and beans which was just about acceptable. The five meals and a round of drinks came to over £80 which was appalling for the quality of the food. Avoid The Old Barnhouse for food! Pleasant enough for a drink.

Rude, extremely disappointing, shocking and disrespectful staff! We arrived after making a booking the day before. I booked 2 Adults, 1 child aged 2. The booking itself was pleasant. We got slightly lost, rang in and again very pleasant. Arrived 7 minutes late and walked into a very ‘local’ pub feel. All eyes on us. We were told by the bar person that they were glad we found them. A woman appeared and looked at my Grandson and commented ‘we don’t have highchairs’ I commented that I’d booked ahead with a child on the booking? She said she would go down in the cellar and dust something suitable to bring up then asked me if I had a chair in my car???!!!! We approached the bar and I said I was confused as I’d booked a child ahead of coming. I was ignored, I said once again and the younger woman behind the bar looked at me and in a slightly raised voice utttered ‘well, yes she’s gone to get you something hasn’t she!!’ Based on this experience I told my Friend we were leaving as being treated like this was way beyond acceptable. I wasn’t happy and I let it be known! My Friend and I were left shocked and felt we had been treated appallingly by 2 extremely rude women. Whilst we were putting my Grandson in the car the older women came out and further patronised us with her offering of a dusted off cellar chair and we told her that her colleague was vile and it had gone beyond the chair. She walked off. Having read through the reviews I can see hands have changed and so this may be why I didn’t receive the reputation I had heard of. I have the feeling they felt they were above us! I’m not easily impressed so their Morgan cars and gold large Baroque chairs only further deepens my suspicions that they think they’re better 🤣🤣

I ordered a pork roll with apple sauce and crackling. The crackling was a tiny square and the apple sauce was merely a smear. I ordered a latte and my wife ordered an Americano, I forgot which was which so tasted each and couldn't tell the difference. We both left our coffees and went to Coffee #1 for a decent cuppa. Shame
