White's Cafe in Middlesbrough

Found by chance and what a pleasant surprise. Lovely inside. Velvet classy comfy chairs. Nice ambience. Staff lovely. Filo pastry brocolli and cheese slices served on gorgious plates and good coffee too. Pity our trips into Middlesbrough are limited tbese days.

This is a gem of a cafe I always visit when in the town to get the full english whilst the daughter goes for the smaller one and it is always spot on with excellent service

We go to this cafe regularly for a full English breakfast. Gorgeous food for a decent price. Coffee is lovely too. Great service from the lovely ladies who work there.

Come here for lunch on a weekly basis with my mam, lovely food and great atmosphere, All the staff are so nice and helpful nothing is to much trouble, especially Debbie who has been they along time now, would definitely recommend 😀👍

Every time we’ve come here the service and food has been top notch.delicious food and plenty and fresh and great quality.inside looks small but seating upstairs as well.decent menu and good prices.toilet downstairs.you can get cheaper elsewhere but i always believe you pay a bit more for quality.give here a try you wont be disappointed.helpful staff and place clean with good atmosphere.

I said last time this cafe deserves to be higher and I still think that. 2 superb fresh cooked English breakfasts saw cleaned plates and two contented customers. Highly recommended.

Whenever we go into the town centre this is our place to go for breakfast or lunch. Staff are lovely and there's a great assorted menu. Food is hot and tasty and served with a smile.

Had breakfast snacks in here with family,splendid service and delicious food as usual.clean and tidy and plenty of extra seating upstairs.freshly cooked and quality ingredients.nice to go for a treat now and then.

Absolutely love this place, go all the time when my parents are visiting and often go for a nice lunch out. Food is gorgeous and staff are lively and friendly. Couldn't recommend it more

Walked by here many a time and decided to go in first time with my young family on a Saturday morning,only one person in and it looks a bit cramped in downstairs but seating up stairs and a small clean toilet just before stairs.limited menu and some main meals are a bit pricey for Boro folk but we all had eats n drinks and for the price we paid the food was plenty and so delicious.we all had snack food i got the bacon bun and I’ve never seen as much bacon must have been 3 or 4 big bacon slices and lovely soft fresh roll,in the party we also had cheese scone,carrot cake and fries and 2 big mugs of tea and free tap water end of counter to use.2 pleasant and helpful women served us and we will deffo call again when in town. Food was top notch and service and it was a bit dearer than our usual cafe but the food was the best for taste.give it a try like us today .

Our first visit here and have to say we were impressed. Really nice welcome, good large cups of decent coffee and two cracking fresh grease free breakfasts at a fair price.

Went in with my daughter and it was really nice, great coffee and they offer soya milk which is great.

Ordered the "burger of the week" portobello mushroom burger, for a pay day treat with my friend. Received ONE portobello mushroom in a bread bun, with sliced tomato and a few wedges of avocado. NO BURGER. The sweet potato fries were ok. £10 a head with an average tasting coffee. Young waiter didn't really have much to say when we asked where our burgers were. RIDICULOUS

Just like to say how disappointed to find that the burger i ordered was actually a mushroom with a bit of lettuce slice of avocado and slice of tomato.It was described as burger of the week but was in fact a mushroom, we spoke to waiter as we thought our burger had been mislaid some where but alas no the BOTW was definitely a mushroom . I left feeling hungry and cheated of a veggie burger.

We stopped here for breakfast one a Saturday morning and it was a bit of a mixed experience. It is quite small and cramped downstairs but there is more tables upstairs, and all of the ladies serving were very pleasant. We ordered scrambled eggs on toast for my wife and a bacon sandwich for myself, as it had been recommended to me. Imagine my disappointment then when instead of a bacon sandwich a sausage sandwich came out (which I don’t eat!!!) As we had only put a limited amount of time on the car park we didn’t have time to wait again so my wife had the sausage and I had to have the eggs on toast. On a positive note the coffee was really good and they gave us a token for another free coffee next time we went.

I agree with the previous reviewer. This cafe needs a higher ranking! I don't go into Middlesbrough much but when I do I'll be back again to White's. You can tell they use quality ingredients. From the lovely salad garnish with delicate dressing, really nice homemade quiche and equally nice homemade coleslaw. Very quick service, three staff out front so no eating surrounded by leftover plates on other tables etc. Nothing to complain about at all!

Yo todavía estoy sorprendido por qué este pequeño lugar no es mucho más arriba en la clasificación. Supongo que no pretende ser tan a la moda, ya que es cerca de los vecinos en Baker Street y no pretende ser un "bistro", pero la comida y el servicio es tan bueno como cualquiera de los otros establecimientos. Mi esposa es particularmente orgullosa de sus patatas fritas de Patata dulce, mientras que la tarifa club sándwich altamente. Las ofertas especiales son siempre interesantes y la mesa personal permanecen tan amable como siempre.

Solía ir a su restaurante en gran Ayton y la calidad ha continuado en el cafe en Middlesbrough. Dos canapés de pescado consumido con gran delicia. Tuve la mayonesa de huevo y salmón ahumado sándwich y estaba delicioso. La camarera que nos servía era excelente. En general, un grteat visita.

Una acogedora cafetería poco perfecto para un café y un aperitivo o una comida antes o después o durante las compras. Una buena selección de café delicioso y una buena variedad de platos sencillos y deliciosos con toques de poco. Tuve una quiche de tomate y pesto increíble. Asientos en dos pisos. Gran servicio amable. A un precio razonable y rápida para comer! Las tartas de aspecto genial y volver a probar una o dos.

A menudo una parada aquí para comer algo, ya que es muy fiable y la comida es buena. Un desayuno, comida o bocadillo, un bollo, trozo de tarta, etc. con una bebida caliente o fría. mejor que cualquiera de los almacenes brans alrededor de la ciudad y vale la pena probarlo

The name changes suggests this informal restaurant has changed hands a few times but the quality of the food and the service remains excellent. Always worth a visit for lunch.

Me and my partner go to this cafe most times we are in town. The food is excellent and I've had most things on the menu. The place is kept clean and tidy great service. It's a little expensive but you pay for quality so it's not a problem.

Amazing food and great service. The mochas in particular are fantastic and they do amazing melts and Panini's. The fries are also really good and its reasonably priced. Would easily recommend.

I come here with my partner for or more often call in just by myself when i need a rest from shopping, for a coffee and some lunch. The atmosphere is so relaxed, so I don't feel silly at all sitting by myself. Staff are always so lovely and welcoming, coffee is delicious and food is so tasty and you get loads for the price.

I don't live in north but i do wish I could find this kind cafe where i live.The tea house or cafe with serving good comfortable foods and nice people.Come back again soon!!

Have visited this place a few times when shopping in the town. Staff are always friendly and accommodating. Excellent choice on offer and one of the best club sandwiches around!

Visited with my dad as he spotted a fish finger sandwich on the menu, wasn't disappointed with the food however I was given the wrong lunch after specifying a few dietary alterations, good overall

Visit almost every Saturday morning & I think the staff are the best in town, the coffee is the best in town, the atmosphere is good, the food is good but in my opinion the the best thing on the menu is the Eggs Benedict so why why why have they dropped it from the menu for a second time?????Maybe I should have given only 4 stars because of this but it wouldn't be fair on the hard work the staff put in, please please please get the Eggs Benedict back on the menu to truly make this place truly EGGSCELLENT

I have been to Whites a few times now and I absolutely LOVE it, definitely one of my favourite places to end. The chicken mayo burger with fries is lush! The staff cant do enough for you, absolutely fantastic service! Its always nice and clean!! Fabulous

my wife and I visit whites regularly as we think it one of the best restaurants in middlesbrough, the food is 1st class and the staff are second to none, please visit and try it, you will enjoy and return, great place and great staff

This is my regular place to grab a bite to eat in town. Not the cheapest but the food is faultless.. You pay for what you get. Great specials on daily and fab service. Well worth a visit

To be congratulated on the quality of the coffee. I take mine without milk or sugar so there is nothing to hide burnt, bitter coffee which is served in most of the cafes in town, even the one which has 'the best coffee this side of Milan'Egg mayonnaise on granary is full of filling and difficult to eat without squeezing it out! Free rage egg with lots of flavour.Quiche tastes home cooked and delicious.Both served with salad with a flavour enhancing dressing.If I were to 'nit pick' the salsa, although tasty is served in a small paper cup which is too delicate to hold. Possibly a small ceramic cup would be better?

What a lovely little place in the middle of Middlesbrough! The food was great (would really recommend the lamb burger and risotto!) Portions were huge. The coffee was lovely and he service was great! Will be popping in again the next time I visit Middlesbrough, and I hope the burger is still on the menu!

A little retreat in the middle of Middlesbrough Town Centre. Lovely little cafe/coffee shop great for a lunchtime treat. The staff are always incredibly friendly too.

Me and my friend decided to go here for breakfast.We have heard about it being great and seen photos of there tasty food.The service and atmosphere were great. We sat upstairs and had the place to ourselves. We both ordered a variation of the breakfast with tea and a orange juice. The breakfast was yum but I think I had higher hopes of flavour. It just seemed not too seasoned but a breakfast is a breakfast. It was a standard meal in a standard cafe, nothing to complain about. I think they have another cafe in Middlehaven so will try there next time x

This review is for the Whites cafe based in the Boho small business centre behind the Railway station. Cafe is small and based on the ground floor of Boho, sandwiched between the police HQ and the infamous Bongo club. Seating for about 40, with good wheelchair access and toilets for the disabled.Simple furnishings with plain white walls that fits with the decor of the business centre.Varied menu (sandwiches, panninis,wraps, quiches, pasta, salads etc) with daily specials and hot drinks.Being smaller than the cafe in town, it can be busy, but service is quick and friendly.My favourite, sweet chilli chicken served in toasted "bloomer" with salad, mayo, and a small pot of salsa. Even better with a small clay plant pot of skinny chips.Price for two with coffees, £14, (for some reason, slightly cheaper than in their other cafe).

We rambled in on a whim while in Middlesbrough for the day. Enticed by the fact that the menu advertised free range eggs and local produce. I had a crayfish salad and my partner a chilli chicken sandwich. My plate was bursting full of crayfish and the salad beneath fresh and lively accompanied by a beautiful dressing I also had some coleslaw which was nice and tasted homemade. My partner enjoyed his sandwich and said the chicken was juicy and flavoursome. The food as a whole was wonderfully presented and tasted beautiful. The only downside was one of the members of staff seemed rather uninterested in us as though we were a slight inconvenience. When i asked for the side of coleslaw there was no reply or eye contact she just continued with the till. I was unsure over whether i would get any coleslaw at all until it came.

What an absolute treasure of a cafe!!Stopped today for a quick coffee n ended up having breakfast... The latte was made beautifully tasted delicious..Had poached eggs on wholemeal they wee cooked just rightThis is a jewel in the centre of m'brough. Will def stop again

We eat at White's an average of 2-3 times per week. The reason we keep going back is that you can't get a better coffee in Middlesbrough, all the girls are fantastic and really friendly, the food is always spot on and they have a changing specials board also. They don't cut corners in White's, all the food is freshly prepared and very tasty. We've never had a long wait for food and they still give great service even when the place is packed. A definite must try are the fruit scones, freshly baked every day, never stodgy, but always light and fluffy.

First visit to Whites Cafe and found it to be quite busy with most tables in use, which is a good sign. The menu has a good choice of options and I had a deliceous toastie and my wife a Tuna Jacket potato. Everything came as ordered and the staff were very pleasant. The toilets were clean which I think is a good sign for the general cleanliness of the cafe. Will return again.

I usually pop into Whites Cafe at least once every 3-4 weeks when I'm in town and I'm never disappointed with their food. Ok it's not the cheapest but the food is good quality and the specials a little bit different to the usual run of the mill lunchtime offerings! People who waited ages for their food must have just been unlucky as they seem to serve food really quickly when I'm in. They have waitresses service upstairs and order at the counter downstairs. I love their BLT sandwiches with fries (served in little plant pots) but for me their bacon sarnies are gorgeous. The rashers are good quality and never scrimped on. Coffee is very good too and the staff pleasant and helpful. A nice place for lunch in town and clean toilets both up and downstairs.

I visit the cafe weekly, and usually get Whites Club Sandwich, definitely the best club sandwich I've had. I'd also recommend the eggs Benedict or the sausage sandwiches. I'm a regular daily for the coffee too. If I ever have friends in town I make a bee line for Whites, I really annoy recommend this place enough.

Went on a Saturday afternoon so expected a short wait for food, however ended up waiting nearly 40 minutes for a cheese and tomato toastie (which wasn't even nice) with no apology from the staff. Seemed a bit expensive too, over £12 for two toasties and a bottle of water! Wouldn't go again.

Was recommended by a friend the choices were good and they did tuna without mayonnaise jackets EVERYWHERE else has it already mixed so a nice change. The staff were very helpful. The downstairs is small but there is seating upstairs. 2 unisex toilets on 2 different levels. reasonably priced. Will go again.
