Willie Wastle's in South Ayrshire

Arrived around 2.45 shown to table ordered food and drinks drinks arrived cutlery arrived food was a no show after an hour we asked what was happening .To be told a large booking had arrived half hour late and it had thrown everything back. By 30 mins . Well no sorry if a booking is late thats their problem not customer that are left waiting with no communication . Daughter was going to work so we couldn't wait any longer 2 Yr old was really upset about not getting her treat with family only to be told you wouldn't charge for 3 juices a fruit shoot and a pint of lager.the only one that had drank was the 2 Yr old the rest of drinks were left as we ordered to go along with the missing food . My daughter myself and my husband have all worked in hospitality industry daughter is actually a chef for a large brewery chain .if a booking is late then you don't pander to them they should be told as your late you have other customers waiting .not amused and definitely won't return

So, we ordered the mississippi chicken which was really good. The chicken was cooked perfectly, seasoning was just right, couldn't fault it. We also ordered a steak pie with mash potato and a side of baby potatoes. The steak in the pie was cooked fine however, the pastry was undercooked and the baby potatoes had been reheated in the microwave. Once we had asked for the bill we mentioned about the baby potatoes being reheats, the manageress then came out and stated yes they were in fact reheats and made no apology whatsoever for giving us reheated microwaved baby potatoes . The manageress was in fact quite rude and obnoxious and stated that everywhere she knew of sold reheated potatoes. Staff were friendly but really disgusted with the manageress and her attitude. Would not recommend 👎👎

Found this great place by pure chance , so pleased we did . Had lunch there chose the small plates which was sufficient. Lovely spacious clean restaurant. Staff very attentive with good service . Reasonably priced . Enjoyed it that much we returned the following day again for lunch. Well worth a visit .

A group of friends and I attended the Ayr Gold Cup festival for 4 days and had our evening meal at Willie Wastle,s, also a few drinks during the day. A big shout to the staff and management, they were efficient, friendly and attentive. the food was excellent and good value. that`s why we return year after year.

Visited 25th Sept for Breakfast. Whilst cooked very nicely and coffee was good. Unfortunately they didn’t serve the breakfast with mushrooms as on the menu. Mentioned to person when paying and got the obligatory sorry remark but no offer of recompense. Would have mentioned to server whilst eating but no one came to check that all was ok.

I used to come here regularly before lockdown and have only relatively recently started coming back for drinks. Wifey and me came in this week and after a few drinks we decided to stay for food. My burger was delicious and tasty and wifeys fajitas looked and smelled great and i'll definitely be having that next time. (She confirmed they were excellent). Prices are great and it's a good place to watch the world go by outside or catch various sports on the many screens. Well done.

Nipped in for a quick breakfast roll when passing by Server Mhairi super cheerful and chatty and constantly running about. Nice wee place.

We have had dinner in Willie Wastles a few times and we have never been disappointed.The service is very good and the staff are very pleasant but the best of all is the food.Try the Haggis Neeps and Tatties starter is great.I havnt mentioned the prices yet =very reasonable and if you have a loyalty card you get a reduced bill.what more could you ask for-Good food nice Staff at a good price.

This was our second visit in a two week period .After the first visit for drinks ,really enjoyed it and applied for a loyalty card .decided to go in on Sunday for drinks and dinner ,staff were brilliant ,prices even better ,food great .Nice comfy chairs and great place for watching sports .what was a nice change was that there was only one dog in the place .

We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals and the prices were reasonable for both food and drink. Our young waitress was lovely and looked after us well. Look forward to returning. Thanks. 😁

We are locals and had been going elsewhere with our dog, so thought this would be a nice change. It wasn’t. Our server was dour and surly, to the point we felt like an inconvenience. I’m not exaggerating when I say she didn’t crack a smile once and our food was plonked in front of us with a face that would have turned milk. The food itself was nice and it’s a menu with something for everyone, but when the server makes you feel that you’re annoying her just by being there, it overshadows the whole experience. I can see why other reviewers have commented negatively. It’s a real pity because we’ve usually had fantastic experiences with the staff everywhere else we’ve been in Ayr. She lets the place down and we sadly won’t be back.

Had a couple of drinks here before going for a meal, service was good but just another "wetherspoon" to me. Preferred it when it was the "old" Willie Wastle's, more atmosphere then.

First full day of holiday. We were looking for a good value lunch for our hungry 4 year old. The menu is varied with your typical staples. We received a warm, friendly welcome when we arrived and were shown to the table. The atmosphere was nice. You could tell our server didn't want to be there, even though she chose to wear a face covering, you can hear a smile so try smiling. Food was nice for what it was, won't win awards but good value.

Down in Ayr for the day and went with young family, 5 children and 3 adults. plenty of room for the young ones and the service was good. worked out great for the kids rather than a more regimental restaurant type of place. food is...

We had a huge scottish breakfast All freshly cooked and very tasty. Our waiter was called Bradley who was extremely friendly and professional. We also met the lady chef and was able to pass on our compliments. They also made a fuss of our dog and spoiled him with treats. We would definitely return for breakfast again if in Ayre and recommend this pub for breakfast. We almost forgot to pay as we were so busy complimenting the staff but they were so polite in reminding us as we were leaving,

Myself, partner and 2 young kids came here yesterday to watch the West Ham football game! The service we received from start to finish was outstanding. The staff looked after us very well and helped us move table to see full view of the game....

Eat here often. Usually get a good meal here for the price. All buy 1 get 1 free so a whole family of 7 got fed for around £60 with 2 people having a dessert the rest was mains and soft drinks. Great value.

This place has went way downhill. I was in 2 weeks ago we ordered our drinks and food at the same time. The drinks were poured then left sitting on the bar for at least 15 minutes. I don’t know how long they. stayed there...

This restaurant was about 10 minutes walk from our apartment. We ate early and had excellent food every time. Buy one get one free was a great saving too. Staff lovely and service quick.

Good food although we waited 40 mins for our main with no apologies from the waitress and this was the case with everyone, not overly busy either to be waiting for so long.Been a few times and didn’t have this problem hopefully it will be a one off or I’m afraid we won’t be returning.On a plus side it was buy 1 get one free

My husband had a pint of soda and lime here as was being healthy and was shocked at the price which was £3.20. In this day and age of health encouragement it’s disappointing that an alcoholic drink is cheaper than essentially a very cheap mixer. Poor

Someone recommended this to us. So pleased we stopped in as it was lovely. I had the salmon and bill had the fajitas. The young lad recommend a nice Malbec which was very reasonable and good. Staff couldn’t do enough for you. Then to cap it all it was buy one meal get the other free. Result.

Had dinner here with family, service very good, food delicious, meals are buy one get on free, on all courses. Would definitly recommend.

Went as a family of 4. The staff where lovely and saw to us promptly. We Got carbonara which was absolutely disgusting and Stoves which where bland so wouldn't recommend these. The burrito was OK and a pizza that was nice. Desert was OK as well. With buy one get one free its a cheap meal with cheap food/ingredients. Wouldn't go back

shocking service, waited over an hour for main meals After asking got them within minutes 5 meals came out one meal hadn’t been ordered. Waitress very apologetic and gave us a round of drinks on the house. After main meals made the mistake of ordering 4 desserts again after 40 mins had to ask about them. When speaking to the owner we just got rudeness and bad excuses actually shouted at us and walked away not the way anyone should act let alone an owner of a business!!!! Maybe owner should take a leaf out of waitresses book Never came across a manager acting in that manner to a complaint before whatever is going on in their life !!!!

Visited with family, arrived at 7.05pm. Had to call waitress over at half past, to ask if we could order. Ordered food and drinks. At 8.25 again had to call waitress over and ask if our food would be much longer. She went to check and came back to inform is that the kitchen did not have our order and it would be another 15-20 mins. We then has to ask again 25 mins later, and finally we got our meals. Only paid half of the bill as 3 people in our group couldn't eat what they were given. Won't be back.

£20 for a standard size bottle of prosecco and 4 x 35 ml gins (choose from 20 kinds) what’s not to like about that? We chose bramble, rhubarb and ginger, rose and pomegranate and Brooklyn gin. What a bargain right?

Went in for my dinner with 2 friends and waited half an hour for our mains and even at that the chicken tempura was under cooked with no colour near it and then another 40 minutes later for dessert, was a good meal other than that.

Had heard this was a great place. But other than the friendly waitress, the meal could have been a microwave meal. Will never visit again.

Found this place after another restaurant didn't want to serve us. Everything absolutely excellent. Bottle of wine very reasonably priced and the meals were excellent. Great beefburger with all the trimmings and a fantastic steak pie. All meals are two for one which represents great value. Very friendly serving staff and very good customer attitude. Great free wifi. Would definitely come here again without hesitation if in Ayr and can recommend

Ordered Chicken Tempura for Main, which I got two of (due to the BOGOF deal on mains, which was great) the food was good/average, but not how I like it cooked.

Went to this restaurant after attending Scottish grand national with five friends. It was early evening and was approx quarter full. Staff friendly and helpful.

Went in there with the kids as this place was recommended by a local. Food took a while to be served and at one point I went to use the bathroom which took me past the kitchens and I heard many obscenities as I walked by. A lovely couple at the table next to us warned us that the food was awful as they could not even finish the food and they had ordered and even gave a complaint. But being as I never usually go by other people’s opinions, we stayed and received our food. I had the hunters chicken with coleslaw and fries, my daughter had the bacon steak with coleslaw chips, fried egg and peas.

We called in unexpected and managed to get a table, Mother's Day and all that, most tables were reserved, I thought, must be good.

Looks a bit like a penny arcade from the exterior however inside it is spacious, popular and with a lively atmosphere. You are supposed to wait to be seated. Staff were efficient and attentive. The typical pub grub menu. Food arrived quite quickly and was very tasty and hot. Good prices. The partner pub is a short disance up the street.

Went for breakfast and it was excellent value. Nothing not too much bother. Would recommend to anyone.

Came here around 6 30 for our booked table ,looked great quiet but looked ok went in table right next to doors where the smokers went but no one in so it wasn t a issue , ordered drinks came pretty prompt then ordered food statrters for 9 and mains pretty plane fayre nothing great 5 came all at same time and the last two soups arrived after most of us had finished bit of a dissapointment its no rocket science 8 starters including soups get em all out together then the mains came i had chicken tempura with absolutley no presentation chips and long tempuras piled on top on a smallish plate with un dressed salad , the fajitas looked impressive i even joked about changing my order all other meals came down except 2 the pizza and a hunters chicken after about ten mins i thought id ask to the surprised look on the waitress face she went in to the kitchen then came back out and appologised apprently the full order had nt been put through and they didnt know about the meals disaster time they came we had all finished the pizza was nice although the hunters chicken ws dry and barely ediable to the extent we left it and commented on how bad it was ......... the bill £112 nothing off for inconvience and the fact it spoilled our whole night AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAUGE and hey managment if you read this feel free to get in touch ill send you my no

Used to love this place, wouldn’t go anywhere else for a meal. Sorry but the menu was a let down this eve as was the meal. Need to find somewhere else now for a meal🙄 very disappointed

Went here with my sister for lunch. We both ordered the beef burger, got told by the waitress that they had changed their menu. The beef burger now came with red onion and gherkins. The waitress told us that the staff had sampled their new menu and they all said that it was good. When we got our burger, chips and coleslaw, the burger was warm but chips were cold and the coleslaw isn't as good as it used to be either. The place wasn't busy, been here before and had the burger, chips and coleslaw which we enjoyed but not this time. Will not be back.

Visited on a Tuesday night and very quiet so no need to book.This was our second visit. Excellent value for money. Two meals for one! Had the haggis starters, chicken goujons for mains plus a steak pie and beautifully presented desserts. Our waitress was a lovely young woman, sorry forgot to ask her name ( she wore glasses). Attentive without being intrusive. Friendly and very capable. Will definitely be back for another visit.

Ate here twice last week. The food is nice,the service really great and you cant argue with the price. It is buy one get one free,but as 3 of us were eating we were given a discount on the third dish, so 2 lots of Hunters chicken( that according our very fussy teen was the best meal he has ever eaten), a chicken fajita and 3 glasses of soft drink wcame to £23, what a bargain

Lovely service and a warm welcoming restaurant. The food was lovely and great priced. The restaurant was spotless and the toilets were clean.

We found this place by accident but I would definitely go back. Our starters took a bit of time to arrive which was met with an apology. It was only 2 pate but it took about 25 mins. We didn't mind as we were not in a hurry but I could see some people being put out by this. Our mains, Tempura chicken and fajitas were lovely. An ample portion of each that we would heave finished if we hadn't had the starter. Certainly no room for dessert. We found the food to be good and our bill for the aforementioned food, a beer and 2 Irn Bru was less than £25.

Server was so lovely (sorry I didn’t get a name! Girl with dark hair in a bun, braces). Tempura chicken was so good! Plum and vanilla gin was fabulous too. Meals and drink came quickly

Visited this place before & found it quite good value , however portion size & quality of god has fallen I’m my opinion , buy one get one yes but c’mon the food is overpriced to start with. Sucker punch was having to pay £3 for a pint of draught Diet Coke , Blimey pint of lager was £2.60 nice touch to deter customers from drinking & driving. Staff were very friendly and helpful though

What a fantastic breakfast we had here with the family. Only £2.95 for a full breakfast! Fantastic value and the coffee was good too. The kids had lovely babyccinos.

Went here for the first time since the establishment moved from the back of the pub into the other venue, with my dad, five year old daughter and one year old twin sons. The waitress was amazing and possibly the best I've seen, the way she rattled off our order back to us perfectly in an instant was very impressive. The food was lovely and served promptly. Overall lovely meal and service. Haven't been impressed by earlier visits to Willie Wastles but this restores my faith

My wife and I visited this restaurant on Sunday evening. The service was very good,quick and efficient. The waitress was very pleasant and nothing was too much trouble for her. I had Gammon and my wife Fish. The portion size was more than adequate and the food was cooked fresh. We had desserts and they too were very nice indeed.I can thoroughly recommend this eaterie and frankly am somewhat puzzled ay\t other disparaging views.The 2 for 1 option is good value despite comments to the contrary .

Went for a Birthday lunch with my wife this afternoon. Restaurant is very nice, atmosphere, at lunch time anyway, is relaxed and not too noisy. Staff are lovely, nothing any trouble and served very quickly. Food was pretty good, battered haddock was anyway, portions decent, especially as you’re getting two meals for the price of one. Will definitely return.

Ate here twice while on holiday near by. First visit food was okay, service poor but thought it maybe as it was busy. Went again a few days later... same but worse and it was quieter this time around!!! The service is sooooo slow!!! You wait for your drinks order and when it eventually comes they don’t take your food order so waiting again! Second visit we wanted dessert but ended up leaving as no one came any where near to clear the table from our mains. I went to the bar paid and left. It’s a shame as it is a nice environment, food is okay... don’t be fooled by the buy one get one free as the prices are inflated to off set this 11.99 every main! And we didn’t receive a reduction for odd numbers dining even though the menu states this... sadly wouldn’t go back if in Ayr

Good value for good food.All mains are two for the price of one. Food was really tasty and drinks prices were ok. We enjoyed our meal and if we go to Ayr again we would certainly eat here.

We have been going to this restaurant for a few years now. Started when it was the back of the pub. Now new location just down the road. Menu not extensive but food is good and at two for the price of one makes it even better.

Went here yesterday for a 21st meal with 15 people. They didn't have soem of the food that was requested. The waiter that served us was ignorant and not helpful. Was told that we couldn't get the chicken tempura without chips (we wanted salad). The tempura was rotten, I have never seen as much food go to waste. Will never be back.

Very disappointed on level of service today we entertered establishment at 5.30 placed our order of chicken tempura starter for grandson and main meals for 3 and kids meal which we all got together after waiting 28 mins I went to bar to order drinks and ask if we could get the main meal of plain double cheeseburger the lassie behind the bar needs a lesson on customer service she spoke to meme as if I was a child told to get back to table and waiter will come with it waited another 20 mins and had to ask a waitress if she would see to order waited another 15 minutes for bacon double cheeseburger which came with warm coleslaw and minus bacon which she took back to kitchen came back with bacon that had been pinged in microwave once again had to ask for the drinks that was ordered which came minus the vodka their excuse for bad service was they hadn’t expected it to be so busy which I could understand if they were but on my count 11 tables and a group celebrating a 21st were in

Disappointed with my meal, mushroom stroganoff. The rice looked like it was a boil in the bag & undercooked. The garlic bread needed longer, it was soggy. Others in my party said the chicken was tasteless & food not hot enough. The salad looked really tasty.Our desert was ok.
