Wilnecote Fish Bar in Tamworth

We had a family birthday party and Wilnecote Fish Bar supplied a fish and chip supper for 25 of us. The food was delicious and the service was fantastic. Everyone loved their meal and I would highly recommend this to anyone. We will be returning soon.

AVOID!!! HAIR FOUND IN FOOD. Visited this evening on my way home as it was one of the only fish shops open. The service straight of the bat wasn’t great, there were about 4 women just stood there chatting and seemed very disinterested in serving me, made you feel like you were intruding and interrupting their conversation. Ordered mixed doner meat and chips and two pieces of chicken and chips, ended up making 1 chicken and chips x 2, again it felt like the woman who served me was not really listening. My partner said his doner meat was extremely dry and I was also given what I can only described as a whole rotisserie chicken, not your standard southern fried chicken you get when you go to a chippy🤣 the chips were edible but to then to top it all off ended up eating a black hair which put me off all together. Overall please avoid this place, there are so many other chip shops in the area that offer excellent service and food, however this isn’t one of them.

40 mins for 2 donar meat n chips & 2 sausages, doner meat burnt & charred, slow service to bothered with uber eats orders, really gone to pot, wont be going back

Sorry guys,waited 40 minutes for chared kebab meat and chips.On the plus side the dog enjoyed it.

Nice Chips and friendly service. Also offers lovely tikka meat, cheesy chips + sausages, pies, etc They have recently stopped selling large portions of chips which is a pity.

Seems to have given up...😔 Needs a bit of an overhaul

Usually I love the smell of a chippy when your in the mood, the aroma of vinegar over the heat of cooking food. However this place smells bad. The staff seam disinterested in serving you and do so with a scowl over their faces. If it wasn't one of the few places open that day that sold fish and chips I wouldn't have bothered and it's unlikely I ever will again.

I was trying to work out where to drop in for a takeaway tonight and i new that the chipy in Wlencote was great and I wasn't disappointed the staff was every helpfull and what I ordered was lovel. A simply thank you to all of them. Yum.

Seriously rubbish food like it was sat under the heat light all day never will go here again and to top it off been charged £2.60 for a cone of chips staff are miserable

Very disappointed with the food, donner kebab looks like dry straps on both orders.

Food is okay. Staff are rude and everything is too much for them! The owners family member needs to work on his customer service and avoid rolling his eyes at customers when they make a simple request. Realised items were missing from our order once we had arrived home. This chip shop is local to us and after having a few bad experiences, we've decided that we'll travel further in future.

Lovely food never had a problem here, chips always Lovely and hot kebab is nice, fish is great portions are always a good size, staff are good too nice to see smiles when walking in.

Absolutely awful service, spent over £35 to then only receive chicken nuggets and chips. Called the shop to be told there is nothing they can do! Plus the nuggets that were received I wouldn’t even feed to my dog

Extremely disappointed with mixed kebab meat and chips. Lamb was dry, hard and crispy. Chicken is cheap & processed which tastes quite bad. On a brighter note the Chips were fine. There are much better chip shops in Tamworth. I won’t be using these again.

Very nice fish and chips. But if a pain to get to in the car but I enjoyed the take away.

Lived up wilnecote about 3 years ago and iv definitely missed this chippy absolutely bang on tonight

Ignorant ignorant ignorant. Wouldn’t give them the pleasure of my money ever again. Get to the shop 5 mins before it opens (says in the door 1630) wait outside patiently whilst the lady is playing on her phone behind the counter… time hits 1640 she walks over with a grin on her face to the can machine by the door doesn’t even acknowledge I’m there (even though she knows I’m there) gets herself a drink and walks back behind the fryer and starts unloading the fish…. Didn’t even have the courtesy to say sorry we are opening later or acknowledge that I’m waiting to give them money. Lost a customer tonight will never ever frequent that fish bar again.

It has been a few years since I was in Tamworth but I am pleased to report Wilnecote Fish Bar is as good as it ever was. The haddock was of generous proportion and well cooked. The staff were very friendly an helpful. Highly recommended

Not nice funny bitter taste lots of black chips don’t know What causes this I don’t know whether shops use yesterday’s potatoes or chips but all the bad chip shop seem to have lots of them. I’d say about 25% were edible

It was alright very busy waiting a while for my little order but in the end worth the wait

Working local to here for few months so naturally tried, been 3 times to give a fair result and that was 3 times too many, very expensive food that is average at best, tried the donner, chicken , fish, sausages, all pretty tasteless, I'm from bham central where there is many great places so maybe I expected too much? Either way will not return. I very rarely write reviews as I like to think people can choose themself, but the price for items doesn't live up.

Greasy chips that turned into a mush. Pie burned underneath. Fish wasn't too bad, so a star for that. Personally, I don't think there's much care about food or customer service. I won't use it again

It is good with covid on and queuing system well organized. Fish good size bit greasy .,good portions of chips. But wrapped up but too tightly so everything is sticking to the paper . It's the person who wraps them my friend said this person was the same at the other takeaway he worked.. however good chips and portion sizes are good. Happy to get served on a Good Friday ☺️

The chips were almost white, if the fish was cod I would eat my hat,the peas tasted like cigarettes.they were awful. My sister had chips and kebab meat, again chips not properly cooked, although the the kebab meat was ok,it was smothered in chilli sauce, and I mean smothered. I am more annoyed we had to pay for this rubbish, the majority went in the bin

Regular chips was size of most others large the curry was lovely chips cooked just perfect and inexpensive too.

Dropped in for a kebab on way home as we really fancied one. I had a mixed, she had a donar. Hideous. Donar meat an inch thick, chicken meat blackened and burnt on the outside and horrible to eat. Salad and garlic mayonnaise was well up to standard though! Girl couldn't remember the order, one mixed kebab one donar kebab both with garlic mayo not difficult to remember! Hope their fish and chip skills are better than there kebab skills or god help you. Served about 8 oclock on 17/06/2017

Really good food served well and friendly staff

If this place is good enough for Peter Kay, then it's good enough for me. Peter popped in on the way back from a show and the newspaper article relating the story is on show at the shop. Reasonably priced good food, served by friendly staff in a clean environment. Parking either involves using a lay by outside, or a drive round onto the estate.

Good Fish & Chips, Reasonable prices and there are some great special offers for lunch time and in the evening. Mini Special is my favorite. Parking is a little tight and best to use lay by on the old A5 (Watling Street) . Staff are good and polite and helpful.
