I had breakfast here this morning with friends. Food was great, service was fast and the pub was welcoming and friendly. Will definitely be returning.

My friends and I (9 people) attended The White Lion for breakfast this morning. I had the pancakes with bacon and syrup. They were beautifully done, home made, soft and fluffy with crunchy streaky bacon and plenty of syrup. The staff were very helpful, well presented, polite and welcoming. The service was fantastic, and quick. I had a fantastic time with my friends here and look forward to coming back again for breakfasts, lunches and dinners.

Went with a group of freinds for breakfast something for everyone service was amazing nothing too much could choose from a cooked breakfast to pancakes and so much more.

Chicken Biriyani was REALLY SPICY unlike most places so beware. It was really good though and tasty. I don’t know if this is an Indian chef or pub chef doing Indian food but the burger was dry and cold. The cheesecake was a sloppy mess and not really cheesecake texture but more Eton mess and SOOOOO GOOD

Worst food ever. Lamb Chop curry was raw. King prawn curry was disgusting with prawns having heads on etc... Starters and curry's all had same sauce and flavours. Avoid at all costs.

What an amazing pub. Tuked away in amersham and hidden gem..I wemt there and best menu ever and delicious food too. You can't expect the menu from a pub but a restaurant. Amazing staff and so friendly too. The customers are equally friendly and the most peaceful, classy and welcoming pub in Hertfordshire. I will ome back many times again. I thank the staff and even the. customers.

Great meal! We came in a bit awkwardly, because it was so incredibly quiet in the restaurant. The service also didn't really respond to the fact that we came in. Find a seat and order at the bar, where you pay immediately. It is a varied menu! Management came several times to ask if everything was okay. It only got busy around 8 p.m. because it was pub quiz night. It immediately felt a lot more pleasant, because the pub was filled with people.

A welcome sight for a rambler on a cold wet day. The barman changed the first pint of pride for me as it was below par.. I have changed the review because I realised I muddled my Chalfont pubs.

I had the 1/2 tandoori chicken and masala chips about 6 months ago and was pleasantly surprised. Really good flavoursome masala chips and well marinated chicken. (The photo with the chicken shows my previous really good experience). Today I had the same dish and was surprisingly disappointed. I’m not sure what has happened but I have heard the chef has changed. My chips were fatter, under cooked and lacked flavour, were not crispy at all. A couple chips had that frozen chip flavour which hadn’t been cooked through. Chicken was not well marinated. Seemed like the marinade was slapped on just before I collected the food. Parts of the chicken were cold too. It would be good to see this place back to where it was because it was genuinely good.

Pizza not cooked enough base very pale and doughy needed another 10 minutes in the air fryer before we could eat it

Had Christmas dinner for 14 on Christmas Day, could not fault anything, food was great, service couldn’t do enough for us all and price was great for all the work and giving up their Christmas days for us. Thank you to everyone, will be back soon!

Great pub to watch sports on multiple screens, with an extensive food menu.

The amount of food was great and really filling. All meals ordered we all enjoyed with no complaints. Highly recommend The White Lion.

Had lunch here today. Pleasantly quiet. Food was amazing in volume flavour and quality given its 2 courses for 2 people for £30. Had vegetable samosas, so well presented and tasty and a decent portion on fish and chips. Quietly efficient, friendly service from lady behind the bar. Definitely worth visiting for lunch here. Dog friendly. They even brought my dog a water bowl and biscuits. Lovely experience at this pub.

A hidden gem amongst the many more popular pubs in the area. This place is a perfect combination of top notch food, drinks and service. Its our regular now.

Very small portion size of fries compared to other places, considering it's £4 for one portion. Extra filling/ingredient in sandwich, which wasn't outlined on menu. Not good quality considering prices.

We had a lovely meal here. The staff were wonderful and the menu selection was very good. They even allowed our little dog in which was great. Id certainly visit again.

This has been my local for 12 years or so, and its had its share of high and low spots. Currently it's doing really well and the new menu is great. We recently stopped and tried the new Indian food at lunch time and it was superb. Starters of spring rolls and samosas with a chick pea sauce, Chicken Makhani (spiced up a bit on our request, which was great) and Biriani were both excellent. Really impressed. Also cask ales are £3.75 per pint on Mondays, so got a bonus there too. Highly recommended.

We watched the Euro semi final at the White Lion recently. The staff could not have been more accommodating and friendly. The atmosphere was amazing and it was a delight to see them evening to enjoy it as much as the whole crowd did. This was not my first visit and won’t be my last, highly recommended as a pub which is a great place to meet up with people.

Chicken makhani made with preformed chicken....not good

Really good! Food is very nice and pretty good value. On this occasion, just eat could not find a delivery driver so the owner of the pub took time out of his day to come and deliver the food.

A tasty Sausages and Rich Beef Gravy + Mashed Potato + Peas + Mashed Potato + S'mores Chocolate Brownie (With chocolate sauce, salted caramel sauce and served with vanilla ice cream) delivered hot and on time but failed to deliver my Magners so had to get a refund

Food was delicious. But the containers fell apart before delivery so sauce was everywhere.

order lunch for me and the wife. didn't send chips. asked me if I knew te delivery drivers details. no I don't why would I? call me back. same thing again. no I don't know him. asks me why I didn't check the order before driver left. the guy was here for about 2 seconds. how could I check. they have no clue how just eat system works and I don't hold much hope of any refund or compassion. very disappointing. should learn how this works before offering to general public. will not order again.

A wonderful first order of Masala Rice and Cheese Balls x 4Grilled plus Goats Cheese followed by Bramley Apple and Cinnamon Crumble with Custard and a bottle of cool Magners deliverd hot and on will order again

White Lion in Amersham is an incredible bar with a top-notch selection of food. The starters and chicken dishes are so delicious that I find myself ordering them multiple times a week. The staff is exceptionally friendly and truly cares for their customers. I highly recommend this place. Tushar, the owner, is a fantastic guy who ensures every customer has a great experience from start to finish.

I love going to this pub for a quick drink with my clients, or enjoying the not so usual desserts which are amazing. It’s dog friendly so another plus point. The owner Tushar and his staff are always warm and welcoming.

We stopped there for my birthday 🎂 🥳 and the whole weekend was fantastic, thanks to this place, and the staff. Brilliant!

Our local pub; great service and decent food. The Indian menu they have introduced recently is fantastic! Samosa chaat is a must try!!

We had lunch on Sunday for a family birthday party. Food was good and we had a great time.

Indian food was great. Really tasty. The roasts weren’t as good as aunt Bessie type roast potatoes and plastic tasting meat. We were not told on arrival that we had to go to the bar to order, I find it’s a polite gesture for staff to let you know this. Food didn’t arrive together, waitress didn’t really care. Couldn’t find her at the end of our meal to ask her name. Ro & Alex were very helpful when we asked for assistance and complained. Ketchup in Heinz bottles but was watered down and had a strong taste of vinegar. My kids took me here for Mother’s Day and I took my mum so feeling quite disappointed. I run a local Facebook page and I’m always reviewing restaurants, this is one I wouldn’t visit again and rarely say this.

This place is under new management and what I can say, the new owner Tushar, has some brilliant ideas. The new food meniu is amazing. We had chicken curry with in house nan bread and lamb with potatoes and a beautiful sos. Presentation 10 out of 10 and taste very good. Can’t describe in words how good it was. This place has private parking off street, space for business meetings and space to watch sports. Definitely recommend this place.

So we tried the new (mainly Indian) menu last night - pretty good! Starters : Lamb chops, Shell-on prawns Mains: Chicken Tikka Makhni, Cheese and Herb Crusted Cod, and Fish & Chips All the meals went down really well. Chicken curry nicely spiced, crusted cod was not overcooked, and the chips were excellent!

Just stopped for a few pints. A very comfortable place to watch the Six Nations.

On a visit nearby and wanted lunch before heading home. Wow what a find this place turned out to be! Menu was fab, wanted to eat most things on the menu, so hard to choose. Food arrived and looked amazing. Chips were piping hot as were chicken wings. We chose separate sandwich lunches, both were really good. We tried each other's! So enjoyed it. Only negative is we don't live nearby, if we did we would be regulars without a doubt!

We were a party of 5 having dinner on 27th December. The place was empty and there was only one member of staff. She was nice. However we were disappointed as this pub advertises being dog friendly and having a dog menu and at no point we were offered anything for our dog. We went to other places with our dog and we were at least offered a little treat for them. The food was nice but we would have appreciated table order as it’s not easy to order for 5 at the bar and it was for a birthday celebration.

Food is good but service is absolutely appaling! We were left without our mains for quite sometime after ordering, food was nice however no one checked on us after our food was given to us, our plates then remained on the table for a long time after we had finished, we then flagged one of the wait staff to remove our plates and to bring us the bill. The bill was given to us along with the card machine and we were just left, after about 20 minutes we gave up and charged ourselves for the meal. We then got ready and left, on our way out the door the barman said to us "are you not going to pay?" This made me really annoyed I told him we've already paid using the card machine they left us with and had basically done their job for them! He then went on how it was inconvient for him that we did this! There were about 3 parties of people in the whole pub during all the time we were there so they were not busy in the slightest! I have never known service like this before! Who gives customers the card machine to charge themselves it was an absolute joke! Safe to say I will not be returning!

Such a big place. Private parking in the back of it, outside seating area, indoor space. I haven't seen a pub with so much space. Good food, friendly staff and nice atmosphere. If you want to go out with your friends or you want to watch a football game, this is the place for you.

Staff really need a rocket up them, so slow. Food is cold, had the pork Sunday roast and very disappointed, potatoes not crispy, gravy cold, carrots boiled not roasted, no crackling on the pork, despite the menu. Bottomless topups non-existent, I have asked 3 times now…

I took my mum yesterday for afternoon tea, late Mother's Day / Birthday treat and what a treat it was! We were greeted warmly, and shown a table. Asked for our choice of tea and then brought the most delicious range of goodies. There was plenty of sandwiches / wraps with a tasty choice of filling. The sundried tomato/avocado wrap was amazing, huge prawns in the marie rose, a BLT, it was all delicious. Then brownies and profiteroles and a huge scone with jam & cream. We sat for 2.5 hours and devoured the lot, completely stuffed and enjoyed a blissful afternoon of chatter and good food. We will definitely be headed back.

45 minutes and still no food it's only a sandwich for gods sake terribly service and very poor attitude by staff. Food finally arrived this was rated a 1star only because it wouldn't let me rate it anything else

This was a first time visit for me and my family after it was well recommended but our time was not good. It seemed they were very understaffed to deliver any kind of service. The guy we saw at the bar to let know know we'd arrived for our booking was absolutely clueless and just shrugged his shoulders and said I think you might be over there. Then ignored our presence, didn't check or anything, or seat us, or even tell us to make our way over. So we just went and assumed it was for us. No one came to greet us/ take a drinks order or even let us know the service may limited due to short staffing. Eventually we went to the bar to ask if we were expected to go and order or if we were actually meant to he waited on. When the lady came over she was nice enough but there was no apology for the lack of service so far, missed a drink off the order and when they were brought over she seemed irritated by the fact and said we'd have to sort them as she brought each of over. The table was not set so a wodge of cutlery and napkin was brought to the middle, again for self distribution. My meal was nice of chicken pie with a good amount of meat in it, and veg and potatoes were also nice, this is only reason for the 2 star instead of 1. The amount of each thing was weirdly small, a spoon of cabbage- zero exaggeration, another spoon of root veg, some roast potatoes and mash ? To make up for the lack of everything maybe? But then my partners beef roast had roast potatoes and a literal spoon of mash- goodness knows what the thought process was. Everyone else was quite disappointed in their meals, especially as one of them didnt even turn up! - greasey, tough and dry meats, tepid chips, the same pitiful amount of veg, lack of garnish/ fillings etc. And then continued to be ignored, not checked in on at all or checked if the food was alright. We went to the bar to pay, obviously no tip, and thankfully left. Our experience was naff and although it was understaffed, there was little to no effort and zero sh*ts given. Defo one to avoid.

I like the White Lion, but yesterday it was a full football evening plus a very big quiz night, and there appeared to be two front of house staff and a last minute agency chef. They all did a really good job, an excellent job (and the food was good!) but there just weren’t enough of them - management needs to do a better job of resourcing this pub at busy times.

A lovely find with a welcoming atmosphere, decently priced and amazing food. Staff very welcoming. All family friendly. Will be a regular to take family and friends too when they visit.

Not been to this pub for a long while ..but after hearing good things decided to give it a try again ..on the whole it was good a roast and a pie lots of meat in the pie and nice and hot my husband had the roast plenty of meat Fresh vegetables but far too much gravy on plate need to put it in little jugs much better that way They did get order wrong and charged for 5 meals even though we were a four .. But I would go back and try other things on menu as its quite local

The food here is outstanding!We are a regular customer since our work place is nearby.Recently we learnt that the menu have changed,but beetroot tart has been removed,it was heart breaking for me!As a veg eater it was one THE favourite dishes ever.Please bring back the beetroot tart.

Really clean and tidy pub which seems to have more ante character the more you look! Great variety on menu I tried the beef prop and smoked bacon lasagne and genuinely think it’s best lasagne i’ve ever had, served on sizzling skillet, superb! Great pub for food and service!
