The best afternoon tea for Mother’s Day. Delicious scones and sandwiches just right size. The most amazing strawberry tart and even shortbread to go with the tea. A top trip

Booked afternoon tea for my wife's birthday. The rooms are on the first and second floors and access from the street is up a narrow staircase. very stylish and neat trhough. The food was excellent although you get one large cake rather than some small ones but you can choose from a good selection. We had the meringues which are spectacular. The sandwiches were fine as were the scones and shortbread, there is no sausage rolls though and the jam was a bit runny if you want to be very critical. The room was full and the afternoon tea was very popular and everybody seemed happy. There second room above the one we were in had room though. Due to the age of the building there is no where for a lift, so people with mobility problems might have a problem.

I love afternoon tea, but I live in a city that doesn’t appreciate it as much as I do. When my dad and I visited Scotland for the first time in September, I knew I wanted to have afternoon tea at least once, which is why after much research I chose the Willow Tea Rooms. Unfortunately, I think I had an expectation that was a wee bit too high. The food was really good, but I didn’t like not choosing my own tea. Also, the server was really sweet, but she seemed extremely rushed. Perhaps they were short-staffed, I’m not sure. It was still really nice though and very reasonably priced (since only a couple of high-end restaurants here in Nashville, it’s over $200 with tip - at the Hermitage Hotel).

Disappointing experience. We were seated in an area too small to accommodate us with staff and customers pushing past. The scone had a hard unidentifiable bit in it, the amount of jam and cream was very stingy, we stood to pay for a long time then went downstairs to pay our bill. The toilets weren’t checked and restocked. All in all I wouldn’t recommend and we won’t ever go again.

Visited today with friends for afternoon tea. So glad we had booked in advance as was very busy. Having said that, service was excellent. Nothing too much trouble from lovely serving staff. Food was really nice. We opted for traditional afternoon tea with Prosecco. Disappointed to be charged £10 for the prosecco but it was a special occasion so will let it go. Take note that service charge is included on the bill. Beautiful setting but it's the staff who make it special. Well done Willow Tearooms Glasgow.

We had the Classic Afternoon Tea - filling, varied and exactly as promised including the huge meringue with strawberry, and some lovely teas. Of course it was the Charles Rennie Mackintosh experience/decor/furniture we were after so it was a reasonably priced and all in all a nice afternoon. Visited the gift shop and had a splurge - reasonable quality and well priced souvenirs, spent well so a little miffed to be charged for a bag. We finished the day by visiting the Mackintosh House at the Hunterian Museum and their gift shop not nearly as well stocked.

Very disappointed and confused as to when this tea room is actually open until. It seems to be whatever mood they’re in. When you Google it says they close at 5:30 on a Thursday and on trip advisor, open until 6:30 on Thursdays. I was with 1 friend and along with 6 other possible customers we proceeded up the stairs at 5:05 to be told they were closing early today? Was it just that day or in general when open until 5:30 they close at 5:05? We said we only wanted a cup of tea no food and would be done by 5:30 but not interested. If you go into a shop or supermarket that closes at 5:30 they are open to 5:30 not 5:05 very unusual managing of a business.

Really disappointed in our recent visit yesterday. Ordered ciabattas and the side salad was completely swimming in a salad dressing which tasted very odd. so much so that it saturated completely through the ciabatta (this dressing was not mentioned on the menu so no idea what it was) . I would have told them the issue if staff had even bothered to ask us how our food was ….it was far too busy and not enough staff to cope. This is actually detrimental as people are now having a poor experience. After I paid the bill (a very rushed process) I realised they had added a service charge on, if I had noticed that I would have asked for it to be removed. All in all a very rushed, haphazard lunch with the food seemingly just dumped on the plate. Def not worth the price. I’ve visited before and always had a great time but yesterday was a let down, there are much nicer and more professional places to eat in town now but this one is getting very reliant on tourists……come on Willow get back to the good service and more detailed menus

I can honestly say that if you have any dietary issues they are dealt with discretely and without fuss. Having told the staff I was gluten free they promptly brought me a gluten free menu and although there wasn’t a cooked breakfast option there was a fairly decent choice. My sister who was with me though was opting for the cooked breakfast and I asked if I could order one also but without the bread sausage and black pudding and potato cake….They said that was perfectly fine and the chef would double up on items that I could have and they had gluten free bread…perfect!….when my breakfast arrived it was huge and there was no disappointment whatsoever everything is fresh very hot and good quality…Thank you The Willow Tea Rooms for making what is normally quite stressful experience into a very lovely experience!!

We were so looking forward to our gift of afternoon tea. When I phoned to book, I was asked about any dietary requirements…I said one of us didn’t take butter, fish or cream cheese (these were foods listed on the sandwich menu). I was assured by the gentleman on the phone that was perfectly fine and I would be given sandwiches without any butter, fish or cream cheese, and to mention it to our server. On arriving and mentioning what I’d been told on the phone, I asked for the ham and mustard with no butter, the cucumber with no cream cheese but was told I couldn’t have that, only the egg mayonnaise. I was finally served with 4 egg mayonnaise sandwiches. The only other option was avocado and tomato, but not tomato on its own. While the setting was pleasant enough, I was so disappointed at the refusal to make my sandwiches without butter/fish/cream cheese. What’s the point of asking for any dietary requirements in the first place? Suffice to say I won’t be using my other gift voucher.

Visited for the second time on mothers day weekend. Understandably the restaurant was busy due to it being a Saturday afternoon, however the service was terrible. We were seated downstairs and given a menu, but no one explained about what was included etc, luckily I had been previously so could explain to the group. When our order arrived, it was totally wrong, I’m not sure if this was an issue with the kitchen or our server. We also were served the wrong tea and had to ask multiple times for the soft drink we ordered. The sandwiches were changed but then came as big triangles with crust, not like the other finger sandwiches you’d expect at an afternoon tea and still not correct but we just ate them as it we had already waited long enough. There was also an individual working in the restaurant who had a strong odor about them. This was particularly unpleasant as the person would be brushing past the table. Surely staff dealing with food and the public should have basic personal hygiene . We spoke to the manager and explained the issues and asked to be moved. The manager spoke to us as if we were children, very condescending and patronising. Extremely unprofessional, and I would also like to mentioned we heard the staff discussing another table who were complaining about the service. Not very professional to be discussing customers in front of other customers. We didn’t realised we had been moved closer to this individual who smelled unpleasant, but by this time we had really just had enough so tried to ignore the situation. Overall the food itself was ok but the service was so disappointing and I wouldn’t recommend or be back. The toilets are also cold, damp and not very clean.

The surroundings are amazing and the food and drink also. Sadly the service is slow and chaotic. My cake as others took 10 minutes - long after our drinks. My cake was then strangely not served as the server said it was not right - then I waited a further 20 minutes. None of this with any explanation until it finally turned up. I was past the point but was not allowed to reject. It was either eat it or have a takeaway. Check how long your cakes will take or don’t bother.

A must for any visitor to Glasgow who loves the creations of Charles Rennie Mackintosh . The decor and furniture are pure CRM and afternoon tea offers scones , rather small cakes (!) and whisky infused tea , and other goodies in which we didn’t indulge . You can have other food depending on the time of day , and if you have time you can visit the on site exhibition which chronicles the involvement of CRM with the owner of several cafes who used him as designer and architect . The Willow Cafe is the only one that still exists .

What a lovely tranquil find on a busy Glasgow street. We originally thought we had arrived too late for breakfast at 11.30 but were subsequently seated and served by a lovely Scottish lady (older, short hair, glasses, didn’t get her name unfortunately) who was chatty, funny and really helpful. All 3 of us had lovely food - full Scottish breakfast, vegetarian breakfast and avocado & eggs on toast- and really enjoyed the atmosphere as much as the food. There were lots of groups, families with young children, couples, friends, it seems a place that caters for, and suits, everybody. Plenty of young waiters & waitresses, really polite and helpful, mean you aren’t waiting too long at all when you need something. Can’t remember what the total bill was but it certainly wasn’t expensive. To top it off, I went back in to buy some gifts for my family and the same lady that had seated us spoke to me about where we going after, and gave me lots of really useful tips for travelling, where to go, best type of tube ticket to buy, how to find certain interesting places we wanted to visit, all sorts of local knowledge that made the rest of our day a real pleasure. I would definitely recommend The Willow Tea Rooms and will go back if I’m ever in Glasgow again.

Low-quality, stale pastries and sandwiches, and rushed service. We booked the last time slot for afternoon tea, and it seems this was just at closing time, so they were clearing the room all around us and making a lot of noise. Our tablecloth was dirty...

We absolutely loved our breakfast in gorgeous Renee Mackintosh style. Excellent scrambled eggs and Scottish smoked salmon, wonderful speedy and friendly service at good prices. Thank you so much, highly recommended.

Interesting interior design but the food was just ok and the service was a bit pushy. My husband ordered a club sandwich and the chicken was old and dry. My savory tea service was fine, but nothing fabulous. One item was burnt. The staff was...

We decided to come here after an afternoon walking tour, so popped in just before to book a table - 2 hours’ notice in July was no problem! The room is attractively decorated in a simple Mackintosh style, echoing but (sadly) not emulating the original...

We had a lovely time at the Willow tea rooms for afternoon tea. We mixed and matched with both the savoury and sweet tea options instead of an evening meal. The staff and service was excellent, thank you.

We had the impression that we were being rushed from our seat. Asked more than 5 times would we like something else. Also, when I booked, it didn’t make clear that this was on Buchanan St. I was under the impression that it was in...

Walked down alot of steps to the toilet only to find a combination on it. Zero signs to tell you this as you are walking there. Had to walk all the way back to queue to ask for the number. Very simple to sort and do better for your customers.

I ordered a cake for the next day thinking that they would make it fresh but the quality of the base is very bad it is very hard like a rock. The upper layer specially is rock solid and the cake itself is very sweet but tasteless. Never again very disappointed paid £35 for this rubbish.
