Excellent customer service. Excellent food, Jeffrey the owner goes out of his way to help and accommodate me. I’m in Belfast and asked him could he deliver pastries. It was a thank you to someone who helped me. The staff were absolutely delighted with the beautiful fresh pastries. Great customer service, amazing pastries and a genuinely nice gentleman. Thank you so much. You made all the staff smile today.

Doggy friendly & popular but needs an extra staff member. Sells specialist breads and the staff member on duty had no issue replacing my whole coffee when they brought the wrong size. They are open to doggy owners- I’m assuming small dogs. Could definitely use an additional staff member though - there was only single staff member over our visit / lunchtime. Does take card payments. Clean.

We regularly visit this bakery to get supplies of the white sourdough bread that we really like. Most of it is then frozen and used to make the most wonderful toast. Whilst visiting we sometimes stop for a coffee (which is also of a great quality). Today I was on a solo visit here whilst my Partner was visiting a friend and doing a bit of shopping elsewhere. It was lunchtime, so I decided to stop here for a bite to eat, a coffee, and a rest before walking the 3 miles back home. The lure of a hot and freshly cooked salami and cheese toasted sandwich was just too much temptation. The ‘die was cast’ and I waited whilst sat on a great table with a view of the street, and was rewarded with rays of the winter sunshine. The coffee arrived first; an Americano with hot milk. This was as usual very hot and very good; with lovely burnt-caramel flavours. I waited a while so that it cooled naturally and in the meantime my toasted sandwich arrived; with a small portion of good coleslaw and some really good sliced pickled gherkin (nice and crunchy). The sandwich was hot and the overall texture was so satisfying; just a small snack, but so enjoyable! Service was, as usual, both prompt and pleasant.

Disappointing experience. Stale pastry and the staff need training on making coffee. Staff not welcoming and I'm afraid I won't return as lidl pastries better.

Great coffee and sandwiches here, nice vibes in the day to eat / drink in and takeaway. Staff are always super friendly. I also use this on the too good to go app, always a great selection of bread!

New to me, this is a nice place; good cake choices and swift service. Hard to find anything to fault. Clearly popular with regular footfall.

Our continued patronage of this independent café and bakery is assured. Mostly because of the superb sourdough bread; we are close to an addiction for the toast it makes. Having exchanged messages with the management about an oversight with an order (as per my review of the 28th January this year), we took a visit here on a Thursday early lunchtime. We had been offered a free loaf of sourdough bread, as an apology, for letting us down with a telephoned bread order. As we were at the café, collecting our bread, we also decided to take lunch. We both really enjoyed an excellent cheese and salami toastie, served with coleslaw and sliced gherkin. Also a large Americano coffee which was, as usual, very hot, strong and richly bitter: so good! The toasties had a great taste, the texture was wonderful, and I must say they featured a particularly good salami. I enjoyed a double helping of the gherkins, one of my favourite accompaniments, as my Partner does not share my enthusiasm for these pickles. Service was bright and cheerful, with a very short wait for the toasties. We were very pleased with the reaction to our earlier review and it would appear that the issues that caused the failed bread order may now have been resolved; well we certainly hope so!

This is a café and bakery that we regularly patronize on our walks to Staple Hill. Our visits are to buy the wonderful sourdough bread sold here, and also take a half-way break during our walks. Our breaks here have been to enjoy excellent Americano coffee and the occasional and also excellent Pastel de Nata (Portuguese custard tart). We regularly purchase up to three loaves of the white sourdough per week, which we have sliced before collection and ready for consumption and for home freezing. We have learnt that it’s advisable to check availability; we have often ordered bread to collect on the same day or the next day. This has worked well for us until Saturday last week. Having phoned the bakery on Friday lunchtime and checked availability of the white sourdough, I was advised they had sold out. So, I ordered two loaves to collect the next day, and received the usual positive response. The following day we walked to the café to collect them (a seven-mile round trip). We decided we should take lunch at this café. It was just past 12 noon when we arrived at the servery. We tried to order a couple of toasted sourdough sandwiches – all sold out. We then chose ordinary sandwiches from a scant selection, plus coffee, and then asked for our bread order. The order had not been made-up and worse the white sourdough was all sold out! The young female server didn’t really help. I don’t recall an apology, although she did mumble everything she said, and with music playing and other customers chatting it was very difficult to hear her. We walked out in disgust. I then rang on the following Monday morning in hope of speaking to a member of the management, but I was told that no-one was available, and that all staff had ‘gone’ and wouldn’t be returning! I did however successfully place an order for two loaves of white sourdough which we successfully collected within the hour.

We took a midweek walk along then through the Staple Hill Tunnel. When we emerged up to street-level, we walked back through Staple Hill and encountered this pleasant little bakery and café and decided to stop for a reviving drink. The café had about 9 or 10 customers in three groups plus a older lady who was on her own. We were quickly served with two good strong coffees and I had (a naughty) Pastel de Nata. We also bough one of their sourdough loaves, this proved to be an excellent purchase; very good sourdough. A very pleasant café with great service, the music was relaxing and the ambience was good.

The only problem with this one is, it's too local and I'm spending all my money there! Best coffee in Bristol and great sandwhiches and cakes. In fact, I'm on my way there now ........

So like everyone else my only complaint is why do you have to empty a whole bottle of salt on my fries?! How hard is it to leave the fries plain and let people put their own amount of salt. Whilst i was there today i seen people from 2 different tables go up and complain about the saltyness on the flippin fries. Just stop doiing it!

I visited this bar to eat with friends and did everything you are advised to do by a discount card I have and was abused by a senior member of staff in front of friends. Gross bad management. I will never set foot in this place again and would not recommend this establishment!

There are, arguably, two reasons to visit Downend. One is on a summer’s afternoon to watch Downend CC play cricket with the bar in full swing and plenty of boundaries being scored as the ground is relatively small; the other is to pay a visit to Melanie’s Kitchen. This delicatessen shop is a positive cornucopia of cheeses, bakery items, biscuits, chutneys, artisan breads etc etc. The man who serves at the cheese counter (who I assume is not Melanie!) is a fountain of knowledge on local cheeses and knows all of the local cheese producers, when their cheeses are at their best and is happy to provide advice to ensure that you will leave well satisfied having enjoyed a sensory and culinary experience second to none. It’s full marks from me.

Came here by chance when the other Indian restaurant we had booked messed up our booking. Warm welcome in nice, modern decor. Menu was full of quite authentic Indian dishes which the staff were really helpful giving their advice. There are the usual curry classics too. Had the lamb curry which was divine & other family members had a variety of dishes which they all loved. One of the best curries I’ve had outside of India, it was that good! This place is a real gem! Patchway is very lucky to have this wonderful restaurant.
