What a find, a truly fantastic place. I was lucky to be staying 2 mins walk from away whilst working in Mansfield so managed to try a few meals, nothing disappointed everything was excellent especially the homemade pies and a great range of beers to choose from. The staff are excellent and friendly and the locals make you feel so welcome. I really can't recommend this pub enough. What a gem.

I've been going to this pub for a few months now its spot on

Went today, in a party of 12. Staff were lovely, very helpful. The food was absolutely lovely. Good home cooked meals. Not your usual microwaved dinners. We mostly had something different and everyone commented on how good their food was. Piping hot, a great selection of potatoes & vegetables. Thank you so much, have booked to come again next month.

Good old fashioned home cooked dinners and puddings, nothing too fancy. The staff are friendly and there's a good choice of ales.

We visited for a football match and this pub was recommended and I have to say we weren't disappointed. Excellent food and drink and very friendly staff and locals.

We were attending a football match at Mansfield v Shrewsbury and upon leaving the train station we asked a couple of coppers if they knew anywhere to have a drink and some food for away fans, and they said try the Railway and I have to say what great food we had and the beer is also recommended. If you ever visit Mansfield this is the best place to visit for your food and drink. And I have to say how very Friendly the staff and the locals were. The only downside was we lost the football

This propper real ale bar ant food place is 7 minuites from Mansfield Railway station This pub sells a great range of real ales and the bar staff were very pleasent on my visit in January 2020 Tuesday 17th September 2024 This Mansfield pub for real ale drinkers is an essential visit for not just its great well-kept real ales from interesting breweries, but also the clientelle is ace the owners and barstaff are nice and friendly and the pub is a proper English real ale pub like they used to be 100 years ago Pub does food people speak well of and come to eat. On Mansfield towns home games everyone is welcome😁😁😁😁

This is just a great old fashioned town center pub cheap and great home made food.

We missed our train so we stopped off here for a pint. Lovely local pub full of friendly.

The food has really plummeted in quality lately .luke warm potatoes and very grissly meat .I've heard the cook has changed and boy does it show , cold food wrong sized meals and generally nothing like it used to be. Won't be returning here until I get greatly improved reports of the food. Very disappointed with our food

We had the pies, very tasty Nice Ale too, will return if I ever go to Mansfield again.

The service was great accommodated my dietary asks however the food was let down by the chips which left a really horrible tates after eating

I go here for dinner regularly. Cheap and cheerful. Always have new drinks in. Food tastes great. I highly recommend the Steak and Stilton Pie

The Railway is probably the only place in Mansfield Town Centre where you can get a decent home cooked meal. For a relatively small pub, they offer a wide choice of meal options. The pub is warm & welcoming with lots of charm & character.

This is the place to eat in Mansfield, a real hidden gem. Freshly cooked, nutritious, very tastey, plentiful food. I've eaten here four times now. Had a different meal each time, they've all been delicious. They have a lovely variety of mains and I really appreciate that the vegetables have flavour and are cooked al-denti. It's a quaint proper pub, just near the bus/train station and the staff are very friendly. I can't fault it and now won't eat anywhere else.

Hidden gem in our town.. never been before till today (no idea why) but will be a regular now.. and the food 10/10 ..spread the word xx

Excellent food. This pub needs to sell itself online more because it could be missed and it's a gem. The lunch menu is excellent value for money. Food is hearty and served by friendly staff.

Wow wow wow. What an absolutely cracking little find in Mansfield. Was on a visit to Manfield to watch a football match yesterday on a Tuesday evening and this pub was recommended. Busy little pub with a cracking atmosphere as fans from both sides mingled together, the beer was cheap in comparison to many many pubs and the food was absolutely superb. Good old fashioned home cooked tasty food and the service came with a warm friendly smile from the amazing owner and staff who despite being run off their feet always had time for a laugh and a joke. 2 and a half hours away from where we live but my self and party have said we would happily travel to visit again on a non match game. With the blend of great fans sharing stories, great staff and superb food, one happy place to spend time. Please please please never change. We will be back

Wow wow wow. What an absolute gem of a place. A traditional old fashioned type pub with outstanding home cooked food and the friendliest people serving food I've ever come across. A busy Tuesday evening football night and pub was full of fans from both sides mixing how fans should do. Yet service was quicker than any fast food place, absolutely delicious and cracking value. 1 travelled 100 miles one way for the game and this place was the cherry on top. So much so I am, the day after, already discussing a visit again. One thing I would say to the people who run this pub, prepare and cook the food and serve it, please please please don't ever change. Locals, support this absolute gem. Big thanks to the pub and lovely people of Manfield for a cracking evening meal and company before the match.

The best food and drink in the Mansfield area by far ,real food,(real and proper chips to die for ) we go there every week,

First class food and really friendly staff. My wife and I called in for a midday lunch. I had cottage pie and my wife has pork roast. Sadly the portions were so large we could not fit in a pudding. Both were priced at £8 each including a starter/soft drink. How do they do it? Other comments regarding cleanliness is simply over-the-top. You must take into account it is an old building and okay with me.

Popped in prior to Mansfield Town v Posh Tuesday night football match. As a visiting supporter the staff and customers were warm and friendly and helpful. The barmaid recommended the homemade steak and Stilton pie which was delicious.

Visited before last nights match as away fans with Peterborough. Very welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Quite busy inside but service was very quick. This is a proper pub with excellent value drinks and food. The food menu is excellent with lots of choice and every meal is excellent value at £8. The portions were generous and the home made pies and chips were one of the best meals I’ve had in a pub for a long time. Highly recommend this pub and we will definitely be returning when we are next visiting 👍

Amazing little pub! Food is really good and there is a good selection of beers including 4 rotating hand pulls with different real ales every week. Staff are very friendly and you are made very welcome

A football fan favourite for after match drinks. I love the different rooms and tables etched with trains. Staff are down to earth, unflappable and friendly. The food looks like good honest fare home made, none of this generic mass produced nonsense. Just a good pub with the right hint of quirkiness and noise level.

A true old fashioned pub with a great choice of beers and excellent home cooked food. Homemade steak and onion pie, chips, peas and gravy for £8! Hardly a gravy smear left on the plate.

Went in one Sunday with friends The lady behind the bar couldn’t have made us more welcome she was brilliant we all had Sunday dinner the food was an absolutely delicious And she went out her way to make sure everyone was happy Even got a chilled ice bucket for our wine I’ve been to a lot of places for Sunday dinners but this is the best Will definitely be returning again soon Thanks again to the lovely staff

This was a really good place to have Sunday roast, they catered for gluten free and was careful not to contaminate any food. Nice old small friendly pub. Definitely eat here again.

Characterful pub in the centre of Mansfield. Good range of dinner options, including vegetarian/vegan. The chips were lovely. A rustic, home-cooked feel. Service a little slow, but staff friendly and polite.

Like there really ales and always a great meal

Drinks tasted cheap, came out lively out the draught and were dead as soon as we got to the table. Weird smell as well.

Called in for a drink and ended up having a dinner here. Food was very nice and a good price. 2 clean plates, actually i left a bit but only because i was full but hubby cleared that one too. Would definitely recommend. Staff were also very nice and pleasant.

Enjoyed our first visit.Would have been better if pie not been in microwave,chips bit overcooked but still nice was very strange hunters chicken was bacon and chicken chopped up in pieces with BBQ sauce n melted cheese saying that still enjoyed it used to having full chicken breast with bacon on top.Would we return definitely.Nice beer and cheap.Thankyou.

I've been here a few times traveling from Nottingham, what a gem of a place , small cosey rooms ,great staff and the food WOW absolutely beautiful, always a few characters in which there is always a laugh to be had , love the place

Took my elderly aunties and daughter today and u have 4 very happy people. My aunties ordered fish and chips, daughter had scampi and I had braising steak. Everything was piping hot and absolutely lovely. So what do u do when you are happy...order desserts . They were totally yummy. Staff were very helpful, my daughter fell over on the street on the way in and they bought her a plaster . We will be back next wk and I already know im having a pie 🥧 😋

We travelled to Mansfield from Essex to see Rock for Heroes. upon arriving we were told that the band had no time for food due to their van breaking down and consequently arriving late to set up their equipment. We asked the landlady (sorry forgot to ask your name) if she could make up some sandwiches for us to take away whilst we ate our delicious dinners. She not only provided a full selection of filled rolls but wrapped them all up for too. then gave us directions to the theatre. We will definitely visit here again when we are in the area. Highly recommend this very friendly pub.

Absolutely shocking and saddened by the gammon served at this place. The actual cheek of the women when I asked politely for her to refund it I got told the gammon is salty and from a butcher but I genuinely think it's from home bargains in the reduced selection that's how has the gammon actually was and the chips came out loop warm and so the meal wasn't dealt with correctly and the women told me to ask another person who ordered the same meal to see if his was salty. Definitely not the best way to deal with a ongoing paying customer I hav been coming for a few years now but never tried the gammon and this is obviously why so Just be careful if you do have any issues as the whole point in going for a meal is to enjoy and leave happy this genuinely wasn't the case today they just seemed to have lost every care in the world.
