Ordered chips sausage and a pea fritter £7.50 Only thing that was hot was the tiny pea fritter but was dripping in fat!!! Then the chips and sausage Luke warm not even hot !!! Avoid it's awful and expensive!!! Never again !!!

Now known as FryStation, with new owners. Completely refitted premises with new cooking equipment. Not sure they have got cooking times (or cooking temperature right yet), as fish batter not crisp, but equally fish flesh not dried out either.

Now being operated by group of young females who spend more time in loud shouted conversation rather than concentrating on cooking fish and chips. As a result, the fish and chips are poorly cooked, and of poor quality. The fish is put in the heated top box, after being cooked in hot oil, but is not left there long enough to drain the cooking oil off, and hence is not crisp when rapidly taken out and wrapped. Equally the chips are correctly cooked several times at different temperatures, but end up limp and soggy; due to low temperature of oil for last cooking process. The present staff really don't have a clue how to provide quality fish and chips.

Out of most things on the menu and when ordered jumbo sausage and cheesy chips it was disgusting. Didn't taste nice at all. Most of the chips were green and tasted like it had gone off. Won't be eating here again.

As a local customer very surprised with the really unacceptable offering tonight. Stone cold haddock with a few scrawny pieces of scampi that took half an hour to deliver. The staff knew the scampi had seen much better days with the comment s between them - including the person in charge. Long hair from the staff dangling into food with raw food being handled straight before and after cooked food and not a sign of any hand washing. Whilst I was there customers were being sent away without their orders being packed and others returned to collect bits that had been missed. The glass fronts for the food were left open for most of the time I was there which probably accounted for the cold offerings. Really unacceptable and on ringing have been told the manager/ owner will call and a refund offered. Hasn’t helped with tonight’s meal tho and very disappointed.

Probably the best Fish & Chips around, the fish is fresh and the oil in which it is cooked is fresh / recently changed as well as the batter tastes good, it is not saturated with oil unlike some fish & chip shops. If i have any complaints, it is not accepting American Express cards when they advertise accepting this card. Please update which cards you accept.

Visited today and purchased an adult’s meal along with two children’s meals. Everything was great, and my son had the pizza and chips, £3.50, great value & certainly worth driving to Willand for!

Tonight these were excellent (I think the lovely man is called Pete) if he is working/cooking then the food is excellent our fish and chips were honestly beautiful, (anyone else then they tend to be cold and soggy, the management need to look into this).

The Worse fish and chips I’ve ever had!! Greasy, soggy batter on fish, uncooked chips...curry sauce tasted of plastic, and obviously came out of a plastic container, and the mushy peas, tasted sweet, and they were hard!! I’ve tried many different shops in mid and north Devon, and I’m afraid, these fish and chips were not good. Will not be going back.

This business started with promise but in the short time it's been open the opening times have been reduced with no notice on the website of the Christmas closure dates. The quality and quantity of the food is now getting so poor people are travelling to Uffculme, Cullompton and Tiverton rather than this shop.

Haven’t been for a few weeks. F&C served in cardboard not polystyrene, and in paper carrier not plastic, so the food is as crisp and warm when you get it home as when it leaves the shop. Lovely pea fritters, although could be a bit smaller! Proper job.

Tonight I bought a portion of fish and chips from this shop.Well as a lover of good fish and chips for most of my 70 years, this was by far the worst I have ever eaten (or tried to eat) The chips were extremely fatty with an over taste, the fish can only be described as awful.A very small remnant of fish,probably some left over from lunchtime and re cooked, covered in a pumped up hard batter coating which disguised the size of the fish content. I visited this shop when it first opened and was very impressed with the product. Sadly I will never return. Wolves 58

Been 4 times now giving this new business a chance to show what it can achieve! It seems fish and chips are always cooked to order which usually assures a much better result. but means delay. First-time approx 40-year-old dad fish and chips were excellent, with batter on fish crisp and chips well cooked. Next time probably his wife was cooking, with a queue of customers, resulted in the short time of fish and chips in hot trays so rather greasy. Third-time similarly aged male ended up with over-cooked chips which ruined the meal. Last time only a few days ago, a queue of customers, lady cooking especially fish, with probably her son serving and cooking chips. He moved the chips from cooking fat to draining bay but were actually left in cooler fat, as was taking orders and money. His mother eventually moved the chips to drain, but the result was they were very greasy. Overall they have the equipment to produce a good product but need to concentrate on cooking arrangements when very busy. I think they will make it eventually when they have trained all the staff.

Went in this evening and ordered large cod and chips and large battered sausage and chips. Sat there waiting watching the guy putting huge pieces of fish into the fryer thinking this looks alright! Asked if I'd like salt and vinegar said yes, all seemed good. Got home opened the cartons and the sausage wasn't battered and I've seen bigger fish in a goldfish bowl. Very tight with the chips as well. Also we could hardly taste any salt or vinegar. Stingy! Rubbish vfm considering I paid 4.80 for the large cod. I can only assume they cocked the order up or the massive pieces of battered fish I saw in the fryer weren't cod. Either way not impressed. I'll stick to the one in cully in future.

Lovely new shop lovely people, Large Portion of chips £2.50, very small what a RIP OFF.. Been twice now, will not be going back. Tiverton Fish & Chips shop, West Exe much better, very good value for money, £3.00 for large chips twice as many as Clarkes

Ci siamo arrivati per caso , durante una delle nostre tante escursioni alla scoperta del territorio ; ci ha subito colpiti per la presenza di molte case con i tetti in paglia e perfettamente conservate. Prima di dare un ‘occhiata al paesino approfittiamo per fare una pausa pranzo in questo simpatico locale. Fish & Chips per tutti (ottimi) e per una sana digestione , una passeggiatina per il borgo. Abbiamo poi saputo che questo piccolo villaggio sta vivendo un momento di popolarità , di cui forse ne farebbe a meno : il terreno su cui è costruito si sta sollevando come in nessun’altra parte del Regno Unito, ad una velocità di 2 centimetri all’anno e tale fenomeno potrebbe creare problemi per la futura linea ferroviaria ad alta velocità. La più attendibile delle ipotesi sarebbe quella della presenza di una falda acquifera che provoca la spinta del terreno verso l’alto. Ad ogni buon conto, noi , il locale in cui abbiamo pranzato, lo consigliamo comunque !

How bad can one visit to a chip shop get?!!! First of all the one positive is we got our food in the end! Even if it was only two children’s sausage and chips which took 35minutes!!! Three people working and only one doing any sign of work! I’m all for employing youngsters locally to help but not if they stand around slouched over the counter doing f all!! It was painful to watch how poorly run this place was! I feel for the lady doing all the work! The worst thing about waiting that long was watching the food I ordered just sitting there in the hot cupboard waiting, anyone with an ounce of initiative would have solved the issues!!!!!! I’ve been in catering for 22 years and never seen anything like it and I love a good local chippy. To think we drove past two chippies in Cullompton to get to this one. I apologise to the new owners for this damming report but it needs it. Oh and 16 chips in a Childs portion is appalling too! However I do understand it is a new business so we will try again and hope we see a remarkable difference.... I don’t hold much hope though.

Lovely piece of fish. Large quantity of chips given, but they were a little dry, could be the type of potato for the season. Parking available outside. Will go again

Both the chips and the fish were under cooked shame the quality of the fish was excellent but the batter was not cooked and the chips could have done with another minute

Lovely new shop, great cod and chips here, staff all friendly. Parking can be a bit of an issue as it’s on the main road but otherwise great. Well worth a visit.

Drove 5 miles to get fish and chips from this place as it was recommended to me.

my wife and I had fish and chips from the new look Clarkes fish and chips. The chips were delicious and the batter was perfect, non greasy and very tasty. Best chippy in the area by far.

Brilliant service & great food, I really can’t fault it in any way. This is the only takeaway I go to now.

Visiting Willand again and went for my usual pea fritter and chips and it was closed. Having a refit and looks like new management. Will wait and see what happens!

Nice. Batter not soggy. Crisp, light. Chips like proper fish and chip shop chips. Staff nice and friendly. Prices not bad either.

Nueva a la zona y sólo ha sido una vez, pero el bacalao era buena y las patatas fritas bien, aunque un poco underdone para mi gusto. El chico detrás del mostrador era más divertida!

Este está situado detrás de la carretera en lo que casi parece un refugio antiaéreo. Esconde una tremenda chips. He visitado el pueblo varias veces, y cada visita tiene que incluir pescado y patatas fritas desde aquí. Mi favorito es el pea maltratada churro, pero...

Do NOT be put off by the exterior...it is a clean (5* council award) chippy, run by very nice people...

Buen servicio por el personal muy amable y eficiente. El pescado estaba perfectamente preparado y las patatas fritas eran excelentes. Justo lo que necesita desde su local "fish and chips"!
