Who needs to go abroad when you can sit outside at this little gem, absolutely fantastic when the sun is out shut your eyes and you could be anywhere, landlady has a brilliant sense of humour and looked after 10 of us brilliantly will be back again…..

What a great find, very friendly, good prices and a great terrace to sit out on. This would sure be my local if I lived in Scarborough

Just went in for a casual drink. The pub was nearly empty but all the tables has reserved signs on which was a kitty lie strange. The landlady asked if we were staying for the entertainment ? Which as we didn’t know there was any, said we would be. She then shows us to a reserved table and said we were welcome to sit there as they now only needed two seats. The pub started to fill up very quickly and it was obvious that the majority were all locals as everyone seemed too know everyone else. Although we were outsiders all those sat nearby were very friendly and made the afternoon so enjoyable. The entertainment, a Cher tribute was excellent. I can’t stress how friendly and welcoming the staff and customers were and don’t hesitate to recommend this place as a must to visit on a Sunday afternoon. We will definitely be back.

Nice bar staff and regulars very friendly , beer well kept . beware of the steep streets and narrow easier to walk to than drive to

We went in here for a pint. Thought, this is a really nice place. Everyone seems friendly. So much so, that we went for a walk and decided to head back there for another porter. Entertainment comes on. Bit old school, sexist comedy between songs. But it's fine, just like that uncle at the party no one really likes, who's flirting with anyone he can. Decide to stay a bit longer. Partner goes up for another pint for himself. And then, full on racist jokes from Ric, the entertainment guy. Not, a little racist bants about differences between him and his neighbour (which I still wouldn't have been okay with) but full on, P**i Dave rubbish which everyone seemed to think was hilarious. Needless to say we didn't stick around after that. Apparently he is a regular, beloved guest so cannot recommend avoiding the place enough.

Fantastic pub, good selection of beers at reasonable prices, great location just off the the front, balcony terrace. Hosts couldn't be more accommodating, going out of there way on numerous occasions, will definitely return.

We have just stayed at the Wilson pub for 1 night. It was excellent, the service was that good we felt like V.I.P's. The rooms are clean and have all you need including tea and coffee making facilities. The outside terrace was amazing, I couldn't believe the view. We will definitely be returning, we were made to feel very welcome by both the staff and the customers. Tina is definitely an excellent landlady. Thank you

Came here on our first night of our holiday and because we were made to feel welcome we came back the next 6 nights .The bar staff are lovely and friendly .

We visited wilsons a few times over our 5 days in scarborough.it’s a proper sun trap,looking over the South Bay.on a Sunday afternoon they have entertainment.the staff and landlady try their best to accommodate people,on the terrace or inside.the prices are very reasonable,and the cleanliness and Covid measures are very good.a must pub to visit if only to enjoy the scenery.

Found this bar by chance & glad we did , it has the most amazing views over looking Scarborough. The Waitress was excellent always cleaning spraying & asking if anymore drinks were required. Beer prices were excellent for the views you got. A must visit bar if your in Scarborough.

Really friendly people in this locals pub. It has now got a garden on the rooftop with the most magnificent views of the south bay - weather permitting!

went with 3 friends yesterday and was spoken to very rudely by the landlady of the pub saying we not welcome A----

We spent 1 night at the Wilsons Pub, this is the friendliest pub we have ever visited, their Covid measures are second to none, we felt so safe, Tina and Gary were constantly sanitising their hands every time they went back to the bar after delivering drinks. The locals in this pub made us so welcome, by the end of the night, we felt like locals ourselves. We joined in the quiz which was so much fun and really well organised. The variety of drinks on offer is fantastic and very reasonably priced - the better half likes flavoured Gin, there were lots of choices to choose from and the beer selection was vast! Something for everyone. The room we stayed in was great, really clean with a lovely bathroom and a great shower. The bed was really comfortable and the room included a TV and of course toiletries. If you're in the area and want a great drink at a SAFE friendly place, served by great hosts, this is the place! We will be back!!!

Visited while in Scarborough this weekend as heard was dog friendly but the landlady was lovely to everyone dog or human. Lovely pub with a nice atmosphere, very clean and very safe and covid friendly. Will be back in march and will definitely return here.

Visited on a Saturday afternoon, perhaps not the best time to experience the place as it was full of people watching football on TV.However, the staff seemed to have all the Covid-precautions well organised, and after ordering a pint from their good choice of ales, I was shown to a balcony area upstairs.I had to sit on a single chair between the other tables & next to the door, but the views over the bay were very nice, and there were some groups of proper characters there (not rowdy, just having good humoured - if occasionally foul mouthed! - fun).My pint was good, but even on the balcony the noise from the football people was a little loud for me, so i supped up and moved on.

Friendly pub in back street, worth finding. Great range of real ales which were in excellent condition. Staff very friendly. Large tv shows sport. Nice vibe; well recommended.

Went in there on Saturday night lovely pub and a wonderful landlady who can run quicker than usain bolt, she even joined in with the conga on our way out would highly recommend loves big groups of mature sensible men

Stayed here again in August can't fault it but best feature to me is the great staff and management Tina and Ben are friendly to everyone great selection for you real ale drinkers and the improvements they have made to make it safe for everyone are great with new outside areas and option to book a table if you are worried you can't get in everywhere is spotless with tables continually cleaned and lots of hand sanitizer even antibacterial wipes in toilets reasonably priced rooms if you want to stay always our first stop and last while in Scarborough

Came in here for a drink having visited a few times in years previously. However the warmth and character that the pub once had (with pictures of old Scarborough and other items having all gone) was no longer. We were directed to an upstairs outside terrace and had to contend with a rowdy bunch, one of whom kept getting up and pretending to be a seagull!!

Came across this pub by accident trying to find a short cut back to our hotel The pub was warm and friendly like it’s staff and what a choice of real ales I was in beer heaven I will definitely revisit next time we are in Scarborough

Had a couple of drinks here. The exterior was the reason for entering as it was so authentic. Original stained glass windows. The landlord was very welcoming. Will pop in again the next time we are in Scarborough. Thanks

We have walked past this place many times and in the summer it is very busy and noisy. So last week when it was cold and quiet in Scarborough we popped in, the place is bigger than expected, clean and a lovely warm welcome from the Landlord. The Guinness was the best in the area, so will definitely return (but in the quiet months)!!

A lovely, welcoming, friendly local pub. We were staying just opposite and popped in and stayed the rest of the evening. Dog friendly and no children which was just perfect! Everyone was really friendly and chatty. Great beer!

We had a great night with a group of accommodation providers. The pub staff were friendly and welcoming . The atmosphere was Xmas cheer . I would recommend Wilson’s to others for great hospitality and atmosphere.

After a freezing walk around the park we stopped because the pub advertised itself as dogs welcome, no children. This was a welcome sign because our dog is nervous around kids. He settled and slept while we had a couple of drinks. The place is clean, polished and friendly. Would recommend for anyone liking a child free, sports bar where your pet is welcome.

Situated just off the beaten track is this great little pub. We received a very friendly welcome and there was a really great choice of ales, which were very well kept. Music was at just the right level too. We shall return.

Every Sunday afternoon at 4.00 pm, ther is a tribute act on. Very lively and full of friendly locals. Also reasonable bar prices

Nice looking friendly adults only pub. Friendly bar staff / landlord. Served a nice pint at reasonable prices. Good mix of ages among the customers; clean toilets. Very pleasant overall.

My wife & I visited on a Monday lunchtime, attracted by the sign "no children". We had 2 Jack Russells and were made very welcome. We drank Moonshine beer which was in perfect condition, & had a good chat with Gary the landlord. It was a blessing that there were no kids running around which unfortunately seems to be normal in pubs these days. The pub was clean & tidy, and as far as we were concerned at excellent find.

Love going to Wilson’s when visiting Scarborough. Garry keeps a good cellar and the atmosphere is alwaŷs good.

Just a short walk from the front this pub is a must visit. Bar staff attentive and prices are very good definitely worth a visit don't let the slope put you off.

Called in with friends while on holiday in Scarborough on a Sunday afternoon. There was a good singer on and the atmosphere was great. Will call again when in town.

We Saw this Pub as we were walking around Scarborough, what caught our eyes was that it said on the door Dogs welcome but no children allowed, I know I am old fashioned but I cannot stand children running around out of control in a pub while their parents sit there and let them do anything they want while they ignore them, The price of beer is one of the best in Scarborough £ 3:00 a pint for Abbydale Moonshine which I had plus there is five other hand pumps with Real Ale Available, A great place again with a good atmosphere and friendly staff and you can strike up a conversation with other people who are visiting Scarborough.

Such a lovely friendly pub. Makes you feel welcome straight away. We was staying nearby so popped in several times over the Easter period. Good beer with several choices to choose from. Easy access to town and the sea front. Rooms are available if you need somewhere to stay. Been modernised since our last visit and very nice it is. Dog friendly as well which is a bonus if you go away with your pets. Mine are pub friendly as you can see on the picture.

We were introduced to this venue by my brother in law who frequented the Hole in the Wall in Scarborough before the couple who have now moved to Wilsons had it. The couple are from Hull and have tribute acts appearing there. We went on the 5th August when Meat Loaf was on very good but very noisy. The pub needs some attention on the outside but inside is reasonably newly renovated. Large selection of real ales, all in all a great experience.

We visited Wilson S last year and loved the pub. We were unsure what to expect following a change in management but we need not have worried.

From the outside it looks like a traditional pub. Inside it looks like a mess. The tables needed a good wipe. There was a limited selection of beer. But it was quite cheap.

After a while of searching round pubs on Scarborough front for one that would be showing the soccer Saturday football scores we decided to take a look behind the Main Street and spotted this pub nicely perched high up on a little steep road.

In a day and age when children are allowed in most pubs and bars, it is nice to find somewhere where it's just adult friendly. Not having children, I don't want to be looking out for the next toy being thrown!! I know I am generalising, but it's a haven.

You will always have a friend here. People gather here to drink and chat. The best landlords in the world. Diligently working and providing a relaxing space and fantastic singers every weekend.

Spent a couple of hours over lunch to watch the Royal Wedding last Saturday. The landlord and landlady really made an effort on the day with free snack food for customers. We were in Scarborough for the weekend so enjoyed our visit

Traditional pub, no loud jukeboxes playing, no slot machines, just pure bliss. This is a put where you talk to one another, something lacking in a lot of places. The landlady and stay are very welcoming and make you feel like you have always been a local. This is one place where I can't wait to return.

An interesting location on a steep hill up from the South Bay ( or down St Mary's Steps from The North Bay) Outside looks invitingly "olde worlde" if you know what I mean but inside is pretty ordinary. The lady behind the bar was very nice and her dogs were all very friendly too. The wine,out of those infuriating small bottles was awful. The proprietors should take it back to their suppliers and select a better quality brand. Question: Why do all the pubs in Scarborough have an obsession with clutter and paraphernalia? Had one drink and walked to Wetherspoons!! Like so many bars in Scarborough, could do with a facelift into the 21st century

tracy and john are great friendly people, when I go to scarborough I always go and visit them, because when you arrive it doesan,t matter how many people are in the bar they have always time to chat to you. what more can you ask for. LORRAINE sowerby bridge, Halifax.

Tradional, friendly pub, West Sandgate. You might need google maps to find it. Tucked away on the way up to St Mary's Church. Found it by accident recently when walking back to North Bay. Made really welcome, the landlady made me a coffee to go with the brandy. No food on but it was evening and we'd eaten. Will definitely be going back when next in Scarborough. They have letting rooms as well.

Venture up a very steep side street, bear right at the driftwood shop and you will find Wilsons. Looks beautifully inviting with the window boxes and olde worlde black and white facia. Sit in a window and admire the thickness of the walls. Bar staff welcoming and friendly, well worth seeking out.
