A hidden gem that we stumbled on. Delicious soup and bread, a charming owner and friendly staff, two gorgeous dogs (I met them at the back on my way to the loo), and fruitcake made with Yorkshire grandma’s secret recipe!

Great coffee, sandwiches and cakes. Recommend brie and mango chutney roll, cheese and pesto toastie, victoria sponge cake and almond and raspberry cake. Probably only seats 8-10 people inside and 4 outside? Young staff friendly and welcoming despite being a busy Saturday.

We stumbled across this gem of a cafe today, as we passed through Penzance on the last day of our holiday in Cornwall. I can honestly say the warm welcome that we and our chatterbox kids received, alongside exquisitely cooked simple sandwiches, soup and fruit cake, were a highlight of an already fabulous holiday. Come for the toasties, but stay for the sparkling conversation with the owner and her staff. Whits & Bay gave us such a memorable experience of Penzance life. Thank you for making our day!

Great coffee, friendly staff and the loveliest, kindest owner who went out of her way to help us after our car accident. A gem of a place. Thank you so so much!

Excellent coffee in a friendly, welcoming little cafe; individually designed mugs! Penzance generally is a place to visit - Barton Books is also recommended

lovely spot! friendly helpful staff.. went for a latte, unfortunately only non-dairy option is oat milk. Would be repeat local if there was an option other than oat milk. (coconut, almond or plant milks?)

A fab find in Chapel Street. Great coffee, gorgeous cups (you’ll know what I mean when you go there…) and best of all are the friendliest cool staff behind the counter. Plus vegan cookies!

An unexpected delight in a wet Penzance. Friendly, helpful staff. Limited but fine menu. Couldn’t fault the soup or toasted sandwich. Big pot of very good tea. Reasonably priced.

Very tasty with the onion chutney👍👍👍👍 We have been travelling from Scotland at every stop my hubby had a scone he rated this a definate 10👍👍👍👍 Lady in the cafe was Corinne , very friendly and gregarious, and she gave me a hair bobble when I asked for an elastic band, very happy staff and looks like repeat regular customers. Great atmosphere Thank you 👍👍👍👍

This is by far the friendliest place in Penzance, (and probably a lot further afield). Very reasonable prices, delicious tea and coffee, and nothing seems to be too much trouble. There is also a wealth of knowledge about the area, what to do, where to go. We will definitely be back.

Very cosy cafe, giving the best pot of tea, sandwich cakes and company i have experienced in a long time. Board stating specials on the wall - and selection of cakes. The owner is very friendly and engaging, made sure every customer was happy with their order, very chatty and engaging, would highly recommend the service and food. The best thing everyone in the cafe spoke to each other including me a tourist to the area - closes 3-30pm. Good value .Dogs adored - highly recommend

This is a very cosy and emotionally warming space. rejuvenating and not your standard cafe - fresh bakes, hot food, drinks, energising conversation, refreshing company, guaranteed laughter, brilliant, friendly, idiosyncratic people. Make this your next stop. (:

My family and I stopped off at Whits & Bay for a quick lunch. The menu was simple, but they were happy to stretch it for my children which instantly put my son at ease who likes a very minimal ham sandwich! The rest of us had Jacket potatoes which had clearly been cooked slowly so they were full of flavour with crispy skins. All the fillings were really tasty (beans & cheese, cheese & coleslaw). But the hero filling was the 'accidentally vegan' chilli which was made with various beans. My son had some vegan ice cream for pudding and we took cakes away to have later, the ginger cake and lemon drizzle. I can't tell you if the lemon cake was nice as my daughter refused to share any... but I can say the ginger cake was full of flavour. This is a family-run cafe, the owners were lovely and made us feel right at home. Colouring was found for the children to do while we waited for food. Incidentally for those with food allergies/intolerances, they were happy to offer oat milk at no extra cost. They had a gluten-free cake on offer and vegan ice cream so my son who can't have much dairy was instantly catered for.
