Our go-to place, given that almost all the dishes are gluten free. Yes - GF battered sausage, chips and gravy!!! Boom. It has a great reputation for its fish and chips, which is not wholly undeserved. Most of my family rate Rothley Fisheries above all others - though I personally find the batter chewy and the fish a little overcooked. Chips are lovely. Portions are gigantic... and the service is always wonderful; you rarely wait, and the staff are cheery. A tad pricey.

As a family we have dined in several times over the last 18 months. We tend to visit late afternoon. On arrival we always receive a genuine, warm friendly welcome by the waitresses. Fast service, meals always arrive freshly cooked and taste delicious. We have tried fish, pies, gyros and various sides and the quality never fails to deliver. They also cater for large groups. However, advisable to book if you are large group. You can take your own booze, they provide you with wine glasses and glasses out the freezer for your beers. The Management occasionally walk through the restaurant and are really friendly. All in all this chippy restaurant is superb and ticks all our boxes. Hence, why we always return. Never tried take away meals so can't comment on that side of the business.

Called on way home from pantomime tonight. Very disappointed as food was cold when we got home, 3 minute car journey, and £12.20 for mini fish, small chips & sausage. Will certainly not be returning.

Gluten free options are amazing. All batter there is gluten free ALL of the time. My wife is Coeliac and this was the first battered sausage in 15 years. Staff are also really friendly and helpful. Great restaurant so you can eat in or take away.

As a coeliac I felt really safe eating here, the staff were lovely and helpful. The whole meal was amazing, the fish wasn’t greasy, the chips were cooked just right and the service was really quick. Really recommend!

We ate at the Rothley Fisheries on Tuesday 25th. We had 3 x Fish/Chips/Mushy peas and 1 x Fish/Chips/Curry sauce, Pickled onions, Gherkins and Halloumi Sticks. As the food was of high quality, well cooked and presented. The Young Lady who served us was a delight. I normally include the cost when reviewing a restaurant. On this occasion “ Rich Richard” kindly paid the bill. The Rothley Fisheries is highly recommended for a traditional Fish/Chips evening. Paul Reynolds.

I came into the restaurant earlier tonight and loved every second of it. The service was great. All of the staff are very polite and friendly, even though we came in quite late and so delayed their cleaning and home time - Sorry 😅 They clearly enjoy being there and fit the roles perfectly As also appears to be the case for the manager/owner. He clearly loves the job and sees his staff as family - exactly what a business like such requires. Customers see these relationships and sense the welcoming nature and that's when they will be willing to return. All of this, coupled with the fluffy but crispy chips, made it one of the best meals I have ever had at a chip shop and will definitely be taking a detour to stop by again soon

Walked in after a 35 min drive based on a recommendation. Fish was fried to perfection. Not under. Not over. Perfection. Batter was bubbly and light yet creamy enough to cover the fish inside with a sweet hinting taste that true batter should carry. The chips. Solid golden crisp on outside. Fluffy inside with no oil run off or burns. The oil and temperature clearly maintained I cannot fault them. Not many places even my own local favourites in birmingham have the traditional taste look and freshness on point like this. It isnt modern fish and chips. Its what it was and should have stayed like. Beautiful

Booked a table for 3 for hubby’s birthday(31/8) and when we arrived the table was decorated which was a lovely touch, hubby and son had Fish and chips and I had a the mixed gyro, the Tzatziki was homemade and so fresh, was delicious. Fish and chips were fresh, hot and clear plates all round! Thank you to our lovely waitress as well!

I was recently told Rothley Fisheries did gluten free fish and chips but was sceptical as its so rare. But I was so wrong. After dropping by on the weekend, I can say that Rothley Fisheries is a proper gluten free fish and chip shop perfectly suitable for sufferers of coeliacs! They are knowledgeable and friendly, and the food is excellent (even for those who don't need a GF diet). I would highly recommend them to anyone with a gluten intolerance or allergy who has had to give up 'proper' chippy fish and chips, you will not regret it at all!

We always get fish and chips here when we travel down from Scotland to visit my mother in law in Mountsorrel. They have always been excellent, freshly cooked with crisp and tasty chips, but this time, Friday 21st July at 6.30 the fish was dry and the chips soft and soggy. Very disappointing and so unlike our usual experience. I hope this was just a blip.

Highly recommended, we ate in the restaurant and it was very well themed, quick service and the food was beautiful. I have lived in the area all my life and never knew that restaurant was there and as good as it was 🙈 but will definitely be back now we know 😁

Stopped off here on the way home from holiday after looking online for gluten free fish and chip shops. Ordered online before we arrived - was very busy which is always a good sign. We had gluten free fish and chips, sausages in batter and mushy peas and it was all lovely. Portions are a good size, unfortunately couldn't eat all the chips. Would definitely recommend.

Been coming to Rothley Fisheries for decades but haven't visited since Covid. Had a lovely fish and chip meal, served very quickly. Lovely, friendly staff here made to feel very welcome. Thankyou to Kirsty and Leanne for being so lovely and welcoming.

The cheapest option? Certainly not. The best option in the area? Almost certainly! Rothley Fisheries is easily one of the best 'chippies' in the area, although to call it that is probably to do it a disservice. There is an excellent range of chip shop staples on the menu, which are freshly cooked or to order - with little if anything that's been hanging around which was cooked hours ago. There's also a splendid range of Greek gyros and similar dishes - which I would highly recommend even if they take a few minutes to assemble. The bread is a particular delight, and a special recommendation for the chicken gyros - which comes with a good portion of chips so don't order extra if you don't want it! Chip portions come in three sizes small, regular and large - even a regular is a GENEROUS portion, so choose your size wisely. Oh, and there's a handy small car park just across the road so it's easy enough to pop over and make your order - although I think they take online and telephone orders too. The staff are friendly and highly efficient, which is a real change from some other places in the area!

Most of the menu is gluten free, good for a gluten free diet or mild intolerance but celiac sufferers have had trouble since the menu has expanded.

We have been here twice now. One eating in and one takeaway. There batter is always gluten free. It's golden and crispy with good quality fish. If you eat in you get offered extra chips. Good luck to you if you can as the fish portions are large. We also shared some onion rings since it is rare I can have these being diagnosed with Coeliac disease. We won't be able to come here without the curry sauce. We both like the mild one and it great too! Well worth a detour if you are in the area.

We went with a group of people as a twinning activity between Loughborough and Gembloux (Belgium). From the start we felt very welcome. We were impressed that our orders came all together. The staff is definitely friendly and very well organised. On top of that, we could bring our own wine. This is a place to recommend if you want to enjoy a Fish & Chips with family or friends.

Went there this evening for a family tea & it was absolutely lovely. Good price range & excellent portion sizes £13 for a large cod, chips and sauce can't really go wrong. Staff were extremely polite and attentive, would definitely recommend to others and will be coming again.

Food was ok, driver got abit lost and we had a abit of language barrier issue, enjoyed the cod, chips seemed like they was baked not crispy like chippy chips. Gyros was ok a little on the small side. But ok.

I ordered a piece of Cod ,small chips and baked beans. The cod had hard batter surrounding the piece of cod which made the cod all congealed to the batter. As for the chips for £3.50 for a small portion i don't expect eyes ( black bits where someone hasn't taken them out of the potatoes before chipping them ) in the potatoes .Even had the audacity to short change me of 3p ( it is not the money it is the principle ) The taste of the chips were nothing special either ( can buy chips like that anywhere ) So for a grand total of £10.67 you guessed it I will not be entering the shop again Thanks for ruining my dinner !

Food is always good here but I am SO disappointed that they have stopped the ability to pay by card when ordering online for a delivery, big mistake here! In this day and age of people using cash less and less I'm afraid that I have to weigh up the quality of food versus the ease of ordering and delivery. So i have resorted to an outlet in Sileby who deliver and you can use card payment. I know others who are now reluctantly doing the same as me. You need to readdress this or you will keep losing business to competitors

Absolutely fantastic gluten free chicken / fish and chips with curry sauce .. have this every Saturday tea time and it’s never a disappointment. Not only is the food fantastic but the owners and the staff are extremely helpful and offer a great service . Being coeliac and being able to have this from the chip shop is just magical for me . I would highly recommend having your fish and chips from here if your coeliac …. All the batter is gluten free and it’s so nice , light and crispy just how it should be . Absolutely perfect 👌

Just had lunch at Rothley Fisheries with my local Friendship Group (there were approximately 20 of us). Tables had already been laid and on our arrival we were given large pots of tea. Our orders were taken and shortly afterwards our food arrived. The fish chips and mushy peas were absolutely delicious, not greasy at all and piping hot! I had ordered the mini cod deal and was surprised at how much there was - enough to take some home! Thank you Rothley Fisheries for a fabulous lunch and special thanks to our two lovely servers.

Been going to Rothley Fisheries for years, always worth the 15 minute journey as they are probably the best in Leicestershire. Portion sizes are huge, the food tastes phenomenal and the staff are so friendly and accommodating to all your needs. Nearly the entire menu is gluten free and there are vegetarian options too. It is under new ownership since 2022 but the exceptionally high standards have definitely been maintained.

Rothley Fisheries came up on a search for gluten free fish and chips, and I couldn't be happier. Since being diagnosed with ceoliac disease I have only had 1 fish and chip take away that ended in a bad reaction, so I was delighted when I called and was told that all of their batter is gluten free and all gluten containing foods are cooked separately and stored separately so that they aim to keep a gluten free kitchen! I ordered our food on the website, so many gluten free options to choose from (onion rings, battered sausage, halloumi fries..) and everything was labelled for gluten free! Our food was ready for collection in 15 minutes, I drove over from Loughborough and they packed it all fresh there and then, drove it home to Loughborough.. food was still hot, batter was lovely and crispy and everything tasted amazing 😍 and the best part.. Its the first take away I've had since diagnosis that hasn't made me sick! So so happy and I won't be having fish and chips anywhere else, also looking forward to popping in for a table on my lunch break at work! Also the onion rings were as big as your face and had a lovely crunch and my partner loved his gluten-full burger too!

Good size portions. When they started doing Greek gyros there was pork and chicken which was amazing. They then changed the pork to lamb which was essentially Doner meat, a very very tasty doner meat I might add. Had a bit of spice and was different vs regular kebab shop kebab meat. I ordered tonight, however, and the doner meat was pretty much the same as kebab shop meat, although it was nice, I was a little disappointed that they have possibly changed from the other lamb doner. Staff are always friendly and helpful if I phone up. Deliveries are quick and again the drivers are friendly. A suggestion would be to offer a mixed meat (chicken and lamb) with halloumi option, you do it with the gyros meals but for some reason only have lamb and halloumi in the meats menu. I would have put 5 stars if it wasn’t for the above.

We enjoyed a great meal last night. The service was so friendly and welcoming, the food arrived quickly. We all agreed the cod was the best we had for years and the chips were fab. Can’t wIt to return!

Popped in for a lunch for four on fish friday. Everything was cooked to perfection with lovely hot chips. The halloumi fritter was something different and delicious! The 3 x large fish we ordered were all deliciously flaky inside with a crispy batter. All served with a smile by the fab staff! My favourite chippy!

Rothley's fisheries were great. We brought our football team after a game. We are a team from Canada and really enjoyed the experience. The service was amazing. The portion of fish and chips were huge. Highly recomend the curry or peas on the side.
