Best fish and chip shop in Loughborough in my opinion

Never disappoints for quality chips.

£6.80 for a cone of chips, a single Linda McCartney sausage, and a miniscule amount of beans.

First time here, delicious mini fish,chips and peas,very prompt service,was delivered to table before I had collected cutlery !

Wow. Fish and chips. But this is over and above. The large fish was gigantic and we both worried if we could finish it. It was tasty, crispy and delicious. The staff were helpful and friendly with really great service. And the price was very reasonable.

I visited here for the first time recently and the team were super friendly and attentive, very much vegetarian-friendly, and the chips and curry sauce tasted great - I definitely recommend!

The only chip shop i know that when you say i want fresh chips you get fresh chips. you can see why they are always busy...keep up the good work!

The foods good but the seating inside is too close to each other. The space between the tables are small and it right next to the toilet which isn't good or nice at all I don't want to smell the loo when someone came out even if I'm not eating. There is seating outside which is really nice and the staff are lovely and effective and it looks clean.

Food was excellant tables were dirty thou and messed up,things weren't cleared away ? but service and food were excellant

Staff are friendly & cannot fault the food. All very fresh & piping hot. The only thing that will stop me from returning is the state of the ladies toilet. No soap whatsoever, the hand dryer broken & everywhere thick with dirt. The really worrying thing is, when the staff use the toilet, they obviously can’t wash their hands either. Such a shame as the food is delicious!

Best chippy in town with great friendly staff at affordable prices never a let down and alway yummy.

Me and my boyfriend come here often for lunches and breakfast. Staff are lovely and very accommodating (I'm a fussy eater and they are happy to substitute foods for your favourites ) My boyfriend loves the "big 1" and their hash browns are amazing! The food is great for the low prices and they have big portions. Would definitely recommend for other Loughborough uni students :)

Paid £20, for one large cod small chips and fish bites meal deal and X2 drinks and mushy peas. Actual cod meat was joke and don't expect any sauces to be chucked in.

Needing to update..when 1st taken over it was fab hence the below 5 star comments..but not ant more..totally gone down hill with the chips..had a fish that seemed to be warmed up..not good..been eating elsewhere lately. Amazing fish chips and peas..you Must try the milkshakes and ice cream sundaes! Wow! Perfect! Great team of staff. See you again soon for our dinner and puddings x

It was average, wouldn't say great, had long wait for my fish to be cooked. I know its fresh but was long time! Enjoyed it though.

The fish bites and chips used to be really good. Like everything they've increased price, more chips and massively lowered the quality of the fish sticks. Come on guys.... Why??

The fish was dead so sad The chips not cut at all just whole lobs of potato Peas are dry Floor was sticky And the slush puppy was more like cranberry juice with water no Pepsi no icy at all But seriously 😐

spot on place for chips, fish & chips, sausage & chips ....anything & chips really - we come over from leicester most weeks & have something from there...chips are different from other places it seems! dunno wether its the spuds or the way they cut them etc but they are lush...could do with a mild chili powder shaker so that you can have it on chips & curry sauce...hint - hint!

I love this place! I’ve been to a few chippys in Loughborough and nothing compares to this. Reasonably priced food, great tasting grub and the staff are always extremely friendly. I highly recommend!

Had some issues with Just Eat, but these guys went above and beyond to help and get us our food regardless. Always really good food, and absolutely wonderful service.

Our last two visits on Saturday market day have been really poor which is a shame as the Fish & Chip specials used to be of a good quality but unfortunately not anymore. Fish is dark & tasteless so quite clearly using a different supplier as the fish did used to be lovely but there you go my review is our opinion & we will use elsewhere in our future visits. Low quality fish in a rubbery batter in fact i should have just got my money back but my wife did not want a scene. Shame on the owners who now sell low/poor quality fish but have also upped the price. Vote with your feet!

£2 for a small portion of chips is about 40p too expensive but these were really very good tasty and well cooked. Highly recommended

Each time visiting Devonshire Fisheries, I've always had a great experience. Prices are very reasonable for the portions (huge!) The staff are always so, very welcoming and accommodating. Always very jolly and polite, which really makes the experience even better. And the food... Yes! 👌The fish is amazing, and so are the chips! Their fishcakes are tasty, as is everything else from the menu. Each time, the meals have been piping hot and very filling... Definitely doesn't disappoint! The only thing that maybe could be implemented, is a card machine as only cash is accepted. But a very minor thing, as there are plenty of cash machines at hand. Looking forward to our next visit!

The food in this place is exceptional. Cooked to perfection. Friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. The only thing that lets this place down is the small unkept toilets. Otherwise the quality of food 100%

Okay so it's busy and the staff are shouty. But how many Fish and Chips shops are left in Loughborough? Or in the county? We've everything else except good Fish and Chips here, but we've got Devonshire Fisheries at 35 Devonshire Square. The county is exceptionally multicultural, and even cultured. It's great, but what's happened to our English Fish and Chips and where did they go?

My daughter always chooses to eat here when we visit Loughborough as it’s one of the only gf chippies in Leicestershire. Staff are always willing to turn the gf fryer on for us, even though we have to wait around 20-30 mins for it, the chips are definitely worth it. The owner is fab and always makes us laugh. Sometimes you can’t get a seat in the cafe area but it is a very popular place. Go just before or after lunch time if you want to sit down straight away. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

Great food fantastic service but please sort the toilet out its just disgusting since my last visit the sauce bottles have been replaced and tidyed up but this really is an issue that needs sorting

Knowing several cafes in Loughborough already, we arrived in town today quite hungry so decided to indulge in fish and chips - the Devonshire Fisheries cafe being so handy between the car park and shopping area. A typical menu greeted us, with friendly staff ready to serve. Signs indicated that cod would be cooked on order, but we were pleasantly surprised to find our meals being served immediately on ordering. Initially we were pleased to have proper potato chips of varying size - indicating home made. The batter on the fish was thin and light. However, further into our meal, we found the fish to only just being fully cooked. I had tried to ignore the fact that my plate had arrived with a hair on it up till now, but events were adding up, sadly. Portions are huge though and black pepper was provided among the condiments, a welcome surprise. My husband visited the toilets only to report that they only just provided a facility. There was not room between the toilet basin and door to step round it while closing the door. There is a 5* hygiene certificate displayed in the shop. The manager has clearly been in place for quite some time as he knew many customers who came in during our visit. It is a popular cafe with regulars, but we were not included in the jovialities - the manager 'turned the other cheek' when he discovered that we had already eaten in his restaurant and would not be placing another order on our way out!!! Please do try it, you may have better luck than we did today. The chicken dishes and cheeseburgers may be better, who knows... Electronic payment is not possible, this is a CASH ONLY cafe.

Fantastic food, but filthy toilets and the sauce bottles are just appalling and re filling the ketchup with cheap stuff isn't clever too please sort the cleanliness of the place because as I say the foods lovely

my fiance and I came here for chips I'd be lots of times before and always enjoyed them the manager had an attitude and was very sarcastic we bought chips and the other half said it wasn't worth the money we had eaten 3 chips from the plate he then complained he wasn't very nice and shoved more chips at us not the right way to treat customers so won't be dining here again 🖒

Great staff had turned fryer off for gluten free fush but put it back on for my other half to have fish and chips thank you guys great service and customer care

Peces eran enormes, y se podía decir que estaba fresca. El personal era muy amable, y muy fácil para preguntar sobre el menú. Por ejemplo, normalmente me alojo lejos de pescado, como requisito dietético, sin embargo comprando para alguien, pedí una recomendación y el hombre me sirve un buen chiste, agrietados y me dio una buena recomendación, (mi amigo lo disfrutamos).

The piece of Fried Fish I purchased was undoubtedly the best I have tasted and experienced in a very long time. A proper cross cut of Skinless Cod Fillet with thick flakes of fish (not like the tail pieces of fish in most establishments) fried to perfection in a thin and tasty crisp batter. Congratulations to the Greek Cypriot owner. Worth every penny of £4.50.

Great service, value and fast food all inclusive locally to Loughborough Market. Was taken here a couple of times whilst travelling the UK, and was impressed with the value of their all day breakfast with toast and hot drinks (tea/coffee).

I visited this place today for while at the market with my family. Ordered lunch fish and chips and battered susages and chips. 20mins waiting.The battered susage was uneatable and cold. Every chip was either covered in black marks and bruised very greasy. Very overpriced. And extremely dirty environment needs a through deep clean and modernised more professional staff less ques.will not return to this chip shop ever. Overall experience very poor standards in practice in this chip shop

Very friendly staff and fast service. The chips are very goo, I think best in Loughborough town. You can all eat in side.

I should start by saying that as a take-away I've no complaints. But we've been irritated or frustrated a couple of times recently when we've eaten in. The surroundings are nothing to write home about: fixed tables and seats, unmatched cutlery salt and vinegar on the wall, but that's OK: we're eating, not celebrating. Kids meal - 'fish bites' - never again. I assumed little 'un was being picky, but after trying them I can't blame him. The two more recent visits were characterised by incomplete or wrong orders. I'll accept that in a noisy shop on a busy day 'beans might sound like 'peas'. But the effort of getting this rectified seemed out of all proportion. Will I go back? Probably, as this is still the only fish & chip shop in the centre with more than a couple of tables, but I have to say eating out of (newsless)paper in the park is much to be preferred.

I love coming here one of the best in Loughborough. I happily come here for breakfast too as they are that good! Also happy to serve and happy staff which are welcoming. Also come in with my mum.

Devonshire Fisheries is the most popular eat in or take out Fish and Chip hop in the centre of Lougborough. It's actually the only sit in traditional Fish and Chip shop in the very centre of town.It's only open in the day and not on Sndays.Good traditional Fish and Chips - eat in or out on the street - lovely!

Came here as i was visiting Loughborough for the weekend. Fab fish and chips. I had to wait for the fish to be cooked, but it was well worth the wait.The restaurant side was quite busy as well.

Visited today, great cheap lunch, we sat in at the restaurant area. Good prices, not much extra than their take away prices. Food arrived quickly and tasted great!

well this is the best place togo to have a nice full english breakfast as well as your fish and chips! lovely and clean place. the staff are so lovely friendly and helpful always greet you will a smile! phil is great! me and my sister always go for breakfast when we can its the best!

This is a traditional fish and chip shop with a small cafe attached. The chap running it was very cheerful and helpful. We had our fish and chip lunch in the cafe. Service was incredibly quick.We had the mini fish, chips and mushy peas at a 'special' price of £4.60, which was good value for a plateful of piping hot, freshly cooked food. The fish was lovely. A mug of freshly made tea was only 70p. Okay, it is not smart but for a quick, cheap and cheerful lunch you can't go wrong here.
