Serving larger in ale pint glasses with no widgets is the worst. No one in this day and age ever wants to drink a lager that looks flat and tastes flat. You can do better than that. Breweries don’t charge for pint glasses like you keep telling your customers

Went in. All rosy. Had a beer. Lovely. Even got offered a second pint for the price of a half. Excellent. Played the fruit machine. A random "power cut" happened to occur, just when I won money on a feature. Before the feature completed, a power cut happened. This meant the winnings didn't transfer to the balance, meaning I lost the lot. This power cut didn't affect the lights, just the fruit machine, till, and stereo. Staff were totally disinterested when i complained. When I said their response wasn't good enough, the lady behind the bar told me she had a mind to switch the machine off and ask me to leave, as I was being so rude. This is a dreadful way to treat customers; there may well have been nothing they could do, but they could have apologized, or offered me a drink, or even a refund. What came across was "We've got your money now, so tough." I asked the landlady directly to be reimbursed. The response? "What proof have you got?" I couldn't believe her attitude. I was then told "The answer's no, you didn't win the money." It was as if she thought I was trying to con the pub.....the amount I asked to be refunded was £15.00. Why on earth would I claim to have won £15.00 if I hadn't? That's not even three drinks nowadays, is it? This demonstrated pure ignorance, given the amount of money I've put over their bar, and in their machine in recent months. If you can't treat customers (or even talk to them) better than that, you shouldn't be publicans. I understand it was my choice to gamble, and when you gamble, you have to expect to lose. But it was their total refusal to acknowledge that I didn't get the gameplay I paid for which was so poor. Anyone who knows me will tell you I'm a big chunky bloke who enjoys a pint and who isn't afraid to chuck money about in a pub. But don't you DARE make out I'm trying to con you. I promise you, I will NEVER visit your premises again, in future I'll use The Fox, a proper pub where I'm treated like royalty. Your loss, not mine.

When the pub was first taken over and renovated a few months ago it was lovely and the staff were lovely. The pub itself is still lovely but the “new” barmaid is not so, very unwelcoming and actually quite rude and snappy.

It's been YEARS since I last visited this pub. I popped in whilst waiting for my dog to have her groom around the corner. The place has been freshened up since my last bist and to be honest, a total treat. Good selection of beers/ales, cocktails on tap and from what I saw a very good pub food menu. Collected my dog after her groom, popped back had another lovely ale. (Tim Taylors) can't really go wrong. Was a real pleasure to visit and next time I'll be sure to have more time. Brilliant job.

New menu widely advertised . Visited on a week day lunchtime . Made to feel incredibly welcome by bar staff (Tracy) Just the two of us and our dog ! Menu is traditional and a Caribbean twist . Burger and chips were very good ! The jerk chicken burger was superbly cooked with obvious great passion by chef ( Lenny) all sauces and dressings homemade and prepared to your preference of spice/ heat . A great effort being made , a nice touch by the chef to speak to all diners on their thoughts !! Definitely worth a visit !!!

Afternoon dog walk , popped in for a quick pint !! Warm and friendly welcome !! Chat with the charming and polite bar person Charlie turned our 1 drink into 2 !! Decided to have a bite to eat ! Lisa who runs the kitchen ( I think ?) was very attentive, food was superbly fresh and hot !! Really couldn’t have been better service !! If you see the Harvey as a “ back street boozer “ think again!! A real effort is being made here to keep locals and new clientele happy !! Give them a go , you won’t be disappointed!! 5 stars !!

Visited on a midweek evening. Booked in advance for the buy one get one half price main meal offer. Starters somewhat overpriced (almost £5 for garlic bread!) But main meals reasonably priced. Ordered lamb shank which was delicious. Potato and veg selection lovely and was decent portion with extra gravy. Children's meal not so good, french fries and overcooked chicken nuggets! Drinks rather expensive, almost £5 for small glass of red wine. Would go there again but not on a regular basis.

Unfortunately the Sunday Roast was the worse one we had ever had. Whether it was the size of the party, but everybody's meat was overcooked, the veg was cold and not one person finished their meal. It was the worst experience ever. I have been drinking in the Harvey for the last 30 plus years, won't be going back.

We had our volunteer/work Xmas meal at this pub a few days ago. It was a delicious vegan meal and we all ordered the Roast. There was a large range of vegetables which were cooked to perfection and the seitan was yummy. The Yorkshire puddings and stuffing were also fab. The helpings were massive, more than enough. Thick, hot gravy - mmmm. The table was decorated very prettily and the young waiters were so polite and accommodating. Thanks for a great night.

Arrived at the pub 5minutes before lunch time service finished but they agreed we could eat which was really nice of them especially the waitress/chef who stayed to cook and serve us - much appreciated! Good pub food , nice fresh salad and good fries. Ham, eggs and chips recommend! New owners which have refurbished the pub and it’s nice and cosy.

Out of the main selection of 18 cakes, scones, and shortbreads available there were zero dairy-free and egg free (vegan) options. The only other available dairy-free and egg free (vegan) option was a tiny chocolate and coconut Honey Buns bar. Come on JL in the year 2020 this is just not good enough.

Child’s cod and chips ordered for my young son and they sent rotten old fish, it stunk and was clearly off the smell made me gag, rung to complain so they sent another fish and it was exactly the same old rotten fish that stunk of ammonia was absolutely horrendous if my toddler had eaten it I can imagine it would have made him incredibly ill, ended up having to drive to shop to prove food was bad and just offered the £4.50 back last time we will ever be using this and I recommend others use very cautiously.

Not the cleanest of food outlets outside. There is an array of pigeon droppings along with cigarette butts and what looks like dried donor kebab meat. There has been an attempt to tidy the area at the front of the store, however, the pigeon's are a permanent nuisance. Have not eaten here any time soon. 4 star hygiene certificate displayed in window so, they have experienced problems with the outside of their building, I'm sure an ongoing irritation. Food however, is pretty good and always a very good portion of food. Salad is always fresh.
