Widecombe Fair in Mansfield

We was greeted by a young man called Reece. He showed us to a table and made us feel very welcome. Very knowledgeable about the products he was offering. Came back to check everything was OK. Very polite and friendly throughout our visit. Will definitely be returning.

Arrived to a virtually empty pub. Sunday at 1pm. 6 people dining. One roast dinner had to ask for the carrots which had been missed. 2 smothered chicken. Clearly microwaved. Chicken was extremely dry we had to ask for extra BBQ sauce. Onion rings were missed and had to be brought after. 2 mixed grill with tough meat. The staff were lovely but the service was extremely slow for such an empty pub. Definitely not worth the wait. Would not go again which is a shame because the pub was nice and staff very friendly.

We had a brilliant breakfast. The food was cooked to perfection and the kids enjoyed a special pancake treat. Service was brilliant. Kasady and Skylar both very friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be back.

Hopefully it was an off day, came in with friends service was slow bar poorly stocked (children’s drinks) after taking our food order I had stacked the menus for the server to take them away she just left them so I had to put them on the seat next to me. Down in the bar area I can only describe it as a youth hostel! Either staff on their day off or friends of staff as they seemed to have the attention of the staff on shift. Multiple tables left with dirty plates and or glasses on them for a long time, just didn’t have the feeling anyone cares!

Excellent quality Sunday lunch . Fantastic service and friendly staff, we were served by Grace. Modern and spacious positioning of tables . We will be visiting again .

Had a lovely meal, Hannah our server was really friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. Food was really nice, and huge Yorkshire pudding on the Sunday roast

Was going to sit outside but all the empty tables was full of dirty plates and glasses so went inside and table we sat at was dirty with spilt beer asked for a cloth and barman came and just wiped the half of table (where we sat got to laugh) So ordered drink and had to wait 15 mins to get served although place was empty Apart from the cook who had his feet propped over the chair while on his phone along with manageress who couldnt care less So then ordered food Three cheese cabatta with chutney It came and sent it straight back no cheese and a spray of chutney Not much better when it come back Used to go all the time to this place But not anymore the place is just a joke just dont give a damn Mabe cos the manager was not there Shall not be rushing back

Not sure what’s happened here but it’s gone downhill fast. We have been regulars here for years but recently mistakes have been made and they’re getting worse. Last week I asked for a burger doubled, it only came with one in. Tonight we’ve been again and this time my burger didn’t even arrive with everyone else’s food! It was still being cooked I was told! Well don’t bring all the other food out then. When it did arrive I’d ordered a double burger with just the burger and bacon, nothing else. It’s not difficult is it? Not only did it arrive late it came with cheese and mayo on it! I told the guy who brought it and he took it away and brought it back minus the cheese! I said it’s still got mayo on and no bacon. By now all of my family had finished their meals and I’d had enough and told them to give me a refund for my meal because by then I’d had enough. I’d been at work for ten hours and hadn’t had a lunch break so was really looking forward to it. The guy in charge tried to make an excuse that the chefs can’t read the orders that go through but we made sure it was typed out properly when we ordered it. I just don’t understand how you can be so slap happy with loyal customers especially when the place is always empty. Sort it out Greene King before you end up with yet another boarded up pub.

Was quiet in the car park, it was quiet in the pub. It was clean and staff were pleasant. Beef dinners were good but mine wasn't. I asked for well done beef, but it came out looking like it was still alive and mooing. They quickly took it away and tried again. This time the beef didn't look as red but it was still mooing, so I scrapped it onto my bro in laws plate. Table was clean. Toilets were OK.

met here before football, couldn't believe the price of drinks. £9.20 for a Fosters and a John Smiths. Really stinging folk

My wife and I went in again on a rare day off work together. Hannah who served us was great, friendly and made sure everything was OK. The food was amazing, like it always is when we go. See you again soon.

We often come here due to the excellent food and service . Never had a bad meal yet . Came today for a birthday .., party of 18 and staff were amazing and attentive . Big thankyou to Joel and Hannah .

This is our fourth visit to this pub and it has become one of our favourite places in Mansfield for breakfast, lunch and dinner with the Basset Hounds in tow. We have had consistently good food here and have been made to feel welcome and comfortable. There is great value food and drink and the breakfast is recommended highly. The team are all really friendly and will do their utmost to make sure you have a good time. Recommended dishes are: the rump steak, the full rack of ribs, the full breakfast, the chicken fajitas and the hunter's chicken.... so far!!

We came as a family of 9 for mother's day lunch. We had a Great meal food was lovely and we were well looked after by Joel. Great atmosphere.

Visited Sunday night for dinner, tried to avoid the Mother’s day crowds. Warm welcome from Nicola, nice enough table, reasonable menu plenty of choices. We chose rib eye and sirloin steaks, cooked to our preferences and delivered piping hot. Nicola was attentive and had extensive product knowledge, served with a smile! Enjoyed the San Miguel, delivered promptly. Refreshing change from recent Spoons experience! Well done Nicola x

I came here for lunch with my partner and 18 month old and Hannah who was serving us could not do enough for us! She helped with our son who was getting bored and brought his lunch out a few minutes before ours and thought of everything such as a spoon for him which restaurants usually forget. Food was absolutely delicious and I could not recommend this place enough. Thank you Hannah!

Lovely glass of Merlot. Service with smiles. Nice environment. Had a burger which was perfectly cooked and the fries were LOVELY. A good place for decent pub grub - with excellent service and care for attention. I recommend booking in advance, as it can become quite busy. Aimee was attentive, polite and interested - thank you Aimee! The tiger prawns were a big hit, as were the halloumi fries; the burger was demolished in good time, and the mixed grill was decent. A nice range of mocktails.

Dropped in to Widecombe Fare on a whim and we weren’t disappointed. Managed to get a table without a booking on a Friday evening. Staff very polite and attentive. Food very good value and piping hot. Reasonable price drinks and tasty food. Nice to see Lily again too.

Quick lazy dinner and catch up stop with my mum. Live music on a Sunday was a very welcome surprise - playing all the classics in acoustic cover. Proper pub grub was exactly what we were after and it definitely delivered. 4/5 as despite it being very quiet no host available to seat us upon entrance. Redeemed by the lovely food servers, all very polite and helpful. Amy/Amie our server (should have asked for their correct spelling too) went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable - even helping title a film I was struggling to name after explaining it in depth to my mum. Made us feel welcome from the moment she started serving us. Lovely dining experience with her from start to finish. We would definitely come again!

The meal excellent as well the serving time was very good and the waitress Emma was brill. Would recommend.

I couldn’t recommend eating here enough. The serving staff are super friendly and accommodating, the food was delicious and came really quickly and the establishment is really nice and has a great atmosphere.
