Spoons is a fantastic spot for a night out, offering affordable drinks that won’t break the bank. It can get quite busy, especially on weekends, but that’s part of the charm. The atmosphere is lively, and the excellent, fun staff make it even better. A special shout-out to Christian, who made our experience memorable with his humor and helpfulness. The pub food is great and offers good value for money. I highly recommend the scampi – it’s delicious! One of the best features of Spoons is that they don’t play music, which I prefer because it means I can actually hear my conversations. Overall, Spoons is a top choice for a casual, enjoyable night out. Highly recommended!

One of my usual haunts so I’m familiar with its pluses and minuses. But I am annoyed by its hit-and-miss WiFi service for guests. It’s been out of service for coming up to two weeks now. It was also out for about three weeks in March/April. Then, as now, no notification to staff about the outage or its expected resolution.

It's a Wetherspoon's they tend to vary drastically. Food was acceptable but service took longer than expected (via mobile app). One downside was the lack of monitoring of the "non-smoking," outside area. Once the smoking area was full people used this as an overflow, or they just lit up at their table believing it was outside so was "fine". More policing of this is required, especially where people are able to order food outside.

1st and last time at this pub. Waited for 20 minutes at the bar for service and had to place the order twice as the barman forgot to input in to the computer. Worst pub I have been to in London. Very busy as Friday night but woefully short staffed.

One of the most frustrating places I visit a few times per year. The practice of handling 1 customer transaction from start to finish before acknowledging anyone else (not unique to Weatherspons) is a complete turn off for customers. If you survive that experience the ‘Who’s Next’ question to the 20 people baying on the other side of the bar is a complete head wrecker. In fairness, the alternative of ordering through the app works really well and is one of the best endorsements for AI that I’ve come across. The app has personally and doesn’t cause you to become frustrated. In contrast, I have only good observations and things to say about the floor staff. Hardworking, efficient and personable

we arrived onfriday 15th and just managed to nab the last table,the place being rammed solid.we were suprised how quick we were served drinks and only had to wait a few minutes for our food to arrive which was e very good. i must congratulate all the staff who were run off there feet ,but the service was efficiant and also they all had a smile as they served you.an excellent night out. thank you

Cheap Pub. Everything is cheaper than most other pubs in the area. When saving money outweighs all else and you’re in a hotel nearby, try here. If you don’t have to worry about spending money, you should probably try something else.

Ate here on a busy Saturday evening pre theatre. I have reviewed here before and had a totally different experience. This time has changed my opinion in a good way. food was hot and tasty and received exceptional service all evening. Credit where credit is due

I put in a complaint about a very unprofessional barmaid to head office, who refused to share the feedback information with me. This suggests to me that basically they may not actually look into this. I wrote to the manager at the Wibbas, I also emailed her, and again never received the curtesy of a response. I then telephoned and spoke to the manageress who promised to look into the matter but has since ignored my emails for what action (if any) has been taken. Basically, the actions of that particular unprofessional barmaid could easily have caused me to have a physical altercation with a customer who was much younger and probably fitter then myself who was standing next to me waiting to be served . (I Iam 65 years old with heart problems and have never made a complaint in my entire life) I guess that this sums up the poor skills of not only the management of this public house but also the appalling service of the head office staff could perhaps condone the barmaid's behavior? I would suggest that a more formal system is implemented to ensure that whoever, is next in line to be served is made very aware to the staff. I live in hope!

Wetherspoons can be hit or miss with some. This pub is perhaps one of the more better "spoons" in terms of appearances and is quite spacious but apart from that, it's nothing to write home about.

I asked questions about the food because of my dietary restrictions and was told the bar lady couldn’t disclose that information and that I need to read the menu?????!!!! Then when I tried to order the first 4 vegan dishes I wanted were not available. Then when my food came, my vegan burger came with an unidentified sauce- I asked and it wasn’t vegan. No vegan alternative available. Dreadful food, service and staff attitudes. AVOID.

There is so much to love about the Weatherspoon model and their effort to serve Customers at the lowest cost. There is no excuse however for ridiculously poor bar service and in this the Wibbas Down Inn excels. During my last visit on Dec 28th I dropped in for a quick drink and snack. I joined one of the clusters gathered at a till and waited for my turn to order. Time after time I was by passed by more clever queue jumpers. The bar management strategy seems to be to let the customers fight it out. “Who’s next?” If the bar staff are not going to manage this service and continue to remain single dimensional, then a more formal Q management system would not go amiss to cater for the less assertive customer. After 20 mins of waiting to be served and witnessing this comedy show I just left the building. Whoever manages this bar needs to take a look at the process incl staff training. In fairness, there is the option to order from the app.

Like many people we paid this pub a visit before going to the theatre just across the road. What impressed us most was the friendliness and efficiency of the barman called Duncan. There was a queue at the bar where orders were taken for both drinks and food and this chap was superb at multi-tasking by processing the orders for both at great speed. As for the food side, it was delivered in good time, it was tasty and great value for money. Thank you!

We stopped in here before a show @ The New Wimbledon Theatre before the 14:30 show. Due to transport issues, we got to area 30 minutes later than planned & was worried we wouldn't get to relax & unwind from the journey! But we needn't have had those thoughts as we had plenty of time, as we got served with our drinks @ the bar very promptly, & found a large choice of tables to choose from. Wifey had a large Sauvignon Blanc whilst I had a pint of Hobgoblin Ruby Ale from the large selection of real ales available. We doubled up the order to save a bit of time. We both weren't disappointed with our drinks & were very satisfied. We also ordered a small plate of spicy chicken wings (10) using the J.D.W. app once we were seated. We shared these & they certainly filled the gap in our stomachs. The pub is massive & can accommodate quite a few hundred people in what I could see is a L shaped footprint inside. All round a very enjoyable experience here considering it was a midweek lunchtime. We would recommend this establishment to everyone being in the area.

We have recently had several dreadful meals in Witherspoons in Bath and Bristol and out of necessity used this bar in Wimbledon. What a refreshing surprise. The food was of a really high standard. The staff were excellent. Clearly the management do a good job as the tables were constantly cleared and bar service was very quick. I highly recommend this particular Witherspoons.

Just been here, for a meal, we both had the fish and chips, ABSOLUTELY GREAT!!, really good portion of fish, cooked to perfection!!, could not fault it, especially given the price paid!!.

I only drink here so can’t comment on food. The staff are fantastic and go out of their way to make things efficient. The pub is very clean and the toilets immaculate. Beer lines cleaned daily. Very refreshing for a Wetherspoon establishment.

I’ve been a regular at this spoons for a while now and it’s always a great time! The staff are always really lovely and helpful - especially Tom! He consistently has a positive attitude and recommends great gins and is always happy to get some napkins or anything else I need for me. The vegan nuggets are always great and the atmosphere of the pub never fails. My friends and I love coming here and you always meet nice people :)

Dont bother going ! You may pay a couple of pounds less than other places close by but it would be more than worth paying the extra elsewhere to avoid this awful establishment. Table stinking & sticky, barged in to members of staff, the menu practically stuck to my fingers. This was front of house I hate to think what state the kitchen is in. Still it was my first time in here, I persisted anyway & went to the bar to order. At the bar I was met (I wont use the term greeted as because that infers some sort of human based acknowledgement) by a member of staff who clearly didn't want to be any where the place (just like the patrons I imagine) I was asked "What ?" to which I replied I beg your pardon. What can I get she huffed, well perhaps some courtesy & a smile perhaps would be good, at which point she walked away swaering & muttering under her breath. Although I changed my mind & went to walk out I did ask to speak to a manager at was told in no uncertain terms that I would have to go off & find one at the other end of the pub, eventually Brandon came over with an expression on his face & look in his eyes as vacant as the brain of reality TV star...He trotted out training objection handling rubbish to me with hope that I would be impressed by this...I wasnt I left !! & will NEVER go back & will actively advise as many people I know to avoid the place totally, I will be doing them a favour...DO NOT GO THERE

Typical spoons which is massive, 1 entrance near the car park and another by the theatre. Plenty of seating. Good value and good selection of drinks.

This is not the place to nurse a hangover on a Sunday morning. Screaming kids everywhere. They should extend the breakfast until the early afternoon so you can have a sleep in. The traditional cooked breakfast was ok. Nice and cheap.

This large pub was bustling with trade on the three midweek occasions we called in. The pub was clean and the drinks of excellent quality - each time we had an enjoyable few drinks before moving on. Service at the bar was slightly vague - as if the differing bar staff were slightly distracted/unsettled. Not a criticism, more of an observation. Bar pricing gave great value for a London pub. Overall I liked it - and although we visit London infrequently - we will be back for sure!

This is a huge pub and is great as loads are. Great beers, super range of gins, great service....could do with someone just clearing tables but hey that's part of why the prices are so cheap..If you going to theatre they do interval ordering too....

Emily served us all throughout the night, was very attentive and extremely friendly. We had an amazing night largely down to Emily's customer service.

Good news is staff as always friendly and helpful and bar service fast and efficient. Unfortunately food is pretty terrible, over cooked in the microwave. Oily and tasteless.

Food is good and reasonably priced. However on visiting today the ladies toilets left a lot to be desired!!. Obviously hadn't been cleaned all day. Not very good in a food establishment!!

The Real Ale Festival is a great event making it well worth putting up with the noise and chaos, BUT there are problems. (1) You need more bar staff at busy times, ensure there is always someone at the bar so customers are not kept waiting (2) acknowledge and serve customers in order of arrival ("be right with you sir!") ("this gentleman was next!") (3) mention the Real Ale Festival on your website and give the dates!! (4) explain to the staff that you serve thirds! (they are unaware), continue to serve thirds outside the festival and have an even wider choice of microbrews at all times.

I’ve lived in Wimbledon all my life and often came to this Wetherspoon’s when I was younger. However, my visit yesterday was an outrageous experience. I was with my sister, friend and two toddlers (2&3yrs). The kids ate first. I went to the bar to order an ice cream each for them for dessert and a couple of tikka masalas and cokes for us adults. I waited for nearly half an hour while one solitary bar maid (theatre entrance side bar) worked desperately to serve throngs of people gathering and getting restless around the bar (understaffed). I kept trying to get her attention as she didn’t seem to care a jot about serving people in any sort of order. Bloke after bloke came up ordering pints. Eventually, she thought to radio for help. Another woman server joined but immediately started serving any one who’d arrived at the bar, without bothering to attempt to do it in any order. Then the real fun started.

We visited here every night of our stay for food as it was very reasonably priced as well as drink compared to other areas in London. Food was good, service was quick and the place was tidy. For a spoons it was great.

The place is spacious and the environment is friendly. Breakfast is awesome at a very affordable price. It gets really busy and sometimes you have to wait to order for a drink. The only - to this place is that They don’t show any sports.

My wife and I popped into The Wibbas Down yesterday for a quick bite before the theatre yesterday and were quite frankly disappointed with the standard and presentation of the food.

By any standards this is a clean pub, by Wetherspoons standards its outstanding. They could do with more staff but those they have appeared to be working as hard as they could. It's not their fault Wetherspoons cuts corners. Even the usual Wetherspoons Brexit was notable by its absence.

Very nice Wetherspoons pub. It's very roomy with plenty of seating. It can get quite busy in the evenings and on weekends, as it's a popular local hangout, but it's usually empty-ish for weekday breakfast and lunches.

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Good laugh, and met some nice people to boot. If you want a nice cheap evening outside London, then the Wibbas is the place for you.

Habiendo caminado alrededor de Wimbledon un sábado por la mañana buscando un café independiente, nos decepcionó que no pudiéramos encontrar uno aparte de los típicos cafés de cadena. Pero nos encontramos con The Wibbas Down Inn, que se sintió muy acogedor tan pronto como entramos. El gran desayuno era delicioso y las recargas gratis para cafés y tés. We decided to go to Wimbledon and have breakfast out and glad we did as we spotted this by chance as wanted to go somewhere that did a good breakfast. Being a vegetarian the menu for breakfast looked really good. Decided to have the vegetarian breakfast and hubby had the normal breakfast and you can go up as much as you like for hot drinks. The price was great and the food was delicious and very filling. Great bar staff and will definitely go in again for breakfast

Fui al bar para tomar unas copas por la tarde con amigos y también fui al bar. Las bebidas de mis amigos estaban bien, pero los moretti que pedí se acabaron. La camarera entonces llamó al gerente, quien apenas la ayudó a decirle que usara otra bomba ya que los moretti se habían agotado, ¡pero en lugar de deshacerse de lo que intentó bombear, simplemente la llenó con la cerveza de otra bomba! ! ! Luego tratamos de encontrar un asiento, pero todos los vacíos cerca del frente tenían platos y vasos vacíos, lo cual no fue útil. El inodoro cercano se había inundado, así que tuve que viajar a la mitad del pub para usar los otros inodoros y cuando llegó la segunda ronda, Moretti ya había parado, decidimos irnos. took 15mins to get a table wiped clean, and even after being cleaned the table still had crumbs of food left onit. staff totally disinterested. hate to think what the kitchen is like!

We normally use this pub every year as a get together for 10 friends. This year the bar service was appalling. Lack of interest, poor serving and general disinterest. Unfortunately we will have to find somewhere else for our get together next year.

Now I visit alot of weatherspoons... who dosent... But I must say nagy made this place great, looked after the bar himself while making sure we had a great time. Very impressed... appreciate him. Many thanks nagy, all the best and see you soon

I’ve found it very disappointing that twice I’ve been here with friends recently where they’ve clearly asked for their meals to come without some of the sides/salad in the burger and this has been completely ignored.

We were there mid morning before going to the cricket. Placed an order via the app, 10 minutes later still no drinks so i went to the bar and they had no track of it. We decided to order food but went to the bar to do it, 30 minutes later still no food. We went to the bar and they hadn't given the order to the kitchens. 15 minutes later and the order finally turned up but they had my friends breakfast order completly wrong. By this time we had to go so he wasn't able to eat. They did refund the money but still, complete waste of an hour and a half. Staff were totally dis-interested too

Siempre usamos Wibbas por Inn cuando tenemos un viaje de Teatro (teatro de Wimbledon está enfrente) y nunca me ha decepcionado con nada, la comida y la bebida es muy buena relación calidad-precio y el personal, aunque muy lleno era atento y profesional. Quand on va manger là-bas il ne faut pas espérer une cuisine gatronomique mais c'est très largement satisfaisant au vu des prix pratiqués. Les plats sont très corrects, voire bons et des prix imbattables. Une très bonne brasserie

We often come to this Pub Restaurant as it is a favorite of my 88yo Dad's, but recently it has all gone downhill. On the last 5 occasions, there has never been any fish left or today was because it hadn't been left to defrost from last night, which means we have to chose something else as we are already sitting down. The new menu is now 15% more expensive and the amount of chips we both got today was laughable. The staff again are all new and it is now just an average place with expensive Wimbledon priced food. Such a shame.

We have been there last saturday with a group of friends with small children. We were there about 2 pm and found a large space close to the street side (İnside) which was enough to accomodate us all. The food was acceptable and the service was very satisfactory. There are plenty of dishes and beers you can choose from. The good side of this pub is there are plenty of areas that you can select depending on your crowd, mood and favour. The staff were very nice and polite. I put it in my list of london pubs...:)

The price for the beer is very cheap and the quality is good. Anyway is a place with look old but very very big. Nice bar

We thought we'd try this for Sunday brunch (late breakfast technically).

My colleagues and I came to The Wibbas Down Inn for our Christmas work drinks (I for the first time) and thoroughly enjoyed myself. It was much larger than I had anticipated but was warm and had a great atmosphere. The bar staff were totally on point with the service. They were fluid with the service; its like they were in sync with everything. My drinks (rum punch pitchers) were well balanced (alcohol, mixer and ice ratio); and were really great with the orders and kept their cool when we asked for less of ice. Great hot and tasty food was flowing through from the kitchen with ease, arriving in perfect time at my table hot. I ordered the 10 wings with dips and the prawns with sweet chilli sauce. Those sexy wings were hot and crunchy and spicy with flavour and my colleagues and I devoured everything. I am impressed with the order to table time considering it were busy! The prawns with the sweet chilli sauce were delish and that 3 dishes offer for £10 is brilliant. We ordered the wings and prawns dishes I think 3 or 4 times, totally worth it. It was just what we needed!! The table staff were attentive. My table was cleared with a smile and speed.

The turkey lunch was tender but it was not an actual breast of turkey. It was from a turkey roll. As the people were old this worked quite well!

70% of staff are unsmiling, charmless and unfriendly. Probably because they are paid peanuts.

This is a typical Wetherspoons pub. It's located in the centre of Wimbledon, directly opposite Wimbledon Theatre. Because of this it has now become our preferred choice when looking for somewhere to eat before going to a show. Service is usually very quick, so you're never clock watching hoping that you get your meal in time to be able to eat it before going to the theatre. Far too many 'proper restaurants' can't cope and we've left without eating all of our meal.

Come here regularly as it is my local. Absolutely horrible service. Cheap but not worth it. Came in at about 10pm and spent a fair deal of money over the bar. Last bell went at 12am. Then given 5 minutes to drink up and leave. Don't serve until 12am if you then give everyone 4 minutes to down a drink to then leave. When I went to the toilet my friend was approached with a near full drink by a bouncer telling her to leave. When she explained her friend was in the toilet she had the response 'well you are not 5 I'm sure you can wait outside'. In my opinion an extremely rude way to talk to a regular and paying customer. Safe to say I will be changing where I drink from now on!

Great food and drink for the price, especially Theme nights, have been using Tuesday Club (Steak night ) for over ten years.

I felt as though I was disturbing the young barman, as I ordered my Curry Club meal. Only the second staff member, who checked if all was well with me, was pleasant. Lovely spacious place. The food quality was good too. This review could so easily have been positive with just a little customer service.

Me and my boyfriend have been going to this pub for a while now. Always been average, but the other day put me off. I asked for Rosè and they "didn't have any" I could see it in the fridge, lots of it!!? The queues are mental and it's always busy. It's alright but better places around.

Walked in this evening for a quick meal and drink, place was about near full but food times weren't that long. Found a single table near the door and then went up to the bar to order. A woman with a plate of food came up after asking for bar staff to put it in a takeaway box so being kind, I let her go before me. Whilst the bartender went to the kitchen, a couple of groups of lads came in and waited at the bar. The bartender came back and served two others and then the group of guys firs, during which my table was taken by someone else. Waited at least 10 minutes at the bar without even being spoken to by a member of staff! Not impressed!

We had after work dinner and drinks here. The service was slow and really isn't up to par the staff need training. Food eventual arrived and was ok. It is very good value for money though.

Went to this pub after seeing a friend in a show in the next door Wibledon Theatre. Didn't check my ID and I got in and bought a drink . Noticed that for a Friday night it was half empty and many tables had half drunk or barely started drinks on them and was vacant. My friend turned up with a group of friends and cast, He is over 30 but played a 40 year old without make up had a full bushy beard and obviously over 21. He did not have ID so could not get in while others could. We all left the bar and my barelt started drink. We were a group of about 15 so thats a lot a business lost. We went to the O'neils down the road who were sensible and we got in without trouble. It was just only after 9pm so not late night either.Suggest if you are meeting peole wait outside first before buying adrinka s you may not all get in. Staff were not friendly at all either. Maybe they had trouble in the past which is another reason not to go.

The staff seem to have a very laid back attitude when it comes to maintaining the pub. We sat outside next to a reasonably major road and bus station (beautiful hum of constant diesel engines on a sunny day) only to find ourselves having to clear our own table of the previous group's drinks. I've always fancied a bit of bar work so it was good practice. One thing you can always rely on with a spoons is the price however, I'll happily clear a table if it means my pint is less than £3. Aside from that, it's a bog standard no frills pub, the most interesting part was that we discovered you can walk all the way through it and end up outside the theatre.

I regularly visit this pub for weekend breakfasts. Always ask for hot bacon - if not it's either cold or lukewarm. Always ask for runny eggs otherwise they're plasticky from being under lights. Usually not an issue. Wetherspoon's are usually good quality and great value.This visit had to send breakfast back as eggs were not runny. Could hear the kitchen staff complaining from across the pub! Then the breakfast came back out the bacon was cold -so got the bar staff to take the bacon away and heat it up - again lots of noise from the kitchen.The pub is closing for a week for a refurb -great time to train the kitchen staff on professionalism!The pub can get busy with the theatre crowd but not at 10:30am on a Sunday. Not usually a bad experience but this time it was truly awful. No care or pride taken.

Wanting to eat quickly before visiting the nearby theatre my husband and I visited this Wetherspoons. I am not a great fan of Wetherspoons but know that, usually, they do reasonable food. Suffice to say we will NOT be visiting this particular one again. Firstly the staff were slow to serve and did not appear to know what they were doing!!! It was chicken night and we asked for two of the meals from that menu - chicken dish, chips and drink for £7.15. The bill came to £15.10. Now when I was at school (admittedly a long time ago) 2 x £7.15 came to £14.30. When I queried this I was told it was because I had had a large white wine (250ml instead of 175ml) - my husband had not asked for anything other than a white wine and had not been asked for a size. Secondly when the food arrived the staff did not seem to know where the table was, despite us having given them the number and were wandering around for quite some time before realising that it was our table, meaning the food was not as hot as it might have been. Thirdly I had to point out to them that one of the chairs at our table was dangerously close to collapsing, as I found when I sat on it. Overall not a good experience

I have always had good experiences there. Staff are frienfly and well trained, with good quality food.

My husband and I like to end our long walks across West London at this Wetherspoon pub. It's probably one of the best examples of good cheap food and beer :)The staff are friendly, its clean and very welcoming. It does however get very busy...so be prepared to look for a table. We have never not managed to find one. But if you are looking for a quiet romantic spot...you won't find it here. It's full of people talking and having fun. A really great atmosphere.The steak is good here, as is the fish. And with lots of dinner options that include an alcoholic drink with them, it's amazing value!If you want a great value lunch / dinner and don't mind the bustle of a busy (but friendly) pub, then try this place.

It's a nice building. It has two entrances - one next to Wimbledon Theatre, the other at the other side of the block a bit closer to the Town Centre. The interior is a kind of an S-Shape with the bar easily accessible from either entrance.The bar service is good here - very friendly and helpful. The food is also above average for a Wetherspoons. For once my steak was cooked properly rare and my husband's eyes practically lit up at the amount of fish and chips delivered!I have to say that the standard of the gents' loos leaves a bit to be desired though. Not the best maintained or serviced I've ever experienced. But aside from that, the place is comfortable enough with a good range of drinks, all within a reasonble walking distance from the train station and main bus stops.

This really started off as a tram trip for me as transport is one of my several hobbies and, being near Croydon, it was too good an opportunity to miss. So, under the guise of taking my dear wife out to lunch, we boarded a tram and headed for Wimbledon, a place I had not yet visited. The journey was quite pleasant and only took about half an hour for us to arrive at Wimbledon main line station, which the tram shares with its larger cousins. I am not really a fan of modern electronics, being brought up in the steam age, but my lovely wife worked magic with her I - Phone and came up with the name and location of this particular establishment which, after speaking to a helpful local, we found without further problems. My main reason for choosing Weatherspoons is that you can usually rely upon the quality of the food and drink which I consider essential if you really are unfamiliar with the area.We entered through what we thought was the front door and began to look around for a suitable table. As we searched further so the pub began to grow before our very eyes and that was before we had had any alcohol! It seemed to go round in a large U-shape and we eventually came across a second large bar. Thinking that this may be a mirage we took seats at table 8 and looked at the menu. Having decided, I was called to the bar and placed our food order. I was ordering a pint of Strongbow Dark Fruit for my wife when it occurred to me that, for once, I was not driving, and could imbibe myself. I choose a pint of Shipyard pale ale which went very nicely with my meal. I think that the beer must have been good as I cannot actually remember what we had , but I know it was good. We did a little bit of shopping after lunch and retraced our steps to the tram and had another enjoyable but uneventful ride home. Wimbledon seemed a pleasant town to visit , although I would suggest that you avoid the crowds during the tennis season.

Popped in for a drink, and this must be the biggest pub I've ever been in. Bought two pints, including a normally expensive (at the brewery) Wimbledon ale, and got change out of £5. Despite being before 5pm, there was not a spare table that was not covered in debris from previous diners. The beer was wet, there isn't much more I can say, but I'd sooner pay twice the price for something I'd want to drink. A second pint of a different "craft" beer was still cheap and unremarkable - I suggest they need to clean their pipes more regularly as well as their tables. That said, I have paid more than double elsewhere and not have been impressed with the beer, so perhaps pubs need to up their game.
