Al Forno in Kingston upon Thames

This was a big Christmas booking so I will cut them some slack just for the sheer volume of us. The meatballs were tasty but it would have been nice to have some garnish, maybe a piece of bread, rather then just some balls and sauce plonked in a bowl. The spaghetti was full of seafood and had lots of flavour. The staff were very friendly and we were able to push the chairs back and have a dance.

Strikes me as a reliable Italian place for the locals. Serves all of the classics, prices are average for the area, and the house wine is lovely. Service wasn't amazing but they had a couple of large groups being distracting.

Food took wayyyy too long admittedly we had a group attending for a Xmas party but the restaurant knew this. Starters at 7.30 and mains at 9.45. Come on.

The best calamari starter and spaghetti vongole main ever. Recommended 5+ Whoever writes the contrary deserves pizza express or McDonald's meals.

Unfortunately our experience was not a good one. We were sat right on top of where the singer was, and the speaker blared into our ear shot. It reminded me of someone who was up doing karaoke hogging the mic. We couldn't hear ourselves think, and a couple of us just wanted the night to end. We asked to be moved to have our desert, but by then we were just fed up and exhausted by the blaring music. Food was ok.

Great atmosphere for a Christmas party

Just been here with my brother. We both had pizzas and shared fries. I was very impressed with my margarita it was delicious and the fries were extremely tasty. Also good speedy service with friendly staff. I would recommend!

They gave me friend and I pannacottas that weren't set and served in a bowl. The looked like yoghurt. If I wanted a yoghurt I would eat one at home. Awful.

I don’t know how I can do this place justice, just please go, you will not be disappointed. Me and my friends were wanting some pizza and we had multiple options in the area, but we opted for Al Forno since it seemed more authentic and had the real Italian style pizzas. We definitely got what we were looking for in that sense but what we were not expecting was the beautiful, cozy and homely atmosphere and warm and friendly hospitality. The people who served us were lovely and genuine, doing everything they can to make our experience a great one.

They pretend to sell 8 hour marinated bolonase that is actually tesco microwave meal, place also needs a real clean. Imagine, I only eat Tesco bolognese and I nearly threw up

Went to Al Forno for a team gathering and we were all so pleased with the whole experience. Staff was kind and attentive, atmosphere was cosy and relaxed and, of course, the food was amazing! Fabio, the owner, brought the experience to the next level with an ad-hoc fresh fish starter that was the prelude for an amazing "pasta allo scoglio". Thank you guys! A disappointing visit to a restaurant I always used to like. The menu has been streamlined resulting in very limited food choice- some of our regular dishes not offered anymore. A one page menu, only. There was no lasagna - ran out, I suppose- which two of us ordered. No tricolore starter salad on the menu , but the did serve us this at a pretty hefty £13.50 per portion! We ordered the second cheapest wine on the menu, it was still £29. The bill came and an extra bottle had been added to it, which we didn’t have. Luckily we spotted it. This restaurant used to be one of our favourites, but with very limited . A standard pizza / pasta two course dinner ( none of us had steak or fish) came to £60 per person. We will be hard pushed to return there in a hurry.

Heard a lot of good things about al forno but was a bit disappointed. The menu doesn't have much of a variety of food & the portion size is small! Usually there music & dancing that happens but not this time maybe it's only on Fridays I don't know. Food was okay

Absolutely 10/10! By far, the best Italian restaurant I’ve ever experienced in the UK. We were invited by Italian friends for dinner, which added an authentic touch to our evening. The restaurant is beautifully located by the river, which adds a picturesque charm to the entire dining experience. For starters, my husband and I ordered the *Frito di Calamari*. The dish was mind-blowing — perfectly fried calamari and zucchini served with a delicious tartare sauce. The squid rings were tender, not chewy, which made it a standout dish. For our mains, we opted for the *Al Forno Pizza* and the *Spaghettoni al Cartoccio*. The pizza was split into two halves, one featuring smoked mozzarella with turnip greens and sausage, and the other half being tomato-based with ham and mozzarella. Both halves were undeniably delicious and full of rich, authentic flavors. To finish, we were persuaded by our friends to try their handmade gelatos, and I must say, they were the best I’ve ever had. We tried the pistachio and chocolate flavors, and while I’m usually not a fan of chocolate ice cream, this one was exceptional. It had a smooth texture, wasn’t overly sweet, and was simply irresistible. The service was fantastic, with friendly and helpful servers who made the experience even more enjoyable. Overall, a 10/10 dining experience! Highly recommended for anyone looking for authentic Italian food in a lovely setting.

Visited Al Forno yesterday with 3 friends, we had a great time. There was so much variety of food on the menu and what we ordered tasted amazing. The staff were so friendly and welcoming and we will definitely be visiting again soon!

I strongly recommend this restaurant to those who love authentic Italian food. The Napoletan pizza is fantastic. I also am a big of the gelato shop next door, everyday there are new flavours.

The food was quite nice but the service ranks as one of the worst I have ever experienced. It felt like we were not supposed to be there. I had to ask the waiter if there was a problem because both he and his colleague were extremely rude. My wife’s plate was literally thrown onto the table. Perhaps that’s part of the intended experience. It was our second time dining at this restaurant and our first experience was not too dissimilar. Sadly this was the last time.

Just like a second family for me, food is genuine and taste of italy, 101% recommended! On a summer day is ideal, just next to the riverside, you can have a great meal and enjoy gelato too!!

This place is the most italian and authentic than anywhere we’ve ever been to in London . We traveled 40 miles especially to come and enjoy the fantastic service and the lovely food that they serve. Thank you very much for your hospitality and warm welcome.

Entering the "Al Forno" restaurant the first thing you notice is the friendliness of the staff. Mr. Pietro pampered us in every way, gave useful information and practical advice on travel. The first courses are truly delicious and the pizza was much appreciated by our son. We recommend it.

I don’t know why they changed the recipe, but the taste wasn't as good as it used to be. I ordered the prosciutto and Quattro formaggi, and both lacked tomatoes, featuring only cheese..

I used to come here all the time and I loved it but the last time I ordered a pizza to take away and once was ready we asked if they could please cut it. The chef was so rude, like we asked for a huge favour and on top of that he made the wrong pizza!!! It was genuinely disappointing.

We booked this place as we had recommendations from friends. We booked it for our wedding anniversary lunch and were really looking forward to it. The food was ok but service was great but it was expensive for what it was and could have had a lunch at our favourite restaurant up in London. It was a disappointing experience and we wont be going back, at least, not for a special meal.

Cozy place, furnished with wood-style furniture, very characteristic and nice at eyes. The location in front of the Thames is a nice plus in the sunny days. And perfect for a walk after lunch. Tasty fish dishes and good quality Neapolitan-style pizza. Really well-cooked and quality pasta. Carbonara, to be reviewed. Linguine allo scoglio, delicious. Tartufo al pistacchio amazing. Good ice cream. Portions in the norm and medium-high prices. Welcoming, cheerful and kind service in a fully Italian style; you will have your time to enjoy the dishes calmly. Recommended.

not a great restaurant. The menu is worse compared to other Alforno locations ( for example the new Malden restaurant . The protons are also much smaller than other alforno restaurants . I have been here twice and both times didn’t enjoy it . The food was alright however the hospitality is beyond poor . The staff are rude , slow and make u not want to return . The aldrin’s in new Malden is much better and I highly recommend that instead

I loved Al forno when I moved to Kingston from Italy. Anytime when I wish to eat Italian food , especially pizza, im going straight away there .

We went last night for the swing music which is on once a month. Absolutely fabulous night. Entertainment brilliant . Would definitely return. Ambience lovely. Set menu was delicious . would have liked bread sticks or French bread but all in all was worth it even though it was expensive.

Food was ok service very slow . Had to keep asking for drinks ,food came at different times some food did not arrive had to call waiters to ask where the items were . THEY Should not charge a service fee staff not attentive enough to deserve a service fee

I thought the service was great. The portion of olives was generous and so were the pizza toppings. Overall a very pleasant experience.

Great Italian restaurant. Very good food. Did an excellent Valentine's evening.

Service was prompt and good. Lots on the menu for even the fussiest of the group. I went for the fregoli which was very nice, although a bit on the small side. It was flavourful though and something a bit different, so I'm glad I went for it. My bf had a clazone which was very big but at nearly £30 it really should have been! He enjoyed it (I ate some of the crust too) although I think it was a tad burnt in places. The 'small' pizzas some other ordered were not small (more regular size) and everyone seemed to enjoy it. Not a massive fan of the house white, but it was ok and went with the food. Overall the food was tasty but not exceptional (way better than the usual chain places, you can tell all the mains were freshly made). I would come back for a special occasion because decor really is lovely and you don't feel rushed through your meal.

Booked for valentines day and paid a deposit per head. There was advertisement about live music which sounded enticing. Firstly, when we got there, there was a queue with about 10 other people ahead of us waiting to be seated- im not sure why this was the case given that I could see multiple free tables inside and that everyone had a booking for this "valentines day special" so there shouldnt be any issue with lack of seating or a delay. Our booking was at 7:45 pm and we were still waiting outside in the cold to be seated at 8:15. I am really not sure why we had to wait nearly half an hour outside to be seated for a restuarant we had booked a table for??! When we arrived inside, there was no apologies for the wait or acknowledgement. We were sat on a rubbish table. Dont even get me started on the decor and atmosphere. My husband and I were so unimpressed that as soon as we sat down, we decided to just leave despite losing our deposit.

The overriding feeling in this place is one of complacency. We were barely acknowledged on arrival with male staff chatting amongst themselves. One young lady who was lovely eventually acknowledged us. The food was ok but nothing more than bog standard fare. Some of it was ridiculously overpriced. One wafer thin slice of salmon measuring about 5 inches on an equally thin piece of bread was serves as a starter and cost £10 inc service. It was gone in 3 bites! A small portion of veg, which should really be included with the main course cost and extra £6. The ingredients probably cost less than 50p. Excluding them from main courses and obliging you to order them separately is just a money making exercise. Shame! There are so many better places in Wimbledon and this one is only for the gullible or clueless I’m afraid.

Al Forno Restaurant Italian Heaven !!

Great authentic Italian. One of our go-to restaurants for everything from special occasion to after-shopping refueling.

I would highly recommend Al forno if you are nearby. I am not local and ended up on this gorgeous restaurant after reading some excellent reviews and Al forno didn't disappoint. The food is delicious, hand made italian cuisine. Staff is very attentive and will provide an individualised and detailed service. I would definitely go back when I am next in Kingston. Al forno thank you very much for making my graduation day even better.

Excellent for gluten free options as pizza available as well as the pasta. Few seats with riverside views at the front too

Unfortunately there was only one thing on the menu I could eat because there's lots of things I can't eat but I enjoyed my salmon and my friend enjoyed her sea food pasta.

When I wasled in it was a very nice atmosphere.I ordered 2 sanpallagenro and I got 2 sprites.I then Had to wait over 45 minutes for 2 pizzas.The pizza was very filling. I then went to the bathroom amd there were people yelling in italian for 5 months straight and laughing in the bathroom. I realised it was two staff. I ordered desert and they forgot about my order so I has to remind them twice. I would not go back again.

Really authentic Italian restaurant, fabulous pizza and a varied menu. Service was exceptional. Shame it's not closer to home.
