Forever Green in Mansfield

Had a hot beef sandwich which was as tough as old boots. When I told them I couldn't eat the beef they said that's the way it is and I still have to pay. Next time I will go somewhere else

Took our mum for afternoon tea there was four of us , food was nice but not alot for £17.50 each . Coffee was nice . Was shocked that tap water was 85p after buying a meal . Nice surrounding and lovely staff .

We had our post wedding party here. The organiser (Maisie) helped the whole event go smoothly. It was a magical evening and the staff were brill. The food was incredible & good value for money. The place is beautiful. I can't say much more but a huge thanks. Barb & Nadia & our friends & family.

We arrived and the young girl was quite helpful getting us high chairs etc but it took a while as she fetched them 1 by 1 from upstairs - at first I wanted the breakfast omelette which wasn’t available but the same omelette £2.00 extra was available on the lunch menu so I had the £6.50 frittata which was tasty but very small even though it was the smaller portion. however my daughter had a bacon, Brie & cranberry ciabatta ( 60p extra for the ciabatta) when it arrived the Brie was a tiny slither and the ciabatta was very soggy and not baked/toasted as is the norm with ciabatta/ panini type sandwich so we asked for it to be toasted it came back with a “grilled” top but still cold and soggy so my daughter ate the filling but left the bread which was taken away and thrown, no one questioned why it wasn’t eaten if it was ok or offered to reduced it in price/knock off the bill etc, we waited for a waitress to see if we wanted a dessert but no one came ,so as my daughter was still hungry she went up and ordered coffee cake which was so dry it was inedible, we took it back when we went to pay and we didn’t pay for the cake, unfortunately their wasn’t any apologies! On the plus side the coffee was good but we won’t be returning, we run a small cafe and go above and beyond for our customers and customer care was certainly lacking !

Disappointed after coming during opening times to have a meal with my family, to be told they were closed. Times online and the fact that the door was unlocked said otherwise, ended up going to a local pub instead

Lovely place to eat whilst watching the wildlife.

I was out with three friends and it was my suggestion to go to Forever Green. I ordered the cod but unfortunately got salmon instead. I'm not a great lover of salmon but wasn't offered an alternative and there was no explanation from the young lady serving us. When we asked for coffee we were told we could only have Americano or tea. A different young woman came to clear the table and again I asked why I was given salmon instead of cod but she just ignored me and made no eye contact at all. I would come to this restaurant again as the food I had was nicely cooked even though I couldn't eat much of the salmon and everyone deserves a second chance. The waitresses obviously need some training in customer care or it's going to put a lot of people off from having a return visit. Come on Charles get your act together!!

I love the location of this place and have been a few times over the last couple of years for lunch as well as cakes and tea. I've overall been really pleased with the food and I go back again and again because the outdoor part is just beautiful being tucked away in a forest and an industrial estate at that it's so unexpected I love it. Unfortunately it loses a star because I've noticed that recently the pathways have been covered with tiny bits of glass. Initially I thought it might have been the remnants of a breakage but then I could see that it was actually a decision to lay the path with bits of glass. Maybe someone thought it would be pretty; give the walkways a bit of sparkle. In actual fact it the glass is quite sharp and I was glad not to have brought my dog or a friend with small children. As a dog friendly and family friendly eatery I'm disappointed in this choice landscape design, especially with it being a nature orientated environment designed to attract birds and other wildlife. I'm sure the glass idea doesn't benefit them either. If it wasn't for this, I'd be giving a 5 star review.

Great service, we booked a meeting room and would use it again with no hesitation.

I've been here a couple of times now in the past few weeks and have had something to eat and drink on each occasion. Whilst the food has been good, the coffee leaves a lot to be desired. I ordered a latte on each occasion and was presented both times with a cup that was half liquid and half "froth". The milk hadn't been "textured" as such, it was what you tend to get when you put the steam wand into the milk pitcher and just leave it. Certainly room for improvement. The locality can't be complained about though and it's an ideal stop off if walking in the surrounding woodland.

BBQ, we paid £26.50 each, not much choice, bread hard, lamb kebabs undercooked & pink, we checked before taking a bite as someone else mentioned it. Vegan/ vegetarian dry & claggy. Mentioned the undercooked food, waiter just smiled. Never mind, lesson learned, won't be returning or recommending.

The staff appeared to require training and had very little or no customer care at all apart from the girl who took the drinks order . We had to pre book our meal which was fine apart from the All Day Brunch which looked as though it had been cooked hours before and stood under grill. We had to ask for one of our drinks 4 times and the person in charge of the bar didn't seem to happy about it. The girl who cleared our table never spoke a word apart from asking us to pass the plates and glasses without a please or thank you. So rude and ignorant. When the owner was approached with our concerns afterwards he was really rude and didn't care. He wasn't interested. We could therefore see why most of the staff weren't pleasant either. As a consequence we will not be returning.

Very quiet and tranquil place to visit

Went there for a funeral wake,all good but bar staff were short crewed.perhaps the owners will take note.

Have just returned from Evergreen having a birthday lunch for my friend and while the surroundings were very nice and the omelette, when it arrived was tasty our table was booked for 1.0 pm our food did not arrive to our table until ten past two, I enquired about our order at ten minutes to two and was told it would be another five minutes in fact another twenty minutes passed. I'm afraid it took the shine off the celebration.

Having just moved in to the area I came across this place. I’ve been twice now once for lunch which was amazing and then again this morning for breakfast with my parents. The sausages were very tasty and the plate beautifully presented. The food and atmosphere here is one of the best I’ve been to in the area so far. Would highly recommend the forever green breakfast. It was also a good cost and great to see all the wildlife running about in the trees outside.

We always pop in for a quick breakfast and it’s always hot and tasty! Also tried the vegan carrot cake and was DELICIOUS! Shortbreads are a good little treat to go with a coffee to!

Wasn't impressed by the fact that when the booking was made, our group was told that it was £16 each and had to pay a £5 deposit. That was fine, but then when we paid the balance we were then told that it was £17,50! Surely they could have notified the organiser to let them know there was a price ncrease.Disappointed that there were no scones too.

Save yourself the disappointment and book somewhere else . Today I ordered a brunch meal for myself, when is arrived, It was obvious that the sausages were undercooked and I immediately cut one in half to check the filling, finding meat inside pink. I asked the waitress to return it to the kitchen. She returned shortly and I was then informed that the sausages were perfectly cooked. Again to me this was obviously not true as the skin of the sausages looked like they’d only been boiled rather than grilled or fried in any normal way. Perhaps they’ve been warmed up over a long period of time in an oven to get that just blanched look. Rather than debate this at the table, I left the sausages on the side of my plate and ate rest of the meal which in itself was not too bad, although the large amount of oil, from the fried egg on the plate, was a little off putting. When I went to pay, I pointed out that I was disappointed with my meal and was again reassured that the sausages were perfectly cooked. I disagree with this assessment paid for my meal and left. I won’t be visiting this restaurant again. Good luck if you’re booking an event there , it might be wise to give Imodium to your guests as a freebie. Amended 18:20 24/05:24 to include photos of apparently perfectly cooked Sausages.

This excellent place is hidden in Ransom Forest where there are many offices. Lots of parking with some EV chargers. Very popular with good food. Be sure to book your table !

Booked my table on the website which was very easy to do and requested an accessible table. On arrival was shown too the table and seated with menus. The drinks order was taken quickly and delivered the same. We ordered our food off the extensive menu which was delivered fast and freshly cooked so red hot. We had coffee to finish which was also of a high quality. Would highly recommend a visit as there was also entertainment outside put on by the birds and squirrels.

First visit here. Fantastic, the potato wedges are superb!!! Friendly staff.

Appalling food and chaotic service. There appeared to be no organisation from the serving staff. We were not served as a table with our food being served in stages so food got cold waiting for the remaining table to be served. Staff were just wondering around aimlessy with no clue who to serve. The food was poor and my main was barely edible. My colleagues pudding was an inedible apple pie. The pastry was so soft it looked uncooked and resembled a splodge on a plate so complained and the lad serving just snatched it away and stormed off. This was noticed by another member of the serving team who said “ignore him, he usually works downstairs and everyone is giving him s**t tonight”. I regret not asking for a refund. Shame as a lovely setting but will not return and would not recommend booking this venue for your Xmas party.

Very dissatisfied with Christmas lunch. Starter beautiful and hot. Turkey tough and not nice. Bowl of veg very bland. No gravy offered had to ask. Nothing like a Christmas dinner. No mashed potatoes No parsnip No roast potatoes. Dessert very small portion again very bland. Charged a fortune. Certainly not worth it. Wouldn't go again

All very good except for sharing the vegetables between tables but apart from that I can't fault it, the staff are very good and friendly and knowledgeable well worth a try

Went here for a family wedding. I have to say that from start to finish the experience was 1st class. The wedding service was superb..... the food was superb..... the service was superb..... the venue superb. Never been here or even heard of it before now but oh my...... 5 stars all round. 👍

Nice to sit and watch the wildlife food good

I visited here with a couple of friends to celebrate my birthday. My food arrived on a bed of undercooked sliced potatoes. The chef's response, via the waitress, was "they were cooked today". No offer of a replacement, apology or acknowledgement that there was anything wrong. I asked to speak to the manager but pparently that's the chef and he refused to speak to me. I was eventually offered a reduction of £3 off our bill. Incredibly poor service which spoilt my meal and we left without ordering dessert or coffee. None of us will be returning.

First time visit to this little gem in the forest easy to book on line lots of parking and set in a lovely wooded surroundings. Friendly welcome to a spotlessly clean restaurant, the menu is full of delicious dishes to suit all tastes. Fantastic food served hot and fresh fast friendly efficient service. Highly recommend a visit.

Went for a wedding reception and seemed a great place.

Although in a beautiful setting it was spoilt on trying to get out. No directions and when you find your way it is hindered by concrete posts. You think your exit is blocked so turn around and look for another way. There is none so have to manoeuvre your way through, not what you need after attending a funeral.

Should have had the gin experience but they gave us the prosecco. Sandwiches and savouries were really nice. We took the sweets and cakes home with us. They were stale and very unappetising. The waitress appeared uncertain of what we required. We were seated in the window where it was too hot. The sun was direct into my eyes, I had to move.

Wonderful afternoon tea, a gift for mothers day from son and daughter in law for mothers day, staff very friendly and attentive had our 1 year old granddaughter with us and did everything to accommodate her, best afternoon tea ever had made a change to have lots off savoury choices aswell as sweet great value for money thankyou 0

Had a lovely lunch here today with old work friends. We all had the steak and chips with blue cheese and I have to say it was the beautiful. Was served by a few staff and all were great especially the tall dishy waiter. Loved the pudding. The prices here are excellent. At £12.50 for a lovely steak represents excellent value for money. The setting is stunning and only a stones throw from Mansfield. The tables are well spaced apart. Will have to bring our dogs on a Wednesday. Hope to be back soon.

Lovely setting in the wood. It was my first time at Forever Green despite being a local. There were four of us. Everybody's food looked good. I had quiche, which wasn't especially out of the ordinary but good value for home cooked food, and I'd definitely return to try something else. In fact I really want to try the breakfast. It is a pity they do not open at weekends.

Visited for a Christmas Party. Food was Medicare bland and dry. Myself and my friend both have potentially life threatening allergies however this was not acknowledged at all by the venue or the staff. My friend who has a nut allergy had a dessert served to her which she had not ordered and which contained nuts. Staff need adequate training on food allergies and the company need to take responsibility for their actions which could potentially result in a prosecution

I had the Indian flavoured salmon today. Sadly it had so much spice on it that it was inedible. When I raised this with a waitress I was told I should have expected that from the name of the dish. (We eat Indian food regularly and this was up there with vindaloo!) It was sad to see the confrontational behaviour shown by the waitress. It’s not the experience we went for and we won’t be going back. We have been here before but something clearly has gone wrong here this year judging by recent reviews.

To the owner of this business - you should be extremely worried about your business being run into the ground!!!!!!!

We had a lovely lunch served by a lovely young lady with a friendly smile. Unfortunately the older female staff were not quite as friendly. In fact I observed unprofessional behaviour as they rudely chastised the young waitress for taking the wrong order, when in fact it was the older lady her self. Please smile and be welcoming otherwise it puts customers right off

Came for lunch today and sat outside on the shady benches overlooking the forest. Our food was delicious- served hot and promptly! Lovely relaxing atmosphere.

We booked a table for 2-15 pm for lunch. Arrived on time. After waiting over 45 minutes for our meal, it final arrived after we had to remind a waitress. On arrival at the restaurant the waitress was not helpful at all, regarding any advise on the wine or food. Poorly trained staff. Although the food was nice when it finally arrived. It was thrown in front of us. POOR SERVICE. Any way after finishing our meal which would about 3-30pm. We ask if we can see the sweet menu. The waitress reply was no because there no time for sweets because we close at 4-00pm. Need less to say we didn’t get a sweet even though there was 30 minutes before closing. After paying the bill on leaving. We mention to a guy behind the bar in a white coat, wether he was the chief or manager, we were disappointed we couldn’t have a sweet to finish our meal. His reply was “ that’s how it is” and his reply was not bothered if we didn’t come again. What can I say to that response. Is that any way to run a restaurant. Be interesting to see if I get a honest reply

Paid in full in advance a couple of months ago. As I was about to drive down from Newcastle I phoned to check the time I'd booked only to be told my booking had been cancelled as they had received a better offer to cater for a couple of funerals. They didn't take my details when I made my booking so decided just to get rid of us. Don't bother booking in advance as it means nothing.

Absolutely terrible service. Paid in full a couple of months in advance, phoned up on the morning of the booking to be told they had cancelled it as the had a better offer with more covers so had cancelled my Mother's 90th birthday tea. What a way to treat customers.

Had a short business meeting here recently and it's very well presented, staff are friendly and prices aren't astronomical. Only had a coffee, but the environment is very nice and I'm sure if you are a local business or visiting a local business, this is a great place to come. Unfortunately I did not try any food, but the aroma of the cooked food was very nice.

This restaurant is in a lovely setting in a small woodland copse down a small road, it is very peaceful here. The building is modern steel framed with high ceilings, huge picture windows and the tables afford great views of the woods. Everything internally is beautifully finished and high quality. There are interesting garden ornaments and many birds and squirrels.There is plenty of out door seating too. We went for mid week lunch and were greeted and seated very quickly. The food was very tasty and well presented, we ordered the beef stew. The downs were that it took us 10 minutes to get a waitresses attention as the 3 staff were busy, some cleaning and some chatting. The food was tasty but the veg were hard. I understand this is personal taste but for me it rather spoiled it. The beef was variable in the dish, some bits lovely and tender but 30% were tough. I had 2 large pieces of gristle that I had, in the end, to spit out. The Pepsi was flat, we did get a full refund for this though with no argument so just an observation. Would I recommend this place, absolutely, and I will go back. Just let down by a few small details and I suspect we were just a little unlucky. I believe there is also a meeting room and you can hire the entire venue for events. Parking was good.

Its nice to drop in for a snack or a coffee but if you are planting trees afterwards with Sherwood Forest Trust don't forget to move your vehicle as you get your hands and face smacked by the owner who waits all day for the opportunity. Not realising we were going to go back in for food and drink prior to being told off otherwise the service is good and the prices reasonable.

We enjoyed a lovely tasty lunch. This place is lovely. Good atmosphere amongst the trees. Staff were very welcoming and enjoyed exceptional customer service. We will be back. Good energies.

I attended a wake here. It is in a wooded setting, a perfect peaceful place. Lovely food and staff.

We had afternoon tea for 6 last week, but was very disappointed, as we expected a proper afternoon tea with sandwiches, salad, savories like pork pie, sausage rolls and scones with jam and cream, but what we got was a few sandwiches only a tiny bit of lettuce and onion for one person, onion bhajis and samosas and a few other spicy bits not sure what they were and then a few small squares of carrot cake and brownies, no scones with jam and cream, but it was only booked because of the photos of afternoon tea on the website looked lovely with scones, meringues and pork pie so needs to put different photo up of the afternoon tea they offered us not traditional one at all very disappointed, but the place was lovely and the other food looked nice.

Eat inside this beautiful restaurant, or dine out side, watching the numerous birds and wildlife all around you, what a fantastic time we had there.

Absolutely awful place! The staff are rude and extremely unhelpful! I was a frequent visitor when two lovely ladies worked there a few years back. It was faultless and I would have recommended it to everyone. Unfortunately those ladies aren't there anymore and things seem to have spiraled out of control. I have never seen such rude and disorganised staff that can't even perform the simplest of tasks (which is probably due to the amount of time gossiping and playing on devices whilst on duty!). I would 100% NOT recommend visiting this place..... at least until they get their staff under control!!! Not impressed..
