I had the Shakshouka. Very tasty and well presented, but also very small and massively overpriced (£12) for a few beans in a spicy tomato sauce, with a poached egg on top. I could have made the same thing at home for a couple of quid.

Here for a Sunday brunch with reservation. Though it seems to have occasional walk in seats. Greeted by friendly staff that checked on us several times during our meal. They also reminded us that food are made to order so it takes time, turns out all our dishes arrived within half an hour which I think is reasonable. Ordered anchovy pate as a starter which offered generous portion of pate for a really small but toasted perfectly bread. Smoked mackerel was decent but not excellent. The place is in a small food market which adds to the vibe.

Wonderful to sit at the bar and watch an excellent young chef who is clearly passionate about his work. I had a simple but delicious egg and bacon sandwich but my wife had a vegetarian breakfast and said it’s some of the best food she has ever tasted. Simple food cooked with flare in front of the customers. Its a small kitchen so not the quickest but there’s plenty to do while waiting.

My partner and I love this little eatery in the Goods Shed. We had dinner here on a Saturday evening. The counter seating was in full sun and so the staff kindly agreed to serve outside by the main entrance so we could enjoy Al fresco dining on a beautiful, warm summer’s evening. We had a selection of snacks and small plates which were all creative, beautifully presented, incredible flavours and reminiscent of quality tapas from a Spanish themed menu. The kitchen is tiny and yet the food here is of a very high standard. The staff were all super friendly and attentive and the chef took the time to ask if we had enjoyed our meal as we were paying the bill. This is one of the best restaurants in Canterbury to enjoy a drink and some good quality food in beautiful surroundings with down to earth, unpretentious service.

I love this place. They do amazing things with a tiny kitchen. Delicious, inventive small plates, perfectly balanced cocktails, a proper attention to flavours and textures. Lovely people who care about what they do. It's an atmospheric setting within the Goods Shed, nice relaxed counter seating with some tables to spill over. Consistently one of the best places for a casual/fancy drink & eat in Canterbury.

Only had drinks and a pastry. Servers were friendly (morning and evening) and we got our drinks sort of timely. Indeed the apple juice is out of a carton but the coffee was actually excellent and so was the chai latte. Our cardamom bun was tasty but undercooked which was a shame. The place is lovely and had a good atmosphere

My partner and I love the Good Shed, however I just really wouldn’t recommend this particular part of the market. We had a really poor experience getting a coffee here. It took them so long just for two coffees, we were the only customers they had. There was just two of them working but for some reason the young girl was the only one doing anything and the older guy I assume was her boss just stood and watched and chatted to a guy sitting at the bar. My partner and I both ordered an orange juice as well as our coffee and that was the biggest kick in the teeth. Paying £3+ for one orange juice you expect it to be some kind of freshly squeezed juice or a bottle or something of that sorts - maybe that’s just me. Instead, it was a half pint cup of Sainsbury’s saver’s concentrated juice. I was genuinely embarrassed, watching them poor it in the cups right in front of me I was trying to decide whether I felt bold enough to tell them we don’t want that - I wasn’t. (context: there is a Sainsbury’s local two minutes down the road from this venue so if that’s what I wanted I could have gotten a good 4 cartons of juice for the money i paid for their small cups). Adding insult to injury they didn’t have enough juice left to fill two cups, so the young girl bless her heart was rushing about looking for something to fix the issue and the two of them bickered amongst themselves about the fact they had no orange juice left. Eventually the boss arrogantly “saved the day” by pulling an orange out of the fridge and proceeded to squeeze it into the cup.. so i guess i got the freshly squeezed juice i had in mind.. The result was a 2/3 cup of Sainsbury’s own and a 1/2 cup of Sainsbury’s own with a side of freshly squeezed. I don’t complain or make a fuss but after watching this all play out for what was a good 15-20 minutes or more I was anticipating some kind of refund or good will gesture but I was simply sheepishly handed the drinks by the young girl and sent on my way. I smiled and said my thank yous of course she’s just doing her job. Of course I could have complained but I decided to just laugh it off with my partner over our coffees as I was genuinely quite baffled by the experience. I’m sure there are many redeeming factors about this restaurant / cafe - I just wanted to take the time to share this as it is one of those experiences that just gnaws at me. I’m not one to leave a bad review and I had definitely thought to just leave it be but it just doesn’t feel fair to be so blatantly ripped off. If I knew in advance I wouldn’t have bothered trying this place - so hopefully I can recommend that if you’re thinking of going to the Good Shed for coffee just keep it simple and go to Gill’s.

5 staff but still had to wait for 20 minutes to get a drink as only one was able to do cold drinks. Lady did say she would be a minute so a little taken back that it turned into 20. Watched other staff, check their phones . Watched food being cooked and was amazed at how one kitchen tool could be used for so many things, picking up cleaning clothes and well as serving food along with mixing food. Glasses with ice can be provided if you ask for them. It was 2.30pm on a Sunday and they were clearing up to close at 4 pm, so must have been a busy afternoon, and they all wanted to get home. Not sure I will rush back to see if things have improved any time soon.

Sorry, but after a very long wait, you can’t charge £8.00 for a very average BLT and serve a thimble of warm coffee 20 minutes before the BLT arrives. It’s just not on, The 1 star is for the venue which is lovely and the lady who did apologise for the wait, but we left disappointed and feeling a little bit ripped off to be honest. Called in after visiting the cathedral. It was quite busy and finding somewhere to sit slightly awkward as we shuffled down the side to perch in bar seats. Food prepared in front of us. The squid and lentils advertised wild garlic but despite assurances it was there we failed to taste it. We also failed to see any during four days of cycling country lanes. I had goats cheese and sourdough. The sour dough was presumably toasted and was so dried out it was like croutons. A little softer would have been better. Despite the reservations it is a place we’d come back to for a quick bite.

The Wild Goose is tucked away in one corner of The Goods Shed and not the biggest of dining venues. But it is well worth a visit, at least for breakfast (and probably other meals too)! The Wild Goose cocktail bar and food counter in the Farmer’s market ‘The Goods Shed’ is amazing. I had a starter of sourdough with oil followed by sardines with herbs and tomatoes. It was all so fresh and tasty! I would definitely return again and again for the same lunch meal. The atmosphere is so friendly as everyone is seated around the bar, which may not be to everyone’s taste when going out for a meal but it works. Try to get there early as the seats fill up quickly at lunch time!! The prices are also very very reasonable (would even say cheap for such good quality). Definitely recommend a visit if you are in Canterbury, you will go away satisfied and pleased. It is such a pity they are not open for dinner as well! It is just down the road from the train station in the Farmer’s Market.

We liked the cheese on offer at The Goods Shed and decided to buy some on our way home. Then it was getting late for lunch so thought of the restaurant. No booking so no table. Try Wild Goose. Absolutely brilliant. Bar style with one two-person table. The offer was unusual and carefully selected. The honey roast shallots on sourdough toast with goats cheese and spring onions (I think) ticked all my boxes. Then there was smoked trout with roe and creamy something equally good. And the coffee was the best we have had in a long time. Really friendly staff added hugely to the delight, as did the proximity to the beautifully stocked fish counter: altogether a very invigorating ambience.

We found this small bar and eatery when we visited the Goods Shed to buy some meat and vegetables. The staff are relaxed, friendly and helpful; nothing seems to be too much trouble, just what we need! There's a limited menu with some extras chalked on the board all prepared by Felix in clear view of all; they're described as small plates but are perfectly big enough for lunch or a light dinner. The house wine is fine and affordably priced. We've enjoyed everything we've had so far, the lamb cutlets with salsa are a favourite for me but it's the simple things with a twist that makes this place special; we've been back 6 times since we found it. But, if you visit when it's cold try to get a stool near the window, there can be an icy blast from the door!

Of course the Wild Goose is great, just read the never ending exceptional reviews. To watch your own tasty dish tossed and teased by expert hands before your own eyes is part of the pleasure. Just as much fun is the potential for people watching. We were lucky on the day of our visit by a fellow diner straight out of ALICE IN WONDERLAND. Lewis Carroll's Mad Hatter approached the bar and sat three stools away from me. A stylish guy in a neat coat with his day return ticket from Charing Cross tucked in the band of his over sized big brown Derby. I suddenly felt under dressed. This dude was cool, and he knew it. We have visited the Wild Goose bar located in the Good Shed on a few occasions and have never been disappointed. The location right next to Canterbury West station makes it a great starting point for an evening out, but you can easily end up whiling away the hours thanks to the relaxed atmospheric feel of the place. Low lighting, candles and the rustic decor make you feel right at home. The long bar at the front seats about 12-15 people but there are tables and stools also available if you don't manage to grab one. The cocktail menu is different and interesting, and the cocktails themselves don't disappoint. Mixed well and always delicious. They also serve a variety of beers and wine if cocktails aren't your thing. The food on offer is small sharing plates like Tapas. The Mackerel Pate and Merguez are particular favourites! All made with fresh local ingredients and absolutely delicious. The only downfall is slow service at busy times, and difficulty actually getting to the bar to place an order when all the seats are taken! But if one of the staff notices you they will usually go out of their way to come to you to take an order, and will pop back regularly. More than one toilet would also be a bonus but on the whole no complaints, a really delicious bite!

Have dined several times and the food and service have always been first class. Seasonal fresh produce freshly cooked. House wines very reasonable at £16 a bottle.

This is one of our favourite eateries in Canterbury and having visited three times I am now compelled to write a review. The bar/restaurant is tucked away in the corner of the Goods Shed. It's a great spot to watch the market in full flow. Rustic wooden tables and bar stools surround the bar. The service is very laid back and unobtrusive but equally charming. The menu offers a selection of regularly changing tapas style dishes all cooked with local, naturally sourced produce to order with specials on a blackboard behind the bar - the pork belly offered at the time of our visits was exquisite. Our favourites included the roasted shallots with goats curd, the smoked mackerel pate and the lamb merguez sausages with tsatziki. This place offers a seriously good cocktail menu - having sampled most the 'Golden Goose' and aptly named 'Strangers on a Train' are the stand out favourites. Go and try - you will not be disappointed!

Tucked away at the back of the Goods Shed we came across the rather rustic bar of The Goose. We clambered upon the bar stools and ordered some cocktails. It was chilly but behind us all were a selection of warm throws that we happily flung upon ourselves. The cocktails were delicious, well presented and good value for money. Interesting ingredients that infused well for a great taste !Staff are young and full of fun !

The Goods Shed is a great venue selling fresh fish, meat, veg and selected groceries . There are 2-3 eateries and the Wild Goose is one of them. The menu is short but interesting and I enjoyed the Bubble and Squeak with black pudding for £7 . The chef is ex London who created this concept eatery. Very relaxed atmosphere on stools at raised tables or at the bar. Breakfasts seem very popular! I recommend it.

Called in for breakfast, service was lukewarm, so was the coffee. It is usually much more welcoming than this, perhaps it was an off day? The eggs were a bit flavourless, the mushrooms were great.

We were visiting Canterbury and decided to visit The Goods Shed to see what foodstuffs they were selling. Whilst there we found The Wild Goose, a small area given over to Coffee and cakes, and it also had a good Tapas menu. But we had already eaten so only had an extremely tasty coffee, exercising willpower not to succumb to the goodies on offer. The Wild Goose is a small area at one end of The Goods Shed, and has a bar type serving area with high bar stools, which would not be safe for young children. Along with Coffee they also serve cocktails, but as we were in the car and it was only mid-afternoon we decided to forego a taster! This is a small enterprise within a larger setting with several food vendors so people have a good choice of various types of snacks and meals, but the coffee was excellent and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Another 'drop in spot' for when we visit Canterbury again.

Inside the Goods Shed, just beyond the railway station, is the Wild Goose cafe. You wouldn't know from outside as there is no signage for it. The goods Shed itself is a well realised conversion of a railway shed into a farmers market/bar/restaurant.Our vegetarian options were, as usual, limited, which led to the only main course dish repeating the ingredients of one of the two starters. The food was very good with the exception of the sun-dried tomatoes. The service was just right and the cost was just OK. Well worth a visit

If you enjoy cooked-to-order, tapas-style ‘small plate’ food, home-made cakes and sprauncy cocktails (made with local ingredients were possible) served in the confines of a bustling and rustic indoor market, then Wild Goose will fit your bill very well. On the menu — which runs to about a dozen dishes — there’s an excellent bubble & squeak tapa complete with morcilla and a fried egg. Summer Antipasti are spot on, as are the tempura vegetables. The Merguez sausages and the ‘Borek Cigars’ I find moreish in the extreme. The WG can’t be faulted on price either: the average price is about £7 per dish. Last, but far from least, are the pleasant people who are likely to serve you — especially the calm, smiling and ever-so-serene Lucy and Georgie. (Should you need a goose, the nearby butcher can probably provide.)

The food was wonderful and kept on coming. Supremely atmospheric venue. Worked our way through their inventive drinks cocktail menu and settled on great a pint from Deal. Awaited our train with a great coffee.

We came here early on a weekday evening, and had a lovely hour or so, enjoying the 'Mother Goose' cocktail and a selection of delicious tapas. Lucy and Felix served us, and were both great - friendly, relaxed, professional. We loved the way the food is prepared right in front of you as you perch at the counter on stools, and it feels like sitting in someone's kitchen. Returned a few days later for brunch, which was also excellent. Highly recommended.

Have been here a few times. They have the best coffee I've ever tasted! Only been for breakfast menu but it never disappoints its consistantly good and always delivered in good time. You sit at the bar and watch the team prepare everything in front of you which is nice to see what effort is actually going into making your food and drinks. I did get scrambled eggs instead of the poached eggsI'd asked for but I ate it anyway and it was delicious and was given a free coffee for the mistake, which I was happy with. They also have loyalty cards for coffee. Cannot wait to try it in the evening to sample the other menus and cocktails.

Situated on the floor of The Goods Shed farmers market is a wonderfully laid back, extremely efficient and knowledgable restaurent. We thoroughly enjoyed our delicious fresh cooked tapas and informal setting without the fuss of having to pre-book a table. A sit on stools type establishment, we could watch our food being prepared and cooked whilst chatting to the friendly staff that served us delicious Golden Goose coctails very quickly, whilst we were perusing the menu which came in the form of a pretty paper placemat. We opted for the lamb cutlest, borek cigars and tempurar vegetables, and a surprising violet sorbet and choc cake, which were all faultless. The menu changes with everything seasonal and fresh from the Goods Shed market. Perfectly cooked with delicious flavours we were not disappointed by any of the dishes and cannot wait to return which will be very soon as it is so affordable, the most expensive dish was just £9. The atmosphere was buzzing and we had a lovely evening, this is somewhere where you want to keep it to yourselves, so ssh don't tell too many people!

A day off, and a delicious breakfast at Wild Goose. Perfectly cooked scrambled eggs and mushrooms, the latter with just the right hint of saltiness. Great attention to detail. Excellent Americano too. Lovely staff, and I'll certainly be going again.

What a find in the market next to the West Canterbury station. Wonderfully cooked food using only the day's freshest ingredients from the market right there. And an unconventional wine list make it a true exploration in eating.

Been meaning to go here for ages and so pleased we did. Went early eve and stayed from 630 til 9. Firstly they serve cocktails that have amazing flavours utilising locally grown herbs. Food is wonderful and all cooked in front of you, again, local fare. We had monk fish and chorizo skewers, bubble and squeak (amazing), a savoury filo pastry delight, tempura veg that was light and delicious, to name a few dishes!! It's a lovely quirky atmosphere and an escape from the usual. A must go place.

I have eaten a couple of times here and like the concept of all the food coming from the food hall but that alone isn't enough to make us come back again. The prices seem reasonable until you see the small portions, and the food could do with being seasoned more. The chicken my wife had was quite dry and bland and we were soon hungry shortly after leaving. Eating organic local food doesn't mean eating bland food or eating less.Service is good.

I've visited Wild Goose on a couple of occasions recently, the last being a couple of weeks ago on a Sunday morning for breakfast. Each time I have not been disappointed with what they've served. The mackerel and poached eggs is heavenly and the chorizo and scrambled eggs a brilliant combination of tastes and textures. The Wild Goose is a great spot for a quick breakfast in the wonderful Goods Shed which is a delight to be in.

Accommodated a group of six with a dog and were very friendly, service was ok, but after having our meals, they didn't come back asking if we wanted more drinks or anything else. Food was good, but average and not especially hot, nothing to complain about, we've just had better. Price was reasonable.

One of the best pubs in Canterbury. The Thursday pub quiz is legendary! The owners, Abs and Jamie, are amazing hosts! It's very clean and has great staff. Really great food, reasonably priced and very tasty 😋. Great selection of beers, including three cask ales 🙂. Would highly recommend walking from the city centre to this absolute gem of a pub.
