We had no booking but were made welcome for an early lunch of soup. Crab soup tasted nice but had shell in it. The bread was supposed to be sourdough but was an unusual white bread with caraway seed in it. This is an acquired tasted which I haven't acquired so the waitrose exchanged it for some French bread. I was surprised to be charged £4.50 extra for this. I had not been told I would be charged and was lead to believe it was a straight exchange. The lady at the till was not to be budged so I paid, but it left, together with the 'sourdough', a rather bitter taste. A shame as I had heard good things but came away underwhelmed and vaguely annoyed. But a nice setting etc.

wow what excellent service and a great meal. My wife and I were visiting the Cotswolds for our anniversary and had prebooked Williams for our first night. The great service started with the booking, I called before they opened and when realising this I ended the call when it wasn't answered after 5 rings. Within a minute I received a call back even though I hadn't left a message. During the pleasant conversation regarding our booking I must have mentioned our anniversary as having sat down and started reviewing the menu we were given a class of champagne on the house to celebrate. The staff were very knowledgeable and helpful regarding the menu to assist our selection. The food was as good as the service and all beautifully presented. We thank one and all of the staff at Williams for helping to make this occasion truly memorable Our kindest regards and best wishes for your continued success

It’s always a treat to go to eat at Williams. As fish lovers there is always a huge problem, “what to choose”!! This time we plumped for scallops followed by halibut. It was all cooked superbly and the staff were great.

For my wife’s 70th birthday lunch we chose William’s as we often do for family celebrations. We arrived by cab as we both wanted to enjoy a glass or two. Our table was ready and we ordered a bottle of champagne to enjoy throughout the meal. I enjoyed 6 Colchester oysters to start. They were cleanly presented if a little small but that may be a feature of Essex molluscs. My wife’s crab soup she pronounced spicy and delicious. My main was roasted turbot on the bone. Accurately cooked with a generous serving of baby potatoes and samphire. I could have done with more of the interesting jus. My wife’s main course was a fish stew of salmon, hake, cod, chorizo & mussels. Well cooked and nicely spiced. We even managed a third course - I having cheese (with a generous glass of port) and my wife choosing sticky toffee pudding - light and sweet. The service throughout was friendly and professional. As usual we were delighted by our celebratory visit.

Myself and my partner visited Williams recently during our weekend away. We are not from the area therefore relied on reviews and recommendations, from this we were excited to eat here. Sadly we were hugely disappointed. From the moment we entered the restaurant we felt we were treated differently to others. We had to ask to be served, food had to be sent back, dietary requirements were neglected and stereotypical comments were made for paying in cash. Overall we felt hugely miss treated. The service was terrible, the food was below parr and the staff were pretentious to say the least. There are plenty of other restaurants in the area which are much more welcoming, the quality of food is better and price is more reasonable for the overall experience. Safe to say we do not recommend.

A nice restaurant and deli in Nailsworth serving mainly but not exclusively fish dishes. On this occasion we decided to have an outside table for lunch, which was lovely. Service was friendly, attentive and prompt. All three diners opted for the fish and chips; beer battered haddock, French fries, homemade tartar sauce and salad. Really good portions and beautiful fish. There were vegetarian and gluten free dishes on offer. We skipped starters and sweets but there were some tempting options. A great restaurant for lunch or dinner.

Beautiful ambient restaurant. Friendly, attentive service that was professional but down to Earth. The menu was utterly delicious - whilst a seafood restaurant there was a couple of non seafood options. Had the peri peri king prawns to start which were just divine then the half lobster that was again, superb. Even the side salad was delicious! The wine was really excellent (coquille de mer I believe it was called). Such a great evening and would not hesitate to recommend or return.

In most of England, lovers of fresh seafood have a poor deal. Living in the Cotswolds, this is the only seafood restaurant I have come across in 36 years. I ate here -- open air on a sunny day -- with a granddaughter for her birthday. We both were thoroughly and completely satisfied by the friendly service, the menu choices, and the freshness of the fish and crustaceans that we ordered. Prices, for this quality of food, were entirely reasonable. And a restaurant that serves real, fresh crabs!

We were booked for our evening meal here on the 29th of May. The service was attentive from the word go. Monica and her team could teach the bigger restaurants a thing or two about service! The food was spot on too. I had spicy crab soup and my husband had a crab ceviche like started and both were delish. The highlight was of course the lobster we had for our main course. Loved the Bulgur salad it came with! They also do fresh orange juice which is refreshing and unique for this part of the world. Can’t recommend this place enough. We’ll definitely be back! ❤️

At last we were able to return for lunch at Williams! Oh how we had missed the excellent food and service that is on offer. Of course we were obliged to have a table outside, which can be a bit blighted by the constant traffic noise. On the other hand that is a small price to pay! The lunch for six, on a birthday, was enjoyed by all, choosing from a surprisingly extensive menu. Between us we sampled, crab soup, fish soup, scallops, ham hock terrine, John Dory, fillet steak and fish and chips: the plates were washed down with an Albarino and house red wine, at sensible prices, and £40 per head seemed reasonable given the quality of food and service: working outside puts extra pressure on staff, who were friendly, timely, and attentive.Blankets are available for when there is a chill in the air, and I am sure everyone is looking forward to the return to being inside from May17 2021

This is one of our favourite restaurants. We only get ti visit when we manage to get tickets to the local football team, but as a pre match meal it is probably a bit above the normal pie and chips!Excellent service always. A great menu selection, although we always seem to go for the scallops as starter, and are tempted to have them for main too, they are that good.If you find a piece of fish in the attached fishmonger section, that is not on the menu, they will happily cook it for you.The fish and chips is so light and flaky. Excellent light batter. Sometimes we switch the fries for mash, they are very accommodating.Great choice of wines too. Not overly expensive, and well worth the money.

Nailsworth is lucky to have this gem of a place! My daughter and I were walk-ins on a Saturday for a quick lunch. The staff were very accommodating and squeezed us in. I had the fish soup and my daughter had the moules. The soup was deeply flavoured with big chunks of fish lurking at the bottom. As for the moules, well I've eaten many mussels over the years but I think these ones were the best - meaty sizes and so tender. The liquor was seasoned perfectly - absolutely bang on. Can't wait to go back!

Discovering Williams was the best thing I have done for ages . To call it outstanding is an under statement . It is superb in every way. From the minute you walk in to the moment you reluctantly have to leave is divine . The warmest of welcomes , a table that takes into account mild concerns about this Corona thing and then a lunch that can only be described as ‘wow’ . A range of starters , all of which were the personification of the word ‘yummy’ . The Main Courses offer a range of sensational fish dishes that are impossible to beat . I won’t describe individual dishes as they are all brilliant This was our fifth visit to Williams and it gets better every time we come to Nailsworth . The four of us spoilt ourselves with two superb bottles of splendid White Burgundy . We left having enjoyed a wonderful lunch yet again . Great value . Kind and caring service . Great value ! Unbeatable . We will be back without any doubt!!!!

Espacio realmente agradable, contemporáneo, luminoso y aireado.Buenos protocolos Covid.

We had high hopes for the quality of food that would be on offer here at Williams Food Hall, however I have to say we were let down. The food was good, but at around £20 for a main course I would expect something outstanding. I think they are trying to be a 'high class' restaurant when really they are creating posh pub food. The spicy crab soup was thrown in a bowl with no effort at presentation. Charging £20 for crab which is accompanied by fries should be criminal. Having said this the monkfish was still very tasty. Unfortunately the service was also a let down, we had to ask for drinks and we were not offered any side plates to go with the bread, in fact we found ourselves having to flag down a member of staff whenever we wanted anything. Sad to say we will not be returning again in the near future.

We recently visited Williams Food Hall, early August, the food was really good if you like child portions and dont mind paying extortionate prices, £20 for a one giant prawn starter and a mini skate for main, I have never seen a smaller skate, even our local fish and chip serve larger. We booked an outside table which was covered in leaves when we arrived and which we cleaned ourselves, and the table service was horrendous, the grey haired lady leant across me to collect plates giving me several armpit moments and stacked plates directly in front of me, there was also no exterior lighting we had to use a torch to see the bill, there were eleven of us including three kids and our bill was £347 unbelievable.Anyway to summarise, very small portions, very very expensive, very poor table service and not very nice outside experience, give this place a miss.

A two week turn around closure seemed ambitious for the shop and restaurant, but it was achieved earlier this year, and the results are very favourable. The menu is largely as before, new staff are coureous and efficient, and the cooking of our dishes was excellent. We tried the plaice goujons, fish soup, crab croquettes as starters, then Sea Bass, Sole and Halibut as mains - all were fully appreciated.Since my last review there has been some re-furbishment of the bathrooms, but the difficulty of getting there remains a problem for those with mobility limitations, who are therfore unlikely to be able to manage a visit to this excellent restaurant.Careless service meant that we had to draw attention to the absence of wine on our bill - honesty being the best policy!

We went to Williams for an Anniversary lunch,27th Feb, as seafood lovers we were really looking forward to it. Such a shame that one member of staff took away all the pleasure from the good food. The older lady waiting table was to say the least Churlish , Brusque and abrupt. D'you want a drink, (no offer of a wine list) smoked salmon and soup starters having been served, had to ask for bread-- basket of sliced white , cold , limp baggette and rock hard butter was plonked on the table as she walked by. With the main course she placed a bowl on the table, just saying shells and walking away. Asked for the dessert menu-- this is the first sight of the wine list we had. WE WILL NOT RETURN

This excellent deli used to serve food at a few tables at the back. Now following refurbishment it is more of a restaurant with a deli. Sea food remains the speciality and we enjoyed a really delicious - and good value - dinner there with friends.

Having been coming to Williams regularly over the last five years I was very excited to see the newly refurbished Williams and it was better than I could have hoped. We had dinner last night, with friends and both the food and service really were excellent. The menu had something for everyone and the wine list was good. I thoroughly enjoyed crab and prawn spring rolls followed by the sea bass - both were absolutely delicious. We were a huge group and the service was efficient, knowledgeable and friendly. We will definitely be coming back.

I took two guests recently. Two of us had scallops which were fine (all three of them). The other two had the crayfish and salmon tartar. The menu made no mention of the mayonnaise which glued it all together and smothered any texture or taste of either ingredient. The halibut (x3) was overcooked. My plaice was ‘watery’ and its taste, too, lost out to some cheese potato concoction. Overall, it was no better than pub grub on a bad night – apart from the price that is. I last went a year ago and lunch was fine. It is on its way downhill so maybe not a bad thing they are closing for refurbishment. I will not go again.

As always the starters and mains were excellently cooked, presented and served: the dining experience however is not all that matters in creating an enjoyable evening.

The main course (fish) was great. However, the service was so awful/rude it was almost funny. I think it must have been someone’s off day, or off life. It didn’t ruin the food but I have to say I have never experienced such rude service - down to being served a very lemony lemon posset with berry sauce when I had ordered vanilla panna cotta. I questioned this and the waitress swore the lemon posset with berry sauce was vanilla panna cotta. Amazing! Lucky I like both, but panna cotta is my favourite...

My wife and I booked for lunch on my birthday (a Thursday). We were shown a table outside, as requested. First impressions were of a potentially very pleasant courtyard in urgent need of TLC, perhaps a good clean of the paving stones; replacing the dilapidated wooden planters; and some new flowers and shrubs would be a start. Our table cloth was grubby from the previous diners, but not so much as to be worth complaining about. My wife ordered a breaded fish goujons starter, and skate's wing main course - both delicious! I ordered prawns in tempura batter and a half lobster with hot garlic butter - and sent both back. The batter on the prawns was thick and heavy (not tempura) the prawns had shrunk to nothing. I suspected (and this was confirmed that these were bought in). The lobster (always a challenge to cook well) was so rubbery that I could barely get a knife through it. The message came back that the chef agreed. So to the positives, which have prompted me to give 4 stars, not 3 (though I think "good" should appear as an option between "average" and "very good"). Our waitress was absolutely charming, attentive, professional and apologetic, immediately offering alternatives and making a suitable adjustment to our bill. The simple grilled sole that replaced the lobster (I didn't have a substitute starter) was perfect and perfectly delicious. So I'm giving the kitchen the benefit of the doubt on the lobster, though not on the bought-in inferior "tempura" prawns. And my review is also influenced by the undeniably excellent fish, cheese, olive oil and other products on sale in the shop.

We were exploring the Cotswolds three months ago and discovered Williams purely by chance . It was sensational with a menu , the onus being on Fish dishes which left us speechless. The staff were fabulous , the Service exceptional and our Lunch quite superb . Determined to come back to Nailsworth we drove down for a blissful Cotswold weekend on our proviso that we just had to have Lunch again at Williams . Well we did and boy oh boy was it fabulous again . You can bet your bottom dollar it was !! The Menu left us speechless as we each would have liked three of their starters and all of the ‘Mains’. My Moules was divine and my Fish Casserole left me in awe !! My wife opted for an unbelievably beautifully presented Sole and we both greedily scoffed Sticky Toffee Pudding as the ultimate indulgence . A bottle of Pinot Grigio will be long remembered !!

A joy to be back after a few months. This is a knockout restaurant . You can’t book a table so best you and your party of friends get there by around 12 noon. Once you have settled down the real excitement begins . The Menu is imaginative , alluring and all the dishes are incredibly tempting . Their fish dishes , so varied are all wonderful and be it Plaice, Dover Sole, Monkfish, Mussels, Sea Bass each was sensational in every way. We all wanted to applaud the Chef for his creativity and culinary brilliance !! It’s very satisfying when your four friends all rave about their food and make it very clear that they will all want to come back .I opted to be naughty by ordering us two Sticky Toffee Puddings which were gobbled up in seconds they were so good!! Three bottles of divine French Burgundy ensures that we would all leave in the jolliest of moods . No driving!!!! But two loving wives were on hand to drive us off home!!!

Two of visited Williams for the firt time on Friday evening, 18th January. We ordered 2 G&Ts;, Oysters, Scallops, two Lemon Sole and the first bottle of whilte wine on the list. The total bill was around £100 and the entire experience was superb. The service was quick and friendly, the food was fresh, hot and delicious and the atmosphere was warm. The restaurant area is at the back of a fishmonger-delicatessen' shop, which added to the feeling that the food was fresh and high-quality. We thought we had discovered the best fish restaurant in Gloucestershire before but we hadn't, this is it - and the value for money is outstanding.

We were passing through Nailsworth and decided to find somewhere for a spot of lunch. We visited this place and it was really busy yet the lady who greeted us was really accommodating. We only wanted a light lunch so chose baguettes with a variety of fillings from the wide selection of charcuterie and cheeses. Service was outstanding.

Wonderful little cafe. Great attention to detail. Try the sausage rolls. Brilliant. Flaky pastry with a meaty filling that’s perfectly seasoned and cooked. That and the coffee made a really nice afternoon. Lilly the waitress's was great too.she got new Ice to put in my summer berries drink because the ice they had was scrappy. Very professional cafe. Highly recommend.

We visited at lunchtime, and came back 4 more times during our stay. The food was delicious... especially the mushroom and stilton jacket potato and salad. The staff were friendly and efficient. There is a lovely garden, and also a comfortable indoors room. You're spoilt for choice!

A well frequented pub at the bottom of Brimscombe Hill. Modest sized car park for visitors, but a friendly welcome by the hosts. There is a convivial atmosphere inside whether you are visiting for just a drink or for food. The food menu is not very extensive, however the food is of exceptional quality. Friendly staff & worth a repeat visit if passing.
