Wildwood in Kingston upon Thames

Really good food, just a shame the padded seating is looking tatty in places.

Went to wild wood for Mothers day, there was 13 of us in total and it was very busy but we were really well looked after and the food was excellent.

Food was good but starters could have been a bit bigger, two pieces of focaccia were small. Service was fine, simple and direct. Only issue was that the tables are a bit close and the staff seemed to like to fill tables next to each other.

My husband took me here for Mothers day & we had a lovely time! only a few little things could of been tweaked for a 5 star review but the day was still nice. Our waitress wasn't clear on the Mothers day deal as it included a glass of prosecco but she didn't say that if we ordered any other drink that it takes the place of the "free" prosecco and our cutlery wasn't replenished after each course so we had to chase up the waitresses, which isn't the end of the world but just worth mentioning for the future. We both ordered the calamari for starters, my Husband had a pizza for main and I had the steak which were absolutely delicious! Cheesecake and tiramisu for dessert which again were very tasty! My Son had the kids sausage and fries with peas which went down a treat. Overall, great day with very lovely food and a good atmosphere!

I’ve had Wildwood before in a different location and never complained. Came to the Kingston one with friends and expected the same. The food took quite long considerijg it wasn’t busy at all, however it was good food. When it came to paying, we asked for student discount and after splitting the bill accordingly between us, me and my boyfriend ended up overpaying. My friends payed their amount and we were charged the same as them, which was about £15 more than what we were meant to get charged - it was like the waitress just charged us random numbers. We couldn’t complain about the situation due to having to hurry to get the last train (again, because the service took longer than expected). Will not visit this Wildwood again

On our walks around Kingston we came across this restaurant having been not been attracted with the run down Kingston Good Market. On entering a quiet restaurant we were escorted to the smallest table possible which was unexpected. On asking for a stool or chair to put my backpack I was met with a severe confused response. Surely I was not asking for anything out of the ordinary or possibly my travels to the East had presented more thoughtful aspects and experiences for the diner. Possibly the location of the restaurant there was a strong sewage, dank smell and could be attributed to being next to the muddy Thames River. On a positive note the loud jovial music should put any diner in a perky mood. My daughters Pizza was a good size and looked well made with enough cheese and crispy side with no super charred base that Zizzis and Pizza Express can take a lesson or two. One surprising thing is the cutlery provided steak knives. I certainly havens used steak Knives to cut pizza and it posed a challenge to not my daughter but myself. The serrated steak knives do not lend well to the crunchy sides especially as they solidify as time goes on with the meal. Either that I’m not experienced with Pizza and Steak knives or it is a strong hint at either eating quickly or to use my hands. Irrespective of which my experience left one feeling uninitiated. Finding myself peckish but not quite hungry I ordered some olives which were surprisingly good comparable with Prezzo Olives. The Americano was sufficiently disappointing for our American patrons being half a cup. The saucer seemed to have coffee grounds which indicated either butter fingers or unfamiliar coffee making process. It was certainly unexpected and disappointing from observing many flaws though Wildwood is not alone in this regard. That being said the coffee bean was interesting savoury and rich which was unexpected from the usual humdrum super bitter burnt mediocre coffee served at soo many coffee establishments that the locals here seem to like and accept. Suffice to say I wouldn’t visit this or other Wildwood anytime soon despite the pizza being quite good, nice olives and half a cup of americano. Possibly having experienced おもてなし omotenashi in Japan, Hong Kong’s prompt Customer Service which is attentive, accurate, polite & efficient and 待客之道 in China & Taiwan has shown us what great service is like and can be achieved. This has certainly set the bar far higher with what is being offered in eateries in and around the United Kingdom in terms of service but also the deliverable which is the product, the food.

Amazing pizza, friendly staff. Really recommend!

We had a nice lunch but we weren’t blown away by it sadly. Everything was just fine, the food, the wine, the service and the prices were a little higher than expected. It lacked atmosphere but a screaming child didn’t help matters either

Great food. I had a starter of cheese and onion garlic bread, and prawns, cant recall if we had a thied starter. Prawns were very fresh and cooked well ( sea flavour and not rubbery), my main was seafood pasta (again fresh well cooked) large portions, I had no room for pudding. My partner had risotto, which she said was v flavoursome (was unable to finish), 2 long island ice tea's. All came to about 70 pounds. Served the food with friendly staff no follow up or nagging. Only 2 tables occupied 8pm table. Overall a great, quick served, reasonable, tasty meal. Would visit again

The service was amazing and all of the staff were so lovely but the food was far below average for the price.

extremely overpriced for what you get, the food took way too long - about 45min the peri peri penne pasta was way too spicy to be nice :( the mushroom penne was way too mushroomy the pizza was a bit of a workout to eat

One of the best restaurants ever! Me and my friends visited on October and we got there 1 hour before they closed. Nonetheless, the server, Sagar, was absolutely quick to help us and was very kind to us! The food was absolutely amazing so definitely worth visiting! They also gave us a discount for being students which we couldn't appreciate more! Amazing food, amazing staff, amazing atmosphere. recommend 100%

We had Early Bird November: 3 course set menus for £24.95 per person and we choose salmon rillette, mushroom & buffalo mozzarella bruscheta, seafood linguine, chicken Romana and Pana cotta and cookies-chocolate cheesecake. Beautiful restaurant with a really delicious food, amazing atmosphere and great service. Our server was very knowledgeable and friendly. We would recommend Wildwood Kingston upon Thames at any time!

Absolutely amazing! The food was full of flavour, I know its not the best photo. The service was warm & welcoming. The pricing was reasonable for the high quality of ofood, service & drink.

I had only been here once before for a memorable cob salad so ordered it again and cleared my plate! Just one suggestion which I think would improve is to replace cheddar cheese with Italian like parmigiano flakes?

Saturday afternoon lunch time. Service was horrendous. A waitress took our order. She couldn't understand what we wanted as we tweaked our main dish slightly. Maybe a language barrier. Waitress was walking round the restaurant with a tray of 3 drinks asking every table if they're their drinks! She didn't come to us but it was obvious they were ours as when they did eventually turn up the ice was melting, leaving an inch of water in the glass. So we asked for new glasses. Starter came. Mains came..all wrong. Philly cheese steak sandwich. We specifically asked for just the steak, cheese & fried onion. They came with steak, fried onion & mayonnaise and it was cold anyway. She changed them after explaining to her about 3 times what we wanted. When we finished we were literally left sitting there for half an hour waiting to pay. We even got our coats on and still no one acknowledged us. A young waitress spotted us just sitting there looking around and got the bill for us. It wasn't as if it was extremely busy, anyway even if it was, the service should not be that bad.

We were served by Tania, she was amazing, friendly, chatty, and very good service.

We ordered a deliveroo at 9.20pm, and unfortunately when the driver arrived he dropped all our food on the floor due to the bag being ripped and soaked. The driver didn't want to help and left us with no food. I called the restaurant and explained what had happened and the manager Sagar was extremely helpful and remade us the food and even delivered it back to us using an uber. He was polite, calm, helpful and honestly the best customer service I have ever recieved in a very long time. He even called to ensure we recieved the food. I can not thank him enough, he is a true asset to the business and had saved us. I'm so grateful and would highly recommend this place with such a caring manager. Can I just add it was the tastiest meal we've ever had in a long time - we regularly order from wildwood and this was by far the best experience we have had. thank you Sagar. We appricate you.

Not really Italian style how they mentioned

The food here has a great variety, from grills to pasta to pizza and seafood/vegetarian options - there’s food for everyone! The drinks could have been a bit more chilled but also had a great variety. Dessert definitely topped it off! The cookies & cream cheesecake was my favourite. Considering we got a drink each, 2 starters to share, a main each and dessert each, all which totalled to approx £35pp (4 people), I’d say is very reasonable! Definitely left feeling full as well.

My review is entirely based on the 3 course lunch deal. Which is an amazing deal considering the food was great and decent portion sizes. Staff very friendly. If I was laying full price, I would give a 3.5 instead, as the food value is not as good

We went to the cinema and wanted a quick meal afterwards. We decided on this place. Big mistake. We ordered garlic bread to share. Okay fair some people don't like a lot of garlic but this garlic bread had hardly any garlic on it. He ordered a burger for his main and I had the lasagna. His burger was very very small, but the taste was nice. My main? My first lasagna was completely burned, why the chef sent it out I have no idea. So I asked for a new one. I would say 2 minutes later a new one came out with the waitress informing me that it was so bubbly because it was so hot. I've made enough lasgana's in my life and I do spent a lot of time in Italy - that is complete rubbish. On top of it this one was also part burned. Needless to say I sent that one back as well. The waitress asked if I wanted another one and I declined. She did say that she had spoken with her manager and we didn't have to pay for the lasagna - great stuff given the fact that both of them were inedible and sent back! I grabbed a burger at a different place on our way home.

We have visited Wildwood so many times over the last couple of years. My young sons love it and the kids' menu caters really well for them. Service is always good and the staff are great with kids. The food is generally very nice but it is a bit variable on occasions. However, if you want a good, wood fired pizza, this is a place to go.

All I can say is don’t waste your money. Food was dreadful and literally inedible, no atmosphere just awful when you want to treat your family out to a meal.

Good food options with plenty of choices for people with specific dietary needs. Good drinks and atmosphere, with plenty of seating to choose from.

My girlfriend and I visited this branch in the first few days of the New Year and suffered horrendous food poisoning. We ordered the half chicken and BBQ glaze ribs and the ribs arrived without the glaze. We we were not told this at time of ordering and the waiter just gave us several pots of Heinz BBQ sauce instead. A pretty poor show given the ribs were about £18 from memory, but we persevered with eating and we both sampled parts of each other's meals which was average to say the least. Fast forward to that night, my girlfriend was violently ill and I got ill over the following couple of days and we both took a week or so to get better. I raised it with customer services and after an 'independent investigation' they decided that it couldn't be proved it was from their food. It was a whitewash and basically customer services never sent me the report and I never had any contact from the people investigating so can only take Wildwood's version of events. As a victim and Wildwood the perpetrator it feels like they are the middle man with the court and I never was involved in the investigation and have to take their word for it that they couldn't prove one way or the other. I'm 100% convinced that Wildwood gave us food poisoning and will be raising with the council - the 3 out of 5 food hygiene rating I think backs up that their practices are far from perfect. The food looked quite sorry for itself and probably was left over from the quiet period between Christmas and New Year, perhaps our fault for being hungry and just accepting it, but we should be able to trust a restaurant to be fair. The customers services solution is to send vouchers to dine again with them, which I won't do as long as I live. Hopefully Kingston council will make sure this is thoroughly investigated.

Quick service but the beer was flat and the wine was horrible , ordered a burger but the bun was stale and overall not very nice at all wouldn’t go there to eat again , friendly waitress but not friendly management

Having left Wagamama next door because the staff were so incredibly rude, we walked into wildwood. Here we were greeted by an incredibly friendly and welcoming staff member. The food was good and reasonable priced. If you are down this end of town please don’t be tempted by Wagamama. Wildwood is the place to choose

We went here after a day of cinema and shopping and just wanted something relaxed and comfort. This place fully fitted the bill. The atmosphere is relaxed. Comfy seating. The service was friendly and spot on. And most importantly the food and our drinks were lovely. I had a pizza& salad salad and he had a burger and we both cleaned our plates. Will definitely visit again.

It was a mistake to disregard the poor reviews of this restaurant. We sat down when the place was still rather quiet but somehow got our food a lot later than other tables. When we raised our concerns with a member of staff, she was very unfriendly and difficult. (Borderline hostile, claiming that we made a mistake when we were ordering food). It was a simple misunderstanding and she could have handled it much better. The food was far below average for its price. The ribs were dry and there was barely any meat; You could honestly get better ones from Tesco for a fraction of the price. The buttermilk chicken burger was filled with a tub worth of mayo, the chicken was dry and tasteless, and I doubt it was buttermilk batter. The other items we ordered, including the calamari, the risotto, and the carbonara were all below satisfaction. TL;DR - Bad service, bad food, would not recommend.

After waiting ages to get served I was looking forward to a nice spaghetti bolognese To find out in a pizza pasta restaurant they had no bolognese sauce This tells me one of two things either they order there sauce in which is what a takeaway shop would do or the chef is incompetent and hadn’t got the sauce ready for service.

I discovered Wildwood restaurant purely by chance. After my first visit, l was so impressed by the welcome, the food and the bill, that I decided l would go there again. The menu is very imaginative, and there is sure to be something in there for even the most discerning of customers. Wildwood is unpretentious, and just serves lovely food and wine at very competitive prices. I can heartily recommend the Piri-Piri Chicken Penne, which will have you crying out for more:). I should add that Maria, the manageress, made me feel really welcome. Bravo!

Had a wonderful dinner with my best friend Saturday night. We loved the arancini antipasto and wildwood pizzas. Even if the place was busy the staff was friendly and took good care of us. We will definitely be back!

Come to Kingston every few months and often looked here while waiting for bus. Today had sufficient time to eat before travelling and at last went in. We'll worth it. Ordered off the express menu and expected smaller portions, but not so. 4 choices of...

I am very suprised with those good comments. Pizzas are very average. We ordered two different, one is very salty the other is very sweety due to caramelized onion. For sure it is written on the menu but I was not expecting that much sugar. Definitely not recommended.

Could order the super food salad as the didn’t have ingredients at lunch time!!! So ordered two Cobb salads. It was ok, but the chicken was like leather, so over cooked. I spoke to our waitress who said this is how we cook it... ok...

Good food and attention to detail of what was on menu good. Slightly over cooked meat but still nice. Great choice for food with the other half or a group gathering. Not over priced and staff very polite.

We had pizza delivered from Wildwood by Uber Eats. It arrived incredibly fast, was piping hot, absolutely delicious and really good value with a 2 for 1 offer on a Monday evening.

Excellent and delightful food, I liked the ambience the spot has, and the cashiers were friendly. I will surely come back in the future.

Unfortunately, one of those days when service and food wasn't good and I can only assume that they're low on staff probably due to Covid. Didn't have the heart to complain about the very overcooked dry food. Ah well, fingers cross for the next visit.

Careful with what you order! Apparently, if you ask them to make something vegan all they will do is take the dairy out. If you were hoping they would swap meat for meat substitutes you would be wrong. Staff not very understanding of this either and were quite dismissive. It wasn't a bit issue for me but other people might have become ill with such experience.

The food is constantly fresh and tasty, employees gives good customer service. I really like how neat it is and mood. Will visit here again.

Nice place to eat and really cheap prices

Had a lovely luch with my flatmate. The place was covid secure with all measures in place wich was very reassuring. The food was delicious and the stuff really welcoming and friendly. We are definitely going to be back!

Calzone was pretty good but Carbonara I had here was totally a waste of money. It was very watery and it was almost soup not pasta. But it might be a bit different next visit. They are doing extended eat out help out so if you want italian for good price visit here.
