Absolutely incredible stuff...warm and friendly atmosphere in a typical countryside pub.. beautiful food on a Sunday with a lush Roast dinner to tick all the boxes...true quality ingredients really thousands times better than your back street carvery locations...one of them locations to sit back and unwind and enjoy the ambience...

We visited 12.10.2024 for a family meal after a country walk. Sat by the fire near the bar where it was really warm & cosy. Busy atmosphere and friendly vibe. Staff were helpful especially the lady in the camouflage top who was really kind, smiley and attentive. Food was gorgeous, generous in portion, tasty and well presented. Nice range of beers and ciders too. Perfect tonic all round after a beautiful yomp through the woods had tired us out. Would definitely recommend this wonderful pub and we will attend again soon. Loved it!

Visited for a drink and dinner with friends. Our general impression was that the food was lacklustre despite an interesting sounding menu. The £18 chicken dish was bland - no hint of the bone marrow butter stated on the menu. The £17 pork dish arrived cold, paired with a cold puree, undercooked vegetables and minimally seasoned potatoes. Side dishes were forgotten and had to be asked after.

Have visited this pub several times over the last few years. Unfortunately the last 2 visits the food quality has really gone downhill and prices have gone up for poorer quality. The scampi was like mush. A chicken curry came out with all the chicken pieces in a big clump-presumably frozen. The desserts used to be really special but they are now just standard pub grub. I’m not sure if the chef has changed? On a plus the waiting staff were friendly , helpful and polite. I’m not sure I want to return again to be disappointed though.

We were put at a table in the bar so we never even sat in the restaurant. Food was overpriced and not great. Crackling on the pork belly was black. Portions were so small my grown son had to make himself something to eat when we got home. I was very upset because it was his birthday and I wanted it to be nice for him. The waitress never so much as cracked a smile and barely came to the table. We waited 45 minutes for the food to arrive although the place was almost empty with only one other table in the restaurant. I would not go back there under any circumstances. Would I recommend it - absolutely not!

The pub is great traditional English pub. Very cosy and welcoming! The two ladies that served us food and drink were amazing, again friendly and welcoming! We took our cockapoo - they gave him a bowl of chicken and which of course he loved! Our son and his friend (13 yrs) enjoyed different chocolate milkshakes! Nice selection of beers, lagers and wines! We had pork bites and soup of the day ordered and clear plates - main meals were steak, scampi, pie of the day, fish special! All enjoyed and clean plates! Highly recommend! Thanks for hosting us!

We stayed overnight in the cute rooms attached to the pub. We weren't expecting much as it was so reasonable but we were delighted with it for one night stay. Very tucked away and the sat nav takes you down a very narrow lane but once we found it we were happy to stay there in the cosy pub lounge with nice fires and comfy seats. Good range of premium spirits and beers. The food was fantastic and really good value. Even the wine was reasonably priced and nice quality. Very talented chefs produced lovely confit of duck which was better than any I've eaten in France. Friendly owners and the lovely mum in law cooked us a beautiful English breakfast which set us up for the day. We'd definitely look this place up if we're in the area again. Highly recommend it!

Saturday lunch time- busy with one staff member serving felt very sorry for her. The restaurant/bar was very cold they had two fires lit but it just didn’t warm up- everyone was sat with coats on. Haven’t been here in about a year and I must say the food was very sad indeed. Steak had no seasoning at all- bland and colourless. Battered fish pale and greasy and the chips were dark and soggy. The pork was good and very tasty but the portion size was far too small.

Went to this pub for my birthday we had a nice meal but was disappointed with the portion size. It seems every time we go the portions get smaller. We also went back last November for my husband birthday and started to notice the portion size then. To be honest we found though the pub was lovely and welcoming and the manager Kim was lovely. The food was not good value for money so would have to consider whether we would go back to eat. I am not a sink flint but I don't expect to have a 3 course meal and still walk out feeling hungry. So I think this is something that the chef and owners should take on board if they want people to come back for a meal. There was 4 of us tonight and we all felt the same.

A scenic drive in the sunshine to this lovely Inn at St Dominic. The young lady serving us was very welcoming as were the log fires on a cold day. My husband and I both enjoyed the chicken supreme which was hot, tasty and well presented and the sticky toffee pudding / chocolate tart was very nice too. We were very pleased that there is a 20% discount on food during January. Altogether a very nice meal and we will be visiting again.

Our oven had given up on us so we booked supper at this lovely pub. Last time we went (2022) we were a little disappointed but definitely not tonight. The girl behind the bar was the only one serving and did a splendid job in the warm bar. The food was excellent ...a chicken supreme and a pork crackling dish followed by equally delightful sticky toffee pudding and brandy butter bread pudding. Having an extra 20% off the food during January was a real bonus.

A rather overpriced Christmas Dinner experience was spoiled by the very long waits between courses, the lack of professional staff, over spiced soup and lack of turkey at the expense of burnt, overlarge yorkshire puddings, burnt carrots and potatoes. The cheese boards were well presented with a mediocre choice of cheeses including a sweating, outside corner wedge of indescribable cheese. The staff were smiling and generally cheerful and polite. The crackers were good and the tap water was served in a cold bottle which was nice. It was not a merry Christmas dinner.

Booked for lunch in mid December and on arrival it looked quiet but after awhile the bar area filled nicely with diners giving a relaxed vibe. The menu has enough choices without being overwhelming and there is sure to be something to suit most tastes, my wife went for a monkfish scampi starter and I had soup of the day, the monkfish was very tasty and was coated in batter, a little to much for my wife despite being a light tempura batter, my soup was roasted tomato soup and tasted homemade and was accompanied by very tasty olive bread. For mains my wife had fish and chips with garden peas instead of mushy, the chips were good thick cut ones and the fish was tasty, fresh and a good batter. I had Thai curry, you can choose between chicken, vegetable or the one I chose which was monkfish, the dish had an impressive presentation with the curry arriving with an onion bhaji, nan bread, poppadom, dhal, mango chutney, khachumber salad and rice, all arrived on a circular tray with each item in its own small circular pot, it looked great and tasted even better, the curry was sweet and spicy and all the accompaniments were very tasty, I certainly recommend this dish. The meal was unhurried and with a real fire burning the bar area, was welcoming and festive. A very nice pre Christmas lunch in a pub/restaurant very local to me.

We live in the area and had visited a few years ago and found it wanting. However now under new management we visited again with visiting family. The five of us had a fantastic meal, we shared a variety of starters, all of which were delicious, and chose 5 different mains. This was followed by a good selection of puddings & a Cornish cheeseboard. The wine list has been well chosen & we delighted in the choices we made. A delightful young man with the glorious name of Ptolemy served us. He was as local lad who is studying medicine & waiting to earn extra cash. We all had a fabulous evening but couldn’t help noticing that we were the only people eating dinner. The big crowd were clearly regulars enjoying a Friday pint or two and also having a great time. Very much worth visiting, my son & his wife down from Scotland and restaurateurs themselves were full of praise for the W.H.T.I My wife & I will definitely be back again.

Firstly all the positives. The staff were extremely lovely and very welcoming. We have a barky dog and they were terrific around her. Secondly the venue is amazing steeped in history and exactly what a pub should be. However it’s the food prices and portion size which lets it down. I had a mushroom starter for over £7 which was extremely small with a bit of lettuce. The main courses again in my view were just too expensive. We looked at the deserts and many were nearly £10. I fully understand pubs are struggling but then there is a balance to be struck. A bit more bread / more rice with the curry and paella which costs very little. It just makes you go away feeling like you have been a bit ripped off ,which is a shame because it has so much potential as a venue.

Like the title says the food was amazing and easily one of the best if not the best place we have eaten out at. The prices are really reasonable too. I highly recommend The Who'd have thought it inn it is an excellent place to visit

Booked for my wife's birthday, requested a nice table with a view. Booked because the Who'd have thought it Inn was the number one in the area.Allowing for CV19 arrangements it all was quite straightforward. Our table was in a bay window, which would have had a view if the hedge had been cut this year, a bit cold and away from the main area where everyone else got seated. We felt a little sidelined. The food, the main event. Hake chips and peas, beef and Guinness pie chips and peas, bit of a theme there. The main item was absolutely fine, the chips were disappointing, McDonald style ,I'm guessing frozen due to the uniform size. Tartare sauce I'd have thought would have been on the plate not a requested extra, I didn't read the menu properly (my fault) but pie chips and peas is a bit naff chip shop stuff, potatoes and two veg makes it a restaurant meal surely? The sweets were ok, even though there was no vanilla ice cream. The result was not what we expected for the #1 eatery in the area

Had a brilliant evening meal a few days ago at Who’d Have Thought it Inn with my wife and two very good friends. From the moment we arrived we were made very welcome by all the staff and the owner. The food was superb, from the starters, to the main courses, everything was cooked exquisitely. It was great that the owner explained how the food was sourced, prepared and cooked, she is clearly very proud of her business and it is obvious she and her whole team are committed to making this restaurant successful. I have no hesitation in recommending this lovely pub/restaurant

My family have been here many times in the past and it has always been a nice affair. I decided that we would have a little family get together as one of our party was only down here for a little while before going back home. I booked the table online and received the confirmation email straight away. upon arrival the place was closed (doesn't open til 12pm) that's ok we'll sit outside for a bit. A lady appeared and asked us if we had a reservation to which I replied we did and she said "Well there's nothing in the diary." I started to say that I had the confirmation email and she said "let me see if we can fit you in." I thought well if you can't I'm not coming back as that's ridiculous. She then went on to say that they've been having problems with their online service and it shouldn't have allowed us to book. (Well that's not my problem is it). She said she had a table. I then had to tell her that it was for a party of four, she umm'd and err'd and said ok here's a table. Great I thought, lets get on with the food! I was starving. the rest of our party arrived and we had an average meal. We also noted that there were only 2 other parties in our side of the restaurant so we're still wondering why she was so worried about getting us a table! Whenever this woman served us she didn't seem very welcoming at all and I felt like she treated me and my partner the way she did purely down to that we may not have looked like her usual customers (we're in our 30's/40's but I look younger than my age). I just felt like she was thinking we weren't good enough for her pub. Anyway, I went to pay the bill and left without leaving a tip as I didn't think I should due to the service. It was unfortunate as all the other staff seemed quite nice and pleasent. We found out that the lady that was unwelcoming was actually the manager! I have just read another review from a few days ago which described this exact person and they had the same view. I don't think I'll be going back unfortunately as I just didn't feel welcome at all.

We last visited here in 2011 when the Inn was a bit cold and lacked atmosphere, and we returned in September this year to enjoy a wonderful meal, great ambience and excellent service from Tracey and Caz. We stayed overnight in our motor home in their large car park as they are an official Brit-Stop ( free overnight parking organisation for motor homes) . We were made very welcome and the meal and drinks we had were served promptly and were superb. On leaving the following morning Caz kindly took a photograph of us, to mirror one we had taken in 2011. We wish them all success in the future at this lovely country Inn and Restaurant . We hope to return again soon.

I live in Princetown and having a day off, two of us travelled down to the Inn, which we have not visited since well before lockdown. The pub has new management since our last visit and there were not many customers in, which was a pity because the food was truly delicious. I had mussels and my companion had the fish (haddock on the day) and chips. I rarely pay compliments but before leaving felt that I just had to congratulate the Landlady on the standard of the cuisine. The bar staff were friendly and helpful throughout and all in all, it was well worth driving some forty five miles for a memorable lunch.

Returned for a meal with my husband after trying twice previously. Food was absolutely wonderful and quality maintained for all three visits. We struggled to pick from the menu because there was so much to choose from - all of it fresh! If you like fresh fish and seafood, this is the place for you. The Mussels were delightful! My husband had the pork belly which was incredibly tender and fell to pieces. I'm not a huge dessert person but several caught my eye. We ordered one each and a tiramisu to take home. Will definitely be returning to try out the rest of the menu!

We had a meal for £50 which the service and the food definitely did not live up too! Lasttime we went we had a cheesecake (which they even said they had complaints about) was rock solid and since then we tried coming back to give them another chance (thinking maybe desserts aren't their strong point so starters and mains we should try). This time the same woman we were served by lasttime gave us glares that made us feel very uncomfortable! She was very unfriendly when we were served our food. We we're debating on leaving before the mains we're brought out to us but we thought it would be unfair on the chef since he would have already started cooking our meal. This lady was a short lady with long black hair and a black dress. The rest of the staff were so nice and accommodating and for their sakes I feel bad on writing a bad review, we still paid full price for our meal lasttime and this time and complimented them on the rest of our food but we will not be returning again.

Called in whilst touring round the area, after reading all the great reviews. A lovely friendly greeting preceded a really tasty home-made curry for me and my friend. She’s vegetarian and said it made a real change to have a (chickpea and spinach) curry that didn’t seem like it was an afterthought for a non-meat eater. I had chicken - really well spiced and full of flavour. Both were served with a popadom, rice and a hot flaky paratha. Delicious! We just managed to squeeze in dessert - gorgeous ice cream, and a really light lemony baked cheesecake on a crunchy base. Plenty of space between tables (it’s quite a big pub) and Covid precautions all observed. I’ll definitely call again next time I’m in the area.

The Who'd but has been redecorated through the lockdown period and a new menu has been developed. The ambiance inside the pub is one of traditional with a modern twist but as always a very warm atmosphere. If you haven't visited here for a while you should do so. The Covid restrictions are really well dealt with and clear instructions on every table to explain them all. We felt very safe, with a one way system, table service etc. We have just returned from the Who'd and the meal we have just eaten there was superb. The service we received from both the landlady Tracey and from our friendly and efficient waitress Kim were without doubt, excellent, nothing was too much trouble and all dispensed with big smiles . We had trouble choosing a meal because there were two or three things we really wanted to try, but what a great excuse to go back again! We are so lucky to have this pub in our village. Thanks to Tracey and Caz for all your hard work over the lock down period and for giving us a great local pub.

Booked a table for me and my two friends for last night 7.30....we were greeted by a lovely young lady who showed us to our table and before anything else she explained the Covid rules and instantly made us feel safe to begin our night, afterwards she took our drinks order and as we had some questions she went to clarify our requests to make sure she had everything right. We then had our food orders taken.....was completely blown away by our food that arrived, it was absolutely amazing. The staff made sure we had everything we needed and we enjoyed our evening and our delicious food. The staff came to check we were enjoying ourselves during the meal and again if we needed anything else. The pub is very clean and freshly decorated, it’s a place I like to visit in winter time too as the bar area has a lovely cozy feel. I will be visiting again in the not to distant future, luckily the place is pretty much on my doorstep and I guess I will have to drag my friends too. Thank you to all the staff, excellent service and made to feel so welcome and comfortable.

My wife and I went last night 31st Aug and have to say it was an amazing night. We never felt at any risk of the covid situation, they have it completely sorted. The food was of the highest quality, I had the fish and chips and I have to say the fish was pure white and tasty. The staff were very attentive and so exceedingly polite. You really need to visit this place, it's a rustic looking building with an interesting history. We will do the journey again at some point.

We had a table booked at 7.30pm and the table was set and looked lovely. The food was outstanding, I couldn’t believe the price, it was so cheap for amazing quality food. Me and my 2 friends were blown away with the service. All the staff went above and beyond to make our visit lovely. Defiantly recommend and can not wait to return. Will be our go to place from now on! Thank you

This is the second time in a few weeks that we have eaten at what once was our local but has since then changed hands. On both occasions the food was absolutely super, and we were made to feel safe and welcome. The measures the team have taken to ensure safety are exceptional and although these are strange times, we certainly felt at ease and very relaxed. If you are visiting the area, make a booking and go, you won’t be disappointed.

A fantastic meal served in a friendly and relaxed pub. The owner is so friendly and spent time to explain the menu, clearly very passionate about the food that is served. I can highly recommend The Whody Ruby, a great curry with just a good kick and full of flavour. We were so impressed we are going back while we are away in Cornwall, if your in the area make sure you eat here you will not be disappointed.

An unexpected delight. Popped in for an impromptu late lunch, lovely food and even better service. Many thanks, please don't change!

Poor service and virtually no vegan/vegetarian options. Asked for a veggie burger which was on the menu, they didn't have any. Asked what else was vegan, they didn't know. Service was very slow and all front of house seemed uninterested and more keen to huddle round the bar chatting. One waitress was particularly rude, I wouldn't go there again and wouldn't recommend. Lots of much friendlier places in Falmouth.

Absolutely wonderful visit. The cream tea was the best I think I’ve ever had. Warm scones, huge pot of cream and delicious jam, must be homemade. The tea was piping hot and came with an additional tea bag should you like it strong.

Wish we had read other reviews first! Very disappointed, outside of hotel and views lovely inside tired and dated. Greeted by a sign on the main entrance explaining to go around the back of the building and ringing to be eventually answered by a polite but rather eerie character. There was no bar on offer over the whole weekend and no dinner available as he wasn't sure if his mother had been shopping!! Unfortunately the bathroom wasn't clean and the breakfast average. On the morning of leaving we received an email to say payment had been taken and we saw no one as we left, a very odd way to run a hotel business!
