The Creme Cafe in Carlisle

Arrived at 1.45, there was a sign on the door to say it was open until 2.30. I was snarled at by an extremely rude person, saying "we're closed". Will not be going back.

Good bacon sandwich that was served quickly. Decent value for money at £3. Place is a bit shabby with lots of hand written signs. Only take cash. Could have been awkward as I often only have a card and I didn't realise until after I had ordered

Nice friendly little cafe, just off the main shopping streets. Most people just walk past, but it is worth calling in. The two ladies who run it are lovely and friendly, the food is good and mostly home made and tasty. The cakes look good and they seem to have a lot of regulars that keep going back. If you are fed up with the Costa coffee type cafe's then you could maybe try some of the smaller independent shops, I like to give them a try you are often surprised.

We eat in the Creme Cafe three times a week .The food is all homemade and a good plateful, which is so lovely , don't get that in many cafes.There is a good varieties of different meals.Soups are lovely as all homegrown vegetables is used .If anyone leaves hungry it's not the owners fault as the menu is on the wall of full of different meals .Homemade ice cream is tasty .The owner goes all out to make your food and your stay worth while .So l say 100% fantastic all round.

Went for lunch after reading positive Trip Adviser reviews. We were not impressed. The lunch menu is limited, so we just had soup. One was uninteresting, one was salty. They only accepted cash (this was not advertised as far as we could see). The service was prompt.

I come from Dumfries twice a week and eat in the creme cafe the food is lovely and the staff very friendly. Worth a visit.

A varied menu which is reasonably priced. Everything was fine rather than amazing but it was value for money and there was a good choice. We ate savoury but some of the cakes looked delicious.

This was our first visit to these premises and went based on excellent reviews. We weren’t disappointed. Went at lunchtime on a Tuesday and it was quiet when we first went in but soon got pretty busy. We both had prawn Marie rolls and baguettes which were delicious. These were accompanied by side salad and crisps. Portions excellent too. We both had lattes and the best I’ve had for a while. They cater well for coeliacs. Service great and they also accept Dine Cards which was a bonus. Please be aware that it’s cash only. Can highly recommend

A little off the beaten track but well worth looking out for it. Warm welcome. I had fish finger sandwich with salad and crisps. R had sausage, mash, peas and gravy. All well cooked and delicious. Very good value.

On a trip advisor review came here and was not disappointed. Ordered a savoury cheese baguette and a tea. Hot baked baguette, lots of very tasty filling plus crisps and a side salad. Wish I had room for the home made rice pudding! Staff welcoming and helpfulIf visiting Carlisle you must pop in. You won’t be disappointed.

We'd not been here before so thought we'd try it. Very well presented and tasty sandwich and excellent curry. Price was very reasonable and the service was good

We eat there three times a week .All meals , cakes and ice creams are all home made .My husband has eaten nearly everything that is on the menu. Quiche is my favourite at the moment .So delicious too 100%Great meals

We've just enjoyed a lovely lunch here. We both had quiche and salad and it had just been made. Very fresh ingredients. Everything on the menu seems homemade(even the ice cream) and very tasty. The service was great, very friendly and nothing too much trouble. Highly recommended.

Don't know what the fuss all about. It was ok. Vet soup was veg and water. Sandwich nice. Coffee good. Thought it but pricey.

Needed lunch for 3 picky children and ourselves. Good home cooked food done well. Friendly service. All fed, all happy. Decent size cup for tea too!

We came here simply because of the TripAdvisor reviews and we were not disappointed. I had the lasagne and it was fantastic. The chocolate milkshake was great.

Planned to call here based on TripAdvisor reviews. Slightly put off by the cafe being empty, but so glad we chose to stay. Breakfast made from local produce at a very good price. Well worth a visit.

The staff could not have been more helpful in advising my wife what she could eat (she has a dairy intolerance). And The food was lovely and accompanied by a good cup of tea. Definitely worth visiting

Went for afternoon tea with my wife, the staff were very friendly and attentive. All food was homemade and delicious, very generous portions and anything you don't eat can be boxed and taken away. Fantastic place!

Was stopping over Carlisle after a gig at the football club, wanted decent brekkie found Creme Cafe on trip Advisor. Friendly staff very clean. Great food, Full English from all local produce,not your usual chippy sausage would visit again 5*****

First visit today with my friend and it won't be the last. The staff were friendly, attentive and very efficient, eating in a lovely relaxed atmosphere. The food, well what can I say, having a tuna jacket potato was totally delish, the best "jacket tatty" in town. We will be back to try the rest of the lovely food on the menu, can't wait. So pleased we found this lovely gem of a café, thanks again.

We visit three times a week for our lunch.The meals are all homemade .Cakes and sweets are all homemade. The cheese cakes are absolutely delicious. So many l have tried .Now homemade icecream with many different flavours .Knickerbocker glories are also on the menu too.My husband had one and said how delicious it was .Great Cafe all round with such friendly staff.

Just popped in here for lunch with my husband, the food was amazing, everything homemade. I had the lentil soup and lemon pudding and custard and my husband had the lasagne and homemade rice pudding. Everything was piping hot and the lady who served us was very friendly. Definitely coming again when next in Carlisle.

We wanted a nice cafe to stop off at for a quick lunch and that's exactly what we found. I had a sandwich and hot chocolate which was lovely and my partner had soup and a sandwich which he also really enjoyed. Home made veg soup was great. Each was presented really nicely and the service we received was lovely, very frieny welcome (even though we rocked up just before closing which we appreciated would be annoying!) We will definitely return here as its much nicer than the chain led cafes in town.

Fmantastic home made food and cakes to die for excellent service .the place is so easy to find just across the road from carlisle market in market street and run by great people .

On visiting Carlisle for the first time I looked at Tripadviser for a cafe lunch and this one came out top. Expectations were high then.

Stopped here twice for coffee, excellent service, coffee is good too. Did not try any food, however menu looked good.

found this little cafe whilst shopping in Carlisle with my wife & daughter ,very friendly staff with quick service. we all opted for the bacon ,cheese & cranberry sauce baguettes which were very filling & tasty,they do a lot of home made cooking & also takeaways and i would recommend anyone to give this place a try they would not be disappointed

I was looking for somewhere to have a lighter breakfast in Carlisle. Lots of places do breakfast, but it’s just not nice. Cheap ingredients, not hot, cheap nasty tea.

Arrived and took a seat straight away. Service was very quick and friendly. We ordered coffee and scones with cream which were of good quality. Will return.

What can I say?! Hazel certainly knows how to do an afternoon tea. For the, frankly, outrageous price of £10 per head you get a feast fit for a king! A delicious sandwich, served with ample filling and extremely fresh bread, then a gorgeous home made sausage roll with delicious sausage meat and very light and easy pastry. A cheese scone is one of the highlights of the savoury selection, wonderfully cheesy without being over powering! I didn't realise I liked cheese scones till I tried one of these. Now we're onto the fun stuff..the cakes! Again, all home made and all delicious. The Bailey's cheesecake pots are light and refreshing, the meringue...my word so tasty and the caramel shortcake is out of this world. Finally there is a cream scone which is one of the best I've ever tasted. I can't recommend this cafe enough!

Well how much praise can I give this little cafe - loads and loads. Myself and all my family, mam, dad, husband, daughters and now their husbands and soon our brand new little granddaughter have been regulars at this cafe for years. The food is delicious and freshly prepared with plenty of choice when we visit which is usually lunchtimes. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Last Saturday we had the superb Afternoon Tea, the only way you will find out how gorgeous it is, is to try it, sandwiches, sausage roll, cheese scone, scone jam and cream, caramel shortbread, Bailey's cheesecake and strawberry meringue plus tea or coffee - all for £10. We'll be back!

This is a lovely family cafe tucked away at the back of some shopping malls and the market.

Everything was really fresh and tasty. Best scones! Very kind and friendly service. Owner was willing to change some of the items to accommodate our diet.

Stopped in Carlisle on the way home to Scotland. We had both missed breakfast so by 1pm we were in need of food. Found this lovely little traditional cafe. We were met by Hazel who made us feel instantly welcomed. Even though breakfast had finished at 11.30am Hazel said to leave it with her, full breakfast Sorted, Irene went for the healthy option of a baked potato OMG what a size and a little bit of everything on it. Hungry well worth a try.

We stopped past based on other TripAdvisor reviews & we were not disappointed. The handsome man had mince & mash, I enjoyed the quiche with salad. All cuisine appears to be made onsite - including desserts, which is often not the case. Lunch including coffees was £14 all up.

We eat in the Creme Cafe twice a week. Meals are great although l have a panini. So delicious. My husband has had most meals and enjoys them all. The cheesecakes are too, as all the other food is home made. The staff are so friendly and can have a laugh which makes it a great place to eat. We often go in for coffee in an afternoon to have a cake or two..

We found this little treat of a cafe when walking from Bitts Park into town and so pleased with we stumbled across it. All the food is homemade and is so lovely and fresh and portion sizes are very good too. If you are in Carlisle I would definitely recommend you seek it out.

It was great to find somewhere which offers a varied menu all at very reasonable prices along with very friendly staff! The "Full Breakfast", "Cheese Jacket Potato" and the "Raspberry and Cream Gateau" were really nice and definitely worth trying. Nothing was too much trouble and it would be somewhere I would definitely go back to. NB: It does not have a card machine so is CASH ONLY but there is a Cumberland Bank cash machine right around the corner if you need to get cash out. Give it a go!
