Cheap and friendly welcoming pub.

First time at this pub and it was lovely. Great service and drinks. Can't help but feel it was slightly spoilt, although not directly by what appeared to be a very obnoxious member of staff clearing empty glasses who then deicded to pester this young couple to get up to dance. She was literally shouting at this young man to take his partner to dance when it was clear both just wanted a quiet night. She was so loud I could hear her across 2 tables with music playing too. They left shortly after and they looked very uncomfortable. She may have thought she was just joking but I certainly wouldn't appreciate a member of staff shouting at me. Shocking behaviour. Other than that it's a lovely pub.

Only had the one beer on passing but a great man’s pub. All racing channels on during the afternoon under £6 a pint. Fruit machines. The football on at night. Food menu looked alright and had specials

Fell into the general's open arms. Generally a great boozer.

Food was surprisingly really good and reasonably priced. Lots of TVs with football. Barman isn't the best.

Just had a 'Sunday roast' Dreadfully! All veg were a tasteless mush Beef ? Tough,tasteless,cooked earlier,microwave warm,(curled up burnt edges)

The roast was brilliant! Especially the cauliflower cheese! Highly recommend! Service and drinks were amazing, will be back!

This has become a regular place for myself, my friends & family to have lunch and breakfast. We are making our way through the fantastic menu, trying something different each time & we have never been disappointed.

Wow, what a Sunday Lunch , I couldn't eat it all. Have used this pub for I can't remember how many years, Today was our first Sunday Lunch, it won't be the last.

Yet again a very nice Easter Sunday roast dinner plus dessert. Pleasant staff & nice atmosphere. Recommend this pub.

Wow, called into pub whilst wedding dress shopping next door and was super Impressed with everything, the food was phenomenal, so fresh and tasty well presented. Spotless clean pub and very friendly staff and atmosphere, went out of their way to make us strangers feel welcome..was such a lovely afternoon thankyou.

Eaten here many times - always fresh & as quick as can be.. Todays breakfast was outstanding 👌 😋 honestly, probably best ive ever had. Quality, fresh, clean, quick - with a great cuppa. But go back for the freshly battered fish!

Just a great pub.Made to feel welcome and had great beer too boot.Chesham has some great pubs and this is one of them.

A nice pub. Friendly staff. Quiet when I visited for lunch. Plenty of clean tables . Gets busy in the evening. A well stocked Bar. Nice freshly cooked dishes on the Menu. Not A La Carte but Traditional Food. Reasonably priced.

Had a Sunday roast with my family recently. The roasts we had were outstanding. Couldn't fault it and it was packed due to the football. Waited about an hour because of how busy it was but the time went quickly as we were chatting in our family group. Would highly recommend The Generals. Thanks Will

Just popped in as we were a bit hungry, not having eaten all day. Sandwiches were excellent and the barman couldn't do enough for us. Certainly recommend.

Staff are always really excellent, and the food is tasty and well priced. Not glamorous but very friendly.

Went there on a Sunday day with family. Bartender was friendly and welcoming. Food was surprisingly very good. Some good beers on tap. Good atmosphere and kid friendly during the day

Quick pint pre gig. Manager Will is a top bloke. Runs a decent town centre boozer, which is no mean feat these days. Late licensing to cater for the partying types, plenty of tellies for us sports fans.

We had one of the best Pimm's. Friendly staff

Typical loud town centre pub. But clean and tidy and well run. Also has a good food offering. Mainly a younger crowd at weekends.

We love the Generals, staff are always very friendly and helpful lovely atmosphere, one of our favourite places to visit!

We go to Chesham and always go to the General Arms for lunch , they have changed the menu but the food is still fantastic , the staff are always friendly and welcoming keep up the good work x

Good breakfast. But why are people on alcohol before 10am?

Absolutely horrendous experience. Smelly pub, waited over an hour for our burgers (we were told it would take 20min). When we asked where the food was, they told us it would be at least another 20min. The pub was not busy. Upset with the service, we canceled the food and were not even given any compensation except for the food refund.

We went for Sunday dinner and to watch the last game of the premiership on one of their many TV screens. We both opted for the lamb shank and it was both gorgeous and massive. Roast potatoes and parsnips , Yorkshires, stuffing and veg plus you get a desert all for £11. Bargain. Both manager and both staff were very friendly, helpful and incredibly hard working. Totally recommended

Decent pub with lots of screens and always busy with locals. Happy service with average food offering. Beers are cheaper and people are happier. Would recommend Street a long countryside walk around Chesham.

Lovely pint of John smiths the pub is clean and friendly and very good service shall definitely use again when around that area I would recommend you give it a try and the food looked amazing

Great place to eat, drink and watch sports or just chat. Possibly the best all round pub in Chesham. It helps that it has a great landlord and landlady.

Oh my lord, were do I start...got the veggie burger and wow is all I have to say..normally vegagerian burgers look sad and depressing next to say beef burger..these guys went challenge accepted and it was honestly the best burger I've ever had, my hubby got the Sunday roast and couldn't finish it, becouse the portion was massive, and he said it was amazing!!! Just wish they would have more vegaterian options rather than burger and a jacket potato, but would go back again ^,^

We went for the semi and final of Euros. Had a meal both times which were good and a very quick service. However, what stood out were the staff. They worked so hard and even though the pub was busy we didn't have to wait for drinks. Well done to them🙂

Amazing pub with good food and beer selection, multiple sport screens, and great owners who adjusted amazingly well to all the lockdowns and restrictions of the past year.

Landlord is great real.family man clean toilets and a good variety of beers wines and spirits clean place quiz nights I believe they have two darts teams one from the old name one from the new good refurbishment smoking area outside disco on a saturday and bands sometimes play

Only stopped in for one quick drink but got a really comfy seat and the staff cleared the table as soon as I sat down. The bar maid, Amy was super friendly and efficient too :)
