Visiting from Cornwall, and fish and chips were amazing! In honesty, we probably only needed a portion between the 2 of us as portions were very generous!

I had the fish and chips and the curry and sure wasn’t disappointed!! Nice fish with lovely batter, chips and good as they get and the curry sauce was fantastic. Everything was tasty. Wrapped in newspaper just like the old days. The service was great and served very quickly . I would definitely recommend. 10/10. .

Absolutely lovely food , had chips and battered sausages from there with the wifey , then took them to bradgate to eat . Been to this chippy a few times , always good quality and friendly service .

Recently moved to Anstey and thought we'd try out the chip shops in the village. Wow! Delicious! The curry sauce is the best I can ever remember having too. Reasonably priced, friendly service. Definitely our new favourite chippy. Just one thing to note, it's cash only so bear that in mind before you go

Brilliant fish and chips. Fish cooked to perfection, chips just how I like them. Will return regularly when fancy F&C now. Best I've had ever. Love the traditional look you don't see anymore and the newspaper wrapping, service was polite too.

Had regular chips from here and they lived up to the hype. Fresh cut chips served with a beautiful smile. Will be back again when around the area

I have discovered this place accidentally few month ago after visiting Bradgate Park. I must say we live about 5 miles away, but this has become our goto place every Friday now. It's immaculate, extremely clean, so friendly and tasty of course. Upon my fisrt visit I've felt as if I was dragged back in time few decades. Amazing, absolutely amazing. Thank you

I just had to share this after my wife and i went on a walk to Bradgate park we came across, what i can only describe as on of the most back in time chip shops i have ever eaten from, bar only the black country museum. what an amazing time casual this eatery this is. The shop is just a feast for the eyes with old memorabilia on the walls. The food did no disappointment eather with the taste of the past. The host was just lovely with nothing to much for her, with her poor husband rushing around sweating but still had the time to talk. How this shop is not on great places to visit in Leicester i can only wonder, we are missing this gem

I took the kids for a chippy tea on Friday and what a treat it was. The fish was cooked to perfection and so were the chips, I felt like I was at the seaside! Great value for money. Lovely friendly service, ooh and the mushy peas are to die for! Same time next week x

I have used this chip shop on numerous occasions and the standard of the food has been good. However I revisited this shop a few days ago. I was extremely disappointed with my fish and chips. The batter on the fish was very over cooked, it was hard to the extreme and the fish inside the batter was quite small. The chips were also over cooked to the point where I had to dispose of a handful of chips, some of them were almost opaque and some of them were burnt to a crisp. After waiting 25 minutes to get served I doubt whether I’ll bother again. Also £9 for basic F&C is quite expensive in my book.

Best chippy in Leicestershire. I've eaten at most chip shops across Leicestershire and this has been my favourite. Friendly service, nice atmosphere and chips are perfect every time. Really nice they try to reduce their carbon footprint too.

I have used this place on many many occasions always excellent. It's a traditional fish and chips shop that doesn't do kebabs or turkey twislers etc. Top quality old fashioned take away and a fair price for a great product.

My mum said that she wanted some fish and chips for her tea so we decided to give this chippy a go and we were not disappointed. The fish was very. Fresh white big flakes of fish with a lovely crispy batter and no fishy smell. The chips and the peas were both excellent as well. I haven’t been to this chippy since i was at school at Anstey martins in the 80s still owned by the same family Thanks for a great meal.

Been a while since we last visited, but this chip shop always delivers the best chippy meal. The owners are really friendly and the decor of the place is engaging whilst you wait. Had my usual super tasty spring rolls and a saveloy sausage, a large cod was recommended for hubby which we had with a large portion of chips and a curry and mushy peas. Once again great sized portions for the price and beautifully cooked and tasty. Highly recommended and worth travelling to if you don’t live in Anstey (like us).

Old fashioned friendly chippy serving good honest freshly prepared food at fair prices, seems a simple formula really but how do so many get it so wrong, i live in groby but well worth the extra mile.

Fantastic little ship shop. Very friendly staff, great choice. Quickly prepared and great prices. What more do you need! They do only take cash payments though, so go prepared!

Beautiful food! My husband and daughter are both coeliac, both love the gluten free fish and chips! It is hard to find places that cater for gluten free but William Waltons has various gluten free options. Very friendly staff, fantastic atmosphere and overall amazing food!

We adore this place; the chips are great, the fish is devine, light batter and beautifully cooked and the curry sauce!!! It’s different to the usually chip shop curry sauce, it’s darker, richer and has such better flavour. We are proud to call this our regular.

We visited William Walton’s recently and the food and service was excellent. We had to queue, but not for long. I would recommend you try here for your next fish and chips supper.

The best fish and chips for miles around. Not only do they serve the best chips in Anstey (by far), but they do for miles around. This is proper fish and chips. Plenty of options on the menu, including deep fried black pudding(!) and always served by a friendly face. The family are wonderful people and this place is a must for anyone in the area!

Went here on Saturday evening. Ordered large cod, whitebait, spring rolls (OMG, so tasty), chips mushy peas & curry. A short wait for the whitebait and spring rolls, but always worth an extra 5mins or so for such delicious food. This is proper traditional fair with great service and well worth the very reasonable price. Highly recommended.

One of our sons and his family live in Anstey. It was their 11th wedding anniversary. We offered to baby sit while they went to SAPORI (as it happens, also in Anstey, and also AWESOME).

This family-run fish and chip shop cooks the best fish and chips ever. The fish is delicious, with more fish than batter, and the batter is light and not too greasy. I love that everything is wrapped in newspaper with not a plastic or polystyrene tray in sight.

I just read a reviewer on here slatting this brilliant traditional chippy off and saying Bucks in Leicester is better, I live a 5minute walk from Bucks and wouldn't touch their fish with a bargepole it's often grey in colour and the batter is never crispy always leathers and most of it sticks to the paper and peeks off, Waltons on the other hand is cooked fresh and coated in a satisfyingly crispy batter. It's that good I'd rather drive to Anstey than take the 5 minutes to walk to Bucks

Best chip shop, the food is beautiful and the staff are really lovely

We were looking forward to a great chippy supper as we’d had really good chips before. This time the chips were not very good at all, they didn’t seem freshly cooked and were not that hot. It was about 6 o’clock when we picked them up so early in the frying time. I would have thought the chips would be straight from the fryer at this time. Won’t bother again.

This place never fails to deliver excellent food when we go. Everything is perfectly cooked with lovely fresh ingredients.

Best fish and chips in anstey. Carry on as they are and they will need to put a shelter up for those queuing outside.

We have 4 chippies closer to us, & occasionally we nip to one of them....but to be honest, we should always come here, it is *always* worth the trip!

Decided to try this place tonight as we had such a terrible experience of Anstey Chippy. It was easy to find, well presented and had traditional style. Prices were better than the other fish bar in the village as well. The most important bit is the food though. The chips were cooked in nice fresh oil, the batter was crisp and the fish was tasty. We had cod and chips and it was delicious. Will come back soon.

Old fashioned chippy the best one in years

Following reading previous rave reviews, I decided to try the fish & chips for myself. Wow! They have got to be amongst the best I have ever tasted. The batter was crisp and not greasy and the fish, (Haddock), tasted really fresh. As for the chips, they were perfectly cooked and again not greasy. In addition to the usual cod, Plaice & haddock, Sea Bass, Calamari, whitebait and Scampi were also available. The owners were very welcoming & friendly and the portions were more than adequate. Judging by the amount of customers, everyone appreciated this. Well worth a visit.
