Popped in with my son for an evening meal and they managed to squeeze us in. Very happy with our meals and staff were amazing especially Roxanne who served us. Definitely be coming back.

Visited for the first time in many years and was generally quite happy - the main course was ok (there was a bit of grease on the plate from the fried fish) but the dessert was very nice. Next time I will have a different main course but probably go with the same dessert as I couldn't fault that. It was the little details though that will make me go back again - the tables were well spaced so you didn't feel crowded, the water came in a decent sized glass, the staff were friendly, the serviette was big enough to cover your whole lap and not some stupid little scrap that falls on the floor as soon as you move, the service was very quick although admittedly it was the beginning of the lunch-hour and not very busy. Also, for a single person, it was comfortable since there were several tables clearly aimed at 1-2 people and the waitress service meant you did not have to leave some of your belongings unattended in order to 'bag' a table while you went to order - a practice I particularly dislike. All in all a positive experience and I will go back again

We came here the other day to check out the food that was on offer. The staff was friendly, the service was quick, and the food was delicious. We'll be sure to return here soon :)

Why are they opening before 11.30 but you can't get a cuppa until almost 12.00. This is poor customer service.

Good parking, plenty of tables pleasant staff. But no alternative milk apart from soya, not much food left and very messy from disrespectful customers. Two shrivelled eggs so asked the chef if he could cook a couple more, nice chap but he put them into a muffin tray in the oven, when i asked why he doesnt griddle them he informed me he isnt allowed. Sadly the eggs were half cooked and snotty. Ok breakfast but not great.

Appalling. They had only a quarter of the restaurant full and said we were unable to have a table at any point today as they were changing menus and only had 7 meals left in the kitchen so haven't got any food.

Stopped in with friends. Good selection of meals over lunch period. Hot food and good service. Will be returning with the girls.

We stopped at the Beefeater on the off chance of getting a table for 7 family members and we were really pleasantly surprised with the service. Both the bar and the restaurant staff were so friendly and polite, the food arrived promptly and we all enjoyed our meals. it really was a lovely experience and I’d definitely recommend this restaurant!

Whilst we were waiting for our meal, we couldn’t help but notice a few areas that need a deep clean. Window sill had ring marks from glasses, windows were filthy as well as the blinds which were very dusty!! Also light fittings had clearly not been cleaned for a very long time!! There was a shortage of staff it seemed too, as the ladies were rushing about here and there apologising for keeping people waiting. Music gave me a headache as we had one type playing in the restaurant and could also hear a different one coming from the kitchen!! Please give it a deep clean.. there is more to cleaning than just wiping the tables!

Stayed next door in the Premier inn, Food was expensive for what was on your plate, I guess that's every where nowadays. Service was quite slow too, waiting 15 minutes for my drink to arrive as it was table service. Breakfast was great apart from cold bacon (just a minor blip). Wouldn't let any of the above stop me going back again, overall not the worst/best experience.

We arrived for breakfast and there was no staff to great us or show us to a seat, we found a member staff the young lady was friendly and helpful . The whole place could have done with a deep clean or refurbishment the carpets were filthy in places and some of the chairs were stained and the gents toilet was filthy didn't look like it had been cleaned in months . The breakfast was just ok nothing special , fried eggs were rock hard and the bacon needed cooking more although it looked like it had been boiled . The fresh fruit like the bananas were black . The pop up toasters are a complete waste of time having wait ages for them , Disappointing on our first visit.

Went there with cousins, am Gluten Free, had a separate menu, had a good range of available options. Didn’t have to look through a folder of spreadsheets, food was enjoyed by all 4 of us. Will use again, not far off Junction 26 of the M5.

Couldn’t be more disappointed. Food took ages. We were standing at the ‘wait here to be seated’ section for god knows how long with people walking past ignoring us the whole time. The food I’m pretty sure was microwaved. They messed up our drinks order and messed up the bill too. Won’t be going back.

Served by the wonderful Ruby who was a real delight - so polite and looked after everyone’s needs. And the food was excellent as well so it all scores 11/10 from me!

We were staying in the premier inn next door and went here for dinner. The food was surprisingly good……we made a meal of four starters…all of which were plentiful and delicious……but best of all was the friendly and helpful service we received in this place. The staff are lovely. Thankyou..we had an unexpectedly lovely evening!

Called in Saturday as we didn't want to stop at a motorway service station . We were travelling from stoke to Paignton and staying in a premier with a beefeater next door to it so we've been OK with the food service . We were met by a woman who we asked if we could have a table for 2 to which was the reply we are full there was clearly many tables not set out and very few people seated but she kept saying full via her computer couldn't understand why a member of ur staff would turn paying customers away she actually turned dirty guts on me and said she was not going to be talked to like that but I hadn't been abusive just stated a piont as there were tables empty and a service station wouldnt turn us away shall not be using this beef latest again but say Paignton is top notch

Food took a very long time to come , the drinks didn’t even show up before the food , and only showed up after we pointed out they’d forgotten about us , made a simple request to my partners meal and asked for no mushrooms , came with them anyway , couldn’t point out the mistake because no one checked on us , since the new menu change the skin on fries especially are awful compared to the previous fries , choice on the menu is vastly reduced and overall quality is quite poor , steak for example being very fatty, for the money you pay it really isn’t worth it, really really disappointed

Steak was very thin, but tasted ok, annoyed peppercorn sauce didn't come with meal and was charged at £2 extra, (hardly peppercorn price). And onion rings extra charge. For the price disappointed ☹️

Absolutely amazing food really good service very helpful and friendly I had the 3 4oz rump sirloin fillet meal blown away tbh meats were perfectly cooked I asked for rare spot on the cuts of meat were fantastic seen as they were 40z walk away so happy well done chefs

Food slapped on a plate,overcooked microwave rubbish. sat for 20 Minutes waiting for desert that didn't come, staff complaining it was busy when there was 10-15 free tables. Don't waste your time and money theres a KFC across the road that will give you better food and service

My wife and I went to have breakfast yesterday with my brother and sister in laws as we just fancied going out for breakfast rather then cooking at home in Taunton BIG MISTAKE Food cold and not really being replenished Coffee machine not working properly No orange juice No one really bothered The seats and carpets all had stains on them I only gave one star as it wouldn’t let me leave zero Very disappointed with the whole experience Won’t be going back EVER

We went for Breakfast Saturday morning. We had paid for breakfast but not booked a time slot. The pub was very very busy and we had to wait until a table came available. We didn’t wait long , about 15 minutes. While we waited we watched the lady on the host station ( Clare) . She greeted every single person with a huge smile a personal greeting, even the children. We were mesmerised watching her. She made a very busy morning seem calm. We went in for breakfast and in some places fought our way through the crowds. The food was hot and plenty of it. In the restaurant we saw a lady getting quite teary over her crying baby. Clare immediately supported the mum. Getting her drinks and helping her in general. Lots of people were getting a little frustrated over the baby crying. It all became too much for the lady . We overheard Clare telling customers to be kind and as mothers we have all been there. Clare pushed the pram out while supporting the mum . We were blown away by Clare’s empathy especially while it was busy. Clare is a huge credit to the company and we will definitely return.

Nice staff and good food but could do with some cleaner cutlery. Had a burger and a steak that were both cooked lovely, just had to give our cutlery a wipe after checking all 4 sets on our table for any clean ones.

Staying at Prem Inn and booked dinner. BIG mistake! 1st impression was dirty, overgrown garden with broken furniture full of dirty glasses and rubbish, including dirty nappies. Inside were sticky floors and tables. Although staff were friendly and helpful there were clearly not enough of them to run the place effectively. Food was served cold, oil needed changing on fryers, steak was tough - to name a few of the issues. Generally very disappointing. We cancelled breakfast booking and had an excellent visit to Blue Moon Cafe in Taunton.

Breakfast; Service isn't the best and is very slow. Getting a seat was very slow, considering there were about 5-6 empty tables and not a lot of people coming in. The food is ok, the standard breakfast you'd expect. However, they don't do scrambled eggs, and you have to oder them, which takes about 20 minutes. When they finally did come out, it was dry beyond belief and was chewy and bland (see photo below). For breakfast, I'd recommend staying away from here and finding something better. (Premier Inn taunton East has its breakfast here, too) Dinner; The first time we went here, it was a feast fit for a king. Titanic meals (we usually get a lot of sides) but perfectly cooked steak packed full of flavour and sides to an excellent standard. The 74 bbq sauce is to die for. It's smokey, sweet, and everything bbq needs. All the items on the menu are fantastic. Although the second time service was a bit slower. When I'm in Taunton, this is my go-to place.

The restaurant is clearly consistently busy as the whole place inside is filthy. Not just dirty because of a busy service, it just doesn’t get cleaned well enough. The hard floors & carpets are disgustingly dirty & greasy and you can smell that when you walk in. The tables and chairs obviously get wiped over between guests but clearly ground in muck is visible. The chairs that have fabric on them have horrible stains & dirty hand prints. But most worrying was the the self service food area. The floor had not been swept vacuumed or mopped, lots of food splashes & crumbs & actual dust. Lots of spillages of foods & liquids . Just made me think what’s the cleanliness of the kitchen & food handlers? Not impressed & won’t be returning.

Bar closed at 10pm instead of 11pm as advertised on the website! they were understaff and had to wait ages for bar service! Absolute joke quite honestly!! Last food order was 8:45pm!!! Semi attached to the premier inn next door which is full and they can't stay open!! Ridiculously stupid!!!

Service couldn't have been better, but the food, considering the price, was a disappointment. Presentation wasn't great, nearly 24 quid for surf and turf, which was 2 prawns, a steak, with more gristle than the price point would indicate, and a few calamari scratchings really wasn't up to scratch. A nice venue, but overall, not worth a repeat visit for me

What is not to like about this place. Three visits and perfect food and service each time. Ten stars an out of five.

We stopped here on our way home from Croyde. The meals were lovely. Food was hot and tasty. Staff were pleasant and attentive.

Popped in just for a coffee. Very few people in there. Coffee was very nice and very reasonably priced.

Stopped here for lunch after travelling home from Wales. The exterior of the White Lodge looks scruffy and not a patch on the place as I remember it when I used to visit in the past. The menu is hardly inspiring either so we made the decision to go somewhere else instead.

Served cold starters. Was only breaded mushrooms. They did give me another plate. But no apology was given to me. Main was steak sampler asked for steak to b cooked as medium but was a little undercooked. Well at least they got the dessert stop on but had to wait a little longer than expected

Poor food quality. Looks like cook managed to create salad from leftovers ? Few leafes of lettuce and two bits of tomato and that stem from middle of letuce put me off.

I had the great fortune to spend an evening here. It was unplanned and the result of my car breaking down on the opposite side of the road. The staff were really friendly and helpful particularly the greeter and server, who had only started working there the day before.

Thoroughly enjoyed a lunchtime meal here yesterday. Special mention must be made about our waitress Kate who was at all times providing a friendly service. When one of our meals was not quite up to standard she replaced it immediately and deducted the cost of that meal from our bill.Always smiling and taking a pride in her work she really is a top class waitress! We shall be back...

Poor quality ingredients and dirty interior - not sure how thye can justify charging so much. Avoid this place like the plague unless you are desperate.

I've visited this Beefeater for breakfast five times now, and each time has been consistently disappointing. Unfortunately, this last visit will also be my very last. The bacon was undercooked to the point of being hazardous, the sausages were also undercooked, and the poached eggs were hard. The attitude of the chef was shockingly unprofessional, disgusting, and rude. It was evident that many other guests were also dissatisfied with the food and asking for bacon and sausages to be redone, which speaks volumes. I won't be booking breakfast here ever again. I must acknowledge that all the other staff (except the Chef) were warm, kind, and friendly. However, the breakfast experience was completely ruined by a Chef that should be working at Faulty Towers.

Arrived at 8.30 to be told last food could be ordered by 8.45 and last orders for drink was 9.30pm when their website shows they close at 11pm . All the staff were clearing around us waiting for us to go Shall not be going back.

Dinner was good Breakfast a disappointment. No orange juice available at either service instead they served watered down Tropical juice which was insipid. The man restocking the pastries and bread did so by carrying in his hands from kitchen and placed in co tainwrs again by hand.! Tongs were ckearly available for all to use. The coffee machine was broken also. Kate the waitress on dinner service was very pleasant and efficient. Not sure I would visit here again .

In the two visits, we found the bills very lapsing, the staff were friendly but lacking in sense of context, had to question the bill but eventually resolved the issue. Lovely young staff, not sure about management.

The reason I say to avoid breakfast is unlike the evenings where the food is much better the cooked breakfast offered here is truly awful. Anaemic looking bacon, undercooked sausage, very undercooked black pudding, cold grilled tomatoes.. how does that happen?? and mushrooms that have the appearance of dried ones! Not to mention that the trays aren’t refreshed often enough and run out of food Save your money and go 5 mins round the corner to get something substantial and better value at McDonalds! Not the best premier inn breakfast I’ve had in my travels but certainly the worst.

We had a lovely lunch with exceptional service as ever from Nicky. Thank you. The pork ribs were falling apart, and my husband's steak was cooked to perfection.

This place is filthy!! We stayed in the hotel & were planning to eat dinner elsewhere but unfortunately they didn’t have space, so for convenience we decided to eat here. Food was basic, table & menu was sticky, carpet was dirty. I was hoping it may have just been because it was a busy evening & maybe we’re short staffed but unfortunately not. We had breakfast here in the morning & it was just awful! Food was lukewarm even when sat under the hot plate, bacon was undercooked, Continental options were very basic & limited, juice tasted watered down. Cutlery was dirty & again table was sticky. The floor was disgusting! Food from the night before was everywhere. The corners of the dining room were thick with dirt. My 11 year old refused to sit on any of the surrounding chairs as the fabric was filthy! The toilets, my word, disgusting! The dirt around the taps was vile!! Honestly, felt dirty when we left! Worst place I have ever eaten at!!

Delicious food that was well cooked and hot. Great service by Nicky. A very enjoyable meal. Will be back again very soon.

Easy to park the car. The staff are very welcoming, friendly, amazing service, food and atmosphere. We were greeted seat and served by Kate.

For what it is can't fault the food(if you like chips/frys and are veg or a salad dodger. Waitresses great, especially Kate, can't do enough for you. Place could do with a good clean though. Toilets need sorting as when urinals flush, goes over the floor not great rubber shoes recommended 👌. Carl and John snake 🐍

I'm reviewing this as I've just been for tea and the food was spot on, I couldn't fault anything, the battered mushrooms were a good size with a crispy coating, the ribs had plenty of meat on them and weren't fatty and the chicken was seared but not dried out, and the cherry on top was the great service from the waitress Kate who was pleasant and attentive , "service with a smile" 👍🏻

Disgusting! My 16 year old daughter decided to take the family for mother’s day breakfast with her first wages. We were eventually greeted my the manager who had a job to speak , he took payment from my daughter and then told us to sit anywhere we liked. We walked through and past 2 tables that were filthy and went to the last table which was the cleanest but still not wiped down! This was 10.15am and only a couple of families in the resturant . My youngest (10) was disgusted with how dirty everything was. If you didnt stick to the tables you stuck to the floor and carpets!! Food was on the floor from evening before, had to ask for cups/ plates/ bowls / cutlery. No choices as described on the menu. Staff didnt know what they were doing , hoovering whilst eating . It was like they werent ready to receive the morning customers!! We heard a few families talking and saying how disgusting it was. The chairs were tatty , and had broken or unused chairs just put anywhere they could. We didnt complain at the time as we didnt want to upset our daughter who had kindly taken us out and paid for what she hoped would be a lovely mother’s day breakfast. Absolutley minging and wont be returning !! After seeing the state of the resturant i dont have much confidentice in the cleanliness /hygiene in the kitchen . This place need to close down or buck it’s ideas up and quickly !!

On arrival it was a lovely atmosphere, our server was Claire s, she wad very warm and welcoming and made our experience so nice, food was lovely, table service was incredible , second drinks were offered, food was as excepted from this type of chain , again Claire really made the visit worth it :)

Booked for 8 of us for Mother’s Day - absolutely terrible service - had to ask for somebody to take drinks order after 30mins, food hour and 15 mins, hour after that we asked for bill as nobody came back. Waitress then asked 15 mins later if we wanted puddings. Finally had to go to bar to ask to pay. Complete lack of customer service - couldn’t have been less interested. Food was ok

Pretty poor experience dining here. Service and food was not like it used to be, maybe staff were having a bad day. The place could do with employing a couple of cleaners, dread to think what the kitchen is like.

What lets this hotel down is the beefeater where something that resembles a breakfast is produced. The staff behind the server look like they need a good wash. Scruffy and very rude. Bringing food to the hot plate then throwing it on the server and banging around. It you don’t want to take pride in your job then leave simples. The bar in the evening, well what can I say, the sign states the bar will close at 10. It doesn’t. It closes when staff want it to. Rude bar staff, and one in particular tried to get confrontational. Silly girl. Names taken will report you all. Go away and learn some customer service skills 🙄

Vile!! Filthy and disorganised. The staff are rude and confrontational, and seem to think they are doing you a favour by serving you. The place needs shutting down, deep cleaning and a recruitment drive to find decent staff who actually want to work in the service industry, and posses both good manners and decent customer service skills.

Went in with out a reservation on the off chance and was greeted quickly and showed to our table and the host couldn't have been more helpfully. Our waitress Ruby was very attentive and made sure we always had a drink. The food was delicious and I highly recommend the bbq ribs. All in all a great experience 5*

Unfortunately it was extremely disappointing, the serving counter was covered in spilled food that had been there for long enough to be dried out. The bacon was under cooked, the hash browns looked more like mashed potatoes, there were no eggs. The bread area had 1 slice left which was dried out. We asked for a refund and ate nothing. Overall dirty, poor quality food.

I won't mention the state of the floor or chairs, as they've already been reviewed and things haven't changed. Unlike the last time we went, their seemed to be a lack of staff, so very slow service, but worse was the food, my wifes lasagna was cold and had to be returned, for more microwaving!! And the pies myself and my mum had were not that hot and portion size for the cost was small. I hope they turn themselves around as we used to like going there but will be leaving it until we see better reviews coming in.

We went on a Monday evening and the place seemed quite busy. Ordered potato dippers and calamari to start. Both came very quickly and were hot and delicious. We'd both ordered ribeyes for mains and they came in good time and were cooked perfectly. The whole place had a really cosy atmosphere and looked clean. Our waitress Kate was really friendly and was on the ball offering more drinks and making sure we had everything we needed. We had a really good time and will definitely be back.

We thought this would be a better option than the Motorway services whilst travelling down to Devon. How wrong could we be. We were not expecting a first class experience but there is no excuse for filth. It was like being in a third world country. This place should be shut down and deep cleaned from top to bottom. The staff were pleasant enough and the food was ok but it was so uncomfortable sitting with food trodden into the carpets, dirty plates left on tables. A horrid experience.

Monday night, chicken goujons overcooked. Prawn cocktail ok. Fish and chips, fish was overcooked and dry. The double beefburger was ok, but the gluten free bun had been burnt. Food took ages to arrive. Tuesday morning, asked for scrambled egg white, I'm allergic to egg yolk. Simon did an excellent job and I went to the kitchen to thank him. Gluten free toast was anaemic everything dries out under the hot lights. Rest of breakfast was ok. Dinner was ok. This time much quicker, we'd barely finished our starters and our mains were ready. Bacon burger a tad over dry. Steak was well cooked one end and medium at the other. Breakfast, waited to be seated, no one came so went in, girl said she would check us off the register. Asked for scrambled egg white and one slice of gluten free toast, preferably a little more cooked. Lady went to kitchen. Heard person running the breakfast pass saying "I don't know how to do scrambled eggs, never done em". Obviously this was not the chef, tall man, black hair, beard, olive skin. Lady came past me saying Martyn would do them. Waited and waited and waited person in kitchen shouted at another guest to move from behind the hot plate bar as she was blocking the fire exit. I saw two steaming bowls on the pass Lady went to pass then went away. Heard person in kitchen saying "I know how to do them but, couldn't be bothered" After waiting 15 mins partner went to find lady and ask where the eggs and toast were as he'd finished his breakfast. She went to see the person from the kitchen and he blamed her for not serving them. I said to Lady that the bowls had been on the pass for at least 15 mins, she said they had been under the hot lights. I said person in kitchen obviously didn't want to be in the kitchen at all. Got rest of breakfast finished and left. The tables were sticky, seats dirty, torn and stained, the carpets need replacing. The whole place is overly tired and needs a through clean. Actually knock it down and start again. Some of the staff were ok, others looked as if they wanted to be else where. Couldn't wait to get out and start travelling home. It really let the Premier Inn down.

Visited on Tuesday for breakfast. Was welcomed in to a warm atmosphere, food was well stocked up and hot. Asked the chef for poached eggs too which was no hassle. 10/10

I never leave a review normally, but our experience at this Beefeater was exceptional. From the moment we arrived we were greeted by a lovely waitress who showed us to our table and took out drinks order, super attentive. Drinks took no time to arrive there were 8 of us, food all came out looking great, was hot and tasty. We couldn't have asked for more, we'll be back for more great food and service. Thanks for making our evening

Popped in for lunch to break up a long drive down the M5. Although not that busy the service was great and the food was hot and as I ordered.

Popped in unexpectedly ,there was availability and we were seated at a table for our needs. I had my mother with me who is in a wheelchair . The server was very patient and I did not feel rushed at all. The food once ordered came out hot ,I had potato dippers for starter my mum had soup. The mains came out again looked nice on the plate and was nice and hot . Mum had the fish and chips and I had the steak . I asked for well done not burnt and it was perfect. I will visit the white lodge again with my very large family but will ensure I book that!!! Very happy overall .

This Beefeater sadly lets down the Premier Inn next door (which is excellent). We ate breakfast here twice during our stay. At both times, the staff members who served us seemed grumpy and unfriendly. On the first visit the food had been left under the heat lights for too long and was cool and rubbery. On the second visit we were charged a fee a baby despite ‘kids eat free’ - this has never happened to us in our years of Premier Inn. The coffee and tea machine was also broken, on our second visit, so we were given a pot of tea for two, this wasn’t enough to fill our two cups. I certainly suggest the staff need some customer service training at this location.

Very disappointed with this restaurant, we travel a lot for sport so stay in a lot of Premier Inns and use their restaurants. Its was filthy, extremely work chairs, I couldn’t hazard a guess as to when the floor was hoovered, let alone the tables moved and cleaned properly. The smell was unbearable.

Filthy, chairs were really worn and stained badly, I wouldn’t like to hazard a guess as to when the floors were hoovered, mopped or even the tables moved to be cleaned properly. There was this really bad smell, like rotten nappies!!!!

Easy parking,and wheelchair access into restaurant. Food wasn't value for money as my wife's surf and combo was lacking in quantity although steak was cooked as required. We were given desert menus however knowone came back to ask for our choice, but proceeded to tell us the restaurant was closing. Regarding toilets they lack regular checks by staff as the ladies; my wife told me that the toilets lack toilet paper. Staff were polite and friendly.
