The Italian Taste in Kingston upon Thames

Once again the Italian taste was a great evening out. Food was fresh and the staff were very warm and welcoming.

It was our first time back in the Italian Taste since lockdown and since Achiles, the old owners’ retirement. We wondered if the standard would be as high as it used to be? We needn’t have worried. It was superb. I had the prawn starter and my wife had the sardines. Both were extremely tasty. The lightly toasted bread was a great accompaniment for moping up the delicious sauce with the prawns. The beef medaglione main with creamy mash potatoes was stunning, the beef was like melting butter, but although very tasty my wife’s penne Verdi wasn’t really as creamy as expected - the only slight disappointment all night. For desert my wife had a lovely refreshing lemon tart and I had a cheeseboard which was fairly large, which made a change from some that you can get nowadays! The bottle of Syrah Cantine Pellegrino was also lovely and well worth a try. Too add to a great evening the service from the lovely and wonderfully named Cleopatra was excellent, knowledgeable and fun, and along with the owner Alida being so welcoming it made for superb night.

Both the service and food were excellent. The waitress was friendly and helpful. We sat in the small garden which was intimate and atmospheric. The smoked salmon starter was ample and the main course sea bass excellent.

Best experience!! Served by the lovely Cleopatra, very welcoming and friendly, made sure you felt at home from the first step in the door. Great food would definitely return! Thank you - shonah and chef Charlie

We had a fabulous experience at the Italian Taste. The food was the best Italian food I had in a long time. I can’t thank the staff Enough for making our night special. They were super attentive and friendly. A fabulous experience overall! Alisa and Cleo were the starts of the night.

We often get our takeaway from here during the lockdown. Delicious food, friendly staff and quick service. Calamari is a favourite!

What a lovely restaurant from start to finish and a rare independent treasure in Surbiton! I have been multiple times both with government guidelines and in 'normal circumstance and have had a fantastic food and service!

Found by accident, exceptional food and exceptional service... we had the beef and swordfish and it was absolutely delicious... looking forward to being regular customers ❤️

I have only visited the Italian Taste since September this year and I have been back 4 times since! The range of food is exquisite and I enjoy trying a new dish each time. All staff are so friendly and take time to make sure everything is perfect for you. I am so glad they are offering a delivery service during lockdown!

We discovered this gem of a restaurant recently and have been back many times. The food and service is outstanding. Highly recommended.

We were visiting the area and booked here based on reviews on Trip Advisor. We weren't disappointed. Fantastic food, friendly and professional staff. Would come back again if we're in the area.

We went here last night for a date night. We were greeted enthusiastically and were sat at one of the round window tables. The entire evening was spot on and lovely. The waitress was cheerful, very attentive, very knowledgeable and knew when to come over and when to leave us alone. The food was very tasty. We shared a garlic bread as a starter (heads up - they were not messing about when they said garlic!). I had the Vitello Milanese; two good sized cuts of breaded veal and a rather large amount of spaghetti (I have had smaller portions in other restaurants when I just ordered pasta as a main). The veal was tender, the breaded crust wasn't overdone and the pasta was tasty. He had the Medaglione Alla Diana: most definetly a must for someone who doesn't eat pasta and not a huge pizza fan. The meat was cooked perfectly. It was moist, had a lot of flavour, good portion size. The mash was creamy yet still firm and the sauce and beans complemented it all.. We shared a bottle of wine and to my happy surprise they also do sell Frangelico which needless to say I had a glass of and was a very happy camper afterwards. This was my first time here, despite having walked past this place for the last 3 years or so, and we will definitely be coming back.

We decided last minute to book a table as we saw the sign saying that we could dine in the garden. This was our first time visiting since it has been taken over by new owners - delicious food, amazing wine, gorgeous little garden, outstanding service. We will 100% be going back regularly - especially now we know about the garden! Highly highly recommend to anyone looking for a fantastic authentic italian meal in surbiton.

Amazing Tuesday dinner at Italian taste. An authentic experience with amazing staff and perfect wine. The dishes were plentiful and service was very good. Will definitely be revisiting.

This was our first meal after lockdown and as l am vulnerable l was a little bit wary. I had absolutely no reason to be at all. All the staff wore masks. There was hand sanitiser as you walked in the door. They wiped down menu's and tables & chairs as people left. If someone came out of they toilets, a member of staff cleaned them.The food was lovely, the staff very friendly and accommodating and we were made to feel very special. I will definitely be returning and will definitely be recommending the Italian Taste to all my friends. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Alida was very friendly and helpful when I placed our order. We were so pleased with our choice of takeaway to celebrate my husband's Birthday. We ordered the lamb and the duck and were really pleased with our choices, quality meat with delicious sauces and all the lovely fresh vegetables with it. We also recommend the Tiramisu for dessert. The perfect way to finish off the celebration of his Birthday when there is no way, under the circumstances, to physically visit a restaurant.

We ordered a fantastic takeaway meal for a birthday celebration, the food and friendly service was faultless. The quality of the food was incredible, so fresh and tasty, I can’t wait until we can visit the restaurant when it re-opens. The sea bass, duck and chicken risotto where gorgeous, the kids loved their pasta dishes (they had a starter size which is a generous portion), empty plates all round. Would 100% recommend and will order again soon.

I reviewed this place previously, before coronavirus. It has always been a wonderful restaurant and I look forward to it reopening, but in the meantime I want to say what a brilliant job they’re doing running the takeaway and delivery service in such trying times. The team are always incredibly friendly, the food is top quality - our kids LOVE the pizzas (as do we). I’m glad we can support a brilliant, local independent business, and enjoy great food at the same time.

We have ordered from The Italian Taste twice since lockdown began and we were impressed on both occasions. The food arrived promptly, most importantly hot and was absolutely delicious. The first order was simply pizza but probably the best take away pizza we have ever had. The second time, we ordered some chicken dishes, one with a cream and asparagus sauce, which was amazing!! The food is plentiful and cooked really well. It will be great when we can actually visit the restaurant again but in the meantime, their take away is the next best thing.

I’ve ordered twice from them during lockdown. Really good quality and impressively still hot. This time I had the bruschetta which I feared would be soggy but it wasn’t, it was excellent. The Penne Amatriciana was really tasty and the advantage of delivery meant I got to have a second meal for lunch the next day! Really good experience and looking forward to being back in the restaurant soon.

Ordered a meal for two from the Italian taste, brilliant service, super polite and appreciative, delivered food 25 minutes later and it was amazing. If you live within 3 miles I would strongly recommend it!! You won’t regret it!!

Ordered a meal (more than pizza) from the Italian Taste to be delivered home during the Covid-19 lockdown, didn’t know what to expect. It was superb & delivered on time. We have to help local businesses where we can or they won’t be there after the pandemic & we will certainly order another meal if they can keep this delivery service going.

We have been going to this restaurant for many years. It has changed hands and it was noticeable from the moment we arrived. Decor does look fresh. Living off the same name the menu is much more expensive, no frills such as bread or limoncello after your meal. Rude waitresses who dig around your meal twice with your cutlery when you complain your wish is bland. Our waitress argued with me when I said the mussels were small and the dish didn't have a tomato sauce. She pushed my dinner around with my cutlery saying that although my mussels were small my prawns were big! Not a good experience and its a massive shame. They really should change their name as they are getting customers expecting the service and quality of the 'Italian Taste' and they won't get this. Expensive, poor quality, poor waitress service who then questions why we didn't want to pay the service charge. She even said it was ok digging around in my dinner as she had used my own knife and fork.

New owners have re-energised this restaurant. Service really efficient and fun. Really enjoyed the food, as did my guests. Definitely returning!

We ate here last week. It's under new ownership. We,vie been going here for years and feared the worst. The welcome was great. The food excellent. All freshly sourced. The only thing frozen is the ice-cream. I didn't like the veggie option. They kindly made me another veggie meal. They offer a good selection of wines. Well worth a visit and we'll definitely be back.

We've been regulars here for years, so were a little wary about the place coming under new ownership late 2019.

We dined here for the first time on Friday night, and were more than surprised at the quality of the cuisine.

This restaurant has played a large part of my family’s life over the years so I was anxious with the change of ownership. I needn’t have been. The food is better than good. The refurbishment is tasteful but still is comfortable (thank you for the heating).

The restaurant has had a wonderful renovation, making it clean and fresh. The staff are friendly and the food is fabulous, with a reasonable wine list. It is certainly not cheap, but not expensive either. I was brought a different dish than I ordered, but the manager was courteous and promptly ensured I got what I asked for. Most of the better restaurants in Surbiton are on Grove Rd, so it is really good to have at least one on Victoria Road.

We’ve always loved this restaurant for family nights out. It’s under new management now and the new owners are doing a great job. They’ve given the place a bit of a makeover and smartened it up a little, but the food is as good as ever - our girls loved their pizzas. Great pasta dishes and a good wine list too. The atmosphere remains wonderfully relaxed and the staff are really friendly and welcoming. It’s sometimes a worry when a favourite place changes hands, but I’m really pleased the Italian Taste appears to be going from strength to strength.

We have been eating at this restaurant for the last few years. We booked this evening to celebrate a birthday. Our table was booked for 6.30 and I did think we were being a little rushed. At 8 pm we were asked to hurry up as the table was booked. I have never been asked to leave a restaurant before and was shocked. Under the previous management the food was great, you felt welcome and valued and were NEVER asked to leave. Needless to say I shall never return and will make sure my friends hear of our experience.

I want to start off by saying that the staff at this restaurant made me feel extremely welcome and were so attentive to my needs. They really pay attention to detail and are extremely hard working, as well as putting their all into making my night special and for this I couldn’t recommend this place enough! The food I ordered was absolutely delicious, hot on delivery and well worth the price as the portion was generous. The vibes here are lovely and perfect for lunch and dinner for any occasion, I will definitely be returning and telling all of my friends about this place as it is 100% worth travelling for. Thank you to the amazing staff and dedicated manager for giving me such a good experience, this is what true restaurants should offer!

The owner/waiter/maitre'd was a hoot. She has a hands on approach to her restaurant and nothing gets out of that kitchen without her approval. The food was great, service better, a great option for Surbiton for a well prepared, well served meal.

Happy to see the new management has made new changes on the restaurant looks and also the menu has got a variety of tasty food! We had a lovely dinner tonight and we are going back there for sure! Good service and good food.

My Wife's Pasta and my Pizza were very good. But the Calamari??? Three Medium sized Squid Rings for £8.95. Very disappointing, having just returned from Spain. Also the bare walls make the conversation very difficult.

We went to 'The Italian taste' for New years eve for a family meal. The owner was very attentive and friendly nothing was too much trouble for them.

What a wonderful place! Food, authenticity,warm family atmosphere.. The best Italian food I have eaten!My children loved their food and been asking to take them again.The new owners were amazing very friendly.Will definitely recommend this restaurant and be back again.

My wife and I decided late to go out on News Years Eve. We decided on this restaurant having used it before.

We booked for lunch 2 couples and a 3 year old. Food was great and service was attentive and friendly. They were very accommodating to our young daughter and a vegan adult. Cant wait to come again.

I visited Italian Taste last minute yesterday as Pizza express cancelled my booking (which I’d booked as there was 9 of us and normally always accommodating) called at 12pm and they managed to squeeze the 9 us in at 5:30 which was perfect as we had young children with us. The lady I spoke to asked if it was a special occasion which it was, it was my birthday. When I turned up at the restaurant they had decorated the table which was a lovely touch, the staff were attentive and food was amazing. All of my family said what a lovely meal it was. Will def be going back!

Jury out with new owners After two decades under Achille and Isabella new owners have taken over. Mixed reviews since then and I’m not certain we will return.

Suzanne decided to take me to T.I.T. for my birthday. She had been there a few weeks before with her best friend Jane & had a lovely dinner there. That's about the best thing I can say in this review! Arriving at about 7.10pm our friends were already seated so began birthday greetings. I managed to get the waitresses attention for a Peroni which arrived fairly quickly. Mark & the girls already had a drink. That was the best service of the night. Menus handed out & a bottle of wine ordered. By 7.50pm we were still waiting for the wine & just past 8pm we were feeling a little neglected by the staff & after some minutes trying catch the eye of a staff member we beckoned one of them to mention that we were ready to order our food. I don't think there's ever been an occasion in a restaurant where I've had to get someone's attention to order food after such a long period of waiting? Anyhow, food ordered, wine arrived at about 8.15pm! By this time we were pretty hungry. So conversation kept us going for another 25 minutes before three dishes appeared. My dish not one of them. Another 5 minutes or so passed before my pasta dish arrived. I held out my assisting hands for the dish & immediately my attention was drawn to a cold plate? Curling my first forkful of pasta I was disappointed to find the pasta was quite tepid & I knew it would not take long for it to become cold. Why is it always my food?? I always seem to draw the cold dinner! This is when I started to get a little agitated. The inattentive staff were just impossible to engage! After a couple of minutes I got up out of my seat & approached the bar area. My dish was taken away with an apology. So, with my friends almost half way through their meals my pasta arrived (hot) after another 5 minutes had passed. My food was very good but my appetite started to wane as Suzanne & friends were finished with their plates. They ended up watching me eat my dinner. We were now at about 9.15pm. I didn't finish my dinner. I left about half of my spaghetti but made sure I devoured every clam. Another bottle of wine arriving we managed to order desserts. Not really a dessert person I watched the others eat theirs. I ordered coffee. As me & Mark chatted away the girls split the bill. I think the bill was about £80 a couple. Suzanne & friends had a salmon dish each. I think me & Suzanne shared a starter. Mark had a starter but Jane didn't. Drinks were 2 bottles of £25 - £30wine, 2 prosecco's, 2 Peroni's. I asked Suzanne if they had charged for my dinner which they had. No freebie aperitifs! It was now 3 hours since we first arrived! I mentioned to the waitress how I was surprised that they had charged for my dinner & I got a strained apology. Not that I expect a royal reception but at no point was there any acknowledgment of it being my birthday. No special treatment. The week before, at The Elderflower Restaurant in Lymington, all the staff had signed a birthday card for me!! At the least at Positano's on Ewell Road (our favourite restaurant) the staff sing happy birthday for you!!

Beautiful Christmas Eve dinner with the family. We all enjoyed and the food was amazing and the staff were great and attentive. New owners have improved this small italian in Surbiton. Can’t wait to go back again!

We visited The Italian Taste for our yearly Christmas Eve meal with our family and were so glad we tried somewhere new this year. From the outside the restaurant looked very inviting and cosy and we weren’t disappointed. The owner was so very warm and welcoming and the waiting staff equally so. The food was extremely tasty and beautifully presented. The new owners of this restaurant are doing a brilliant job. Highly recommended.

Been coming to this restaurant every 4 to 6 weeks for 15 years. Went tonight and it's changed hands. And I can safely say we will.not be coming to this new restaurant for the next 15 years.

I popped in on the "off chance" on a busy early evening. Luckily they managed to fit me in, food absolutely superb, seafood linguine + side of rocket & parmigiana salad, washed down by a couple of glasses of Frascati, all in all a fab restaurant, and it was a joy to see a truly professional waiter at work

My partner and I were visiting Surbiton for the first time this weekend and we were walking by this restaurant .. we decided to go for lunch with our 2yr old granddaughter. The staff were so friendly and kind and we felt really ‘at home’.

My god it is incredible. Had the carbonara this time. Best I have EVER had. Service great. Amazing again! Thank you

I have been going here for many years since they first opened. Isabel recognised me and gave me a nice welcome, but not the same for my colleague who had previously refused to go there again. MyTortelloni Aragosta (lobster) was very tasty but had many more tomatoes, albeit nicely cooked, than tortellonis, with which they could have been more generous. However, my colleague's Paella was a huge helping, which he was unable to finish; he asked for this to be out in a box to take home, and it was put into a discarded ice cream container! As both our meals necessitated using our fingers (to dismantle the king prawn and remove the mussels from their shells) we asked for a finger bowl; having explained to the young waiter that this was hot water and lemon, he brought a small ramekin with cold water and a slice of lemon; we asked (politely) for hot water wnd when it was brought over it was slammed on the table by Isabel! The toilets were not clean, the gents having a running tap and a plastic container under the sink to catch the drips, whilst the ladies loo light did not work. Some improvement is required all round methinks to warrant 5 stars. My complaints are not the first of their kind in these reviews, which is a pity, as it is a nice little restaurant and I am sure that Isabel and her partner are lovely people. Cost £42 for 2 mains and 1 dessert, 2 coffees and 10% service charge, no drinks.

Haven’t had veal milinase like that in forever. Absolutely perfect. Ordered the chilli pizza bread to start and it lives up to its name. Spicy and amazing. Great service as well. Thanks

I suggested to go there with a friend, as my past experiences were good (good food, good value for money). How disappointing! From the moment we walk in and were seated to an unsteady table in a corner. The space was such that we had to sit next to one another and I had to change my chair as its bottom was on the verge of collapse. The menu has shrunk, so much so that the choice of pasta dishes is now quite poor (which is what we were coming for). When the dishes arrived, the pasta/sauce was boiling hot (i.e. clearly straight from a microwave). It was dismal and really not value for money. I won’t be going back.

Friendly family run really good honest food freshly cooked. Can' fault it. Grab a table outside at the rear if the weather is clement. Seafood linguine excellent. House white wine very acceptable. Nice people. Will return very soon.

We went twice whilst on a one week break. Twin Italian brothers served (took me a while to work out how our waiver kept appearing at each end of this lovely restaurant! Excellent food and portions. We will definitely recommend and return.

We enjoyed our evening at Italian Taste. The service was carried out with a smile and was efficient and the food was fine, if unexceptional. The salmon fishcake was well-seasoned if a little small in portion, the swordfish was again small in portion but well cooked and the tortellini was delicious. Sadly the prosecco that we ordered was warm (and had no ice bucket), side vegetables were lukewarm and poorly cooked and the mixed salad was poor and not dressed. I hope to go back as this is me of our neighbourhood restaurants but the food could be a little more generous and innovative.

Decided to try this Italian as reviews seemed good and we had never been – didn’t want to miss a gem on the doorstep. We were missing nothing. Menu is limited so you would expect the food to be exceptional. It was average with the bruschetta (classic dish to benchmark) being pretty lazily constructed and overwhelmingly onion. Food was served promptly which was good but all three courses were unremarkable and priced at or above market rate. Setting is a bit more contemporary and less cheesy than your usual town-based Italian. Um, that’s about all the good stuff. Service was awful. A girl and two older guys. The older guys looked like brothers and owners. No one was attentive. Glasses went unfilled between courses with an extraordinary wait to be asked for desert and even the it was ‘are you having desert?’ – well, yes, was kind of waiting for you to ask, for 10 minutes! Which of course I didn’t say – I waited to write it in a review. The female server was devoid of personality and a smile, the guys walked around a lot seemingly ‘doing things’ but actually were just walking around and not noticing that guests hadn’t had their empty glass queried for 20 minutes etc. I was also unhappy with the cost of the beer. Small glass of Birra Moretti - £4.95! That’s about £10 a pint. Extraordinary. And particularly extraordinary because nowhere on the menu, the flip side with the drinks, or the specials list was the price of beer stated. Now I know why! You won’t see the price of beer on their website either. Round this all off with a queue for the toilets (only special customers get to use the additional staff loo at the back of the restaurant) inside which you are greeted with a Tupperware box catching drips from the faulty sink. Just not good enough when you are charging full rate for the food and whacking on an automatic service charge. Most of all though it is the service that got me – nothing worse than people wandering around pretending to do things and actually achieving nothing. I don’t go out every weekend and when I do I want it to be a treat. I want the waiting staff to smile at the very least. Memorable food would be a bonus. We got neither. I don’t like writing negative reviews, but what a waste of a Saturday night and the best part of £80.

This is a real gem. On a high street with a Pizza Express at one end and a Zizzi at the other, it’s lovely to have an authentic, friendly, independent family-run Italian restaurant serving a wonderful selection of dishes. Our kids think the pizza is the “best pizza ever” and all of the dishes I’ve tried are brilliantly prepared and full of flavour. Great selection of Italian wines and beers and some traditional desserts if you’ve still room. The management and staff are all incredibly friendly and help to create a really relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere. It is always a pleasure to eat here.

Really friendly service. Great menu (Tagliolini Bistecca – thin egg linguine with sirloin steak strips is AMAZING!) 'Secret' little outside area for the summer. Best Italian in Surbiton in will be returning soon.

I'm so disappointed with our trip to the Italian taste. We had picked this restaurant out based on the glowing reviews on trip advisor. My expectations were high and I was hoping to find a hidden gem of a restaurant.

Had a lovely experiene. Fabulous staff, great food, would definitely visit again. Well done The Italian Taste!. We will be back

Our third visit to this fabulous Italian Restaurant. The food is sublime and an excellent variety of wines. I cannot praise the staff at this restaurant enough - they are extremely attentive and the service generally is excellent!

It was my partners birthday & we decided to try somewhere new. It was a very disappointing visit. I’m not sure if they were short staffed but staff were rude, slow & incredibly unhelpful. My partner is allergic to some food so there were only 2 dishes on the menu he could have. They were not very accommodating in terms of allergies.

Everything was beautiful, however, I was left feeling the mains lacked a portion or two of vegetables. My partner would, no doubt, give a five star. I will return.

Visited this evening for a family meal. Felt extremely unwelcome as service was non existent. Great shame as food was good. Attitude was noticeably different to regular customers with complimentary drinks and conversation at end of meal. This happened when we visited over Christmas but put it down to working flat out. Final insult was service charge added to bill which arrived at the table without a single word. Will not be returning as charging top prices for minimum service.

Lovely food, but we were out the back which was intimate but the music and chat were at the front of the restaurant, felt the front was reserved for regulars!

Try the fritto misto it is generous and delicious!This is a small cosy place with great authentic italian food and service.What more could you ask!

My Gym friends and I have for the past 10years celebrated Christmas with a meal at the above restruant . Having a booking on 13th December this year we all met up as usual.

Love this restaurant as the owner is always attentive, the food authentic and the service is always good. I like that it is a proper sole proprietorship - not a chain - and the dishes are classics served with genuine ingredients and flavours.

Very poor meal here last night. Service was incredibly slow with just 2 member of front of house staff and a chef serving the food and drinks. I see a lot of restaurants trying to save money by cutting back on staff and it just doesn’t work. All starters were very small but my King Prawns (most expensive option) were tiny and in sauce that had raw chilli in it. Quite horrible. My wife’s chicken for her main course was so dry that she left most of it. I expect most people will ask why I didn’t complain, well, thats what Trip Advisor is for.

28 of us went here last Saturday for a special birthday meal. We had drinks to start with and a sit down 3 course meal. The food was super and I have had a lot of very nice comments since about the food and place itself. The owner and his team couldn’t do enough for us.

We had a meal here and all the food was fine without being great. It’s a little 1980’s in style so nothing exciting but also not offensive. Their prices aren’t bad so for cheap food it’s okay. The staff were pleasant and served us well

Second time eating at this restaurant . I’ve noticed quite mixed reviews although have enjoyed our meals there both times.

We took a friend and his guest to dinner at The Italian Taste and it was a memorable evening, as a result of the outstanding food, charming ambience and a very good recommendation from the owner about which Italian bottle of red to buy. The prices are very fair and the range of options on the menu is excellent. In contrast with 'fasta pasta' style Italian eateries, this food has subtle aspects; and you don't get rushed through the meal so the table can be turned over.

Booked a table here for 7pm and although our order was taken fairly quickly, it was an hour before we got our starters. Typical Italian fayre.

This is one of my favourite Italian restaurants, the menu always has a good selection of authentic Italian meals and they’re always delicious! Highly recommend this for a dinner for 2, a family or a group.

We have become something of regulars at this restaurant, we have been going there every few months for around a year now. We like the warm welcome we receive each time and have never had a bad meal yet. The brut prosecco is delicious, and there is not a dish on the menu we would not recommend. Having taken my parents to the restaurant yesterday, we were seated at a lovely table next to the window, we found all servers to be very attentive (unlike some of the reviews suggest on here). Really cannot recommend enough.

the pasta was done to perfection - really loved the Lobster Ravioli and my mother enjoyed the lemon sole, never tasted the like.

Sadly since our last meal in September it has really gone down hill for us, my carbanara was so full of fat it was terrible , i did tell one of the men that work there but they didn't care , another meal was liver and it was tasteless the wine was £25 and the beers are very pricey too so One starter and three mains so nearly £100 and a terrible meal.

My friends had travelled a very long way after work to come and see me in surbiton and were looking forward to a good meal which we had but it took a lot longer to order than we would have liked... On arrival we weren’t given menus and I had to keep waving at the few waiters working to finally get some. When we came to ordering mains after trying to flag down waiters for ages we asked the young waitress if she could take our order and she said the other waiter would come in a minute. Ten minutes passed and he still didn’t turn up... I don’t see why she couldn’t have just taken our order, surely it’s easy to write down things and put it in the till?! There only seemed to be three waiters working on the Friday night we went which is pretty poor. I don’t like to speak badly of local places but this restaurant really needs to up its game and read the recent reviews on here as service is clearly a significant issue. On a positive note the main courses were great and we all enjoyed our meals and the house white wine (the tiramisu wasn’t very authentic though and was more like cold custard with hard sponge fingers).

Went to this restaurant for Mother's Day and I liked the service despite how busy it was.

Took over half an hour to take our order, food took another hour to get our main meals, chicken was undercooked, returned it to find it was still undercooked. Rest of the food tasteless. Waiter used the excuse that it was “busy”. On a Saturday night. Stay clear. We will not be returning.

Had cocktails at £5.95 each. All really watery (basically felt like a money spinner) and didn’t taste good at all. Thy really need to sort this out as I was very close to complaining and asking them to show me exactly how they made them. A real ripoff.

Picked this restaurant for lunch while in the area on business. After a warm welcome the service was great, the food was lovely, especially a soup on the specials - lentil with mozzarella. The rest of the meal was really nice & we finished it off with an espresso & the coffee was great!

After having a shambles of an evening not being served in one Italian and then turned away at the next we decided to give Italian taste a go and will definitely be returning! Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and good food! I will be back!

I decided to book this place because of all the great reviews and I am sure that on a normal evening things would have been much better. The choice on the menu was very small and I wouldn't say particularly authentic, there were not options for sides or extras which was a shame as the portions were quite small. I had the lobster ravioli which tasted lovely but i only got 4 pieces of pasta. My Partner had the chicken with potatoes and veg which tasted fine it just wasn't worth what we were paying. The tiramisu was bland and small and the creme brulee had come out of the fridge... I'm not sure if cold creme brulee is the italian way so I'm sorry if thats the case!
