We have just been for their first evening open having taken over the business in late June. What a success, they’ve made the place look so nice now. They were fully booked, delightful staff. Great themed menu for the evening, all came very promptly and was delicious. Lively meal finished off with a honey come affogato - what’s not to love!

We visited with my elderly father. We have been previous customers but it has changed hands in the summer. We wanted a substantial meal and have previously had some lovely meals there. The menu was limited. Sandwiches, burgers, salads, cakes and scones. We ordered from the specials. My Dad ordered the chicken pie and myself and my husband the soup. We ordered three teas. The tea was Lose leaf tea but had a strange taste. On ordering, we were told 20mins for the pie but it took over 40mins to arrive and we had to chase it up. The tea was cold by then. The pie was hot with only a pastry top in a dish and the vegetables were cold! The soup was watery, spicy with huge clumps of kale which were tricky to eat with a soup spoon. I think the bread was on rations, the smallest slice of slightly over cooked bread. The seating was uncomfortable and hard. And staff didn’t seem very friendly. Very disappointed and we probably won’t be back. Shame as it was a lovely little cafe.

Right at the bottom of the Steep high street, go left before the bridge as though you’re going towards a car park, it’s a low stone building on your right… loved the really friendly and professional staff, excellent leaf tea (my friend had a great americano coffee). Didn’t like: miso soaked mushrooms on gluten free sourdough bread, just not to my taste as it turned out. Should have had one of their 3 excellent looking gf cake choices. It’s new this place I’m told - go give it some trade it’s really nice on there.

The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly, service was quick and the food was nice. One of my poached eggs was hard and when I mentioned it to the gentleman behind the counter he apologised and offered to get me another or a cake as an apology. The cafe was a bit cold which meant I never took my coat off and we found it quite expensive for what it was

We called in Wildings after a walk along the Nidd river at Pateley Bridge with our dog yesterday afternoon. We ordered two coffees and a cheese scone with butter. One of the ladies kindly brought a bowl of water for our dog. The coffees and scone were excellent, as was the service. We will definitely return when we're in the area again.

We popped in for a coffee the day before with our new rescue dog Marley. We couldn’t have felt more welcome. Marley was given water, dog biscuits and was a hit with everyone in there. As we are local we went back today for lunch with the parents too. The latte, with oat milk is delicious. You could taste the freshness and quality of all the ingredients. I am a bit of a fussy eater but every taste was exceptional. I had the BBQ pulled pork ciabatta, salad and slaw. Not to forget the chips with herb mayo. The decoration is light , stylish and clean. I am jealous and in love with the vintage haberdashers, now cake counter. The only suggestion would be an option of a cushion as my mum inlaw got a bit of numb bum 😉 We will certainly be back, I think I’ll have to ration myself to the amount of visits 🤣 Marley also made lots of new friends today. What a great addition to Pateley ☀️

Typical example of the modern English generic lunch venue, lacking character , comfort and personality relying on its scenic surroundings to draw in visitors to the area. The food was acceptable , but slow to arrive, our drinks were cool and our bottoms numb by the time it arrived on the plus side the pea and courgette spread/dip was very good indeed. Was dismayed that the owner admonished one of the staff in full view of the diners, showing very poor management/supervisory skills

At last somewhere in Pateley with a finger on the modern pulse! Great improvement inside -now bright and airy instead of the dark and dingy interior previously. Coffee and tea were both excellent -proper loose leaf tea and great tasting coffee. So nice to see Balthesens pastries here - nowhere else in Pateley selling things like croissants has always been a disappointment ! This will definitely become our favourite coffee spot. Looking forward to the evening option too as we only live a 15 minute walk away ! Hope the new owners do really well -theyve made a great start and from the number of people in there today there's plenty of people who like what they are doing

We stopped here for a mid-morning coffee and cake after a local said, "It had just been taken over in the last week by a young lady who is trying to make her way." Well...it won't take long to make her way with such fantastic service and delicious cakes! The staff couldn't do more to help, answer questions and generally make you feel welcome and at home. They pushed 2 tables together for our group of 4 adults, a 1yr old and a dog. There is even a sign outside to say dogs welcome inside and out. Lovely to find a dog friendly cafe! The cafe is decorated nicely. So...down to the nitty gritty. Cakes sampled...plain croissant, pecan maple and apple thing, banana malt loaf x2...all delicious! Drinks, americanos, tea and a hot chocolate. All delicious. I had the hot chocolate (although I shared it with my son) i was given the option or milk, white or dark hot chocolate and it was made with little choc drops. Best hot chocolate i have had in years! Yum! The tea, they make this a science and weight the leaves out, lovely brew. The americanos finished lovely! Proper barista! This place was so lovely, we decided to go back for lunch after a little walk! Lunch time, we managed to get the same table, (thanks to a kind customer who moved table) Red pepper soup was a hit by the wife and mother in law, who even said "its the best soup she has had!" Which is a bold statement from her if you dont know her. I had the burger and i was NOT disappointed! Best burger of the week! A hot ciabatta with halloumi was a hit by the father in law. We decided to have more cake....another maple pecan and apple thing, rocky road and dark choc sourdough cookie. Massive hits as per the morning! Drink to add, still elderflower was scrummy! In a nutshell this place was the highlight of the week, and will certainly put Pately Bridge back on the map of places to visit for many. Stop here if you are visiting the village, driving through or just in the country somewhere. Loved the cake display! Only downside from us is that it is 212miles from home for us to visit again. Other than that, not a bad word to say!

This cafe is in a nice position right by the river. We came for the opening with new owners Jem and Steve. They are caring for the environment, using seasonal produce, courgette instead of avocado, and using sustainable products as much as they can. Hubby and son had burger and chips. The chips are cooked in British rapeseed oil and homemade burgers were delicious.i had pea and mint soup that again was homemade, so fresh tasting, and delicious. My daughter had homemade scones jam and cream which she enjoyed. The cafe is dog friendly and even sells dog ice-cream. If you are in Pateley Bridge please pay the cafe a visit you won't be disappointed.

Great location and I can imagine that it would be lovely sitting outside in the sunshine. staff were friendly but very expensive for what it is. Unfortunately we didn’t see the prices before we sat down (our fault for not asking to see the menu before hand) and then felt too rude to get up and leave. Some sandwiches were almost £10! So opted for something small instead and even that came to quite a bit. 2 scones and 2 cans of coke cost almost £12!

I visited Wildings Tea Room in Pateley Bridge whilst on holiday with family in the area in April. Very pretty traditional Tea Room with indoor and outdoor seating next to the River Nidd. We were greeted by friendly staff and choose to sit inside. We each opted for Toasties which were well presented and well filled. There was a lovely selection of homemade cakes in a glass cabinet – I opted for a Bakewell Slice which was delicious (see the photo!). A recommended visit for a light lunch/piece of cake. Toilet facilities were available and were very clean, as was the whole place.

We stopped here for lunch on our way to Bolton Abbey for an overnight stay and it seemed to be one of the few places open on a Thursday in Pateley Bridge. There were only 2 other couples inside so we picked a table overlooking a small balcony and the river. None of the doors or windows were open but it was extremely cold inside the cafe so we sat with our coats on the whole time, as did the other couples. The waitress was polite enough but no smile or chit chat, just took our order. The tea was extremely strong and we had to ask for a pot of water. Also no butter with the bread for my husband's ploughmans but they did bring some when asked. I had a ham sandwich which can only be described as a doorstop. The ham itself was very tasty but was cut about an inch thick and the bread had been buttered with hard butter so there were holes in the bread. It was served with some crisps and pink coleslaw but all crammed onto a plate a little too small. Perhaps we hit this on a bad day as some of the other reviews look excellent so it would not stop us trying this café again maybe when the sun is shining and the staff a bit more cheerful.

There was not one thing that the waitress got correct in our order. We sat outside in the cold wind thinking that we would support a local business. We were sat on the end table on the corner of the building. I sat there and occasionally vaped. Not one of the big silly ones that emits loads of vapour, but a “ lady “ came out and was quite frankly rude and aggressive. I explained that it was only water vapour, but she continued. So I stopped vaping. Then a gentleman came out with two poor excuses for a sandwich and he started on me in a loud and aggressive voice. I explained that I had stopped vaping when asked, but he wanted to be the big man with a loud voice. He went when I stood up, which was fortunate for him. But he embarrassed the other customers and himself.I understand that some people don’t like vaping, and I have no problem with their point of view, but this Basil Faulty impression was not called for. However, the bill was incorrect and sandwich poor quality at a top price.

The lady got the coffee both wrong, and after leaving realised the cakes were not right either (should’ve checked before I left), and also tried to charge an extra £9. All of the mistakes I’m sure are innocent mistakes, but potentially focus more of the customer you are dealing with that chatting and trying to catch up with the regulars, apart from improving accuracy it is also more polite!

Just popped in for a coffee a we were passing through and because it looked so nice and inviting. Nice filter coffee in pleasant surroundings and polite staff. The café was quite busy when we arrived and it is quite small but comfortable. There is a nice display of home-made cakes and I believe there is outside seating for when the weather is warmer.

We were advised we would have to wait a while for our food as Party of 10 had just sat down and they only had one chef. Worth the wait we were happy with our choices and not in any rush.

Happened upon this delightful tearoom by chance and so pleased we did. Very friendly and helpful staff. When we requested scones we were given the option to try a new flavour of apple and cinnamon, which my husband had. This was very light and tasty and he thought it was the nicest scone he had had. I had the cherry scone, which was full of cherries and so light and fresh and obviously home made that day. We will definitely be back. Thank you

Have just suffered the rudest customer services from the owner that I've ever experienced. Having eaten a very mediocre and fairly expensive scone, which I had been assured was freshly made today, I politely commented (after paying, so it was obvious that I wasn't trying to avoid this) that I was disappointed with it. I am a pensioner and not beligerant. I was told in no uncertain way to go somewhere else next time! When I pointed out that I had only made a very minor comment, the attitude got worse and the earlier suggestion was repeated. I certainly will go somewher else next time and suggest that you do too.

This is the most important Tea Room in North Yorkshire as it is here you will find the best Cheese Scones in my opinion the man is a expert in art of baking sweets and savouries. My wife had the chicken sandwich which was excellent fresh plain lettuce and tomatoes.

Excellent scone (grandma’s recipe) and tea out of china cups. Unlike many other cafe/teashops in Knaresborough, it’s open after 4pm and dog friendly.

Me and my partner stayed in the area and booked in here for an evening meal last week. What a lovely pub. The owner was very friendly and welcoming. The open fire was just what we needed after a day of walking. The fish pie was delicious. My partner enjoyed the lamb shank. Would definitely recommend people eating here .

Happened to be passing and spotted this lovely cafe so came back with hubby for lunch. Sat inside at a table in the window. Lovely clean and bright decor, staff pleasant and efficient. Not a vast menu yet we found something we liked and enjoyed our lunch, honest prices too. Took some brownies home with us and they were lovely, particularly liked the salted caramel. Great little lunch stop, recommended.
