We had a fantastic experience at The Italian Taste. Celebrated my Dad's 70th birthday and the team did everything they could to make the evening special. Thank you to Kate who was our waitress. She was wonderful ❤️.

The Italian restaurant you are looking for! Welcoming, personal and comfortable. And the food is great! No matter if you order pizza, pasta or pastry, it tastes like la nonna has been cooking. Thank you for this experience! I wish this restaurant was in my hometown.

We had mussels and garlic mozzarella bread for starter, and as a main course we had a seafood pasta, and pasta with sausage and Gorgonzola sauce. Food was fantastic, really tasty and decent portions. But for our liking the service was too slow. We’ve been served drinks quite quick but we had to wait for about 15 minutes to order dinner. And we had to wait quite long for a starter and a main course. Saying that it was quite busy and we do understand that it takes longer, but we’d expect the order to be taken quicker.

This is a lovely local Italian with a warm, friendly family working there and managing it. Beautifully styled restaurant. The only disappointment and negative is there are very few vegetarian options. For an Italian I would expect half of pasta options to be vegetarian as I know I get this in Italy. I think the only option is pasta arrabiata. It’s a shame they don’t offer more varieties of sauces say pomodoro with aubergine or zucchini. The classic and much loved creamy Cacio e Pepe. Linguine with truffles. Gnocchi blue cheee sauce. I hope they update their menu with more veggie options soon as it’s not reflective of how many people are not eating meat/ fish right now. Thanks!

My dining experience at this restaurant was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment I walked in, I was enveloped by the warm, welcoming atmosphere, and the staff’s hospitality truly made me feel at home. As a Muslim with specific dietary requirements, I initially worried about my options, but the staff and the chef's thoughtful suggestions quickly put me at ease. The penne verde pasta I ordered was a revelation—rich, creamy, and bursting with flavor. Every bite was satisfying, leaving me completely full yet yearning for more. And just when I thought it couldn't get any better, I indulged in their crème brûlée. The sheer joy of cracking through its delicate caramelized shell to reveal the luscious vanilla custard inside was an experience I'll never forget. If you're looking for a memorable dining experience, I wholeheartedly recommend this place. The dedication and care from the staff elevate it to something truly special. For me, it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and I can’t praise the employees enough for making it so.

Lovely traditional Italian cooking very friendly helpful staff.

We visited on Sat 20th July for our wedding anniversary. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough, from the friendly welcome when we arrived, the service was excellent, and the food was divine. My sea bass main course was fantastic. There is a very extensive menu and a great atmosphere in the restaurant. We look forward to visiting again soon.

I’m so annoyed at myself for not visiting Italian Taste sooner, especially only living 5 minutes away. The lovely staff were so welcoming and accommodating, the food and service were impeccable, the atmosphere was perfect and I can honestly say, I’ll be returning very soon. Thank you all at Italian Taste for the lovely evening, we will be back!

Hidden gem . Food was outstanding , particularly the crab starter . Service was first class , particularly Cleopatra who makes you feel special and welcome .

Such a wonderful long time restaurant on the Surbiton scene, stopped by quite late last night but the owner kindly gave us a table. I had the wonderful spicy prawns followed by the veal saltimbocca. Absolutely delicious. Would return a hundred times. Grazie mille!

Visited last night for the first time. The waitresses were lovely, I was recommended the lamb shank off the specials and it was fantastic. Will definitely return and would 100% recommend.

I cannot speak more highly for this lovely friendly restaurant. My friend and I had a very warm welcome. I had the sea bass for my main course. It was so delicious and presented very well. My friend has the lasagne and a tomato and onion salad. The selection of desserts made it very hard to choose. The atmosphere and background music was just right. I will certainly be going there again.

We went for lunch go this charming Italian restaurant in Surbiton and had a fantastic meal. The staff in here are very friendly and helpful and add to the lovely food, in making this a great place to eat. We started with perfectly cooked scallops sitting on a bed of risotto flavoured with smoky pancetta, a real explosion of amazing flavours. The other starter of bread stuffed with mozzarella fried and served with parmesan cheese tomato sauce was very tasty. The mains were an excellent linguini Marinara packed with king prawns, squid, clams and mussels in a rich tomato sauce and penne pasta with Italian sausage in a gorgonzola cream sauce which was rich and mouthwatering. The whole experience was relaxing and every dish delivered on point. We will be going back many times

Really nice place in Surbiton, which I have walked by plenty of times. Food was great and service was friendly and fast. They were fully booked and had to turn people away so do book in advance!

It’s great that Surbiton has this family run restaurant. Alida and her team really have raised the levels. Gamberoni Vesuvio (sp?) is a winner and the rib eye was one of the best I’ve eaten. A must go ….

The Italian Taste has now become my family's favourite and regular choice of restaurant. The food is delicious and reasonably price. The staff are very welcoming and attentive.

Alida is a lovely lady as are her staff, beautiful restaurant, beautiful atmosphere. Be sure to pay them a visit if you live in the area or are visiting.

the food was alright tasting but served in small portions and over pirced. The service was alright but waiter looked like he didn't want to be here. Atmosphere was also alright but the tables were really close together and felt like i was being cramped into my seat

Absolutely delicious, every bite was sublime! The staff were friendly and the service quick and professional. The highlight for me was the fried chicken and spaghetti, and the tiramisu. Cooked to perfection and the portions are generous. If you're in Surbiton and looking for Italian food, this is the place.

What a fabulous restaurant, it is the best italian food I have ever tasted .The family team are just fabulous that deserve every success. This was one of those occasions that was memorable, do not miss this superb restaurant.

The foods good for sure. But they spoilt it so badly for us in the end by constantly pointing at their watch to us. We were literally an hour into the meal. We were never informed that the table was only provided for that limited time. At least make it clear in advance. Pointing at the watch felt like being scolded in school. So sorry, but we don’t pay so much for this- not in this country.

Wide range of classic Italian dishes. Reasonably spacious and, on hot summer days has windows open on the high street.

Food, atmosphere and service are always superb. It is a little expensive, but you know that before you go, so I can't complain. Would definitely recommend.

The food is delicious as it is, but the service makes this place even better. The staff, particularly the manager, are always welcoming and friendly and take time to speak to us and ask how we're doing. We've never had a problem with an order, and everything comes out in good time. Sadly we've never tried the desserts because we're always too full by then!

We’ve been several times before but always get great service and lovely food. Staff remember you from previous visits and are so kind towards my mother-in-law wh is currently 88 years old and finds going out quite an effort. You are not hurried to vacate the table which is great. They have a lovely selection of Italian wines too. Definitely recommend a visit.

Love this restaurant. Staff are always welcoming. The food is delicious and service is fab. Favourite dish is the chicken risotto.

It’s a good sign when the restaurant is nearly full at 6.45 on a Thursday evening! Luckily they did squeeze my wife and me in. Others that hadn’t booked weren’t so lucky. The scallops and then the prawn dish were first class. It’s pricey but worth it. All run under the expert hands of Alida.

Highly recommended this lovely restaurant...the food is amazing and plenty of it...staff are very friendly and efficient.

So often Italian restaurant means pizza or pasta only, but we were delighted with the other choices for our lunch. I ordered two dishes from the specials of the day, both needed careful cooking and I wasn't disappointed. Perfectly cooked scallops on a delicious risotto followed by Calves Liver with creamed potatoes and vegetables and a lovely gravy. The liver was perfect, browned on the outside but tender and pink inside, this chef knows their business. Chris had an enormous starter of goats cheese and mediterranean veg followed by a big plate of salmon & pasta, full of flavour. We were very full but managed to share a chocolate cake from heaven even so. Portions were generous and we could have happily managed without the starters or just eating a starter and dessert. The restaurant is stylish and comfortable and the service is excellent. The Sangiovese by the glass was very drinkable. We had 2 generous glasses of wine and a vodka and mixer, and I think the cost including service was around £100. These days, considering we ordered the higher priced mains, felt very fair. I am so happy to support good restaurants like this in these difficult times. Leave enough time to find a parking space.

What a hidden gem. Recently changed management and now a family run Italian Taste restaurant it offers authentic, amazing Italian cuisine within a lovely atmospheric setting. Can’t fault the food or service. Highly recommend, remember to book!

Lovely atmosphere. Pasta was delicious. Good portions. Waitress was fabulous. However, I think the egg on the pizza should have had a runny middle and the caprese salad stated avocado on the menu but this was missing.

By far my most favourite place to dine in Surbiton. I've been going for a couple of years now, the food is always on point, and because of Alida and her wonderful staff there's always an awesome atmosphere.
