Devonshire Fisheries in Charnwood

Solid, great value chippy. I come here for just chips fairly often, and sometimes get their slush as well. The large chips comes in a very generous portion (enough for 2) for a very decent price. The chips themselves are fairly average for a chippy. Nothing outstanding, nothing wrong with them - you know what you're getting. Although I haven't tried it, I should mention they offer flavoured chips with a lot of different seasoning options, which I haven't seen in a chippy before Today I also tried their battered sausage, onion rings, and gravy. The battered sausage is nice and thick with a nice taste. The batter is fairly light and soft rather than being crispy. Pretty decent sausage, and around half the price of other battered sausages in Loughborough (£1.85 per sausage). Would definitely recommend The onion rings were decent value, but I was a bit let down to see they were pre-bought from frozen onion rings rather than being made in house. However, they did have a distinctive chippy taste to them, so I would guess they're fried in the same oil as the fish which makes them taste a bit better than you'd be able to get them at home. Decent amount for the price The gravy was a decent value for the amount I got, and was the exact gravy taste you'd expect from chippy brown gravy, no complaints, and went very nicely with the sausage I haven't tried the fish, so I'd suggest looking at other reviews for that, but overall decent chippy which, besides the favoured chips and shush machine, isn't super special either

Nice fish and chips with mushy peas for sharing

Smell was amazing as I opened it Fish bites and mushy peas were lovely, however the chips were disappointing, they can’t have been much thicker that an ice lolly stick, not much potato in most of them at all 😢

fish not great but nice chips, stop near with my son a couple of times.

Very impressed - I had mini fish and chips with peas (there is a choice of sides) and it was a really decent portion for £8.50. Four hours later, I still feel full. I went at a quietish time (Saturday, 5 p.m.) and ate on one of the tables outside. Very nice people serving too. Having lived in Loughborough for 52 years, I can't believe I have never tried Devonshire Fisheries before, but what's certain is that I will be back.

First time visiting this place.. Very good 👍 fish 🐟 & potato 🥔 Lea cooked the fish 🐟 fresh All Staff members are helpful, polite and friendly.. The fish was even better than the one in Leicester as I think 💭 they use clean oil to cook 👨‍🍳 their food. The tartar sauce was really good 🙂 Thanks!

Always friendly, quick service and good food

good food shame about the price hike. small chips were £3.10 now £4.45, peas were £1.60 now 2.15, cod was £9.60 now £11.75. we all know that prices are going up but this is ridiculous. fish and chips for a family of four £53.60 ( x4 fish £11.75 + £6.60 large chips ). It's time we all stopped paying these extortionate prices and maybe the proprioters of these shops will learn that people will not tolerate being fleeced. I won't be buying from here again.

Full English breakfast and a coffee for about £7, not bad at all. Handy town centre location, pleasant staff.

I ordered at around 8.40 it’s now 10.15 took ages to get a driver then the driver was at the restaurant for ages and ages then I get the food it’s stone cold !!

£6.80 for a cone of chips, a single Linda McCartney sausage, and a miniscule amount of beans.

Pies were grisly. They are normally fine. The food was not as hot as usual.

Wow. Fish and chips. But this is over and above. The large fish was gigantic and we both worried if we could finish it. It was tasty, crispy and delicious. The staff were helpful and friendly with really great service. And the price was very reasonable.

I visited here for the first time recently and the team were super friendly and attentive, very much vegetarian-friendly, and the chips and curry sauce tasted great - I definitely recommend!

Always ordered from here but was disappointed with today's meal the chips were semi cooked the pies were cold and the crusts were hard beans warm

The foods good but the seating inside is too close to each other. The space between the tables are small and it right next to the toilet which isn't good or nice at all I don't want to smell the loo when someone came out even if I'm not eating. There is seating outside which is really nice and the staff are lovely and effective and it looks clean.

Staff are friendly & cannot fault the food. All very fresh & piping hot. The only thing that will stop me from returning is the state of the ladies toilet. No soap whatsoever, the hand dryer broken & everywhere thick with dirt. The really worrying thing is, when the staff use the toilet, they obviously can’t wash their hands either. Such a shame as the food is delicious!

Other than expensive at £14 odd for a mini fish child’s chips and curry sauce but can’t really dis the quality of it. Everything tasty and perfectly cooked and packaged. The quality is good x

I ordered a jacket potato 2 weeks ago, it was a good size but I ordered coleslaw and tuna it turned up with just coleslaw. I gave them the benefit of doubt and ordered a jacket again this week but just with tuna. It was a tiny potato and hardly any tuna. I had to put more topping on myself.

Me and my boyfriend come here often for lunches and breakfast. Staff are lovely and very accommodating (I'm a fussy eater and they are happy to substitute foods for your favourites ) My boyfriend loves the "big 1" and their hash browns are amazing! The food is great for the low prices and they have big portions. Would definitely recommend for other Loughborough uni students :)

Paid £20, for one large cod small chips and fish bites meal deal and X2 drinks and mushy peas. Actual cod meat was joke and don't expect any sauces to be chucked in.

The food was delivered on time but the delivery person did not knock loud enough or ring the doorbell to let us know it was there , therefore after ringing the shop to complain turns out not there fault ,I checked the door and it was left there but now cold was not happy 😠

Needing to update..when 1st taken over it was fab hence the below 5 star comments..but not ant more..totally gone down hill with the chips..had a fish that seemed to be warmed up..not good..been eating elsewhere lately. Amazing fish chips and peas..you Must try the milkshakes and ice cream sundaes! Wow! Perfect! Great team of staff. See you again soon for our dinner and puddings x

It was average, wouldn't say great, had long wait for my fish to be cooked. I know its fresh but was long time! Enjoyed it though.
