Excellent food, very friendly staff. Great find and I will be back.

We popped in for lunch the Panini's are well worth the money, larger than expected with a nice side salad and coleslaw. Staff are friendly and happy to help whether you are visiting Carlisle or in town for shopping pop in you won't be disappointed. Just a stone throw away from the Cathedral, Carlisle Castle and Tullie House Museum.

First time visit here today for my wife and I , we managed to get in and find a table before the lunchtime rush. It is without doubt , Fantastic . The Food was Delicious and the service was excellent it's definitely nownumber 1 on our list of places to have lunch in Carlisle 👍🏻

Called in for a coffee and sandwich whilst visiting Carlisle. The staff were lovely and the food was excellent. Generous portions we had the egg mayo sandwich and club sandwich.

Had an awesome breakfast this morning before our long drive home to Hampshire.l had the omelette packed with bacon, mushrooms and tomatoes.Ian had the luxury breakfast which included haggis! Tea in a teapot too! Very friendly efficient staff! Obviously very popular, people came in for their 'usual'! A real community place. It was great to support a local business!! Thank you very much!

We had previously tried to go here on at least 5 different occasions, but each time all tables were occupied. On this occasion we arrived at 11.45 am and were lucky to find there was a table available. It was definitely worth persevering and can now understand why it is always so busy. The food was delicious and freshly made. There was a choice of three homemade soups (2 of which were vegetarian). The BLT served in white bloomer was exceptionally good. Every member of staff we encountered were all so friendly, courteous and efficient.. It is without doubt, in my opinion, the best place in Carlisle for lunch and we have tried many.

What a gorgeous cafe! The chai latte was great and toastie with meringue with fresh fruit delicious. Lovely staff.

Top quality bakery/cafe - quite busy and understandably so. Check for days of opening, the cafe isn’t open every day.

I had an absolutely wonderful breakfast experience! Everything is made with fresh ingredients, and you could truly taste the quality in every bite. The cakes are all freshly baked and delicious, definitely a must-try. The customer service as always friendly, attentive, and welcoming, making the whole visit even more enjoyable. And let’s not forget the coffee—always amazing! If you’re looking for a place that serves up delicious food with great service and an unbeatable cup of coffee, this is it! Highly recommend. What was once a very enjoyable & affordable hidden gem of a local cafe in a back street in Carlisle has, through the power of Tripadvisor, suddenly become known to a global audience and - perhaps, understandably, has adjusted its prices in response to its enhanced reputation. The very tasty full English breakfast with a hot or cold drink will now set you back £16.50 - which is a bit much for most mortals looking for a Saturday morning brunch treat whilst out shopping...

Great little coffee/lunch venue in centre of Carlisle.

Started my day in Carlisle with an excellent bacon barm and cup of tea. Enjoyed it so much that we went back later for an equally excellent piece of cake and scone.

Honestly the best breakfast I’ve ever eaten, scrambled egg with chives and smoked salmon on brown bread. Hate dry eggs but this was perfect. Great service and so friendly. So good we had to take our cakes to go as we were so full! Highly recommended

Always go here for our baguette to take out I walk from the other end off town for them as they are so good really fresh crusty baguette with lovely fresh filling I always get Brie bacon and cranberry it so tasty any my friend gets chicken mayo big chunks off chicken in a creamy mayo and fresh crunchy salad there a good selection off cake the cafe is always busy but customer service is always spot on it our little bit off heaven for your lunch break take away or sit in this is the place to go

Love this little place tucked away off the main street but very close to the Cathedral. Its small but perfect, with a wide choice of food, fabulous specials and the best soups around. Friendly service and lovely atmosphere with lots of returning customers who the staff recognise and welcome which is lovely. Highly recommend this lovely independent if you haven't tried it try it and go for a soup they are so good, we've been back several times👌

Came upon this great cafe while on a day trip to Carlisle, from our weeks holiday in Keswick. Food was excellent - we had ham hero sandwich, bbq panini, bacon Brie panini and gorgeous homemade soup. All tasty- the side salad with the sarny was best side salad I’ve had after a week of cafes lunches in lakes. Nice friendly service🙂

Visited this lovely cafe today with my mum and we couldn't have been happier with everything really! Very welcome, lovely food, especially the scones! Coffee was perfect and made just how I like it. We'll be back and will recommend to others.

Top service buzzy busy excellent quality and quantity food and made on site. What's not to like! Short wait for a table but no biggie. We ordered soups with haggis and cheddar scones...yum!

We stopped in today to miss a rain shower & it was an amazing find. We had soup, a panini & quiche followed by cake, every last bite was amazing. Love that they have a choice of coffee blends to suit different tastes too. Lovely place to eat & cannot recommend enough. Without a doubt we will be back. ❤️

Really friendly staff and lovely lunch menu. I had a soup and panini and cannot fault either the service or the food. Shame I’m not local, or I would be back regularly.

What a lovely find! The most delicious gelato served with a smile 😊 I had mango and raspberry and they were both really fruity and with a lovely texture: smooth and rich. Was also offered to try honeycomb, which was top notch too. My husband had cake and it was also delightful. Can't recommend it enough if you're in Carlisle. The guys certainly take pride in what they do and so they should!

Visited Carlisle and checked Trip Advisor for the best cafe and this one showed up. It was so nice. We both had lentil and bacon soup with a different panini each for £9.95. Great mug of latte each. Cakes looked fab but we were full up. Service was excellent. Young, pleasant man served us. Would highly recommend!

A great cafe in the middle of Carlisle, with a really friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The coffee, breakfast and service were all excellent. The ice creams looked great but sadly it was a little early in the day to try one. I will definitely return next time I am in Carlisle.

Lovely little Cafe serving hot and cold snacks, homemade cakes, and a good mug of latte. Staff are absolutely lovely and the cafe is nicely decorated and super clean. Would definitely recommend for a morning coffee or nice light lunch.

This is my favourite eatery in Carlisle. Food always beautifully presented and tastes delicious. Today I had a jacket potato with Cajun chicken, red onion and cheese, with side salad and home made creamy coleslaw and a pot of tea. Staff are lovely and everything is cooked freshly on the premises. Give it a try, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

The balance of the quality of food , the service, and the value for money in comparison to the lake district cafes make this the best cafe in cumbria. It's better than the award winning cafes we have eaten in.

Usually pop in here for a toasted panini or sandwich if we’re in town. It’s always busy but the staff are so friendly and the food is freshly made. I try to spend my money in independent stores and this is family owned and it shows. A real gem.

Lovely fresh bacon and sausage buns. Nice clean cafe and very approachable hosts. We'll be back when we next in Carlisle.

We each ordered the chicken and noodle soup which was served with fennel bread. Beautiful flavours: absolutely delicious. This was followed by a generous piece of carrot cake which had a lovely light texture. Excellent food and coffee, spotlessly clean and very friendly, helpful staff. We highly recommend this wonderful independent cafe.

This is my favourite cafe in Carlisle for lunch. Delicious soups and paninis and club sandwiches. The cakes look good as well although I'm usually too full to indulge! Friendly service and cozy feeling make for a lovely experience.

We rocked up 1 minute after opening and our host looked after us perfectly! Breakfast was delicious, coffee spot on and the music just right to start the day. Great little cafe - keep it up and we'll definitely be back when in Carlisle.

We visited here after reading the great reviews, we were not disappointed. The staff are very welcoming and helpful. We chose the Cheese & Chive Scones, they were delicious, the extra cheese made them very special. Well worth finding if you are visiting Carlisle.

Stopped by for a quick lunch before heading to the train station. Friendly service, the staff were lovely, and the paninis we had were tasty! Would try again because the soup they had smelled great 🤤

Wonderful breakfast. Latte was great as were the quiches on two separate days. Scones were also excellent and the wait staff was very attentive. The best breakfast in Carlisle!

A very nice cafe in a good location. The cheese scones are good, and the addition of some grated cheddar was a nice touch.

Dropped in here to a very friendly welcome, very reasonably priced and great quality on all that we had. Would have been 5 stars, but unfortunately a few of our choices were not available. It was our fourth good choice from the menu that they could do. That said what we had was great and the staff were very pleasant.

As always a beautiful full breakfast served with bloomer toast, breakfast tea and excellent coffee. The staff are lovely and the atmosphere is great. Very clean and quality produce too. A must for me and my family.

Whyte's was the 4th cafe I tried for a cooked breakfast and I'm glad the first 3 weren't serving. It was really busy but all the staff were polite and friendly and went out of their way to the needs of all the customers I saw arriving after me. The food was very tasty, especially the bacon and haggis. Hash browns weren't available and I was offered an extra egg instead - I did well out of that :)

Staff very friendly and welcoming. Had lunch here which for me was soup and a sandwich. Lentil soup was very nice. The sandwich however was dry bread with no butter or mayonnaise. One slice had the filling on and the other slice of dry bread was just laid diagonally on top. Not enough filling to eat with the second slice so it was really dry. Unfortunately I noticed the younger member of staff rub her face/nose area while handling plates. It was a bit off-putting. Other than these issues, a nice little place. Would not hesitate to go back if these issues were addressed.

This cafe has a delightful atmosphere. The management and staff are welcoming, polite and helpful. The food and coffee choices are excellent. On my visit today I just wanted mid-afternoon coffee and cake. The warmed ginger and plum cake, served with a little jug of cream, was outstanding. A delightful and enjoyable experience.

What a delightful experience!! From the lovely lady who greeted us when we walked in, to the food, atmosphere and girl who served us. I cannot fault Whytes! My mum and I both had soup and a toastie. I actually commented how incredible the lentil soup was…might be the best I’ve had!! Thank you for having us!! 10/10 all round!

Busy cafe in centre of town. Mix of people in here, friendly service and didn’t feel rushed. Coffee served in generous mugs, and delicious date and honey scone. Cheese scone well flavoured with chilli and extra cheese on the side.

My 2nd visit here and will now always be my 1st choice of late breakfast watering hole whenever I visit Carlisle. The manager and her staff are very friendly, obliging and efficient. The food and drink on offer is always of high quality and well-presented....

What a beautiful cafe, a perfect stop for coffee, breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea. We just had coffees as had eaten a large breakfast at our B&B. The coffees were the best, we had enjoyed so far, a tasty Scottish blend made to your liking....

I think someone has taken over this cafe , the coleslaw tasted/looked different and the New York Panini was ok but the BBQ sauce didn't taste like it used to. Menu and decor has remained the same. The waitress was folding cutlery when we walked in and didn't greet us until I asked if we could take a seat, she also mentioned that they were shut very soon before we sat down
